Greatest country song ever. My dad was a truck driver and got to ride with him to Amarillo when I was 8. First tape was “Ocean Front Property”. I used to put tape on and act like I was George singing with my brother and sister sitting around the bed. Unbelievable talent.
What makes George the greatest is that he's the most pure. He doesn't need a big expensive show, just put him in front of a microphone with the spotlight on and that's all he needs because he's that great of a singer.
The cream of the crop doesn't need gimmicks to draw an audience. Some people (like George Straight) are simply a gift to us all, filled with pure, natural talent. How lucky we are that he is a part of our generation.

My family traveled to New Mexico every summer. One year my precious Granny went with us and kept asking my mom what's this next town we're heading to? Beautiful memories, and a beautiful song. ❤🙏

I think of my wife when I hear this song. It was her favorite song before she lost battling cancer. I wish I could change the hands of time. She was always there for me and our lovely daughter. This is such a beautiful song. This is part of George Strsit. His voice makes the song what it is. The lyrics and music are fantadtic. This is the why he is called the King of Country Music
Terry Stafford's words and George Straight's delivery perfectly convey the pain, loss, and futility of the cowboy chasing his dream. By the time that fiddle comes in at the end, if your eyes aren't welling up, you weren't paying attention.
I remember so well when Adam Lambert, on "american idol" could just not find a country song to sing. Not his thing you know, what a clown to not realize there are tons of songs like this from the country anthology, he could have "found it in himself" to sing.

Of course George is great, but his band, goodness! They are absolutely top notch musicians. Love this song!
Amazingly smooth transitions, they're so good.
@George strait close to Charlotte North Carolina thanks George
There's nothing like San Antonio, Tx and George Strait. 😻kat
I'm Brazilian but when I listen to this song I feel like a simple Texan cowboy with a dream of being a rodeo champion
Only artist I have ever seen live that doesn’t have to go above and beyond with dramatics. He sings and the song takes it from there. God Bless King George

Always love hearing King George. This is true country. 2022 still listening
I appreciate your love towards me, hope you won't stop liking my aspirations?
I definitely agree with that
My dad used to listen to him all the time. I always feel like I'm singing with him when I listen to George.
I don't know about George being king. Whenever I hear King George, I always think of George Jones. Don't get me wrong George Strait is great, but George Jones will ALWAYS be #1 in my musical repitore!!
@@ellet4103 thanks for being a great fans of my father
I would like to introduce you to my father but firstly know more about you if you don't mind ???
Nobody in the world wears Wranglers like George 💞 and his voice is of angels!🥰
George is so perfect, his guitar, his hat, his long sleeve shirts and his voice, be still my heart, and that fiddle player, big ups! I wanted to see him this weekend, but my Dr. said no, so I have to watch on You Tube.
😊😊I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves the song but when last did you play it.
Hi Ellen
If I had the chance to see G.S. no Dr could keep me away.🤷♀️
Your doctor's only job is to keep you alive and tell you to do whatever he things will foster that. It's YOUR job to live. Being alive but not living....not my thing but you do you. UA-cam is a decent fill-in I suppose.
Nice song by George... your comment is very interesting to view, i hope you are doing well??
My favorite country song of all time ❤️
@George strait your welcome thanks
Thank his long voice right
One of my favorite country songs forever! ❤❤❤
I ain’t rich but Lord l’m Free . What a line What a song

