    1) De-stress your life.
    2) More skin to skin time.
    3) Drink plenty of water 💦.
    4) Eat healthy food (healthy carbs, sweet potato, beans and carrots, oatmeal, whole grains, proteins from meat, olive oil, good fat, lactation cookies)
    5) Nurse or pump often ( Atleast every 2-4 hours).
    6) try power pumping ( pick an hour of day devoted to pumping while massaging your breasts with 10 minutes rest after every 20 mins).
    7) Use herb teas fenugreek, moringa, fennel, Brussels, or have milk supplements.
    Thanks ☺️

      Healthy babies don’t make money for drs. 🤷🏻‍♀️ my opinion. Baby can be healthy on formula but we know of special antibodies that just can’t be duplicated from breast milk.

      Many doctors arent lactation consultants. Many pediatricians do not have extensive training on breastfeeding unless they took additional training.

    Awesome advice! When I started exclusive pumping I was only getting 1-2 oz per breast. Now, in the mornings I get about 9oz total and in the evenings it's about 6oz. My routine?
    -Pump regularly every 3hrs(except at night, I pump right before bed and as soon as I wake up.
    -Take 2 tablets of fenugreek every day
    -Eat healthy(lots of oatmeal, I always seem to have a boost after eating oatmeal)
    -Drink lots of water!(I can always tell when I'm not drinking enough, my supply dips)
    -I also take Sunflower Lecithin occasionally to prevent clogs.
    -Look at pictures and videos of my baby while pumping.
    I keep these up consistently and now I get about 42oz a day. I am now able to donate some extra!
    Thank you for the advice Bridget!

    What i do is i drink garlic milk. I have pcos and so i do not have much milk supply. But garlic milk has helped me a lot. I chop one garlic flake and boil it in water until it is thoroughly cooked. I then add milk to it and drink the milk and chew up the garlic too. My mom and her ancestors have been following for generations. I hope it helps someone!

    Keeping your thoughts and stress in check is more important than you think. I remember when I was producing milk if I even thought of my baby or heard another baby cry I would start leaking. It’s amazing the link between our brains and lactation. So if just hearing a baby cry can trigger your body into opening your milk ducts, just keep in mind bad and stressful thoughts can sometimes do damage that we might not be able to visibly see.

    • @lilrascalish
      @lilrascalish Рік тому +1

      So true. Sadly I'm a living experience of how stress killed my milk supply and my baby was barely 2 months old. Relationship stress. Now my baby is 5 months but I'm still trying to see how I can replenish because I really want him to breast feed and not only formula fed. 😢

    • @Angel_Billy4-30-23
      @Angel_Billy4-30-23 Рік тому +2

      @@lilrascalish I know, I'm having the same problem. I was pumping consistently well and got it to where I was pumping about 2 to 2 and a half ounces per breast per pump session because my baby was in the NICU because he was born 5 weeks premature and was dealing with jaundice on and off for the first week of his life so he had to stay in the incubator under the blue light therapy so breastfeeding was almost impossible. I was only allowed to keep him out for a half hour every 6 or so hours so I didn't have the time to get him to latch or to really give breastfeeding a solid try. But I was pumping just fine until stressors in my life and especially my relationship with my baby's father started to get worse. I'm still pumping but I'm only getting a few drops per session so I am desperately trying to build up my supply of milk again because I don't want my baby strictly on formula (which he currently is because I can't pump enough). I'm just ar such a loss of what to do and I really hope I can bring back my milk supply while I'm still able to get out a few drops.

    For those moms that can’t get baby to latch, you can use nipple shield, I use it because my baby was in the NICU and the first thing she tasted was a bottle so we couldn’t learn that natural latch, so I had to opt for the nipple shield. It’s a little frustrating but you can still breastfeed. I use the medela nipple shield

    • @marisol0813
      @marisol0813 2 роки тому +7

      Nipple shields don’t always work. I was given one by the NICU nurse and I didn’t know they came in different sizes. My nipples were too small for it and baby wasn’t getting any milk and lost weight. Drs said to give her formula so she could gain weight and I ended up hating the spitting up and vomiting so I exclusively pumped for a year. It was sooo hard but glad I was able to do that for her.

    • @kaylinde2321
      @kaylinde2321 Рік тому +7

      NICU mom here too. Nipple shields might not work for everyone but it’s good to know it’s an option, I don’t hear it mentioned much. It helped me in the beginning but a few days into it I felt it wasn’t needed. It took a while for my baby to get used to breastfeeding but we got there eventually. Currently doing bottle and breastfeeding, it’s very time consuming. My supply is low and he has tons of reflux and vomiting from formula so I’m struggling to increase my supply 😔

But don’t ever think that way about yourself! I know it’s easier said than done… however, as long as you’ve fed your baby that’s all that matters. I always tell myself that food in my baby’s belly is better than none. Hey Bridget! I LOVE your content and have watched so many videos. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE update this one with a disclaimer about fenugreek. A little research will show you that not only will it NOT work for over 50% of women, but it will actually have the OPPOSITE effect for them. Yes, meaning it will lower milk supply. Fenugreek destroyed my milk supply about a month and a half ago and it hasn't been the same since. I couldn't believe what I found when I did a little bit of research. There's a reason that Legendary Milk supplements all say "Fenugreek Free" on them... I hope you read my comment and do your own research

