Guy Woolford i like it when people are into their cars. much better to watch than the guys who buy a new car and get things bolted on cos its what the forums say
Awesome build! I think The Smokin Tire needs to organize a trackday for people who have been featured on the one take to see how they do on the track :). Hint hint. Come on Matt we need some One Take on track battles happening. Could be a series in itself.
If everyone got GoPros and they maybe ran 3-4 different classes and kept track of lap times and points for the end... I would watch the fuck out of that.
This is the best one take so far! This one is going to be hard to beat lol. The owner knew his car inside out and actually knew what he was talking about. Loved how they were both into the convo. I was so into their convo, that I completely forgot about the dashcam lmao!
Both people have the same voice level. I would even say the passenger is easier to hear in this video. HOWEVER, sticking with a setup because it's convenient/versatile is short-selling yourself. Getting two mics for the people and separate mic for the car would make this SO MUCH BETTER. If I was the sound guy on this I would go to work!
I understand what you're getting at but if it's working is it really worth the time and effort and potentially botched videos to get a new setup right when this one is more than good enough in my opinion (and his)?
As a Mach 1 owner, I would have been happier to see a coyote or terminator engine, but kudos for doing something different and controversial and making it all work. Others will scream, but in the end it is about what works for you.
Different in what I've seen because while the LS family is wildly popular, I didn't know it was so lmfao commonly done to Mustangs. Did I explain and make enough excuses to avoid further laughing?
Same car with more tire, an LS2 or LS3 with a baby cam, and a little more gear, is exactly what I've been looking at building for about a year. Just waiting for a nice chassis to fall my way. Great car, great video.
I also like this owner. He's all about the drive, does the work himself, and doesn't care about looks and image. He actually knows how to form a coherent sentance! Cool car. Would like to drive it.
what are you talking about, i grew up in so cal beaches my entire life (im 24), and everyone has always said this as a term of endearment. It is a very common phrase in any so cal beach town.
Nothing but love for the thoughts, and tons of work, that has gone into this car. Besides knowing his stuff, the owner seems really pleasant too. Great video to watch. Would be fun if te two of you would drive eachother's cars on a track, compare notes and talk about what works in each car aso. Would make one hell of a video i think :)
TheSmokingTire please do so Matt. Michael was great on his recent video for a cheap SVO build on the drive channel and will do well behind the camera again.
god if every guest was like this the world would be perfect! if he doesn't have his own channel he should consider it cuz hes super personable! great video!
5.0s just have an iconic sound, growing up in the 90s when these cars were everywhere you could tell someone was getting on a mustang just from the sound without even seeing the car. Ls engines are great I've even done a couple swaps but it bothers me when people say it's cheap. It ends up being more expensive/or you spent tons of time fabricating instead of spending money. Only time it's cheaper is if it's half assed...
another driver with a Valentine 1 awesome! it's so dope when car guys can get together and drive each other's cars for comparison... my 95 mustang with an IRS will be up for a one take soon...
Nice to hear about the suspension upgrades and the IRS. I'm swapping a 03 Cobra IRS into my 87 foxbody Saleen clone. I live near Denver so I'm excited to take it out for a mountain drive when it's installed.🎉
Not a Ford or muscle car guy...but wow that is one sorted Fox body. Lots of love and knowledge went into it. Dialed in for sure. Mad respect for the guy and the car that just is meant to be driven, not sit on a concourse.
A 350 HP Fox Body is nothing to tale for granted. There's no nanny state controls on that thing. Our 90 GT 5 speed was hot for its day. It was fast already. Nice car.
Matt's car and others like this is what inspired me to buy and build a Fox and do an IRS swap. Currently running a 306 but I have a 5.3 in the corner that I might put in, but I'd really like to go aluminum block to get some more weight out of the car.
I had a '90 lx 5.0 with all the right go fast parts and I loved it but, being honest, a modern LS can put any pushrod 302 to shame. A more fair comparison is the coyote against an LS and even then GM will usually win. The fox body is a fun, light, simple, if crude, platform and is a better foundation for a serious motor than any third or fourth gen Camaro which were heavier, more flexible, and more likely to have things fall off than similar vintage Mustangs. So this review is the best of both worlds.
that where the 351 comes into play. dont know why people want to compare the LS to the 302 when its smaller displacement from the get go.. lot of ford engines out there OHV to OHC
I missed this one, but you mentioned it in the podcast with Thad so I went after this. Definitely a good solution to a blowed-up 302, and nice middle finger to the purists. Can't wait for your Fox Body to be properly sorted, and hopefully for the final one-take for it, Michael should be in the driver's seat so he can talk about it with you.
