Matt Farah should be a character in GTA6. He steals your car keys in the beginning of the mission and you have to chase him up a mountain in the million mile Lexus he left behind.
Whats crazy about that its a lot of peoples favorites. Clean lines, light weight, very torque happy solid easily modifiable engine. The after market makes just about everything for them and you can do just about anything to it.
+Ryan Robinson What if it didn't have to be a foxbody? s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9c/42/77/9c427769136eee3f24f02599452086e5.jpg ??? hmmmm? hmmm?
I didn't realize that it's been 18 months on the total build.....but this is one of the cars that drives my emotions.....kudos to you good sir....you've made me proud
Ahmed Adam yep me too!...I think my idea is just a fancy dream tho,I imagine that Matt isn't much of a video game player....i don't think he ever played the Forza series....so what's up Matt!?...you gonna passed the word on to Turn10?
Ohhh the adidas jacket! You really are a Fox body Mustang driver today! Did you take the Hummer perfume too today?? :D Sorry, I couldn't help it. Love the car btw... Really, REALLY, nice !
I've always loved the fox body, yours is so simple and clean, riveted fenders or not. You sir have built yourself a true gem, I hope you enjoy it for years to come.
Good choice on the dual pass radiator and square 295 setup. Those two things make huge improvement for driving hard, I also had a 50-row oil cooler for 30 minute sessions 195F/195F @ 100F ambient. Dual pass is much more efficient especially on the road course. Square setup, once you get up to 295's, make a HUGE difference, I was running 18X11 315's on my last setup, which finally eliminates understeer(gained about 3-5 seconds from 275's). Last thing I loved was my steering quickner, but your rack looks perfect for a street car. Wrapped the headers with DEI Titainium heat wrap, which eliminated a lot of heat in the engine bay and next to the plug wires. Congrats!
+Meghani Motorsports I just ordered that DEI titanium shit along with ACCEL ceramic spark plug wires. Hopefully that fixes my plug wire boot melting problem.
+TheSmokingTire Definitely should. I use the exhaust heat wrap on every manifold and you can pretty much touch the header after WOT. With modified headers they were super close to all wiring, never melted OEM plug wires or had any issues (30 minute sessions). DEI also makes Fire sleeves for wires, hose etc, if you have something super close and want redundancy. The exhaust heat wrap should be more than sufficient by itself!
+Meghani Motorsports Just subscribed to your channel based on your solid record of input on this channel. Your suspensions tips are especially appreciated.
+Meghani Motorsports Glad to hear it. I have the fire sleeves on my current MSD wires, and even though the sleeve itself wasn't scorched, the boot melted inside the sleeve! That's why I need the ceramic plug wires and heat wrap. I can't keep dealing with that shit.
+TheSmokingTire Gotcha, the heat sleeve is more of a preventative of the wire actually touching something hot. It doesn't have a reflective radiant barrier that would deflect the heat away from the wire(gold foil). The turbo manifolds I use the heat wrap on, glow red under WOT, and like I said you can damn near touch them after being wrapped. The ceramic coating alone didn't seem to make much difference IMO, other than corrosion resistance.
+Bigboomer haha I know, I watch motor trend to, the :p indicated I was joking and playing up to the American muscle car stereotype! I personally wish/hope they bring the Mustang GT350 and the R over to the UK 😊😊
+Bigboomer That car was the JBA Dominator Mustang, which is coincidentally in the process of being rebuilt with nearly the same suspension as is on Matt's Mustang!
literally favorite, simplest, cleanest, well sorted fox I've seen. Would do the exact same setup but with a smokey white satin paint. ALL the thumbs up!
Glad you're happy with the Mustang, Matt. All of us as car guys (and gals) know the feeling you're describing you have for the car. Congratulations, and keep up the great videos.
Glad you got the car back. Looks clean. Matt when are you planning to take it to Buttonwillow again? Curious to see the improvement over the baseline time that you set when you first purchased the car.
Yes! Thank you for sharing this Matt, i'm so happy you finally got to post something like this. I'm not a "Ford" enthusiast in specific, but I am definitely a car enthusiast and this car kicks ass! Enjoy your Mustang.
Amazing video Matt, great combination of aftermarket upgrades you've done to your Fox Body Mustang. I could feel the excitement as you were driving it. Absolutely love that car! Keep up the great work, can't wait to see more videos on you're Mustang.
+Tyler James Here you go! 4.bp.blogspot.com/-oq_8SuT1BCI/VlzFB75rX9I/AAAAAAAAGbQ/JUcJakcDWqU/s1600/03thehorse.ngsversion.1448457036729.adapt.1190.1.jpg
I'm not a big Mustang fan but, I've always had a spot in my heart for those notchbacks. When done right they look really good. This thing is done so well, especially with the rear suspension. It's an evil looking ride and I wouldn't mind having one.
+TheSmokingTire You've had shops building your car for 18-months and all of a sudden you're worried about cost? How much do you have into this thing? Use your connections and see if Ford will strike you a deal and sell your current motor for a couple grand.
