You've got to hand it to Murray Gold. The man can write cliffhanger music.
In the immortal words of Eric Whitely:
THAT FUCKIN' SOUND!!!
32:19 unintentionally a nice wipe transition
Army of Ghosts was such an awesome cliffhanger! Watching as a kid, I remember everyone at school being giddy with excitement for the next episode to air. Good times from the RTD era.
@@a-random-human-being2311 it was cool in those days, the whole nation watched it. Nowadays he’d probably be the one person in his school who watches it
@@obiwankenobi687 i go to a collage with 2 thousand people and i am the only one who watches it
The absolute best cliffhanger is from Caves of Androzani when the Doctor is in the cockpit of the spaceship careening downward and he’s being held at gunpoint
You're not going to stop me now!
My favourite would be _Remembrance of the Daleks_ part 1, when the Doctor tries to escape a dalek by running up some stairs. Finding the door at the top of the stairs bolted, he turns around to see the dalek floating up the stairs towards him. Unusually dramatic music for a classic cliffhanger, and it's the first time the daleks were shown flying unassisted.
The end of "The impossible astronaut" was breathtaking !
The cliffhanger of Under the Lake had me in shock the most. I love it.
I know it's overrated but going from personal experience, the regeneration cliffhanger at 16:01 is still the best cliffhanger of the new series. I was baffled.
Definitely not overrated
Honestly, I want to say that the preceding "Bad Wolf" one is the best. But Gwen Cooper going full War Face while emptying a machine gun as a dalek just sells that one too me. Even before the Regeneration.
@@sariellakingdom1878 It was a very clever, multi-layered cliffhanger as you had Gwen Cooper and Ianto firing guns at a Dalek presumably before their imminent death, Sarah Jane about to be exterminated by a dalek and the Doctor's impromptu regeneration. At that moment in time, RTD could have chosen to kill any one of those beloved characters off and he didn't but the audience weren't to know that which made the ending so shocking and unbearable.
The Bill becoming a Cyberman one always gets me... :'('
17:04 Look how much spit left his mouth!
And then Matt Smith spat at the end of part two. There was a lot of spit in "The End of Time."
Now impress us and do one for the original series.
that’s a mission
So many cliffhanger’s probably be a 2 hour video XD
Out of nearly 700 classic episodes, probably over 80% of them have cliffhangers. That video would be several hours long.
Maybe do a short version with fake cliffhangers from the multi-part airings of "The five Doctors" and the split versions of season 22's stories when it aired in short time slots.
Impossible to do...
Should've included the full 5plus minutes of the Master race laughing
Was just gonna watch a couple of minutes worth, ended up watching the whole thing 😂😂
Widdums7 Well done for staying until the end! 😂
What was also so haunting and tense about the end of Fear Her was how the 'next time' sequence shifted into Rose's theme and The Cybermen music, creating a lot of suspense for Rose's last story as companion!
Imo the top 3 cliffhangers in New Who are:
3) The Impossible Planet
2) Army of Ghosts
1) Utopia
Definitely the Daleks out the Sphere
Top ten:
10) The name of the Doctor
9) The Doctor falls
8) The empty child
6) The rebel flesh
5) Under the lake
4) Human nature
3) The sound of drums
2) Army of ghosts
1) World enough and time
Top 8 cliffhangers:
8. The Almost People
7. Pandorica Opens
6. Name of the Doctor
5. Pyramid at the End of the World
4. Army of Ghosts
3. Impossible Astronaut
2. Utopia
1. World Enough and Time
Agreed
New who has enough cliff hangers to fill an episode that says most then other shows
Turn Left has to be my all-time favourite. Although, Time of Angels, The Pandorica Opens, and The Name of the Doctor are all pretty brilliant. Plus basically everything in Series 10.
I was just looking for a video like this a few days ago! Nice! :)
Downton 654 Thanks!
Missy revealing the master was a good one mind. John Hurt and the doctor being blind r great ones as well.
Utopia had the best cliffhanger
28:12 this was one of my favourite cliffhangers because it ends on why the name of the programme is called Doctor Who.
WOW!Great job putting all those together!
Mike Paz Thanks!
That was more than 8 companions, but overall FANTASTIC job!
hypewolf Thanks! I wasn’t sure who to count as a companion, but in the end I went for Rose, Martha, Donna, Amy, Rory, Clara, Bill and Nardole.
I love how you put this together, it's brilliant and seems very official, well done
Thanks!
You should do a sequel to his to show how the cliffhangers ended
Delta Bud Good idea, possibly in the future!
