Thank you for this reporting! Thinking this product was better than the fire extinguisher, I almost bought these. You just saved me some money and maybe my families safety!

Thank you for this - it’s Very important to know how it works and how it does not work. …I might buy the blanket to give myself the time to get the fire extinguisher going. Thank you again 🙏

Well the fire is not being smothered because its a grille and you have not blocked all of the air. When you remove the blanket the fire in the grille is reigniting the fire in the pan. If the fire in the grille was turn off or extingished then the pan should not reignite.

I looked up the name of the firefighter in the ads and he _is_ a real firefighter, _but_ he's _also_ an actor. Literally no way to tell if he's telling the truth.

I think if you have the blanket and an extinguisher, even if the blanket doesn't put out the fire, it'll prevent it from spreading and give you time to get the fire extinguisher to put out the fire.

Or.. how about just have the fire extinguisher close and go for that instead?…

Not to mention on the Facebook adds, most all of the fires are in the same kitchen, flat surfaces, small clean fires.

That poor family in those ads is just having a bad run of luck when it comes to fires! 😊

If you have a grill fire…close the lid and turn off the gas….then get the fire extinguisher. I was once using a party grill at school and no one had cleaned the grease out. The grill had flames easily 6-8 feet high when that grease caught fire. Grabbed the extinguisher and had it out in under 15 seconds…and under control within 5. Extinguishers work!

I've thought about getting one of these. But the cost for them is really too high for what you get.
Can't you do the same thing with a sheet of fiberglass and maybe treat it with a fire retardant?
The only time I really needed one was when my toaster caught on fire. It failed to pop up and turn off. It was probably the food caught and didn't come all the way up.
Unfortunately I had gone to change into my day clothes and wasn't standing right there. When I came back out to the kitchen the Flames were licking at my cupboards.
All I did was grab a plate and set it over the fire to smother it. I unplugged it, took it outside and hosed it down for good measure. The plate broke from the heat and the toaster went in the trash.

I'm more concerned about a so-called professional fireman using a grill on a wooden deck.

Can you wrap it around you to escape a house fire or apartment fire?

they should CLEARLY advise something like : not a replacement for a Fire Department Approved Extinguisher!! As some fires maybe too hot or large.
    Why hide this fact

I bought this product for the kitchen. I have seen fire extinguishers spread the fire to other items because of the pressure. I don’t think your example is accurate just my opinion.

Yeah, what a shame if people are discouraged from buying because of a YT video that may be a little misleading. I'll have to look into it a little more.

In one of the ads it made me laugh when the actor dressed as a firefighter claims - without hesitation - that the blanket is safe for youngsters to use. Yet the real fire fighter, when testing it out, says that it is dangerous for anyone to use without due caution.
I am not saying that the item has no benefit. But it is extremely irresponsible to make it seem like a be all end all product completely safe for the vulnerable to use.

I bet any blanket would do the same thing

    • @archon810
      @archon810 2 місяці тому +5

Wat... you throw any blanket on a fire like that, the blanket will be on fire in seconds, if not from the pan, then from the fire underneath that's still present throughout the whole video here.
