EPICA have been around for 20 years and they have produced a vast catalogue of work, both metal and non metal, ranging from breathtakingly beautiful to extremely heavy and every style in between, they have managed to do all of this without repeating themselves, every song is distinctly different, Every member of the band writes and composes songs, I think they have more variety in their catalogue than any other band I can think of.
I've been listening to these guys for many years and yes, they can still surprise. Stills from the video were taken from the 20th anniversary show, where this song was played for the first time 🤘
Like I said, this is more "Epica" than sirens. This is from their 20th anniversary show from last year. I guess it might be time you dive into young Epica... More of their older songs... I love Blank Infinity and The Last crusade from their second album CONSIGN TO OBLIVION. The ones live from Paradiso are great. Epica is just SO diverse. There's sooooo much to discover!
Epica is the most multidimensional band in metal. Even experienced Epicans are keep being surprised by their creativity and diversity either when discovering old stuff or getting to know new stuff. Here are some surprising examples (not for reaction) - Epica - Replica (Fear Factory cover) Epica - Abyss O’time Epica - Storm the Sorrow - acoustic live Pinkpop 2014 Epica - Happiness
Ah Danielson, thank you for checking out this banger of a tune. You still need to react to Tides of Time, a beautiful ballad that I believe Rob, the bassist wrote for another member of Epica after the death of the members grandmother, can't remember who, others will put you right. Whilst reacting think of your own elderly relatives and grab tissues, there is a fan video which has lyrics too. It will change you. And don't forget, from Epicans around the world, WE ARE WATCHING 😎👍
My grandfather is a saxophone player, and the moment when I saw this song, I immediately ordered the whole album!!! Usually I never do that, but hey, it's Epica 🤘😎🤘. And now, I am a proud owner of this album !!!!! Your reaction and joy over the saxophone (The sexiest music instrument Ever, I might add) was Awesome to watch. Also, very chipper song about the end of the world 😂. NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut.
For more of Epica's diversity check out their album The Score 2.0. It's the score for a movie released in the Netherlands. The movie is called Joyride. You wouldn't even know they were metal band based on listening to that album. They wrote all the music.
I really hope you check out a lot more. I'll be honest and say that you won't get as many views like Nightwish because frankly most people hear growls and are instantly put off by them but they are a necessary component for the overall meanings of their songs. Epica - Chasing the Dragon would be my vote for your next ballad by them.
LOL at 7:21 .. Taking into account that you're still recovering from that epic siren call (not a fan of that one myself, btw), you could've gone like: "WT..? Sax-metal?? Okay that's it, I'm OUT!" 😂 But like you said, your mind is open. So they throw in a sax and make it work! Discovering new music territory can be a bumpy ride. That may also include your subbies. I for one still remember the times you forced me to threaten unsubbing (for the crime of not picking the 'right' version of a song) only to applaud your nxt reaction for being unexpectedly insightful, haha. Anyhew, all in good fun. Keep it up man & Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘 P.s.: could do with some more Ayreon tho, or else..
@@AriasandtheNATION - extend subscription - 😁 May I suggest you'll let Floor's sister Irene do the honours and properly introduce you tt band? Here you go: "Ayreon - The Two Gates (Universe) TRANSCRIPT + LYRICS IN SUBS". Enjoy!
Also double reaction to Code of Life and El Codigo Vital. All 4 songs can be heard on Epica's official UA-cam channel. Abyss of Time and Code of Life are the official versions. Abyss O' Time and El Codigo Vital are the alternates.
Also The Cosmic Algorithm and The Funky Algorithm. Dancing in a Hurricane and Dancing in a Gypsy Camp. I've heard all these alternative versions but wasn't sure exactly where to find them so I've been scouring Spotify. Again all versions can be found on Epica's UA-cam.
if you do any epica song just go in blanc Every song hits different and has a different vibe. only consistent thing in their songs is simone's voice .. may i suggest code of live next for an middle eastern vibe song by epica ofcourse .
Dude you NEED to react to Therion - Ginnungagap live at Gothic. They are the pioneers of symphonic metal and are phenomenal just like Epica. Only Therion and Epica have been invited to play with the Hungarian Miskolc Orchestra. They are unreal. A bit more dark but no growls and great vocals. Seriously dude I HIGHLY recommend you react to this song and this band asap! Keep on Epica too and please check out Therion!
I’ve been listening to Therion and Epica since about the same time, despite the fact that Therion are the founders of the genre and the fathers, they have not reached such a high level and now, unfortunately, they are more in decline than “on horseback”. And almost everything they created after the Lemuria / sirius B albums is not admirable. And the track that came out the other day, I have a feeling that in terms of sound quality and recording they have gone back 15-20 years. So it sounds “flat” (( of course, those who are fans of the sympho metal genre should get to know them, but I wouldn’t put them on the same level as Epica at the time of 2023
@@wildhoney126 but of course. They have been around since early 90s. This is to be expected. It happens to all good bands. To have high expectations of them in 2023 is unrealistic and not fair on them. We should be celebrating their old music which is great and also exposing them to people on UA-cam. And the songs I’m trying to get people to listen to are old songs…..
@@SunOfTheSun I know some bands that are also from the late 80s, but they still create masterpieces. After Therion had that change in the band's lineup, when the brothers left, Matts left, Christopher stopped composing normal music. And on stage they began to resemble a traveling circus...
@@wildhoney126 I agree with you but that doesn’t mean that we can’t still celebrate the great music they made years before. The music they made was phenomenal and as a fan I would love more people to react to them. I think that’s fair
This EP also features the most brutal Epica song ever: Human Devastation (feat. God Dethroned & Sven de Caluwé). It's a collab, so again, not a typical Epica sound. If you want something heavy but still pure Epica, then: "Semblance of Liberty" (Lyrics) or "Incentive", one of the very few Epica songs without Simone.
Not a complaint …… you have some problems with your channel, which are off putting, however still watchable. Again not a complaint just a heads up. Maybe its my problem but other channels I watch are okay. ☹️🤕

The live gig was their 20th anniversary show they did last year. I was there and it was amazing. They premiered this song there by playing it live.
Epica are good enough to ‘Share’ the stage with anyone
I agree!
Epica, the band that does "More is More" to perfection!

Been listening to Epica since the Phantom Agony days and nothing has quite thrown me for a loop like that sax drop… but I love it!
The Final Lullaby is also from The Alchemy Project EP, the singer/sax player is Norwegian artist Jørgen Munkeby, his music project is called 'Shining'

The Army is huge. And I am not just talking NIghtwish Army here. The community around this type of music is massive.
community of great music
My favorite from The Alchemy Project is "The great tribulation" 🤘