I hope in series 12 they have a multi part story. They’ve been quite lacking in series 11
That's what I missed most about last series
We can now add:
- Spyfall Part 1
- Fugitive of the Judoon
- Ascension of the Cybermen
- The Timeless Children
Your wish has been granted, but.. series 13 instead
@@JArm1996 and
- Flux Chapter 1: The Halloween Apocalypse
- Ch 2: War of Sontarans
- Ch 3: Once, Upon Time
- Ch 4: Village of the Angels
- Ch 5: Survivors of the Flux
The Sphere one sent shivers down my spine when i first watched that episode
This is really good
Calvin Galbraith Thanks!
This is giving me serious chills.....!!!!
I swear that Under the Lake cliffhanger gets me every time it’s so clever
Clever? Is it not really really predictable though? I like the episodes but surely 99% of people knew it was going to be the Doctor as a ghost, there’s nobody else you could have as a cliffhanger to be fair
@@obiwankenobi687 I didn’t expect it.
Army of Ghosts. I remember watching it live and I was in anticipation all week.
Really cool, I love it
7pitpat7 Thanks!
22:43 i just love how the music stops just goes dead, i feel like that very ending scene is underrated sadly, i think its a work of brilliance and so simple.
I would have included The Pilot and The Girl Who Died as well, but otherwise a fantastic job. Now do it for Classic Who (basically every episode).
I did consider The Pilot, but I decided against it as there was no real degree of danger or mystery. That might be quite a task!
Fair enough, I just thought it felt quite similar to the way Rose joined in Rose, and that was included. I wouldn't expect you to actually do the Classic cliffhangers, as there are hundreds, but if you're up to it, that would be great!
lucas dolding The reason I chose to include Rose and not The Pilot was really just because the episode following Rose (The End of The World) featured a recap of Rose and its ending.
That makes sense.
You know an awesome cliffhanger and next time trailer is approaching when the really intense, albeit rarely used, sting is initiated, like at 5:36.
Oh, I’d never noticed that actually!
@@Hybrid12Productions Well it's probably more a matter of opinion, but when they used it they tended to dispense with the theme tune and use another track instead, akin to the Series 5-10 trailer approach.
the series 2 ones always give me goosebumps bro..
I love the cliffhanger from the empty child when I first watched it when it was first broadcast I was surprised that it was a two parter that ending with the close up of the gas mask people creeped me out
Now all you need is The Woman That Fell To Earth cliffhanger! 😜
That video was brilliant, quote the thirteenth doctor.
Thanks!
If this included classic who we'd be here all day.
Really nice work well done!
Thanks!
Also wouldn't the ending of Waters of Mars be considered a cliffhanger?
MaccamatBux1674 I did consider it, but I decided not to include it as it doesn’t really leave the audience with any questions or show any dangers.
Hybrid12Productions Ah yeah that makes sense.
I was thinking about the ending of Vampires of Venice as well but it has similar reasons.
No because it was obvious master would return
was it not obvious that Rose and the Doctor would be in the TARDIS in the second episode, so why is that considered a cliffhanger and not this. Waters of Mars did leave questions, why were the Ood there? what was the upset Doctor going to do? The cloister bells were ringing, indicating danger.
Hybrid12Productions so why did rose leaving with the doctor make it? That didn’t show any danger or leave or any questions. It was also obvious for the entire episode
It's so sad when the NNTH Doctor regenerates
I only just realised that the final line in The Name of the Doctor is: 'But not in *the name of the doctor*
The one time "roll credits" actually rolled the credits. Cinema Sins would be proud
And The Power of Three
Thats the name of the thing! 😮
This video made me love Eccleston as doctor I wish he stayed the length of tenant
7:17 Wut? Wut?? Wut??? Wut????
That will never get old LoL
“You have no plan”
“Doesn’t that scare you to death?”
They wouldn’t admit it but it almost certainly did
This just reminds me how much I love RTD era
"The Doctor says 'no'" is a brilliant speech! It shows us how inredible is the 9th Doctor.
best cliff hanger jodi falling out of the tardis 😁2017
Thanks for putting this together! Any thoughts on doing some vids like this for Classic? That would be fun :)
Sharon Kofoed I’ll probably keep focusing on editing trailers at the moment, but possibly in the future. It might have to be in instalments though, as I’m not sure how much time it would take for a video that long to upload!
@@Hybrid12Productions If you did it all in one, you would probably need your own TARDIS to take care of the uploading :P
This is brilliant
Thanks!
