🚨MAJOR SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE VIDEO🚨 Watch this video on Nebula: nebula.tv/videos/altschwiftx-the-end-of-hotd-dragon-time-with-schwift-and-glidus?ref=glidus I posted a lot of music on my second channel this month just by the way just quietly just saying www.youtube.com/@glimbus THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE VIDEO I MEANT TO RELEASE ON HALLOWEEN YES IT IS
I just renewed Nebula 2 days ago because I needed to hear this and then you put it on YT for free. So now I’m going to have to listen to the fake John snow for a 4th time to justify my subscription. Praying to the old gods and the new that more Nebula releases will be forthcoming. It’s my birthday 27 November and a Glidus Blisstake Season 2 is top of my wishlist. Pretty please. Thank you muchly. Edit: no pressure, I know it’s a lofty wish. Thank you for all your videos. They’re extremely entertaining.
What if Rhaenyra, our dear Maegor with tits, kills Haelena in anger after Helaena told her something from the future. I felt like the Aemond + Haelena scene was building Helaenas death. I think it would be grusam but cool
@@guwopzyAegon talks to Sunfyre in English instead of Valyrian. The jokes just that Aegon is too lazy to control his penis but is stubborn enough to teach Sunfyre english
dragon time has been a breath of fresh air in the fandom you guys have such great nuanced, fair, and thoroughly entertaining conversations that clearly show your love and enthusiasm for asoiaf, just incredibly thoughtful work that is sorely needed I do hope at least one person in the writing staff somehow manages to watch these, not just for the feedback but so they can also see the great conversations the show has inspired prayer circle for 20 more episodes and no more budget gatekeeping
I think a big mistake the writers are making is thinking that Rhaenyra and Alycent talking to each other is what most people want to see and therefore they shoehorn situations for them to talk, when in actuality this should be the reason for not writing situations in which they meet, make the viewer really long for it, instead of just pushing that button repeatedly until they are annoyed. I also always wished for Starks to meet up, but that was only special, because we didn’t get it often
This is a good point. Alicent's crazy plot to have a climactic conversation with Rhaenyra is undercut by Rhaenyra's earlier crazy plot to have a climactic conversation with Alicent. Future climactic conversations may also be undercut by these.
It honestly shocks me they thought they needed to contrive it the way they did when you could follow the actual book plot and have those scenes organically in S3. But then again the writers think that Rhaenyra and Alicent friendship is the main story so I'm not really confident they would have done that well either.
My head cannon for Ulf thinking he’s a Targaryen is pulled straight from HIMYM. There was a portrait of Baelon up and Ulf was asking who his dad was and his mom just pointed at the portrait and said, “Uh, that guy.”
When Aemond told Haelena "I could have you killed" "It wouldn't change anything" I thought he was going to push her from that balcony right then. I always thought Haelena's "sucicide" is like Lysa's, "oh she was crazy, she jumped" They were both murdered.
Yo Glidus, thanks for the subtle shoutout in your edit about Harold Westerling. Its hilarious, barely 24 hours ago I was listening to this same video on patreon. I wasn't expecting the public version to be released in record speed, and I knew you may have made some edits, but I didn't think I'd be included. That's super cool. #FromHarryToGary
Well it was a keen observation and a good suggestions, and I figured "when the hell else are we going to talk about Garibald Grey" so it made sense to put it in here 👍
@@GlidusHell yeah brother. I think your videos are just fantastic. I really vibe with the way you approach analyzing character's motivations and actions, and how easily you draw parallels between people or situations that most people wouldn't think of, including me sometimes. You just seem like a cool, intelligent dude. (Your patience with Shwift and his bonkers theories while his mouth is moving a mile a minute, my goodness) Commendable to say the least. Ain't no way. Anyways bro, you and Shwift should absolutely watch Dragon BallZ on stream one day like Shwift mentioned in the fake Jon Snow. All the cool people would love it. Keep grinding bro. I reckon I'll holler at ya in a few months or so.😂
It’s SO satisfying being able to 1. Hear you two talk freely about spoilers 2. Not have to worry about spoilers in the comments (but to be safe we still should) I think George’s post was a passionate man desperately lashing out upon releasing that he could see his legacy tarnished even more than it has been. I don’t like how George said what he said, but I think there’s a lot of merit to some of it. Just to pick one example I think Nettles is super important to ASOIAF’s story as a whole. Nettles represents that to be important you don’t need to be born special and you don’t need fancy blood (though it is definitely possible she has Targaryen blood, fire and blood seems to frame it as if she DEFINITELY doesn’t, which could admittedly be in world racism by the maesters). If the intention was to have Nettles be a non Targaryen character use their intelligence, persistence, and courage to tame a dragon, then I think it is probably meant to be a precedent for Tyrion riding a dragon in Winds/Dream. It also adds more complexity to dragon lore because it’s said that they are very intelligent, but accepting a non Valyrian rider I think shows even more discernment and emotional intelligence. Instead of that, we get a weird happy baked Rhaena storyline. Overall I still really enjoyed season 2 but for non nerds like me I understand why they wouldn’t be satisfied with what they got.