Love this song and that fiddle is so awesome! Gives me goosebumps.
George this song is just magnificent!
It’s one of your very best and a favorite of mine!!!
How are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song
The level of professionalism on this live performance is exceptional! Love it…
Not bad for a cover.
the crying of the fiddle hits me hard every time
I got my degree in audio engineering in 1975. I've done a lot of live recording over the years, but this one's a beautiful. Just excellent sound quality!
One violin lesson and I quit !!!
Taught you everything you know, but not everything they know.
One of the greatest country songs of all time.
No light show, no explosions but it grabs your heart and soul.
Its called talent !!
Yes! He just stands there and sings, and is amazing! As a performer and a person.
TRUE Talent , Real Musicians (WHO) harmonized their voices Pleasantly -----Don't need all that FLASH, Explosions, (audible attention deverters -pitiful voice covers). You know, When You can actually understand each english word they say with hamony).
Real country about real people
👍
Tim you are a wonderful person and I think you are a great singer , I love country music . A fan from the UK ,,God bless keep this beautiful music going .
I remember this concert. I was in the crowd with my momma and daddy. Was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. George is the epitome of troubadour.
Kool 😊
Still listening in 2020! Will never be another King George! Ever! He’s still rock in’ those starched wranglers and Stetsons! A man’s man.
what is in that shirt with him.he could not be comfortable
2021
Still listening in 2021, it heals my soul.
Greatest country song ever. My dad was a truck driver and got to ride with him to Amarillo when I was 8. First tape was “Ocean Front Property”. I used to put tape on and act like I was George singing with my brother and sister sitting around the bed. Unbelievable talent.
His voice and that violin PERFECTION
What makes George the greatest is that he's the most pure. He doesn't need a big expensive show, just put him in front of a microphone with the spotlight on and that's all he needs because he's that great of a singer.
👊 bump this shit
fuckin' A man couldn't have said it better myself
Have loved George for many years!
what makes him up there with the greatest is that he will tell you that Merle Haggard was the greatest country singer ever.
The cream of the crop doesn't need gimmicks to draw an audience. Some people (like George Straight) are simply a gift to us all, filled with pure, natural talent. How lucky we are that he is a part of our generation.
What a song what a song WHAT A FREAKING SONG!!!! Ladies and gents this is country
This song, as well as many others by George Strait, has gotten me through some tough times. It speaks to my soul in such a beautiful, evocative way.
Don’t forget Terry Stafford and Paul Fraser who wrote it
Thanks for the love and support
How long have you been my fan ?
This is THE song that made me a George Strait fan. And it's still my favorite of his.
i live in boston........found this song two years ago....after Ken Burns.....i listen to it almost every saturday night. i pray for everybody in Texas during this cold nightmare
I'm from Boston and I moved to Texas in 1978..and lord I'm free...

Love this kind of country music. The best
It's August of 2024 and I still think George is great.

Yes sir!!!!
Amen to that!!
He’s the GOAT

Love Amarillo by morning, classic country song. Hats off to the extremely talented "George Strait".
I came to Country music very late in my life, but George Strait is one reason I'm still enjoying this journey
Best song I've ever heard..in along time love Texas lived and worked the oilfield in the 70s thank you George Strait ☘️💜☘️💜☘️💜🇺🇲✨️🇺🇸
My family traveled to New Mexico every summer. One year my precious Granny went with us and kept asking my mom what's this next town we're heading to? Beautiful memories, and a beautiful song. ❤🙏

I have loved this song by George Strait for decades. It was this song I admitted out loud in a room of people I love country music.
Years as an Over the Road Driver. This song would get me from Cally (LA) to Amarillo in a heartbeat! Thanks George !🥰
I’ve done it, I could pick up WBAP from Ft Worth hundreds of miles down I-20 and I could pick up KOMA in Oklahoma City all the way to LA. But I wasn’t in a truck just traveling.
George Strait...a man with endless talent. God truly blessed Mr Strait! Have a good week, George! I'll be praying for safe travels. Love Jenny
I think of my wife when I hear this song. It was her favorite song before she lost battling cancer. I wish I could change the hands of time. She was always there for me and our lovely daughter. Life can be so unfair most of the time, but sometimes I wonder why bad things always happen to good people
I was 17 when I first heard this in 80s and was hooked on country music from then on ❤❤
Damn, how I love hearing a violin in a country song.
mathew idicula we call it a fiddle in country music
Yeah, but this guy isn't fiddling around.
true
that is why CHARLIE DANIELS is also AWESOME
Same here.
First listening to George Strait.....I can see why so many might love his sweet, gentle tunes...
He's had 60 number one hits! You have a lot of catching up to do. ;-)

Country songs don't get much better than this folks. I can listen to this 100 times and I'll want to listen again.
If I had to choose ten country songs from over my lifetime this would absolutely be in that top ten ! Beautiful song !
Hope you don't stop liking my aspirations?
I agree! This is the definitive song for a road trip through Texas on a sunny day.
This is my favorite song. Totally awesome and when George Strait sings the song it's just goes to the top.
This is such a beautiful song. This is part of George Strsit. His voice makes the song what it is. The lyrics and music are fantadtic. This is the why he is called the King of Country Music
Thanks for the love and support
How long have you been my fan ?
@@GeorgeStraitt-cy9zk at least 25 years or konger
I never get tired of this song. I listen to it over and over
Terry Stafford's words and George Straight's delivery perfectly convey the pain, loss, and futility of the cowboy chasing his dream. By the time that fiddle comes in at the end, if your eyes aren't welling up, you weren't paying attention.
Well said
George como você é lindo, amo ❤suas músicas 🎶, te admiro
You only have to hear it once to realize this is an absolutely great song, irrespsctive of whic genre of msic you enjoy the most. Great job Mr Strait!
I remember so well when Adam Lambert, on "american idol" could just not find a country song to sing. Not his thing you know, what a clown to not realize there are tons of songs like this from the country anthology, he could have "found it in himself" to sing.
You are so right. I am in 🇬🇧 and discovered this song last night and have now played it about 20 times since!
