My wife passed away October 28th 2021. There isn't a day that goes by I don't think about her. Every time I listen to this song it makes me smile and laugh. Brings back a great memory of when my wife first heard this. My darling Cristi we will see one another again someday. Until then I love you with everything I have still.
This song hits me hard every since pop passed 3 long years ago it's almost like I'm sitting fishing with him when I hear this song I'm real sorry about your love my friend that I couldn't imagine and you will see her again brother someday and I'll be setting on the river bank with pops something I wish I would have done more of peace

I played this for my baby girl as she took her final breaths, this song and this rendition is so sweet and beatiful it was very touching as we said see ya soon baby girl.....in our hearts forever Laya Nicole
You got that right! Where did the great country music go!?!? I can’t believe what they try to pass off today. No great ballads anymore! Maybe a good one every now and then but a person has to look far and wide!
@@cryptodnut9277You're right, it's all by design. They're are pushing pop into country because studios want to eliminate music genres entirely so they can have control over everything...meaning everyone listens to the same thing, they sell more, get more listeners, etc.
I supposedly have Native American in my blood, but no proof. However, my papaws farm and his parents farm that was next to it was taken for a dam, in the name of tourism and money, so this speaks to me. If we had been left alone, we would have over 400 acres of land. Yet the government took it. Oh, they paid my mamaw.. bottom dollar. 🤬
As a native floridian I have to say this should be the official song of florida. It's beautiful and brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear it.I play it on my bass boat everytime I go fishing,it is my war cry!
Native Floridian here. 7th generation. Love this state. This song brings my heart so much joy from childhood to today. So much nostalgia for the Florida I grew up in and not for what was built up to be. Palmetto bushes, cypress trees, dirt roads, and swamps just do something for my soul. I also firmly believe this should be the official Florida state song.
@katethegreat7998 My husband is native since 1800s. I'm a transplant from 1966. But I was raised dirt roads lakes and woods. Hunting and fishing only way to go. Raised 4 awesome kids and now we have 7 grandkids ti teach Song soothes my soul out here on Paynes Prairie. Winds blowing now
I was born and raised in California, but I lived in Jacksonville for 7 years in the 90's, and I loved this song when it came out! I loved driving around and visiting places I'd read about, like Cross Creek, St. Augustine... I found the state beautiful, with birds and animals we don't have in CA - Cardinals, armadillos, gators... Back in CA for the last 25 years, but sometimes get homesick for FL!
I met John Anderson at a casino in Pocola, Oklahoma. After the show me and my wife were walking to our car and John was sitting by his trailer. I asked if we could take a picture together he said yes. We started talking and 30 minutes later we shook hands and hugged each other. He made me feel like we knew each other for years. John Anderson is one of the most considerate and down home person I have ever met!
The fact that this live version has more views than the album versions also available on UA-cam is a testament to John Anderson's talent. He sounds just as good live.
I just saw him at the Florida Strawberry Festival last night. 3rd time seeing him perform and he is and always will be an amazing songwriter and musician.
Better. This is the single greatest version of this song. And if you listen close. The piano notes are slightly different, the fiddle is drastically different at open and close from the album version. And my beloved whom i miss was a fiddle player. She was certain the fiddling for this live show was improvised and adapted from the album version.
I love this Song..Being a Native of Florida .now 62. Everything he sings about is true.i miss the old Florida..But ,I love Seminole Tribes. ..Beautiful culture..My half sister is Cherokee and I remember when my mom told me how they mixed up the babies in the hospital. There was a Seminole new born ..We had Six Gun Territory attraction in Marion county and we used to go see them perform..a lot of history with them!!❤❤
I am german, but there is a special relationship to All natives. I can't explain why. When I hear this Song I must cry and start to dance. I am 62 like you

Not just one of the best country songs ever, but one of the greatest songs ever recorded, period. I’m a songwriter with 50plus songs in my library, and I would have sold my soul to have written this one.