I think all that’s totally justified. But his post about dragons still made absolutely no sense given what he has actually written, and did feel very much like a Rowling move. If he was unhappy about losing Nettles, he should just have said that, and explained why, rather than making up some new lore out of head and then condemning HotD for not having followed it.
Another theory I’ve seen is that IF they do show Alicent’s death in the very end, they’ll change the words she says in her deathbed to mention reading with Rhaenyra instead of Jahaerys because that’s what they did as kids and they never said that show Alicent read for Jahaerys
Makes a lot of sense, I don’t even think show Alicent was old enough to read when Jahaerys died, meanwhile we’ve literally SEEN Alicent & Rhaenyra reading together, and that page about Nymeria from that book has literally been used to symbolize the friendship trust and love they once had for one another. Good change imo
@ yess exactly!! It’d also be a beautiful conclusion to the story, sort of a full circle moment with the last ‘main character’ dying and all. Sure, timeline wise Alicent dies quite a bit later in the book but tbh I don’t think it matters enough to not move it forward since her death had no effect in the books at that timing anyway
Yeah she would've been barely old enough to read by the time Old Joe died, let alone read TO him. Though tbh that would be an interesting twist to it lmao. Like instead of it being Alicent comforting this poor dying king it's just one of those outreach projects to help increase kids reading confidence by reading to retirees
There were like five different changes this season that are going to make my favorite battle of the war, Tumbleton, even better. Hugh's wife being there and Otto potentially taking the place of Ormund Hightower are two incredible potential sources of drama, and I can't want to see it during season 4(?). GET HYPE
Gilbus has done great this year on posting. I get there is a lot of pressure but man I’d def be fine waiting a bit extra for 4 hours of content. 10/10 man.
David Szlalszlav is an actively bad person and a bad businessman. With no remorse or second thought I will easily blame him for any overarching structural problems in the show that simply didn't have to happen if HBO allowed the people to make the thing they're making. He was awful everywhere else he's been, he's awful here.
I guess it has something to do with the point Glidus and Alt-Schwift-X make in the video about people with funny names having to overcompensate with cruelty...
This reasoning makes no sense. You can blame DZ for the 8 episode season or whatever financial constraints the show experienced, but DZ did not force the writers to write so many of these stupid scenes. Sometimes writers just write bad stuff, it happens quite often.
@@Glidus but the reason why GRRM named ryan condol in his post is because ryan assured him that they would maelor later on in the season. but that didnt happen so from GRRM's perspective, ryan condol straight up lied to his face, and i get it. bitterbridge isnt an important scene as compared to other stuff so that will be cut 100% and zaslav probably told him to remove it but cmon, its still ryan's fault by a long margin
also i just wanted to say i definitely agree about the white washing of every female character.. having read F&B, i was looking forward to seeing "Cersei"-esque characters portrayed, villainous, narcississtic, self-serving, self-sabotaging... but instead we just get hand-wringing and whinging and as a woman jfc it's so disappointing.... there is no complexity, they just become one dimensional and it's very boring...