I had a 347 stroker in my 89 notchback, I swapped it for a 5.3 junkyard ls engine with a cam and bolt ons and it's way faster, better on fuel and smoother. Great build.
Behind ever corolla...there's a mustang waiting to pass. lol. Glad to see this guy got his car up and running. I'd love to try to keep up with him in a canyon in a 3rd gen camaro. lol
Matt, you gotta turn the tables and let Michael review YOUR Mustang! That would be a really great One Take!!!
shaggyusm26 Great idea.
up
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Watch the end of the video.
Matt said he would let him drive, yes. But not necessarily drive it for a One Take video.
This guy makes a great episode, cause he knows so much about his car!
Guy Woolford i like it when people are into their cars. much better to watch than the guys who buy a new car and get things bolted on cos its what the forums say
Guy Woolford I like the fact that he engages I the conversation and didn't let Matt do all the talking.
DIY tuners know their cars inside out. Love it.
fuck, this is what happens when you take someone who knows what he's doing and has the capability to make it happen
PsychoCB7 Facts bro! I totally forgot about the dashcam because I was just so focused on their convo!
I like Michael. Good kind of crazy. Like his car.
Shrek is love Shrek is life
+Kryptonlte no Shrek is green
no Shrek is Shrek
Yeah this guy knows his stuff
+KryptonIte **TRiGGER WARNiNG**
Late for work... continues watching anyway.
Hahaah bout to be late!!! Gotta go!
Hahaha I'm so glad I'm not the only one lmfao
when OG car guys get together... you just sit back and try to understand! I feel smarter now.
LS foxbody..Its about time. The marriage of the best from Ford and Chevy.
A Chevy motor in a Mustang? Some people are gonna freak out.
Cereal Killa I think there are more swapped LS motors than 302 in fox bodies
AllCoupedUp no there aint just some are ls swapped
You must not watch Drag Week...
Well, my cousin put a twin turbo Ford 302 (I think) in a 67 Camaro. I think he got tired of the grief and put a Chevy back in it.
+WikdSeafood why u lying
Awesome build!

Listening to these two go back and forth about their respective cars modifications and not missing a beat is something to see!
More excited for the IRS than the LS1
We need more of these conversions ASAP
gorrilaunit99 working on mine, it'll be closer to Matt's coupe when it's "done"
More suspension
less engine
This is the best one take so far! This one is going to be hard to beat lol. The owner knew his car inside out and actually knew what he was talking about. Loved how they were both into the convo. I was so into their convo, that I completely forgot about the dashcam lmao!
When is Matt going to buy a second mic so we can hear the passenger?
Vax Buster my current setup is the most versatile, and the most consistent. I'm going to stick with that.
Vax Buster maybe you need to check your hearing. No issues here
Both people have the same voice level. I would even say the passenger is easier to hear in this video. HOWEVER, sticking with a setup because it's convenient/versatile is short-selling yourself. @TST that's a very professional and diplomatic way of saying 'F--- Y-- Vax Buster'.......... :-) good job Matt.
This is one of those cars where the owner loves it, guys like it, but girls hate it! Dude, don't listen when she tells you "it needs to go" ;(
yup, girls like new, shiny, and pricey cars. I think a car that proves your wrenching skills probably chases women away. :)
infidel900rr most women period, don't like to get into dirty cars.
infidel900rr I'm a girl, and I love loud cars. And a foxbody 😍 I love any high HP car tho
***** 😊
ThatSN95Gerrl but do you like dirty cars though? unless with a little bit of the herp on the seat sseat?
As a Mach 1 owner, I would have been happier to see a coyote or terminator engine, but kudos for doing something different and controversial and making it all work. Others will scream, but in the end it is about what works for you.
And LS swap is not exactly "different" but it certainly does work.
lol ls swap different in a fox body? its prob the most done swap after the 302
Okay, so maybe I don't LIVE this stuff but an LS in a Mustang bugs me a little even if it is just because LS engines are so good.