My dad passed away October of 1992 he was laid to rest in Seiling Oklahoma. On my trip there this song was played over and over again on the radio. Miss you Dad.
I'm Bulgarian, living in Europe, have never set foot in the Everglades or even the United States.. This song makes me cry. It breaks my heart. We can all associate with the lyrics.
A great and awesome friend of mind and a Vietnam Vet just passed away a few days ago and he was a Seminole from Florida. He was so proud of his heritage that he was cremated and asked that his ashes be spread on the land of his forefathers down on the Okeechobee River. Blessings from the Creator my friend. This song will forever remind me of you.
Absolutely haunting and a rallying cry to save a national and ecological treasure. This song stung when I first heard it almost 30 years ago and the state of the Everglades has only gotten worse since. There are some songs that just rise up, strike you and never leave....."The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", "Shuttin Detroit Down" and "Seminole Wind" are three examples as they describe heartfelt loss. Hopefully more people will hear Osceola cry before it is too late.....
Country songs are not my favorites. I am from Chicago, but the piano, violin, etc. and John Anderson make this a great song. It is on my play list. He is a real country singer.
The crazy part about this song is that till this day I still pause and take a moment to listen to it when it comes on the radio no matter where I’m at...one of the few songs that make me quit what I’m doing to enjoy it to it’s fullest!! 😔😔
The really funny thing is that I feel the same way. My husband and I are die-hard rock fans (to a point, it depends on who they are), and we discovered a new country station in Minnesota that plays country like this. They also play folk and stuff, but this song made us want to pay attention; we listen to this station as much as we can now. I'm sick of the same old crap they play on these rock stations sometimes, what a great refreshing change.
@@suekimmey8266 I wish we had a station like yours where I live. All I can get on the radio is modern country, which I don't listen to. Thank goodness for UA-cam. I can hear all my old favorites and come across new favorites of almost any genre. Congrats on your discovery.
Dying alone of cancer in Amarrilo. I weep each time I hear this. I miss my beloved Glades like a part of my soul. Thank you, John Anderson and Friends. Wonderful! UPDATE! I'm still around. Thank you for your prayers, my friends. Thank you!
I love you. From one soul to another. I hope to meet you in the afterlife and play this song with you. ❤ smile and enjoy every moment my friend. - Laura
This is REAL country with REAL meaningful lyrics! I just played it four times, playing again. Love this song, this man, and his music. God bless the Seminole Tribe and Nation
I dont live in florida im a northern redneck from michigan. I remember when this song came out and something about it clicked with me most likely the fiddle.
I’ve known him since he was 17! Our house was a stopping place for him when he was doing his work! Practically lived here. Always got excited when I saw his car when I got home from school. If he was tired he would be in my bed. He sat and ate a lot of poke salad, fried potatoes and cornbread. He is a true gem of a man!
John introduced this song where I worked in the early'90s. Fillies Saloon in WPB. John said he had a new song he never played in public yet, asked if we minded him playing it. Magical night.
David, that’s crazy. My buddy grew up in AZ and told me how Billy Gibbons would do the same thing at his house and party with his dad. A lot more partying though I presume. Cool stories though man. Something to tell the kids!
I still love poke salad! Sounds like accountinactive knows what he’s talking about! John still eats it so I guess he misses the old days too. We still talk and he calls me to see how I’m doing. I have cancer. He is the hardest working man I’ve ever known!
The government ended up spending 23 billion to fix stupid. The people that thought they were smart and had a right to destroy a natural eco system were stupid. This is one of my favorite songs from one of the greatest group of people they all did a good job. John Anderson should be in the country music hall of fame for sure. Thanks sharing.
