Teddy Baldassarre I went to fill in the form, and it said there was an error because I’m already subscribed. Does that mean we’re automatically entered if we have previously entered a give-away?
Timex is one of the brands that I’ve always loved! Maybe because it was one of the first watches I had when I was very young. I just love the 45 year old Timex Quartz I bought a few months ago on eBay. The owner kept it well and it really looks brand new! As for the Marlin.....what’s not to love?! A classic that will never go out of style 😁 Thx for this short and sweet review dude! As always, I appreciate your content
While I admit I'd be wary of chinese movements with exotic complications, I trust chinese three hand movements. A lot of chinese watchmakers have been producing three hand mechanical movements in huge bulk since the 70s, Seagull included.
I love Timex! A 33mm white dial from 1978 was my first vintage watch and the one that got me hooked on vintage! I love that little thing! Sometimes I get the urge to just collect vintage timex because there is so many affordable options out there.
I really think this is one of the best looking and classiest watches at any price point, it just has something that screams 1950's America, it's just like it's taken out of Casa Blanca, I hope one day I'll get one for myself.
i don't like this because it has china's seagull movement. but maybe some people don't mind. Seagull is China's best of the best watch brand and movement i think.... so some people may not mind this . not me
Love the black Marlin! Timex is absolutely killing it with their heritage line. I really wish they would concentrate on mechanical & do automatic watches . I feel they would absolutely take over due to them making smaller & thinner watches with beautiful dials and are just (as you said” so classy. Timex has a special place in my heart and I’m always rooting for Timex! Thanx for the video!
I love hand winding watches. An accurate automatic ... you never have an excuse to play with the watch. I am also thrilled with the 'smaller than a hockey puck size is ok' trend in the watch world. I'm want one of these watches
Beautiful watch, thanks for doing your research and showing us all the cool vintage videos and promotional material. BTW you look like a bad ass with that black sweater and your video editing is getting better and better. Really digging the captions you added!
I just ordered this black beauty on EBay. Yes, it is small by today’s standards, but it is supposed to be harking from another time in the past. Love that tradition and that there is no date.
Timex Marlin is great! It's the American "Orient Bambino"... a versatile, inexpensive mechanical watch at a fantastic price. Thanks for telling us about the Blackout. I agree, it looks better than the silver dial. For some reason, it isn't featured on Timex's own webpage!
This reminds me... You might be interested in an Indian brand HMT. They don't exist any more but they were commissioned by the Indian government to make mechanical watches. They have some interesting history and a HUGE collection.
By the title of the video, I thought it would be like black on black. Looks gorgeous, by the way. The one with the silver dial reminds of the watches my grandpa used to wear.
Hi Ted You can describe the Marlin with one word: Charming. All though the black version is very handsome I would prefer the silver. It IS a very small timepiece and I think that the silver dail will make it seem a bit bigger... Keep up the good work👍
My father had one of the originals with the silver dial. The Marlin is a tough watch. My father prefered the Marlin over a Timex automatic, which didn't last nearly as good as the Marlin. My father's favorite watch brand was Waltham, but he was impressed with the Marlin.
Glad to see Timex going retro. Shame about the tiny ladies watch movement. I'd have liked the movement to fill the case without a huge plastic spacer. Can't help feeling there must be better options even if it worked out slightly more expensive.
A big fan of the marlin i have the silver dial version but i agree with you this is classier, and good luck to the winner you,ll have a classic on the wrist!
Timex is one of the best watch making company...along with Casio.. Timex have produced watches which are affordable and high quality... hopeful for the prize ..may turn out to be lucky this time...hehe
I think I like the black dial better but both are great small and domed watches, which I really like. Plus the second hand is perfect and styling is on point.
I have the silver dial...it’s a great dress watch and for the money you can’t go wrong. It’s not for everybody pretty small at 34mm but it works with my 7” wrist.
