Do you have a gimbal or are you thinking of getting one?
I ordered this one finally, as the AI tracking is key. I can use Filmic Pro App for filming and dont have to use the native app of the gimbal. Exactly what I need as one man show youtuber :) thanks for your review

@@MichaelCGrayPhotography I would not go that far, but its enough, when I can walk around and be tracked reliably. I tried Osmo Pocket, failed. tried Insta360 with framing afterwards, too much hassle and not good quality. But I will try :)

Hello Michael, I have had the Hohem Isteady V2 gimbal for 2 days.
I also had the problem with the stop sign for the AI function. I found out that you either have to spread your thumb far away from your hand or, better still, spread all your fingers so that the AI program can correctly recognize the character. This is probably programmed on purpose so that normal gestures when filming do not lead to an accidental stop of the AI tracking function.
The OK sign to start the AI tracking function must also be made with the fingers pointing up and the thumb and index finger forming a circle so that it can be interpreted correctly.
If you do a few tries, you will find that if you follow these guidelines, it works 100%.
It would be nice if you could make a video about it in which you then show and explain it. Because I'm only at the beginning and am building a small studio and would like to open a channel in the future.

@@MichaelCGrayPhotography I'm definitely new to the gimbal game I have a Galaxy s21 ultra so it's a heavy phone. Do you recommend getting the filmic pro app or would I be okay just with the native app off the phone and what my phone can do. Doing a road trip in a month so hopefully I can get the hang of this gimbal.
@@sergioallen8324 I do not know anything about that phone. The Hohem Pro App is good and has Fun stuff in the Moments section. If you are trying to get the best possible video quality, with the most control, then Filmic Pro is great. Be aware there is a bit of a learning curve with Filmic Pro. You can always bounce back and forth between the Apps depending on your needs. Get out there and practice a lot prior to your trip! Have fun.

I tried buying Hohem X2 two times from Amazon. Both the gimbals had defects in the manual locking and zooming. Zooming is pathetic, cannot be used unless you wish to spoil your video. The built quality is not strong. Even the remote is clumsy and malfunctions, the buttons are not smooth in operation. So, there is a lot of scope for improvement. Bluetooth has to be again set frequently if you switch off the gimbal and switch on after a while. You need to unpair with mobile then pair it through hohem pro application. But the video recordings are smooth even if used in a moving car. Handle is short so the tripod would have to be used all the time for proper grip.
I have not tried the Hohem x2. On the isteady V2 I did and still do find the zooming a bit choppy, although I rarely use that function.

love your vids... just playing devils advocate, I've seen vids where ppl do use just 1 thumbs up/side and worked to change orientation portrait vs landscape... I wonder if you could put it pro mode, change your settings (like low ss) and the light would help more (?)... and lastly, the palm gestures in your vid didn't seem consistent, ie, your hand was kinda sideways a little... anyway, just food for thought brother! great vid, going now to watch more of your uploads 💪🏽

I've read about the zoom issues before, but understand the choppy-ness is either switching lenses from wide to tele or going from optical to digital. Does that sound about right?
I just finished playing with it again. Here is my thought on it. I believe it is purely an APP issue. The zooming starts fine and then in the last, say 1/4 to go, it starts getting choppy. I am using the iphone 11, so when I put it in Ultra Wide lens and start zooming the lens do not switch to the standard lens. All the way zoomed in, it still says i'm using the Ultra Wide lens. I believe the APP is all just digital zooming. I think there is a lag in the processing in the APP, causing the choppy/jittery quality.
Will this work to record my daughter's high school basketball games? Or it's just for recording one person? Thanks
if you want to track her, it should work, if she gets to small in the scene the tracking may lose her. I would try to use object tracking (draw a box around her), you will probably find it work better for this. I suggest practice and try the different track modes which works best for you.
For general steady footage from the game should work great and with tracking it can make it really interesting.
I couldn't tell from yours but do the clamps on yours line up horizontally with the handle when it's just sat down? mine feels like it's on a bit squint - i just got it today and it took 7 hours to charge so I think it may be faulty and need sending back
7hrs????? should like max 2.5 to 3hrs. The clamps, without the phone in it? can rotate and stay at pretty much any angle. the clamps are snug on my iphone 11 and just miss the side button on the phone, snugged up to it.
Hello. Thank you for nice review. Does AI object tracking works only in the app or can I use it also with native camera? What's your opinion about tracking obejcts f.e. slow moving car or someting like that? How about trying this gimbal like this and showing it on the UA-cam? :)
My pleasure. You can use the top AI with native camera or any App you want. It works independently.
Maybe I could make a short video about the tracking.