A memory I will never forget driving from Thomasville Ga to JacksonVille with this song blasting and suddenly seeing the sign for Seminole…it was so beautiful
A real band- I’m a 67 old rocker with COPD BREATHING PROBLEMS- this music is getting me through scary times. Thank you all. Found it on accident! Lucky “
October of 2024. I’m 43 and have been listening to this song for over half my life. It still gives me chills. Part Apache here but this song speaks to me and hits deep in my soul
The Seminole were never defeated. There is a Seminole Reservation(don’t like that name) reservation that is. But the Seminole were integrated by runaway slaves, Choctaw, Creed, Redsticks before Jefferson’s forced eviction from Georgia and Alabama. Those that remained ran into the woods of Florida glades and were never defeated. Part Cherokee myself.
it's more about what John Anderson wrote this song about which is entitled about in the song from start to finish. it's about every member of his band that shares his passion for his existence on this planet we call earth. it doesn't have anything to do with any of the musicians , it's about all the musicians doing their own thing all at once end creating one of the most prolific and creative songs in this bands prime. every musician giving in 1000% of every bit of their talent together and yes i will agree that this violin is one of the best, creative artists like this can go anywhere and instill his brand of talent to any band be it country, rock n roll or country. there's no room for his talent in the rap scene because rap isn't about making music, it's about turning our kids against society and starting a movement that supports drugs guns and murder.
frank3695 because we exChanged "gods" for the money we now trust in we have lost our way and everything authentic has been counterfeited by gutless profiteers.. such is life among the dead and dying
I’m only 22 years old, John Anderson but my parents and aunts and uncles tell me about your Impact on country music! And better yet there from Orange County just like you!! God bless brother
I was raised in Micanopy, Florida, born in Ocala in the northern end of the swampland formerly known as the Everglades. This song has nothing but meaning to me having been to all these places and having family with strong Native roots I fell in love and stay in love with this song no matter how long it's been.
Born in Egypt. Living in Ocala. Just found this song two weeks ago as I was acquainting myself with George Strait, who performed in Tampa last Sat. No country song stirs me up like Seminole Wind.
I was a land surveyor in Palm Beach county during the 60s to the 80s, working in the Everglades a lot, this song is so deep in my soul, thank you John Anderson for taking me to that place in my soul.
Did y'all catch the special segment on CBS Mornings aired 8/5/22 on where he's been? It's a must-watch for all of us JA fans! ua-cam.com/video/m1pnrid9cDA/v-deo.html
What a mix of all the instruments in this one.All in sync.If you don't like this classic then you don't appreciate music from deep in the soul.John's best work by far.
I live in the land the land of the Seminole, and I feel it when his voice trembling how deeply he means what he sings. I've got goose bumps of Osceola cry God Bless this him and this Masterpiece 4:51
As a Floridian by birthright, this song touches me deeply. I can remember growing up in West Palm Beach years before the swamps got drained. My greatest memories are of setting traps in the bush and fishing in the canal behind our home...barefoot at that. In the land of the Seminoles, the alligators in the dark... snakes, snakes, snakes.
Not tryna be rude but the lyrics are "the alligator and the gar" (gar being a type of fish often found in florida swampy areas) ...I'm just a native Floridian from fort pierce fl..this song is a huge part of every true floridians life. 😊 -jenn (on my hubby's yt)
Wow Iam 69 doing ok and i still keep up with John Anderson, he and his music and song gives me a warm heart to this day however my Lord Jesus is still the one for everyone but i really think that God appreciate s song writers and gives talented men an wemon a chance to sing about facts of real life stories an their story goes heavily toward all of our Maker thanks John and Family an all the producers Amen!
It's no surprise people from Ireland and Scotland love this music. These parts of US were settled by Irish and Scots after the Revolutionary War. Why do you think there's so many whiskey distilleries?!❤
As a stagehand I worked a country festival back around 1990. I had never heard of Jon Anderson. He blew me away. He has a such a unique vocal style. Maximum respect Jon. Thank you.