Wow, what a beauty :) I‘d like to win it on my own... but as I‘m able to buy it myself please hand it to someone who‘s not in my/our situation. And who will appreciate that gift, take care of it and be proud wearing such a great watch
Love the watch and still my only complaint is not the watch itself but the company. i REALLY wish Timex was still american and that this watch had one of the original american timex movements. if it was also at least 50 m water resistant, i would easily choose this watch as my only watch in a "one watch collection" since i like the classic look that much. Between the silver and the black is a really hard decision but i think you made the right choice in picking the black dial, it gives it that little bit of special uniqueness that we all, especially me, look for and further heighten its classic look. the black makes the piece special enough to be that "one watch".
Teddy Baldassarre I totally agree. Their designs are great I even like the more utilitarian designs like the ironman. I have nothing against Chinese movements per se I'm just sad that America lost so many watch companies and their position in the watch world
I have a lot of love for timex and I love wearing them, no matter how my friends view the brand. The Marlin is one of my dream watches, wish I can get one now but will have to wait. Edit* I filled out the form & followed 🤞
Hey Teddy, I've been binging most of your videos in the past week. Thank you for bringing proper watch content to UA-cam. PS. Why don't you go full Eye-talian with the Baldassarré pronunciation? Cheers! :)
Liked the illustration of men at work. Enjoy WPA and other Labor Art from the WWII era found in old Post Offices. The Marlins are eye candy for me, esp the black glossy. Timex proves that most decent watches are overpriced. Shame not a 36m, though I have several vintage 34m's, but they get no wrist time. Best, JP
I would love to see a 36-38 mm version. I think there are many with larger wrists that would appreciate. I think that’s the sweet spot for a dress piece.
Since the begining of 2018 I discovered horology. Since then I watched tons of youtube videos about mechanical and automatic watches and still to this day I haven't bought my first watch yet. There is so much to chose from and I don't want to spend money on a watch I'm not totally convinced by. So I hope I'll win this watch so that I won't feel the pressure no more. I also didn't know about this Timex before and I think it's really really beautiful so even if I don't win I think I'll stil get this one as my first watch lol. Good luck everyone
I like the black dial, EXCEPT that they seem to have polished the hands and indices. That usually means that you have to hold the watch at exactly the right angle to see what time it is. Wish they would brush them instead.
Timex is really doing some amazing things when it comes to there watches an this one is no different I just picked up a new timex watch the other day I hope I win this is just awesome teddy thanks for that review.
Teddy Baldassarre a regular blue dial with day/date combo an metal band just beautiful an different. But I was on there website the other day an way just blown away at what I saw.
I just bought the silver dial version by watching this video as one of the basis to consider buying a hand wound timex marlin, and it's my 1st real watch (I only own a DW and galaxy watch active previously). I love it, it looks great at my relatively small wrist, and now I think I'm starting to understand the beauty of a "real watch". One thing that I'm concerned with is it gains around +60 sec / day, is it correct to feel frustrated at this or it's just normal?
Hi Teddy, Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Another feature that people love about Timex watches is the Indiglo. I prefer the black dial on the Marlin and think it makes a classy dress watch.
That watch is absolutely beautiful! Timex really is underrated when it comes to quality & history. Anyone who gets that would be estatic (because I’d surely would lol).
don't underestimate how a 34 or 35mm vintage watch might look small, it all depends on the Dial Presence. many vintage watch have very small "case edge" / bezel and in contrast the dial looks BIG or even huge and may look as large as a 38mm dial modern dress watch. this i experienced it myself with my 1st generation King Seiko model , the only models of KS and Grand Seiko where seiko have the logo/insignia printed or applied on the DIAL below the 12 oclock position . Until the Modern Grand Seiko did it again in 2017 with it becoming a separate Brand by itself and no longer under Seiko umbrella brand
How is the legibility on this black version? I have the gold version and the legibility, which looked fine on UA-cam videos before I purchased it, was terrible in real life, so much so that I had to contact Timex and ask them to send me black hands for the watch.
Looks good, but a bit expensive. You get a Japanese automatic for less with the Orient Bambino, and this Timex 35mm is a tad too small for many people just as the Orient 40mm is a tad too big.
