As Steven Moffat said before the 50th anniversary (a time when we were all celebrating 50 years of our favourite program) - the party wouldn’t have been possible if Christopher Eccleston hadn’t made series 1 (revived series) such a success.
Imagine being a Doctor Who fan in 2005, waiting for doctor who for years and then seeing a trailer, finally, that must've been a HUGE feeling of excitement
I was a fan (I still am) back in the wilderness years who was an avid collector of the VHS tapes of the Classic Series for some years and to be honest I, like many others of my generation, were resigned to the 'fact' that the show (at least on TV, barring skits and repeats here and there) was 'over' (again at least on TV, if you get what I mean...) but at the same time I was sort of OK with that because there was after all still lots of great adventures to enjoy that were already there on the TV series alone, if you get what I mean. I first heard about the return of the show onto mainstream TV back in 2003, the year of the 40th Anniversary (of which there was some nice and classy merch of which I still cherish to this very day). while I was half awake in bed. As it happened I had the switched TV on, because at that time (due to some of my mental heath issues, but that's another story) I had a lot of problems getting to sleep at night I used to leave my TV set (with the volume on a low setting in order not ton disturb anyone else) on in order for me to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the voices of people talking in the programs and films that were on TV (sometimes I'd even watch late night TV and let myself fall asleep with it) and I was only just waking up and as it happened the breakfast news happened to be on and low and behold there was the vy best 40th anniversary gift that any fan would wish for, the RETURN of 'DOCTOR WHO' on TV as a NEW SERIES on BBC ONE! Due to my being half awake I simply dismissed this as being part of a nice dream and I thought no more off it, after all we had some many false roamers and fake headlines in various 'newspapers' over the years about the shows return that I had become cynical and dismissive to ANY 'news' relating to the series unless it was from the BBC itself or Doctor Who Magazine (aka DWM) both of which I will add are still the best places to get news relating to 'Doctor Who' be it online, TV, radio or in hard copies to this very day. Anyway I woke up properly, chuffed at what I thought was only a rather nice dream I soon bumped into someone actually told me that this the real deal! Boy was I happy! It wasn't long before DWM 'confirmed' this news and I was eagerly awaiting the new episodes. I must confess that, when they first came out I was 100% keen on the 2005- series and for a while I left 'Doctor Who' alone for a while, to go onto other things before then returning to the series, firstly to the Classic Series (which is where my Who Hearts have the biggest place for, to be honest, although Ten is in fact my 4th favorite Doctor just above Four, Two One and Three are the order of my top three of my fave favorite Doctors,, but even so there really all splendid chaps and a lady, all of them) and then later back onto the New Series. As for this trailer, well to me it still packs a punch, in fact it is still one of my personal favorite trailers off all time, for any franchise, period no kidding! So yes it was awesome to see this trailer back in 2005 if you were already a fan, granted it was a little odd just seeing the show being advertised everywhere in mainstream culture and for it to simply ave people just casually tuning into to it for the simple fact that they enjoy it and are not card carrying fans, in fact in a small way it still is, for me at least, but all in all it was still nice. That was a ride and we are the lucky ones to be there
I remember those earlier teasers were shot on film and looked so glossy compared to the actual show which was shot on video 😂 At least video improved so much by Tennant's final few specials
3:48 I know this music! This was from the Doctor who Tardis flight trailer on Roblox
Series 5 trailer will always be the best trailer. New Doctor, New Companion, New Logo, New Monsters.
Love matt smith doctor been watching since 2005 but really loved it when matt Smith played the doctor
sucks that series 6 and 7 (minus tdotd) had trailers
The budget really went up for series four lol. The first three like a powerpoint presentation, the fourth like a MCU teaser trailer.
Whats with all the echos with the 9th doctors one
10th doctor: If u come with me....
Me: i will get addicted to custard and fish fingers?
10th doctor: Nothing will ever be the same again.
Me: wiat wat now?
Wrong doctor
we'll never get that feeling back of being so excited for another episode of Tennant
Why is this video bringing back BBC One nostalgia?