1:30:17 The sword that Roxton uses is actually called Orphan-Maker which is the edgiest name ever for a Valyrian Steel sword, even more than Widows Wail.
During the last behind the scenes section, I think it was Sarah Hess who said something along the lines of “At the end of the day, this whole war is just about two gal pals who need to sit down and talk it out.” I actually got mad when I heard that. Like, you’ve either entirely missed every single point of the story given to you, or you’ve chosen to accept the headcanon you’ve made while creating the show to the point where you don’t know know where the show ends and your opinions begin.
Sarah Hess is a bit of a hack writer. She's the person who came up with the brilliant idea of having Rhaenys commit mass murder and thinking it was a girl boss move instead of a war crime
@@matt_9112yeah, but the two weren't even friends in the book, so summing the conflict up as friends who need to talk, rather than a fundamental flaw in the cycle of power, is a bit foolish
1:04:11 Jon Snow goes to Skagos and claims The Cannibal, who through eating so many dragons has awakened immense psychic power. Proving he is the chosen one because he’s woken the sleepy old psychopathic grandpa dragon from stone.
In the worst week of my life this is a really welcome distraction. Thank you again both of you for all the hard work you put into making these things. It’s been real nice to have something else to think about.
My big prediction is that the guy who had his hand chopped off by the Kingsguard as he was trying to get close to Helaena is the one who's gonna become the Shepherd.
In season 3 he will have his other arm chopped off, then in season 4 he will get both hands replaced with metal hands, and then in WBDPHBOAGOTTHKAKOTSK season 3 after credits he will meet Bloodraven who remark on his Cold Hands, setting up a Coldhands anime spinoff that ties into the Yi Ti show
I think since they replace Nettles with Rhaena, instead of having a super ambiguous relationship between Daemon and Nettles, we might get an arc where Daemon and Rhaena bond and Daemon learns how to be a good father and mentor to her.
This was exactly what I thought the moment the idea of Rhaena replacing Nettles came up. I was surprised they didn't talk about it and instead of talked about her dying at the Gullet
@@aeronblakefyre yeah and I could see Rhaenyra’s vendetta towards Rhaena leading to a scene or two where she is hiding amongst small folk in some town or another, putting dye in her hair to disguise it, and going by the pseudonym “Nettles”.
as someone who hasn’t read the book, the Alphred Broom stuff made perfect sense. The Traitor felt like it was talking about him trying to join Daemon and him talking about being loyal is jumping to Daemon. He was surprisingly good without the context of the future of the plot.
I disagree, he seems to openly disrespect Rhaenyra from the start which begs the question why on earth he suported her in the first place and why she even had him on the council in the first place as he is not even an important lord. The characters don't seem to respect each other from the beggining. They should have made the rift between them more gradual and should have had him initially showing respect and deference to Rhaenyra and then growing desilusioned with her. They make the future betrayal too obvious and cartoonish. When Daemon and all the soldiers cheer and declare their allegiance to Rhaenyra instead of playing along and doing the same, he walks away in embarassement, it's as if the show wants to make him a punching bag for the audience.
@TheLokki242 yeah given the creators on there and the experiences some have had... I'll take no comment section if it means we get to keep Lindsey Ellis
13:46 George’s firm head-canon makes it seem like he wrote Fire & Blood as an unambiguous account of the history, then basically ran a nonsense-comb over it to obfuscate the facts and make it more “intriguing”. So in his mind he has the actual history and he assumes everyone is working off that, not realizing that when you add 2 alternate facts to every line in the book it turns the entire thing into a choose-your-own-adventure novel instead of a history book..
@@masterplokoon8803 I was referring to the instances Glidus was talking about where George was speaking as if there was a single, clear reason that something happened (like Helaena’s death) when he actually wrote many possible reasons in the book to muddy the waters. I adjusted the timestamp ~15 seconds earlier to make that clearer.