Personally like the silver dial more, but Timex could have, should have provided much better looking hands (silver or gold colored with inlaid luminosity) and also on the numerals or hour markings on the watch. Would have been a much more elegant looking watch. As it is, it may be mechanical, but looks wise it's a bit drab. At that price point there are much better offerings out there, unless of course you're a die hard fan of Timex. I love alot of Timexes but they're all quartz movement. The only one I own is the Ironman and I've worn it regularly.
Im letting my hair grow too, but because my hair is a mix of curly and wavy, I’ll go for a similar haircut as his, but I’ll let it look more messy and curly.
First of all, I'm a big fan of your informative videos - especially when you dive into watches that not everyone knows and that does not cost a lot of money. Having said that, today's watch (Timex) is unfortunately not a clock you need in your collection. As a designer and photographer, I can say, that the watch design is sloopy - especially the numbers on the dial, are some of the worst I have seen for a long time. The numbers 4.6 and 8 are not even completed - I know that it's ment to bee like this, but it makes them even more tacky. All in all, a watch that really needs a design update. Normally I totally agree with your many considerations - but this time it went wrong. regards from Copenhagen Denmark
Teddy Baldassarre Actually, i would even say a pair of patent shoes would fit that one really well. Timex never stops fulfilling It's premise of giving us gorgeous yet Accesible watches.
Hey guys, I am going to be giving this watch away later this week. If you want to be entered to win, fill out the form.
Teddy Baldassarre I went to fill in the form, and it said there was an error because I’m already subscribed. Does that mean we’re automatically entered if we have previously entered a give-away?
Correct!
Man I hope this watch goes to some young dude as his first mechanical.. Hell of a great start to a collection! Good on ya!
I hope so too. Another young enthusiast is a win for us all!
I hope so. it would be a great gift that will be passed to generations to come, generations that will have Teddy Baldassarre's touch running deep.
Timex is one of the brands that I’ve always loved! Maybe because it was one of the first watches I had when I was very young.
I just love the 45 year old Timex Quartz I bought a few months ago on eBay. The owner kept it well and it really looks brand new!

Thx for this short and sweet review dude! As always, I appreciate your content
You’re the man, Philip. You have been busy today watching my previous vids 🙌🏻 totally agree with you as well
Teddy Baldassarre, I enjoy your videos dude. Keep up the good work 😁
Gorgeous watch. I love the simplicity of being hand wound and not having a date complication. Great review and history lesson. Thanks Teddy!
Glad you enjoyed it, Steve. Thanks for watching.
While I admit I'd be wary of chinese movements with exotic complications, I trust chinese three hand movements.
A lot of chinese watchmakers have been producing three hand mechanical movements in huge bulk since the 70s, Seagull included.
Totally agree! Thanks for tuning in
I love Timex! A 33mm white dial from 1978 was my first vintage watch and the one that got me hooked on vintage! I love that little thing! Sometimes I get the urge to just collect vintage timex because there is so many affordable options out there.

I agree man. I own some great dress pieces and this one caught my eye!
i don't like this because it has china's seagull movement. but maybe some people don't mind. Seagull is China's best of the best watch brand and movement i think.... so some people may not mind this . not me
At any price point? Haha I’m not too sure about that man
Uh the film Casablanaca was made in 1942.
H. Black yeah whatever
Love the black Marlin! Timex is absolutely killing it with their heritage line. I really wish they would concentrate on mechanical & do automatic watches . I love hand winding watches. An accurate automatic ... you never have an excuse to play with the watch. I am also thrilled with the 'smaller than a hockey puck size is ok' trend in the watch world. I'm want one of these watches
I like that trend too hahaha
I am waiting for the cream dial, even more classic!
Oh... cream dials. Love them!
Beautiful watch, thanks for doing your research and showing us all the cool vintage videos and promotional material. BTW you look like a bad ass with that black sweater and your video editing is getting better and better. Really digging the captions you added!
I've not owned a Timex since I was a kid, but I wouldn't mind trying one again. Black dial for sure, thumbs up!