+moaski of course I'm worried about cost. Cost is everything. Cost is the reason my car isn't like a SEMA ready show car. I got very lucky in that this car came with a crate engine already in it, with less than 500 miles on it. There was no reason to spend the extra money or the extra time doing an engine swap.
+TheSmokingTire You'd gain a reliable 50hp, probably another 50+ torque, with a warrantee and no added weight. It wouldn't be a Sema car, but it would be borrowing from the best of another generation of Mustang.
We have two ghetto fox body racecars in my family. Both 5-spd 302s. We got a black 88 like this, and a white 90 with GT40 heads like this one. The sounds of this thing remind me of that piece of ours. So fun. 11,000 race miles and that engine will not die. absolutely bulletproof and a hoot to drive.
Definitely one of the cleaner Fox builds I've seen. Props for emphasis on handling and not making it a drag car like all the other Foxes! Short wheelbase and that IRS + 295s must make for go kart handling and grip.
+sjpro1 Ok, let me retract my statement slightly. Yes I know the new gt350r and gt350 are massively cabably canyon carvers. I guess I was mostly referring to solid axel mustangs. I recall seeing a built late 60s mustang on Drive Network, that had a completely overworked IRS, which was also massively capable. You just dont see too many of them out there, because too many people use the platform for straightline performance purposes.
I am not a big fan of Fords and Mustangs, however... This is a well built car, and I have to give you props. I love the fact that it started out as a Highway Patrol car, and the fact that you built it as a handling car, not a drag car. I can imagine it is a lot of fun to drive. You now have built one of the few Mustangs I have respect for, and actually would own myself if given the chance.
Dude you have got to get some help and start shooting from the outside. Your content is too good to be shot by a single go pro with only in car footage and sound. There I said it.
Those SSP notches are so cool! I have a thing for the stripped down cars, especially ones with manual windows. The lighter it is, the less power required to make it go fast!
Best I recall the explorers had a gt40 intake and heads. Back in the day is was a budget upgrade to swap out the top end from an explorer for a little more kick.
Explorers came with the GT40p heads+ upper and lower intakes. Flowed better than any other stock 302 setup from the factory so everyone wants them as they are a cheap uprgrade. However, when you build a car like this you need better heads and not an alphabet cam.
+monkeypainter808 Nah man this guy had that car out for 18 months at multiple professional shops. Check out their podcast to hear about how much work went into that thing.
+monkeypainter808 secret? He showed us when he got the car, it was in good condition. It had a pretty much new engine. He then posted updates. He knew he wanted IRS, and other stuff. It was built from the ground up, a lot of time invested into it.
Nice build. Like you said it doesn't take big horse power to have fun. Anyone who has ever driven competitively will tell you, if you can't put it to the ground your just wasting your time. Having a car with the right balance of power and handling will always win out. I can tell by the grin on your face the car is right. Enjoyed the video.
I think these Mustangs are ugly as hell, but fuck I appreciate the work that's gone into this. Cool to listen to your reasons for particular styling and component choices. great video.
Procharger is a brand, not a type of forced induction so don't say 'Procharge it.' The correct term is Centrifugal Supercharger. Also with a Centrifugal Supercharger its just a hassle because you then have to take the engine out of the car and built it with forged or billet internals so it can handle more forced air.
Haha wow what a stupid comment. This motor comes forged from the factory. Plus even if it didn’t you don’t need to remove the motor. And “procharging” IS the accepted term for putting a cs on a car. At least with car enthusiasts
A 5 liter v8 that produces 350 hp... Why the hell do americans love big gasoline guzzlers with compared to the engine size, "no power"? And on a relatively light vehicle, this just doesn't make any sense to me...
I think that a smaller block with way less cubic inches fine tuned would be more appropriate for a light vehicle, wouldn't it also cut the gas costs? I live in europe so thinking about running a V8 that size would be suicide.
Maaaan!!! I'm Rico .spanish living in Malta. In MEd sea. Lived in Mexico city back in the 80s. My brother had one of these. Double carbs,5.0 Monroe gas lhydraulic suspension all around. Remember u lift or lower with air valve. It was an automatic. But on every change of gear the thing used to screech tires. Of the power it had. He just drove it off a bridge on a rainy night. He's ok. I was supposed to inherit that car. Never had the chance.. Just wanted to give u congrats on great looking fox body. I would just choose the same mods. It's just beautiful!!!if you ever in Malta please just give us a ring.Ricoli
Inever really understood the attraction to mustangs from the mid 70s, 80s & 90s. Same with the charger after 72. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Nice video. Gives me a feeling of nestalgia. I had a 90 LX 5.0 with Mac headers, Flowmasters, Cobra brake update and 3.73 gears. Most fun car I ever owned.