I grew up in the area this songs speaks of, playing in the swamps and fields as kids were great times. Now they are nothing but houses and rude people, its saddening to see what has become our beloved state.
lost one Indeed - it’s why I love hurricanes - besides growing up with them they kinda... purge / cleanse and force us to along with it - Fl severely needs that... strictly IMO. I remember there was at least one good storm to hit per season while I was growing up - that stopped almost abruptly around 2004/2005. Not sure how I got on my ‘Fl needs a hurricane’ tangent - my apologies. 🙄
I am 53 years old I see how you feel in Florida I'm in from North Carolina there's so many people here now it's too bad what they've done to North Carolina
Wayne Sigmon I relate to both states. I missed 2 months being born In NC. Born n raised in NE. Florida. It was wild woods here growing up. Now its ruined. NC ( where my moms family is from ) isnt quite as bad imo.) but its gettin there.
And I am not a tree hugger by any means. Just miss the rural lifestyle that is all but gone here. It dont feel like home to me here near as much as it used to.
I haven't been to Florida in 31 years what part of North Carolina was you almost born at I remember going to Silver Springs where they made Tarzan movies
This song reminds me of my Daddy! He played the violin and played guitar, not like like this but He played a lot of Mexican Music with the violin. We used to roll up the rugs on the weekends and our Family and Friends would dance all night. He passed in 1993 and Mama passed in 1997. I miss Them every day of my life. I’m gonna be 68 this Friday and I still sigh and blow a kiss up to Heaven for Them. ❤
This is absolutely my favorite song ever. I remember singing along with it as a child and now that I'm grown I can really appreciate the message behind it.
I heard it for the first time, as me and my Dad drove down a dirt road with a couple bass in the cooler. I had never seen my dad catch a good fish til that day. He said it was all he ever wanted, to catch a couple nice fish with me. As we left the huge pond right by my house, we heard this song. We bonded over it and never forgot it. Forwards 6 months and the pond that I bonded with my dad, and kayaked with both of my sons on, is being drained. I actually cried. I caught so many fish and made memories with sons and father there. My shitty HOA is going to build over that beautiful pond, where we’d catch big bass, slab crappie, and 3 lb bullhead catfish. This song predicted what would happen to us, the first time we heard it.
@@turnkeydirect i feel your pain, im not originally from Florida but from eastern North Carolina and lived in Volusia county most of my life now and i have seen entire wildreness dissapear overnight including where my shitty HOA built too
I was the same and have a huge love for ecosystems- I grew up and devoted some my life to protecting them. Unfortunately this song can apply to many places around the world. It breaks my heart we are in a new age, constantly applauding ourselves
My grandmother was part of the Seminole and she was born in the 30s 1930s and in Florida in the Everglades this song really hits hard to me I cry with it but it's also a good thing cuz it makes me think of all the good thing she's done for me and how she loved me this song is like number one on my list of country music among all the other greats singers that I truly love too they're all great and awesome singers
I’m not from Florida but from Tennessee. This song has a deep sense of sadness to me. A longing for the old days. How the world is changing...how the south is changing..
I lived on the eastern edge of the Glades for 11 years. I fished, hunted, camped and skydived there. I must have flown across them 1000 times from 1963 until 1998. Am now marooned in AZ. I miss my Everglades sunsets like a part of my body. The Glades are, in fact, a part of my soul.
I've visited the Cherokee Indian reservation as an 8 or 9 year old, had saved my money from helping my Grand-pa bail hay and bought all kinds of beautiful things. The people were so nice. One lady ask me where I got all my money I told her. She said I'm so impressed that you help your grandpa. I laughed and said he has two sons one being my dad but they are no where to be found when it's time to bail hay. She asked what I did. I explained I drove the tractor and put the wire in the hay baler while he walked along and fed the hay in. She said you are a special child to help him. How'd you learn to drive a tractor? I explained he put me between his legs at two years old and let me drive his car while he operated the pedals and same on the tractor. She said you are such a good grand-daughter he must be proud of you. I told I was his first grand-child and always said his favorite grandchild. He said he had 2 boys that never helped him but at least he had me.lol
I used to be a canoe guide in the Glades. Based out of Everglades City. I ran trips down the Wilderness Waterway to Flamingo. One of the best times of my life.