19K subscribers! More and more appreciating watches and joining this community.
Bought a Timex three weeks ago. couldnt be more happier.
Good to know that Timex still makes some of its watches in the USA in Connecticut. Their American Document series is a good one as well as the Marlin.
My dad had this watch in the 60’s...I loved it...unfortunately it has been lost to time!
Your dad has great taste man!
Big fan just started collecting so far I have a Seiko 5 but I'm starting to fall in love with vintage watches the history behind them can be amazing
Just love that look, it's Americana.. I love both, but seeing the black like that, oh, it's beautiful!
Recently got myself an indiglo.Great value and looks.Love the blackout version on the Marlin.Timex still going strong is good news to me.
Love the Timex Blackout Marlin. I have Timex Marlin from 1966, runs very nice.
I just ordered this black beauty on EBay. Yes, it is small by today’s standards, but it is supposed to be harking from another time in the past. Love that tradition and that there is no date.

This Timex looks so classy and simple . Love it .
Couldn’t agree moreb
This reminds me... You might be interested in an Indian brand HMT. They don't exist any more but they were commissioned by the Indian government to make mechanical watches. They have some interesting history and a HUGE collection.
I need to check these out!
Oh you have to check them out.. they have some beautiful pieces! Try the 'Hmt Janata' and the 'Hmt Pilot' both are hand wound watches.
Great and super affordable dress watch Teddy. Glad you are giving it away to one of your fans. Cheers
By the title of the video, I thought it would be like black on black.
Looks gorgeous, by the way.
The one with the silver dial reminds of the watches my grandpa used to wear.
The silver dial I think screams retro more, but I think this one has a splash of contemporary flare 😏
I have a 7.75 inch whrist and a 34mm watch is still suitable.
My 50's solid white gold girard perregaux (34mm x 44mm) fits me very well.
Good on you for rocking the old school
Sizes despite your wrist size!
Hi Ted
You can describe the Marlin with one word: Charming.
All though the black version is very handsome I would prefer the silver. It IS a very small timepiece and I think that the silver dail will make it seem a bit bigger...

Your dad knew what was up!
Gorgeous watch! My favourite size too, between 34 and 38, absolutely love it!
Glad to see Timex going retro. Shame about the tiny ladies watch movement. I'd have liked the movement to fill the case without a huge plastic spacer. Can't help feeling there must be better options even if it worked out slightly more expensive.

Ahhh it’s always good to see another small wrist friendly watch
Nice watch. Do they make a version for adults as well?
Uber classy, I love those indices! You taught me something new too. I had no idea they started as the Waterbury Watch Co.
Wow! Never seen this side of Timex before. It looks beautiful. I might save up for this as my first dress watch if I don't win.
I think I like the black dial better but both are great small and domed watches, which I really like. Plus the second hand is perfect and styling is on point.
I have the silver version and I love it.
The numeral font is intoxicationg.
This, the Navi Harbor, MK1Steel Chrono and others are really impressive from Timex. They’re affordable and good quality
I have the silver dial...it’s a great dress watch and for the money you can’t go wrong. It’s not for everybody pretty small at 34mm but it works with my 7” wrist.
I agree! I don’t see many people with wrists larger than yours being willing to rock
It haha.
ive got a timex winder thats over 50 yrs.old,,it still works to this day,,,
I had one of the originals when I was a teen back in the 1960s.
A very interesting piece. I have definitely considered this as my dress watch purchase.
Thx for the Timex history!
Perry Ford Seconded!!
Thank you for watching, Perry!
The silver dial is a strap monster, but this one really looks nice and classy!!!
Wow, what a beauty :) I‘d like to win it on my own... but as I‘m able to buy it myself please hand it to someone who‘s not in my/our situation. And who will appreciate that gift, take care of it and be proud wearing such a great watch
Did you get a new editor? The video is looking crisp! Which slider do you use for the close up shots?
I did but he is on vacation. This one was all me. No slider used. Just a simple fluid head tripod
Teddy, do you think the Rolex 114060 C-Sub is too large for your wrist? I would love to have your opinion on the C-Sub for smaller wrist people.