Hey Matt, just wanna say I'm a big fan of yours. I've watched this video a few times. Fox body notch has always been a dream of mine. Good for you bro! I get it, totally. Love it. Handling over speed, any day.
That's by far one of the BEST FUCKIN' fox bodies EVER. Period. Love the over fenders, love the foresight on the temperature settings, hurst shifter looks fantastic, steering wheel adds some badassness. It's a perfect build. Congratulations and I hope it makes you as happy as I imagine. I completely agree when you say that what is really important is that the car makes you happy.
Such a cool car and I usually hate fords but the instrument cluster, streetable roll cage, weight reduction, centre console removal, wide body and the 80/90's aesthetic like it's from mad Max especially since it's black! So epic!
Awesome car! I respect well sorted out cars that aren't all engine. Glad it turned out the way you wanted it and that it makes you happy because in the end it's all that counts!
All Black! Well themed mate. You have a similar car/ build mentality to a lot of us kiwis. People used to reasonably often shoe 302 Windsors into cortinas over here. Sometimes even escorts or anglia's.
You can really see the passion he's got for his own build. I love this car personally. I have always been under the impression that the fox body a runt of the litter mustang with some interesting drag potential due to it being lighter than other mustangs. With this build you can see how the strengths were elevated and the weaknesses were addressed. That weakness being suspension mostly. Correcting that fatal flaw for the chassis has let it take advantage of it's lighter weight and shorter wheelbase.
so sick! followed your build ..what you showed of it anyway..and I got to hand it to ya man..she's perfect! and those roads..daamm man.. i'm from Massachusetts..so I've driven some beautiful New England Roads.. New Hampshire.. Maine..etc.. but nothing like those canyons man! I hope this isn't the last we see of the black beauty
Love what you've done with the old hot pursuit police Foxbody! Well done! Love the all black everything as well. If you ever put it up for sale & I magically have the money to purchase it, I would gladly receive it. But I'm pretty sure you'll be keeping this car for a long time. Love all of your videos brother! Been following you since the drive/ tuned days.
Matt Farah should be a character in GTA6. He steals your car keys in the beginning of the mission and you have to chase him up a mountain in the million mile Lexus he left behind.
+PistnRods I AM a character in Forza Motorsport 6!
+TheSmokingTire really? which one. looooove forza !
+Russell Jones Forza 6
Lol i mean where in forza 6. Haha. I didnt pick out your voice? Or are you a drivatar? If so haha i always ignore the names.
+Russell Jones He does some voice over work in the game, before you start racing.
"It's a momentum car and a muscle car at the same time." That's called a proper sports car.
The chassis outperforming the engine. That makes so much more sense to me than the other way around.
Love the car +TheSmokingTire
Yeah but people don't understand that way. They gotta just throw a huge power plant and wonder why it don't hook, turn, or stop lol!!
But the other way around makes hilarious UA-cam videos.
Maybe after 60 years, Americans are finally understanding what good cars are.
Call me crazy but the Fox body is my favorite Mustang generation
yea You are crazy lol I prefer New Edge's
Whats crazy about that its a lot of peoples favorites. Clean lines, light weight, very torque happy solid easily modifiable engine. The after market makes just about everything for them and you can do just about anything to it.
Crazy:)
The Fox body is making a huge comeback, even among hard core mustang fans.
i like the 03-04 terminator look. or 99-04 stock v6/v8 with a mach 1 grill.
Best fox body ever! Not a thing I would change. You did a good job.
+Ryan Robinson What if it didn't have to be a foxbody? s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9c/42/77/9c427769136eee3f24f02599452086e5.jpg ??? hmmmm? hmmm?
Needs a coyote crate motor
+anonymous anon shut yo gay ass up
I would have ran long tubes, but with his suspension I'm guessing he has clearance issues. But the 5 liters love long tubes
Make those mags smaller and you have a deal.
Riveted looks perfect. Superb job all around. Menacing Fox Body.
+Martin PDX
Agree, it oozes menace.
It's like an answer to the question "What if the Pursuit Special was a Mustang?"
Wow the car came out great! Very impressive love how clean and simple you made it. Yet sophisticated underneath.
I love this car, the mustang notchback has always been one of my favorites
I didn't realize that it's been 18 months on the total build.....but this is one of the cars that drives my emotions.....kudos to you good sir....you've made me proud
All blacks! All black Mustang. Does not get any better.
+Nick Murray Yeah, I spotted that as well....
+Nick Murray I always liked the ''no spoiler'' look on this car...Well done!
+Nick Murray Totally agree.
(like my wheels better)
kona blue bro!
+Nick Murray Black is right! lol
Matt! contact Turn10 and tell them to put this car on Forza Horizon as DLC so that I can have a opportunity to drive it!....puuhhhlease!
or in the horizon 3 coming this year
+Andreas ræmmen You sure about that ?
+Audiwan Kenobi Yesssss!
+Audiwan Kenobi Brilliant idea! ... but i would probably loosen up the suspension a lot cuz going sideways in FH2 is what I love about that game ;)