Different in what I've seen because while the LS family is wildly popular, I didn't know it was so lmfao commonly done to Mustangs. Did I explain and make enough excuses to avoid further laughing?
Cheap, durable and parts are every where.
Seriously??? No one is going to ask what the light switch on the dash does?
it turns on the lights obvs.
It turns on the engine, shown in the 1st review of the car when it still had a 5.0
Same car with more tire, an LS2 or LS3 with a baby cam, and a little more gear, is exactly what I've been looking at building for about a year. Just waiting for a nice chassis to fall my way. Great car, great video.
4:34 80 on the freeway at 1500mph? that's a bit insane!
Imagine the top speed.
clayton8or_2 For a long range car with like a 50 gallon fuel cell that would be amazing
1,500 rpm lol
clayton8or_2 80 mph at 1500 rpm, he's talking about his over drive
Rhonda Brough incase it wasnt obvious enough
I also like this owner. He's all about the drive, does the work himself, and doesn't care about looks and image. He actually knows how to form a coherent sentance! Cool car. Would like to drive it.
This guy is a great guest! Confident while speaking and easy going with Matt not nervous(looking) at all.
*I Love this build!* Owner knows his shit.
Matt said " Homie"
Snoopy 😂😂😂😂😂😂
its a so cal thing my dude, everyone says it.
ghettodeffender We said that in the 80's lol. It's not a So Cal thing.
what are you talking about, i grew up in so cal beaches my entire life (im 24), and everyone has always said this as a term of endearment. It is a very common phrase in any so cal beach town.
ghettodeffender we use it in Chicago as well
Nothing but love for the thoughts, and tons of work, that has gone into this car. Besides knowing his stuff, the owner seems really pleasant too. Great video to watch. Would be fun if te two of you would drive eachother's cars on a track, compare notes and talk about what works in each car aso. Would make one hell of a video i think :)
JohnnyNr5 yeah michael's gonna get a go in my car for sure
TheSmokingTire Something to look forward to. Very cool Matt :)
TheSmokingTire please do so Matt. Michael was great on his recent video for a cheap SVO build on the drive channel and will do well behind the camera again.
Two guys nerding out on their cars. Love it! Good One Take!
god if every guest was like this the world would be perfect! if he doesn't have his own channel he should consider it cuz hes super personable! great video!

It makes me happy whenever the owner of the car is so knowledgeable about what is done to his/her car!
Sick Camaro bro!
I vote this for One Take Car of the Year 2016
One of the best one takes ever. Any no *ucks given 'drag car' that eats canyon like that is 100% in my books.
another driver with a Valentine 1 awesome! it's so dope when car guys can get together and drive each other's cars for comparison... my 95 mustang with an IRS will be up for a one take soon...
I have the same car with an ls swap and twin turbos it's a drift build... On Forza Horizon 3 😂 😂 😂...
It's a lil joke ppl don't kill me... but great car
+Rick Edmondson lol
didnt one of the forza games have "the smoking tire" car pack?
That is the coolest foxbody I have ever seen.
I helped torch out his old bushings in his IRS. Thanks for the plug Michael ;)
Man you guys know your fox bodies. What a great video.
so sweet to hear the comparisons between the two cars
Awesome car !! Props for doing all the work himself and loved hearing you guys car talk while driving well done Matt !!
Looks very much like a larger Ford escort xr3i we got in the uk. Sort of.
You know you're are gear head when you understand everything these two geeks are talking about!!!
It's so nice how so many people on those roads get over for you.
Definitely feeling a strong affinity with Michael. Great build!
Nice to hear about the suspension upgrades and the IRS. I'm swapping a 03 Cobra IRS into my 87 foxbody Saleen clone. I live near Denver so I'm excited to take it out for a mountain drive when it's installed.🎉
Very cool car, and cool dude along with it. It's so nice seeing someone who truly loves what he's doing.
Best video this year. Mike really seems to know what hes talking about. Makes a good conversation!
Not a Ford or muscle car guy...but wow that is one sorted Fox body. Lots of love and knowledge went into it. Dialed in for sure. Mad respect for the guy and the car that just is meant to be driven, not sit on a concourse.