      Baby is 3 weeks pumping roughly around 8 fluid ounces I am the primary care therefore I cannot pump always and she will not latch to me therefore I'm stuck at 8 fluid oz per day and formula feeding to suffice I cry all the time about it like the hospital had taken away my ability to be the mother that I wanted to be for her please stay strong

    I am happily breastfeeding with my baby, he will be 3months end of this month. I’m also so worried because As I observed, he drink 3oz within 4 hours. It’s supposed to be 4-5oz every 3-4 hours. I was monitoring my milk during pumping, not much milk at all 3oz amount for both without feeding the baby yet.
    Any suggestions? 🥺

    I had my son little over 2 weeks ago.
    I started to take Fenugreek at day 5, I noticed a HUGE increase in milk supply for about a week. 3 days ago I noticed I was barley producing enough. I also experienced major stomach pain in the evening and I was extremely gassy all the time. My son was up ALL night crying for a few days and nothing calmed him down.
    I stopped taking it and my pain reduced a lot the first night and my son had a great night with me. But still on not producing enough milk.
    I'm exclusively pumping.
    I made myself lactation cookies yesterday, I hope they work.

    Ladies, I put myself in a vicious loop, help, please!)) I have twin girls, born 2500g and 2800g)) Both just don't yet suck strong enough. I use the pump, but also want to create a milk storage for at least 2-3 feedings ahead. Now I pump and they want to eat already, so I give them this milk I just pumped, but dont have a portion for next feeding. So I put them to breast less, which is of course idiotic, since the goal is to breastfeed directly when they have more strength... But my nipples are sore right after pumping and when they wake up, I am empty... Got myself in a this loop. Should I just give them formula once or twice just to have a couple of milk portions ahead? And maybe pump more often? I do it once in 2 hours now. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. oh, btw, I am in Ukraine, so power outages, cant rely on fridge, there are 4 hour breaks in electricity. I guess I'll need to use that bag Medela offers with a col accumulator once the fridge is off. I need just about. 3 portions, not 10, so no need for freezer (thanks to the russians(( )

    My baby just screams the whole time I try to breastfeed but he will calmly drink from a bottle which lowered my supply and I had to add formula. Its really crushed me im still dealing with it. It’s so hard cause the whole world makes you feel like a bad mother for not being able to do it. Especially mothers who easily can as soon as they give birth. They act all high and mighty about it and go out of their way to make you feel like you just didn’t try hard enough. I’m heartbroken but nothing works. I pump every two hours and sometimes do it for a whole hour. I drink about a gallon of water or more. Nothing works.

    is it true for everyone that the more frequent you remove the milk, the more milk your body produces? I find that for myself, if i pump 4 hours after last session vs 3 hours, I pump out more. It seems like that my body needs time to replenish the milk... what can i do? still pump more frequently?

    I gave birth 4 days ago. He has had all my colostrum and my milk made a show yesterday. However, it is not enough and he keeps crying relentlessly-it is heartbreaking. We resorted to buying some single use formula bottles while still persisting on the breast to stimulate them. Last night I was crying to the idea of not being able to breastfeed. I worry there is something wrong with me and i wont be able to give him the best thing there is, breast milk. So heart-breaking.

    Do you have any advice/videos for women who pump because their baby won’t take the breast? Just wondering if there’s any advice that would be different from the advice you have to working moms who also breastfeed. My baby hates the breast and screams and pushes it away so I’m currently pumping and producing only about half of what she wants to eat, so I’m supplementing with formula. I’d like to get to the point where I can give her solely breast milk and even store some extra.

The sensation around the areola is kind of numb, but I still feel the letdown if I miss a feed due to formula I would be engorged, but today I didn't feel that she has been eating off and on between naps. But now I feel like she is eating a lot more and I am not making enough milk.

      Alice Chen yes please respond to this above question ! I struggle with my baby he’s like 80 percent breastfed most days but some days he’s not getting enough, and smashes through 8oz bottles of formula. He’s 4 months now. I think stress has been my biggest issue. I had a really hard labor/delivery, and a bit of PPD. I have been going on long hikes, and getting me time on Saturdays to decompress but he’s a fast growing boy I feel like I can’t keep up 😳 perhaps I need to drink more water idk. I just started mothers milk tea recently. Ugh the 4th trimester has kicked my ass.

Since she’s stayed latched I noticed my breasts hardened and leaked this morning yet it still feels like she’s not getting enough now. She just ate. I’m finding it hard to pump anything tonight . Two breastfed infants, aged 15 and 20 days, were admitted to the hospital for a reported lack of weight gain in the previous 7 to 10 days, caused by "difficult feeding". The parents reported restlessness and vomiting during the past day. One of the mothers also reported feeling drowsy and weak. On examination, the infants were afebrile but had hypotonia, lethargy, emesis, weak cry, poor sucking and weak responses to painful stimuli. Infant laboratory values, electrocardiograms and blood pressures were normal, and septic work-ups were negative. Both mothers had both been drinking more than 2 liters daily of an herbal tea mixture reportedly containing licorice, fennel, anise, and goat's rue to stimulate lactation. After the mothers discontinued breastfeeding and the herbal tea, the infants improved within 24 to 36 hours. Symptoms of the affected mother also resolved rapidly after discontinuing the herbal tea. After 2 days, breastfeeding was reinstituted with no further symptoms in the infants. Both infants were doing well at 6 months of age. The authors attributed the maternal and infant symptoms to anethole, which is found in both anise and fennel, but not goat's rue; however, the anethole levels were not measured in breastmilk, nor were the teas tested for their content.[8]