This watch looks beautiful Teddy! Damn
I love the Marlin. The silver dial looks great, but I think the black dial would come out on top if I had to choose between the two.
Nice watch in a classic size. Reminds me of a piece Glashütte Original is currently peddling.
Is it hard to remember to hand wind a mechanical watch?
Not for me. That said, I am weirdo and will wind my watches whenever they begin to need another wind throughout the day 😂
the opposite, its more of an occasion to engage with the watch that i enjoy.
I've had three wind up watches. I wind before I go out wearing one.
leicanoct Panerai has a record? That's a lot of time
I love it. It's a symbiotic relationship with the watch. Much more personal.
I like both colors, but I would have to go with the black because it is not as common.
They both look great. Ticking still loud though ?
Not nearly as loud as other Timex watches
Oh good ! Thank you.
It is easy to fall in love with that watch.
That dial is easy to get lost in.
Hey Teddy! Love your videos! Can you review a Marlin Automatic?
This is a great watch. Timex is such a great brand, just under appreciated.
I like the black dial, EXCEPT that they seem to have polished the hands and indices. That usually means that you have to hold the watch at exactly the right angle to see what time it is. Wish they would brush them instead.
Nice review. Was considering if I should get one but I shot down d idea. Too many wayches with too lil wrist time.
Timex is really doing some amazing things when it comes to there watches an this one is no different I just picked up a new timex watch the other day I hope I win this is just awesome teddy thanks for that review.
Thank you for watching as always, Phillip. What Timex did you get!”?
How do we get timex to put more mechanical movements in some of their other watches?!
silver dial I think would be my choice!
Just found the next watch im going to buy ,thanks teddy
Great watch and it looks very awesome also there‘s a lot history behind this watch love it !
I only have to fill out the form once, and I'll be entered into each month's giveaway, right?
Hi Teddy,
Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
Amazing watch this is!!! Thanks for the video
love both silver abd black, would go with the silver...more flexible with attire
You are right about versatility. Looks wise, give me the black!
Do you recommend buying from amazon, I’m thinking of buying the seiko 809 for around 90, should I risk it🤔
Totally worth it. Did a video on it!
Teddy Baldassarre Cool man one more question is it a good everyday watch🤔
Hi.. You can check HMT PILOT it's a black dial watch..
I like both the black and silver edition. My only problem is that my wrists are over 8 inches so too small for me.
Yeah that would be a bit too small. :(
Its beautiful, I agree but a decent inexpensive automatic mvmt (an NH 35a is enough) would have made it worth the $200
I always notice that your watch belts look really nice...
Damn, that’s beautiful. Wish this was available here. I’d buy one for sure.
Great video! Followed you in Instagram finally lol.
Haha thanks Jordan!
Great review. However it’s acrylic not crystal.
Nice looking watch... classic. Good review.
Thank you!
Damn... I just discovered this and I hope they re release this.
What are your thoughts on the Seagull 1963 Chronograph, a Chinese-made, mechanical chronograph?
Doing a video on Chronos right now!
Teddy Baldassarre can’t wait! Keep up the great content!
Doesn't the Marlin have a Seagull movement?
Hand winding is under rated if you ask me.
Hey Teddy, could you make a video about how you style and take care of your hair?
He does have great hair, right?1
Rojo Röhr He certainly does! As soon as my hair grows out I’m going for a style similair to his.
Im letting my hair grow too, but because my hair is a mix of curly and wavy, I’ll go for a similar haircut as his, but I’ll let it look more messy and curly.
Teddy should let his hair grow Led Zeppelin style...
I kinda feel like thst’s not his style.
How does this compare to the orient bambino?
I just like sliver one, I think silver one is more classic and original style one
Is the giveaway international?
my dream watch..

That would make into a really handsome dress watch.
It sure would be 😏
Teddy Baldassarre Actually, i would even say a pair of patent shoes would fit that one really well. Timex never stops fulfilling It's premise of giving us gorgeous yet Accesible watches.