@@Chris_Myers. one doesn't need to wonder much about why Helaena died. She was already broken after Jaehaerys' death and Maelor's demise was the final straw. Literally the only versions is that she was murdered by Rhaenyra (which is highly unlikely and not beneficial for Rhaenyra) or commited suicide out of grief for Maelor. Sorry but Glidus' arguement doesn't make sense and the writers went out of their way to make Helaena not give a crap about Jaehaerys' death since she got over it after one episode. This is not the writers trying their best to adapt the book, it's them trying to ignore it as much as possible to write their own fanfictionm
George's changing opinion over the course of season 2's airing could be very well explained by HBO having previously lied to him about the episodes when he initially raised these concerns privately, only to find out the truth as the show actually aired. If that's what happened, then I can understand why it seems he's taking it so personally.
2:20:58 in hindsight it feels like the showrunners didn't want to make Rhaenyra look bad by killing Laenor, so they copped out and had him live, just for him to be conveniently dead for some other reason when they needed Adam to claim seasmoke
@@sadieofficialreal well Laenor was a named character that was humanized in previous episodes, the peasant was an unnamed character with mere seconds of screentime so the audience wouldn't condemn the killing as much, plus the whole thing was framed as Rhaenyra freeing Laenor from his miserable life and letting him live as he wished. The writers of the show have acted more as Rhaenyra's PR team than as people adapting a story from a book.
@@masterplokoon8803 It does seem that way right now, hoping they're doing something similar to what they did with Aemond, having him start as a normal bullied kid who kills Luke accidentally and having him evolve into the more calculating psycho we see in Season 2 over time. Hopefully they're doing this with Rhaenyra also, having her start as a good intentioned ruler and we'll see her evolve into a more cruel and unreliable ruler once she has the throne in Season 3 but that's probably just wishful thinking. I do think that the Black's constant disregard for the peasant's can't be unintentional and that they're hopefully cooking with it. Perhaps Rhaenys' trampling of innocents at the Dragonpit might actually have some narrative significance once the Smallfolk revolt and Rhaenyra has to reckon with how poorly she's treated them (Killing the servant, starving the peasants of King's Landing, claiming that the Smallfolk's wants are "of no consequence"). Especially with how Aegon is seen being genuinely kind to the smallfolk and trying his best to help them, and of course with Larys' speech of the people seeing him as the true King when he returns, I do think that they're cooking with Rhaenyra and Aegon and that we'll see Rhaenyra actually answer for her crimes against the Smallfolk which hopefully will get the Team Black superfans to rewatch and realize Rhaenyra isn't just the HOTD version of "Khaleesi" but a more complex and flawed character, just as flawed as Aegon.
I mean Daenerys was born in 183 A.C. So 183-130=153 while 183-170=113. You’re both around 20 years out from 130-133 A.C which is when the civil war takes place.
Dude, I'm with you guys on a lot of this, and my one comment is I would be thrilled if Harld Westman came back at all because I think Graham McTavish is fantastic in anything he's in haha. He was low-key great in season 1, and I've wanted him back ever since!
Thank you for providing the edited down highlights free of charge, I don't know if I could handle it if I had to pay and was also forced to watch the whole unabridged ramble.
They're going to trim a LOT out for the 16 eps. There are several land battles they will skip or conflate because 1): expensive 2): repetitive (to execs at least). They'll only include essentials: 1 Gullet 2 Blacks take Kings Landing 3 One generic land battle on screen 4 One or more land battles off screen 5 Hugh/Ulf betrayal 6 Battle over the gods eye 7. Storming the Dragonpit 8 Rhaenya leaving KL and getting killed 9 Aegon II dying 10 Cragen puts Aegon III on throne
In my mind what they’re doing with Rhaena is that maybe Rhaenyra will blame Rhaena for the death/capture of viserys and she’ll want her dead and Daemon will protect her as he protects Nettles in the books. That is what would make Daemon realise how Rhaenyra is changing so he becomes resigned to dying in a face-off with Aemond, fulfilling these visions while still exercising a level of free will, also having kinda protected Rhaena, rounding out Laena asking him in the vision if he’s been looking after their daughters. Just an idea.