Downshifts immediately to illustrate the point

Sorry, I couldn't help it. Love the car btw... Really, REALLY, nice !
+traxnada The Adidas All Blacks jacket is from his New Zealand trip... ;P Even though I am an Aussie I still love the fact he wears it :D
+traxnada yes lol
+traxnada LOL i almost died laughing.
I just lost my fox a couple weeks ago. I miss that sound. Poor girl. Served me well.
+TheSmokingTire Definitely should. I use the exhaust heat wrap on every manifold and you can pretty much touch the header after WOT. DEI also makes Fire sleeves for wires, hose etc, if you have something super close and want redundancy. The exhaust heat wrap should be more than sufficient by itself!

Matt, what camera/gimbal are you using in the walk around shots? Thanks!
CarsandCameras 1:41 you can see it in the reflection on the window. Looks like a GoPro
Gopro with gimbal
Finally a Mustang that can go round corners.
+hartoz There's already plenty of those.
+highwaystar1009 just so long as it's a 180 degree corner :P
+Bigboomer haha I know, I watch motor trend to, the :p indicated I was joking and playing up to the American muscle car stereotype! I personally wish/hope they bring the Mustang GT350 and the R over to the UK 😊😊

As much as I love watching these videos, I hate it at the same time. You're going to make me buy a project car.
Glad you got the car back. Looks clean. Matt when are you planning to take it to Buttonwillow again? Curious to see the improvement over the baseline time that you set when you first purchased the car.