That jammer is legit. Irs fox has to be so much fun!
hands down, my favorite guest on smoking tire.
A 350 HP Fox Body is nothing to tale for granted. There's no nanny state controls on that thing. Our 90 GT 5 speed was hot for its day. It was fast already. Nice car.
this dude is cool as fuck, I can see him driving serious, paying attention, and rocking skills.
Matt's car and others like this is what inspired me to buy and build a Fox and do an IRS swap. Currently running a 306 but I have a 5.3 in the corner that I might put in, but I'd really like to go aluminum block to get some more weight out of the car.
nicely done! this was one of the best episodes so far!
Very nice! Now to find an EVO swapped STI ...
This the type of car I like to see on your channel. Thanks.

that where the 351 comes into play. dont know why people want to compare the LS to the 302 when its smaller displacement from the get go.. lot of ford engines out there OHV to OHC
@@lljmack An ls1 is gonna walk a 351 too man
i thought id cry because of the blasphemy here but instead i only came out with mad respect for this build. super cool.
Would you two nerd out a little bit more please? Great thanks.
I love the LS1 in my clean m6 02 z28 (I got manual crank windows too), Glad to see a modified version in Michaels nasty stang.
Hey, Michael, I really dug your show with Corbin. Best of luck!
Best one take ever. Good Job on this the vid and audio is great. Thanks Guys!
I love the crazy one takes like this. sweet build
Old school for sure! Can't say I miss this style
I need that iconic sound, I also need to do all the things and use all the parts I read about in the magazines.
I like how hard they bro out in the beginning about their cars
this was an awesome video, like two best friends talking about their beasts.
You know its a good video when the passenger is just as interesting as Matt
Gotta respect this guy as a mechanic
this right here is my dream car 100% no ferarris or bens just a foxbody mustang!
I had a 347 stroker in my 89 notchback, I swapped it for a 5.3 junkyard ls engine with a cam and bolt ons and it's way faster, better on fuel and smoother. Great build.
What an amazing build! Great job dude!
Matt is running LHR!!! such a fun canyon!!
Great one take, one hell of a creation!
That plywood visor tho!🔥🔥🔥
I love the IRS swap and the 2005 Mustang wheels.
Matt's foxbody vs Michael's foxbody. 1/4 mile and then 3 laps around a circuit that is close. Would be a sweet episode.
Kudos to the dude pulling to the side in his Corolla. No one here in Houston would've done that.
Great Video!!!! Nice job guys.......
I've been waiting for you to review one of these!!
Great job .. awesome build ... (coming from a 5.0 owner)
I think you guys should both take ur cars into a racetrack and find out, which one is faster!
He said he was doing 80mph at 1500 miles per hour in 6th :P lol..
Love the fox bodies.
Hey Farah, a /TUNED episode with this guy and his car would be $$$$$.
I"m glad this car exists
My friend I want to where can I buy those ac vents with gauges both ?
I like how it looks from the outside.
Behind ever corolla...there's a mustang waiting to pass. lol. Glad to see this guy got his car up and running. I'd love to try to keep up with him in a canyon in a 3rd gen camaro. lol
Man, as someone who owns a bone stock 88 GT 5 speed, this car looks so fun.
Respect to the owners who built their cars.
Though I am a JDM fanboy, I do love the fox body. Best bang for buck power there is
That LS1 looks beautiful sitting in that Fox Body!
Killed the spirit of the Mustang, sounds like shit is right!
Diggin the spark plug keychain
I actually just traded my truck for a 2000gt with a 302 swap and tremic 5 speed transmission. Amazes me the torque these old engines produce.
Love the household light switch.
Hey Matt, silly question, how do you sync both footage so perfectly? Thanks in advance.
Hugo Fernandes i use the closing of the drivers door as a slate.
Nice, thanks for the answer. Keep them coming, you are doing a awesome work.
LS Won.
haha i like that!
Car owner is a wizard.
This was fucking awesome! What an amazing car! This dude is the coolest!
LS series engines are king, even though the Ford fans are in denial. Ls offers power, its compact, lightweight, cheap and tons of aftermarket support.
Where can I get IRS components for a fox? Any specific car to pull from and swap or is it strictly aftermarket? Saw a tbird irs? Yes? No? Idk
Based on this setup this has to be an autox car, bet it would be a blast