Just arrived at my new house after work to do some renovating and this just dropped in time for me to listen to while i paint some walls. Amazing timing Glimbo❤
I was supposed to be studying for an exam. Pulled an all nighter, then at 2 am this popped up. Sad to say the exam today didn’t go well, but my soul is so much bigger!
I'm holding onto (likely poorly placed) hope that nettles has already bonded with sheep stealer and we're going to be introduced to her via her stopping sheepstealer from burning this girl who just stumbled into their space.
I don’t entirely love Schwifty’s notion that people are only mad about the changes made to Alicent at the end of the season because it deviates from the book or contradicts their own headcanon - I think even just taking the show on its own, in isolation, some of Alicent’s decisions and motivations seem truly baffling and contradictory to her own earlier characterization. Although this is a problem that goes back to season 1 and the whole switcharoo with the misinterpreted prophecy, in my opinion. But I do get and agree that folks on Twitter are WAY too heated about it, in both directions.
It’s very clearly an example of strawmanning the argument. I didn’t see basically anyone using that as an argument on why they didn’t like what was done with Alicent. He’s been having a lot of bad takes and way too much sympathy and steelmanning for the production of these shows. Instead of critiquing things now he just wants everyone to accept it for what it is because we “got more Westeros” or some shit. He’s clearly fallen off.
after season 1 i convinced my family and friends to tune in for season 2. that it would be great, and would make them love GOT again. i have never looked like such a fool.
I wish I had more sympathy for GRRM, but even back in 2012, when reading his Acknowledgements in ADWD, he seemed to have been aware that he has a problem, and that problem is not having the self-control to listen to his editor.
I feel like Jace was one character in particular who really got done dirty and I wish we got to see more of him in his diplomat era. Cregan coming in at the end would hit harder if they'd actually shown them becoming friends and the Gullet won't hit the same. I think my #1 complaint about this season is that characters who were actually doing things at this point in the book barely got any screen time for the sake of scenes with Rhaenyra, Daemon, and Alicent where they don't actually do a whole lot. Rhaenyra being hesitant would have felt less annoying and repetitive if it wasn't in EVERY episode. Iirc, the book also seemed to imply that part of her being MIA was bc she was recovering from the stillbirth and grieving, which would've made more sense imo. The sneaky meet-up scenes were also particularly unnecessary not only bc they were stupid but also bc they're literally about to be in the same place!
I think what we're seeing in Season 2 is something that wasn't able to be completed or refined because of the conditions of the writers' strike, which I consider more than worth it. My preferred scenario would be to allow them to pause production until the strike was resolved, and I don't really know who to blame for that, but I think the showrunners, actors and crew were doing the best they could with a difficult situation and I'm really happy with what they accomplished. I agree that Ep. 2 is maybe the best episode so far in this or even in GOT. I could feel it even as I was watching it for the first time. Perfect.
i agree. idk if the writer's strike and the s2 production timeline match up, but if that is the case i think it's fine. i may not love this season but i'd rather get a 1-2 year blip of mediocre stuff than have talented creatives getting underpayed and replaced with bots because of horrifyingly dumb contract clauses for the next however many years
I would’ve loved a scene in Harrenhal if we got to see a flashback of Daemon’s youth. If we could’ve seen young Daemon and Viserys and their genuine brotherly love that could help us understand his love for Viserys which is one of his defining character traits. We also could see his relationship with his parents without the incest
I think there are things to like about HotD as it is right now with two seasons, but I really don’t see how it can follow the same story as Fire & Blood without a drastic overhaul of everyone’s motivations/actions/circumstances. GRRM has given GoT and HotD a lot of grace before, and I think he respects changes and delineations if they still make for good storytelling, so perhaps what he heard for S3 was not very good storytelling. It IS nonsensical for Heleana to commit suicide for no reason, the tv writers really can’t even come up with a new reason? I think GRRM fears that he’s seeing the same things that caused GoT to slide into dogshit, terrible pacing, stale characters/character development, and wandering plots that go nowhere. GRRM isn’t the first author who dislikes the adaptation of his work, and he won’t be the last, but I’ve never seen an author face such vitriol and speculation because of it. There really is a spectrum between people who think GRRM is making an unnecessary fuss and those who feel vindicated about hating HotD. Sure we can talk about author’s intentions and death of the author, but I think it’s sad that GRRM keeps believing in HBO’s promises when they clearly will never deliver. HBO’s priority is money, not quality.