Next upgrade...... Coyote swap? Maybe a 5.2 gt350 crate engine whenever they're available? Love your notch!
Ain't going to happen. Ford won't sell as a crate. Best bet is an Aluminator.
didn't think a foxbody could be cool
you proved me wrong
+Tyler Daly
The turbo Tbird and Mustang SVO were very cool back in their day.
+Tyler Daly besides the classic 50s and 60s ones, it is the sexiest mustang
ok internet

Looks like you have all the details worked out, I hope you enjoy it a long time! You've inspired me to rebuild and refresh my old 96 Miata!
This is really encouraging for me to pick up a project fox I've been thinking about picking up! Thanks Matt and beautiful car!
God......total cost........I can't imagine.
Ohh yes I've been waiting for this! Well this and the Skyline :P
loving the all blacks top Matt!!!!

Beautiful build. How about a Coyote crate motor?
Why? Those are like $10,000?

Super Awesome Ride one of my dream cars in white or blue
You can't even tell there rivits in the fenders untill you showed a close up! :)
GTR. GTR. We wanna see dat GGTTTRRR
also this is an amazing build. I did not think this was possible with any mustang, let alone a 30 y/o one
+BlueHokage anything is possible with the right parts and build. You can make normal cars really good with the right development
+BlueHokage
Many cars out there are VERY capable, you just have to be open to them rather than swayed by the opinions of the masses of fanboys.
+BlueHokage look up any protouring mustang, or the new gt350(r) or the old one, there are so many mustangs built to handle well.
+sjpro1 Ok, let me retract my statement slightly. Yes I know the new gt350r and gt350 are massively cabably canyon carvers. I guess I was mostly referring to solid axel mustangs. my neighbor had one of these when i was younger, im 17 now and its still to this day my dream car.

I want to delete my center console after seeing this.
take a look under the engine?
I am not a big fan of Fords and Mustangs, however... This is a well built car, and I have to give you props. Matt, this is perfect. You have built the perfect notchback.
Get them, minivan. Get those bicyclists.
Dude you have got to get some help and start shooting from the outside. Your content is too good to be shot by a single go pro with only in car footage and sound. There I said it.
This video won't make enough money to justify paying someone. Thanks, Adblock!
Jay C yeah only half a million ;)
Grab a buddy and buy him lunch.
gilbert martinez Bruh chill
@gilbert martinez how would you have any idea how much money he spends or doesn't spend? Get off the keyboard, hero
Only thing I would have changed is the headlights. The one piece ones are a much better improvement. Other than that, this is great!
Those SSP notches are so cool! I have a thing for the stripped down cars, especially ones with manual windows. The lighter it is, the less power required to make it go fast!
So glad he made this video I've been waiting since the day he droped it off at the shop! Such a nice build totally woth the wait!
mat you never showed us under the engine 2:14
Very nice but did you say "explorer intake"?
Yes. I believe it has longer runners than car intake. Its a upgrade somewhat. I'm a Chevy guy so don't know all details.
back then they had a expoler that came with this motor and it had a little more horsepower and a bigger intake
+SuperSpeeders101 SuperSpeeders101 yup my cousin has one as I type he bought it with flow masters and the thing screams
Best I recall the explorers had a gt40 intake and heads. Back in the day is was a budget upgrade to swap out the top end from an explorer for a little more kick.