Born in Jacksonville back in 1957. Grandparents lived in the piney forest 20 miles outside of town. Its all subdivision now. Saw it last in 2006 when I laid my mother to rest next to Pop in Evergreen cemetery. Live in Montana now where I got some elbow room. But I hear this song and my mind goes back thru the years. Thank you John.
I'm not native American, but beautiful music from the soul transcends any kind of race or color don't care. John Anderson scene from his heart and soul. Makes me feel sad that sometime ancestors might have been responsible to this. I hear the passion and love in the heart that speaks universally. Love John Anderson, and his take on this song. To me, writing songs is like writing poetry you cannot write passionate songs unless you feel it in your heart. That's a gift. Good night all
Hello 👋 Karen. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
I love this soothes my soul and reminds me of God's Country and the many backwoods I have 🚶 walked and the places I have roamed. May we never take what God created for granted For I love God's Country and Me and my people will defend it 100 percent to my last breath. This is my War Cry!!!
My stepdaddy was a Seminole. I'd never really listened to the words of "Seminole Wind" before today. Touching my heart and soul. So pretty yet so sad. Mother Nature will reclaim what's hers soon enough.
What I love most about this is the unique sound of the country "fiddles'. It amazes me how these artists can take this ancient classical instrument and give it an unmistakable country sound. God bless John Anderson and the band as well. This is a hauntingly beautiful song.
John Anderson wrote this song as a Florida native. His heart, like mine, must have broken from seeing all the destruction of the natural Florida. The phosphate mining was ugly, but when the land was mined and restored by the mining companies, the alligators, gar fish, snapping turtles, osprey, bald eagles and great blueherons moved right back in as the land re-naturalized. I grew up in central Florida in Polk County in the late 1960s when they started draining the Green Swamp and other areas. The land that is now Disney World and all the other "theme parks" was all drained by a huge system of canals. All the development around Orlando started with Disney, I remember as a young boy seeing the wild butterfly orchids growing on the cypress trees as my brothers and I pushed a jon boat through the swamp on our land. I would later see slabs cut off cypress trees with the orchid plants being sold to tourists. I remember it angering me so, even as a child, because I knew it meant the tree was killed where it stood. Even today, areas of young cypress trees are being cut down and shredded for cypress mulch and sold at Home Depot. The land under Disney World and all the other development is lost forever.
Bones and heart, every time! I'm part Seminole, Cherokee, Choctaw and white. I grew up learning my heritage and yes, I still cry when I here Seminole Wind...many reasons...but the biggest reason is that my Dad is the Native Side and I was 14 yrs old and got to help design the lighting for the concert of Seminole Wind in my hometown of Ocala, FL. It was one of the proudest moments of my life and career! My father watched my work, the crew were amazing, Mr. Anderson gave a teenager the chance of a lifetime and all of the other singers showed nothing but respect when some Seminole Tribe members were recognized and dedicated to!!!
My wife's uncle passed away last month. They played this song at the service, and it was amazing. Oddly spectacular. RIP David Brown, Vietnam Veteran 🇺🇸☝️🎹🎸🎤🎻
@John Anderson another big John Anderson fan here. Your music is helping me through a really tough time in my life. For a few minutes I can forget the pain I'm going through from losing my wife of over 50 years to cancer last month. Thank you Mr Anderson for making life a little more bearable with this beautiful music.
This song makes me weep each time I listen to it. I can feel the spirit of the land, its creatures, its people. God bless. One of the most beautiful American songs ever.
Fred Moore your not the only one man I miss it I grew up out there I know it better than my current city I know it like the back of my hand and everytime I return I find something I've never seen before and I take it in and appreciate it
Oh yes..this song really touches your heart, well mine. I'm a native American and I remember how much joy it brought me and I'm cleaning my house..funny but I kept rewinding it. Who sings it and he means it, I play it just to see his voice tremble when he says in Osceola cries. I live in the land of the Seminole, I play the song at lake Thonotosassa
I hunted in the Everglades near Skillet Strand with my father during the late 40's thru 1978 and this song perfectly captures my experiences and love of the Florida Everglades. Those day's are gone forever and Skillet Strand is dry and a far cry from what is was prior to 1960. John's Seminole Wind makes a fitting eulogy for the Everglades like no other.