This and I really don’t understand it and what worse it’s from some of the people I thought will have similar thoughts to his. I mean yes F&B is a conflicting book of accounts but idk about you it’s pretty obvious and easy to pick and choose with much certainty which is more likely to be true or not. I mean it what historians do today we don’t have perfectly unbiased detailed accounts from every event in history we look at the accounts take into account bias, believability, other accounts and source and determine which is more accurate to believe as fact which I feel F&B does especially in some situations in Dance. People and the showrunner/writers have used this unreliable narrator point to ultimately change things that are genuine improbable to be made up and they have done it so much that this story feels actually worse than the worse interpretation of the book events.
The love you both share for George is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen and heard and I believe that no matter what George’s legacy lives through you both but not that bastard filth alt shift. LONG LIVE SCHWIFT
oh gods know I have waited DAY AND NIGHT FOR THIS VIDEO, so much so I just got this notification buying smokes at the servo, for 79$ a pouch my disappointment was immense, this notification singly handed turned that around. Huge ups mate
If they stick to four seasons as announced, my god is the pace about to pick up. The others only know what the budget for seasons 3 and 4 will have to look like. Because I can pretty easily think of FOURTEEN big things that can each be the centerpoint of an episode just fine (of a total of 16-20 episodes), them in chronological order being, Gullet (d), Honeywine (d), fall of KL (d), Lannister battles at Red fork and fishfeed, butcher's ball, ironborn attacks, 1st Tumbleton (d), taking of dragonstone (d), God's eye (d), KL uprising and dragonpit storming (d), 2nd Tumbleton (d), death of Rhaenyra (d), re-taking of KL, Muddy mess, death of Aegon, hour of the wolf. ((d) means there's a dragon on-screen during that event) With the Aegon III/Jaehera wedding being the final 10 minutes to end the show on. Now for those counting that's 16, but they can have both Honeywine and the ironborn attacks happen offscreen which imo would be fine. But even so, that's 14 "big things" that are kind of critical to the story, with 5 big dragonbattles (Gullet, 1st Tumbleton, God's eye, dragonpit, 2nd Tumbleton), 1 small one (dragonstone) and 2 other moments where dragons at least have to be rendered (fall of KL and death of Rhaenyra) even if they don't really do anything expensive, as well as 4 conventional but major army battles (Red Fork, fishfeed, Butcher's ball, Muddy mess). Only Aegon's death and the hour of the wolf are calm and cheap and "easy" by comparison. So yeah, HBO, if you want to tell this story in 2 more seasons and not infuriate the fans, that's now what you're looking at thanks to your penny-clinging, chopping of 2 episodes this season and pushing the Gullet. 6 dragonbattles and 4 army battles over two seasons. Better look for some change in the couch cussions, you're gonna need it.... My best guess/hope is they'll end season 3 with Aegon taking Dragonstone to contrast opening the season with Rhaenyra taking KL in ep. 2 (after the Gullet in ep. 1), as that neatly divides the dragon battles in half while getting 3 of the 4 land battles out of the way, so that season 4 can really focus on the God's eye and 2nd Tumbleton, as those two events are probably the most difficult, most epic and most expensive setpieces to make, and so they really should get the attention they deserve. Here's to hoping that something like this is what they'll do.
When you doubt Rhaena and Daemon may go down the "book" way with their type of relationship just remember the visions Daemon had in Harrenhall about his mother... Isn't that foreshadowing? This mother/son-father/daughter dynamic has certainly been shown before.
Listened to it on Nebula yesterday. I absolutely 100% agree with Schwifty that Kat will have something to do with Hugh's betrayal. She'll be captured or something.
I think the idea is to take Daemon's father-daughter relationship with Nettles and transfer it to Rhaena. She goes from being totally ignored to being her father's favorite. I don't know where it goes from there, and I hope Nettles hasn't been cut, but that's the best outcome I can see for Rhaena riding Sheepstealer.