Love it!! But sorry to sound like a selfish snob, but what about the cliffhangers to:
- Flesh and Stone
- The Lodger
And maybe:
- The Waters of Mars
- The Vampires of Venice
- The Girl Who Died
did yall notice rose is so shocked when she sees the 10th doctor because she swears she has seen that face before
I think it's more likely she's shocked because...oh...I don't know... THE MAN SHE'S BEEN TRAVELING WITH JUST CHANGED HIS FACE IN A BALL OF YELLOW FIRE?!
The ending of flesh and stone would count as a cliffhanger wouldn't it
Jackamoly Oh, I completely forgot about that!
@@Hybrid12Productions I sense a reupload lol.
Tennant sure knows how to 'leave the building ', so to speak. He says he doesn't want to go. Then during regeneration he just about blows up the TARDIS! I've seen All the other Doctors regenerate and noone does it with quite the fireworks. Poor TARDIS, dont know how the ole girl put herself back together again. It was definitely the saddest and yet the finest to date.
So much nostalgia from the missy reveal
I remember starting to watch doctor who from series 2 and buying all of series 1 on dvd and instantly falling in love with this show. This video brings back so many memories from my childhood why does time go so quick... Pity the show isn't as good as it used to be. But thanks for the memories:)
Not to nitpick but in series 5 there was also the cliffhanger at the end of the vampires of Venice where the doctor and Rory were about to go in the tardis but it became silence and then after they had gone into the tardis , a crack appeared in the tardis keyhole which the camera then zoomed into reveal the closing credits
3:03 ah yes, the nnth doctor
Do one for the classic series pretty please!
Am I the only one who thinks the tenth doctor clothes suit Matt Smith
The return of the Master in series 3 was epic
"Donna Noble has left the library. Donna Noble has been saved."
Traumatic.
Have you considered doing every cold open?
This has all reminded me just how goos S4 is...
New doctor who season 1 was amazing!
The greatest cliffhanger in present Doctor Who is Series 10’s OST release
OK, Clara's "villain version" was amazing.
UGH I miss the suspenseful Latin opera of 2000s who
Same here
And the master did not trap them in utopia that was a myth the master made up for himself so his plan would work
Galaxy Wolf I know, but at the time of the cliffhanger, the audience would assume they are trapped.
No the place there at is not called utopia its where they were saposed to be going in that rocket
How long did this take to make?
I worked on bits of it over the course of three days. It was a slightly rushed!
You can really tell how Moffat's writing improved watching these in order
"The fields of Trenzalore", " The fall of the 11th", "The Question". Great sugestions for EP's names. Watch out, Chibbs!
man the RTD era was pure cheese, the good kind
Does someone know where to find that loud banging sound they played in some epic cliffhangers before the credits music in some episodes (with the 10th doctor) I remember one where he's in the Tardis (15:04 ah here it is just like this one)
It’s the Cloister Bell. You can find it on two long-OOP CDs, or on the Blu-Ray Photo Gallery for Logopolis.
(Or on the 11CD _Doctor Who: The TARDIS Edition_ album available on YT on the Whoniverse Music channel.)
Rlly left the best till last mind.
You should try and update it to include season 12
The Doctor, as always, caothic: "A storm approaches"
Rose: *suddenly gets affraid of fireworks* lol
Great but there's a spelling mistake at 30:04
Haha, thanks for letting me know.
It Said on 11th to 12th Docotor
It was spelt wrong
Correct spelling= Doctor
The Daleks' genocide in Evolution of the Daleks is one of the darkest moments of these villains.
Missy's revelation. Epic.
OK, series 6 started with a great cliffhanger. It's about that.
If the Cybermen "invasion" wasn't already enough, then the Daleks appeared.
River revealed as Amy's daughter is onde of the most epic moments.
"Tic, toc, goes the clock, to River kills the Doctor!" Oh, spooky.
Another name for "Turn Left": The return of the Bad Wolf.
The return of the Time Lords was very very surprising!
Great video but I would also include The Waters of Mars, The Eleventh Hour and The Vampires of Venice.
*a single athom moves*
Wilf: Are those aliens again!
11:01
Oh God, the 10th Doctor regenarating....
Can you plz do a update
I’ll probably do an update after Series 12 has finished, as I’m sure there are still a few cliffhangers to come in the series!
Kk LOVE YOUR VIDEO
Hybrid12Productions THANKS
I'm sorry but the way Moffat set up the Hybrid storyline...like at the cliffhanger reveal it just didn't make me gasp or gag at all. I was like "Oh, is he? Alright then." Anybody else feel the same?
Oh no! I'd really enjoy a second or even third season with the 9th Doctor.
My favourite 2 parter is “Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead.”
Best cliffhanger is Name of the Doctor
Джоди у Такер тоже крутая ВИП.