Congratulations on being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, John Anderson. No one deserves it more!
Agree. John is a sure enough legend. There has never been a better country voice! A proud southern brother from GA. God bless ya!

I was born and raised in California, but I lived in Jacksonville for 7 years in the 90's, and I loved this song when it came out! I loved driving around and visiting places I'd read about, like Cross Creek, St. Augustine... He sounds better live
I just saw him at the Florida Strawberry Festival last night. 3rd time seeing him perform and he is and always will be an amazing songwriter and musician.
Better live, true talent
Get a good solid definition of live. This is not. Lol.
Better. This is the single greatest version of this song. And if you listen close. The piano notes are slightly different, the fiddle is drastically different at open and close from the album version. And my beloved whom i miss was a fiddle player.

I’ve known him since he was 17! Our house was a stopping place for him when he was doing his work! Practically lived here. Always got excited when I saw his car when I got home from school.

I know how you feel. Good luck to you Sir
I'm 86 and born and raised in the area of Wimauma and you should see it now. People, people and more people. Breaks my heart.
Sad to see what they did to our state😢 John says it all!!!!
SING IT LOUD JOHN!!!!!
I remember Orlando when it was a sleepy citrus town.
The Disney Disaster ruined everything!
I'm a proud FL native. Tears in my eyes. Thank you Mr. Anderson. I miss the good ol' days.
Back when you could feel a song in your bones
And your heart.
You are so right
Bones and heart, every time!
Good to here this song brings back good old times
... I remember hearing this song on the school bus years ago...anyone else?
And this man and group should get some kind of award from the CMA for his voice and this composition too! Thank you Mr. Anderson
Todays disposable country pop cant create anything remotely as great as this.
IF country was still like this I would listen
It is! Look for it!!
It is still like this.
Me too
Wouldn't we all!
Amen brother ben
The feeling of calling on the spirit of the defenders of the land. It’s mournful but hopeful we can come together before it’s all lost.
Absolutely!!! We need to be ready to defend this beautiful place God gave us. I will personally fight to keep the outsiders out completely 🙏
But to no avail. Big Sugar continues to kill the Glades and big government allows them to do it.
First heard this song in a little rural town in Canada, well my life brought me to Florida watching Chief Osceola with FSU.
Everytime i hear this song i get goose bumps . I LOVE being American and living on this land !!!!
One of the greatest country songs EVER!
One of the Greatest songs PERROID
I agree
You know it.
My wife's uncle passed away last month. They played this song at the service, and it was amazing. Oddly spectacular. RIP David Brown, Vietnam Veteran 🇺🇸☝️🎹🎸🎤🎻
Absolutely!
This song speaks to my heart. The fiddle solo makes me feel like my father is still here, playing his beautiful music, once again.
@John Anderson Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, Mr. Anderson. May God blessyou, and keep you.
Seminole Wind is one of the best country music songs ever written. Haunting and beautiful.....it touches my soul.

I'm in Montana and will never see it again. It grieves me.
One of the best songs of all time...any genre.I like doing it bluegrass style.
One of the best songs ever recorded and unfortunately one of the most overlooked. This song is so real as is the story it tells.

..Totally agree....How could someone sit down and invent this song....??...uncanny...
Linda Fields unfortunately you're 100% correct, just the emotion of this song makes it great let alone the great lyrics and music
Oh yes..this song really touches your heart, well mine. I'm a native American and I remember how much joy it brought me and I'm cleaning my house..funny but I kept rewinding it. Was a teen then now I'm an elder..funny I was watching my granddaughter do the same..same song. Still playing that awesome song..

Hello 👋 Jennifer. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
War chief Osceola, Whose spirit cries out over the destruction of the Land..."Seminole Wind".🌬️... Congratulations-Mr.Anderson! Country Music hall of fame..2024..🎶🎼🎵..🌄..🕊️...

Love this song....