A part of me feels like they’re gonna hear all of the backlash and since we never saw Rhaena claim sheep-stealer the next season will retcon and nettles will like come from behind sheep-stealer, I’ve gone insane.
24:41 on #6, I think we can clearly see that Rhaena wil not die at the Gullet, but instead will take Nettles role. I think the books and especially the show imply that Daemon has some regrets about not being a good father to his children, and Nettles is his attempt to compensate for that by taking someone under his wing. I think Rhaena taking Sheepstealer is a pretty clear class show strategy of combining characters that play a similar role in some aspect, instead making it so that Daemon is making amends for being a bad father and trying to step up, but with a similar conflict as we see between Alyn and Corlys because Rhaena probably will have some frustration that, at least to her, it took her becoming a dragonrider (with a much harder path than Baela) to finally be recognized and treated as a daughter.
Plus, with Rhaena having abandoned Aegon and Viserys to claim a dragon (Likely partially motivated by wanting approval from Daemon) it gives an actual reason for Rhaenyra to dislike Rhaena and Daemon's newfound closeness since what it took for Daemon to start to spend time with Rhaena was her abandoning Rhaenyra's children which in Rhaenyra's mind lead to their deaths since everyone assumes Viserys is dead after the Gullet. Rhaenyra will see Daemon spending time with and actually beginning to care about and love Rhaena because of her worst act, an act that makes him see himself in her and this will turn Rhaenyra further against the two of them and motivate Daemon to go off in a huff again to face Aemond at the God's Eye. I feel like that's a lot more of a realistic, dramatic and actually complex motivation than the one we got in the books for Rhaenyra's dislike for Nettles, far more in line with this version of Rhaenyra than just "Woman jealous because husband spend time with other woman, orders that womans death".
@@sadieofficialreal Rhaena can't do anything against a Triarchy fleet without a dragon. If she went with the kids she would be simply get captured. That being the reason Rhaenyra is angry at her doesn't make sense.

THOUGHTLESS !
FECKLESS !
Truuuuuuuue
It honestly shocks me they thought they needed to contrive it the way they did when you could follow the actual book plot and have those scenes organically in S3. But then again the writers think that Rhaenyra and Alicent friendship is the main story so I'm not really confident they would have done that well either.
i think a big mistake the writers are making is writing bad scripts
"He's made of swords the same way the iron throne is" is such a great line in the context of Aemond's lean pointy angular whipcord-strength body

I think George’s post was a passionate man desperately lashing out upon releasing that he could see his legacy tarnished even more than it has been.
OOF that is so good
Yeah she would've been barely old enough to read by the time Old Joe died, let alone read TO him.
Though tbh that would be an interesting twist to it lmao. Like instead of it being Alicent comforting this poor dying king it's just one of those outreach projects to help increase kids reading confidence by reading to retirees

This reasoning makes no sense. You can blame DZ for the 8 episode season or whatever financial constraints the show experienced, but DZ did not force the writers to write so many of these stupid scenes. Sometimes writers just write bad stuff, it happens quite often.

During the last behind the scenes section, I think it was Sarah Hess who said something along the lines of “At the end of the day, this whole war is just about two gal pals who need to sit down and talk it out.”

as someone who hasn’t read the book, the Alphred Broom stuff made perfect sense.

Great way to put it!
@@Chris_Myers. didn't know that Maelor existing is head canon.
@@Chris_Myers. lol yah. Nettles existing was *definitely* ambiguous.
If that's what happened, then I can understand why it seems he's taking it so personally.
finally we got a spoiler vid
2:20:58 in hindsight it feels like the showrunners didn't want to make Rhaenyra look bad by killing Laenor, so they copped out and had him live, just for him to be conveniently dead for some other reason when they needed Adam to claim seasmoke
They made that commentary back in 2022, it isn't really hindsight
but then also had her be complicit in the death of an innocent servant in Laenor's place but that doesn't count ofc he's a peasant
@@sadieofficialrealyeah that’s sort of brushed over with ‘yeah daemon did that by himself, that guys so quirky, you can’t blame rhaenyra’

1:04:04 Oh boy schwift, have I got a theory for you. Have you really never heard of Nettle-nan?