How much did this cost? This was started as the secret cheap build right?
+monkeypainter808 Nah man this guy had that car out for 18 months at multiple professional shops. Check out their podcast to hear about how much work went into that thing.
+monkeypainter808 secret? He showed us when he got the car, it was in good condition. It had a pretty much new engine. He then posted updates. He knew he wanted IRS, and other stuff. It was built from the ground up, a lot of time invested into it.
+monkeypainter808 $40-50k
+monkeypainter808 It was going to be a cheap build but even Matt didn't really believe that was going to happen.
+monkeypainter808 This is 25k of work on top of the price of the car, easily,
That car looks so nice... everything you need for a good spirited back road drive, and nothing more... nice build
Nice build. Like you said it doesn't take big horse power to have fun. Anyone who has ever driven competitively will tell you, if you can't put it to the ground your just wasting your time. Having a car with the right balance of power and handling will always win out. I can tell by the grin on your face the car is right. Enjoyed the video.
Now you just need to learn how to drive it!
You just need to become popular enough for anyone to give a fuck about your sorry cars
I think these Mustangs are ugly as hell, but fuck I appreciate the work that's gone into this. Cool to listen to your reasons for particular styling and component choices. great video.
Perfectly good Notch butchered. those rivets on the fenders look horrible.
Screw off..its his build, not yours. I think it looks great, and those fenders allow him to put 295s on it legally
Great build! One of my bucket list cars to do one day! Would love to drive that car and feel the handling.
Okay Matt, I give you props, that is a bad ass car. great choice on the LS vs the GT rear end. Wish like heck I had that thing back in high school.
procharge it
Procharger is a brand, not a type of forced induction so don't say 'Procharge it.' The correct term is Centrifugal Supercharger. Also with a Centrifugal Supercharger its just a hassle because you then have to take the engine out of the car and built it with forged or billet internals so it can handle more forced air.

A 5 liter v8 that produces 350 hp... Why the hell do americans love big gasoline guzzlers with compared to the engine size, "no power"? And on a relatively light vehicle, this just doesn't make any sense to me...
+Alexandre Dias Because there is no replacement for displacement
Because they can! I had a 5,7 liter chevy with 190bhp hahah cool stuff
I think that a smaller block with way less cubic inches fine tuned would be more appropriate for a light vehicle, wouldn't it also cut the gas costs? I live in europe so thinking about running a V8 that size would be suicide.
Because you can't get that same sound and feel from a smaller engine. If you drive one, you would understand.
+Alexandre Dias - It needs a big cube twin turbo LSX.
Clean and simple, nice touch Matt, probably an absolute pleasure to drive two thumbsup 👍👍
Love the Mustang Matt. Your project plans were well executed... Its perfect!
I watch all of Matt's stuff, like this one the best. That sound!
So happy to see this carving canyons, it looks and sounds really nice.
that turn in looks ridiculously precise , badass fox Matt. looks like a fun ride.
Damn. Matt has one hell of a collection. Vette, fox, and skyline.
Inever really understood the attraction to mustangs from the mid 70s, 80s & 90s. Same with the charger after 72. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Best looking fox body I've ever seen, very nice car Matt.
What a tastefully done car. Good job Mr. Farah.
Nice video. Gives me a feeling of nestalgia. I had a 90 LX 5.0 with Mac headers, Flowmasters, Cobra brake update and 3.73 gears. Most fun car I ever owned.
I love that it was actually widened, instead of just fender flares like most people do.
I'm not much of a Mustang fan but I have to say, that's a damn sharp little ride. I bet it's a blast to drive. Nice build!
Hey Matt. Finally it feels like years have passed everytime you upload video's of the fox! Thanks
Wow. Love this coupe! This is an example of what should be on Top Gear USA and you'd make a great host Matt. 👍
So epic!
That's absolutely beautiful. I'd love to own something like that.
Awesome car! I respect well sorted out cars that aren't all engine. Glad it turned out the way you wanted it and that it makes you happy because in the end it's all that counts!
that is the most badass foxbody ive seen. much props man!
You totally have to race those guys with this car, you know it will be badass and a lot of people will be watching.
Awesome job Matt. Thanks for taking me back to High school...and then some!
Really liked it. Looking forward to future updates.
and it's nice to see a car thats ment to be driven properly and not just in a straight line.
Love the all business, form following function nature of your car. Good job.
so sick! followed your build ..what you showed of it anyway..and I got to hand it to ya man..she's perfect! and those roads..daamm man.. i'm from Massachusetts..so I've driven some beautiful New England Roads.. New Hampshire.. Maine..etc.. but nothing like those canyons man! I hope this isn't the last we see of the black beauty
Man, what a cool, well balanced ride. I can tell from your reactions that it's a kick to drive. Great job, and have fun!
Looking good man, fun canyon car! Saw your vette at 6th street bridge last night. Great night!
One of the dopest notch backs ever!! Simple and clean... Love it!!