They're going to trim a LOT out for the 16 eps. There are several land battles they will skip or conflate because 1): expensive 2): repetitive (to execs at least). They'll only include essentials:
1 Gullet
2 Blacks take Kings Landing
3 One generic land battle on screen
4 One or more land battles off screen
5 Hugh/Ulf betrayal
6 Battle over the gods eye
7. Storming the Dragonpit
8 Rhaenya leaving KL and getting killed
9 Aegon II dying
10 Cragen puts Aegon III on throne
That intro will be stuck in my head for days...and I'll love every second of it!

But I do get and agree that folks on Twitter are WAY too heated about it, in both directions.
its a horrible take, literally makes no sense at all
It’s very clearly an example of strawmanning the argument.
I wish I had more sympathy for GRRM, but even back in 2012, when reading his Acknowledgements in ADWD, he seemed to have been aware that he has a problem, and that problem is not having the self-control to listen to his editor.
may the spooky valyrian blood gods bless you two for creating these gems of videos
I think George is just telling us to not go to Naath (rip greyworm)
Literally brightened up my day! Thank you for dropping this on Halloween, seriously.
People are going to be so disappointed when they off screen Rhaenyra taking kings landing
That prop book at the end of game of thrones is the only complete copy of ASoIF😂

oh gods know I have waited DAY AND NIGHT FOR THIS VIDEO, so much so I just got this notification buying smokes at the servo, for 79$ a pouch my disappointment was immense, this notification singly handed turned that around. Huge ups mate
If they stick to four seasons as announced, my god is the pace about to pick up. The others only know what the budget for seasons 3 and 4 will have to look like.
Because I can pretty easily think of FOURTEEN big things that can each be the centerpoint of an episode just fine (of a total of 16-20 episodes), them in chronological order being,
Gullet (d), Honeywine (d), fall of KL (d), Lannister battles at Red fork and fishfeed, butcher's ball, ironborn attacks, 1st Tumbleton (d), taking of dragonstone (d), God's eye (d), KL uprising and dragonpit storming (d), 2nd Tumbleton (d), death of Rhaenyra (d), re-taking of KL, Muddy mess, death of Aegon, hour of the wolf. ((d) means there's a dragon on-screen during that event)
With the Aegon III/Jaehera wedding being the final 10 minutes to end the show on.
I'm so happy to hear more from you both. Returning so unexpectedly, better call ya Davos C. Worth.
I think we need to discuss the Elephant in the room. Wtf is Matt Smith pouring out of that teapot, because it sure as hell isn't Tea.
It’s milk. He pours it into the tea. It’s probably a nod to him being British or something
@@wilgefortisohlin568 No Brit would pour milk from a Teapot. It's just . . . unnatural.
The maesters call that *Milk of the puppy*
I think it's milk of the mommy
Matt Smith as Daemon dressed as Aemond will never not be a jump scare even without seeing it.
When you doubt Rhaena and Daemon may go down the "book" way with their type of relationship just remember the visions Daemon had in Harrenhall about his mother... Isn't that foreshadowing? This mother/son-father/daughter dynamic has certainly been shown before.
exactly what i was thinking lol..
God, no, please. I shrug at this weird lizard people incest, but that kind of relationship is my red line.
Listened to it on Nebula yesterday. I absolutely 100% agree with Schwifty that Kat will have something to do with Hugh's betrayal. She'll be captured or something.
@@Kallynthehuntress OR (better IMO), an order Rhaenyra gives will end up getting her killed.
Drink every time Shwift says something “would slap.” 😂
I will undeniably listen to this multiple times
It's time for Dragon Time's spin-off
DRAGONER TIME
I think the idea is to take Daemon's father-daughter relationship with Nettles and transfer it to Rhaena.
I think that Gwayne will survive the butchers ball, join up with Daerons army and kill Ulf instead of Bold Jon Roxton