I'd like to know because the Hohem team told me that 'the AI sensor of V2 can is designed for face tracking. If you need it to track objects, you can connect the gimbal with hohem app and use the object tracking feature there'.
@@tomaszzaskalski Sorry they are correct. I'm so use to answering that question about face tracking, my mind just thought face tracking. The top AI is basically off or on there is no way to select an object or person for that matter. it simply looks for a face.

I just tried it, before I answered you. I put the iphone 11 on the gimbal set to video, went into vertical mode, changed to wide angle lens. I did not see the arm, i even switched the lens from wide to normal and back again. No arm. The only time i have an arm issue was in " inception " mode. I just offset the phone to correct it.

may I ask if it's possible to disable the hand gestures? (dancers would have issues with this since most dance moves might use the "stop" gesture.
Yes and NO if you want tracking.
Yes, if you don't want tracking. Let me try to explain.
Okay here goes. There are 2 types of tracking, 1) is the AI lens on top of the gimbal. 2) The other is in the App.
If you do NOT want to use tracking, then do NOT turn on the AI lens on top and do NOT activate the hand gesture feature in the App. The gimbal will then work like any other gimbal.
Now, if you want tracking, we will look at the App first. select the hand gesture feature, the High Five or a V shape hand gesture STARTS the tracking, not stop it, so should not be an issue with dancers High Five.
If you use the AI lens on top, then OKAY hand gesture STARTS the tracking and the High Five stops it. Now the dancers will be at a distance from the gimbal, so I do not believe that a High five will be recognized by the lens or okay for that matter. If they are smaller in the frame, it should not be an issue. I can NOT honestly say for sure though. You saw in my video I was close and it failed twice. It is more accurate if it blocks the face and is larger in the screen.
But, this may interest you. If you are filming a dancer, then use object tracking vs the AI lens, or gesture tracking. If the dancer is filming themselves, then see above :-)

Hello! Thanks for sharing this video. I got mine today and the AI is not working, i turned on and light turns red with 2 flash like they told but when i started doing those ok gestures and thumbs still not working. Can you help pls before sending this back. Thanks.
You are talking about the top AI tracker on top of the unit? if so, then press the button on top ONCE, do NOT hold the button. The light will come on red, then the light will flash. Then you can press that button again and the light will come on, keep pressing for different light levels. No it does not auto start record, okay starts the tracking, stop sign stops the tracking

Does the Gesture Control with the Tracking work on the back cameras?
The AI tracking on top of the gimbal has to be pointed at you.
The front and back camera will track you once you turn on the gesture control. (hand symbol, on right side of screen, above record button) and give the right hand symbol.

i am confused which to buy Huham or Isteady... my budget 6000 Indian rupee.. please suggest me for Videography
Not sure what you mean? what is a Huham? did you mean Hohem? if so then the isteady V2 is made by Hohem. They are one in the same. The isteady is a little more then 6000 Indian rupee. You should be able to find it on sale though.

Sorry I can not answer that question, as I have not tried the DJI om3. I will say the Hohem V2 is very easy to use and works well.

If the GoPro is under Load Capacity 0.6 lb / 280 g and will fit Smartphone Dimensions Width: 2.2 to 3.5" / 55 to 90 mm. Then yes it should work fine, minus no App control.

Sorry, I can not answer that as I have not tired the DJI OM4.
I am getting mine tomorrow to test with the Ultra. And do NOT buy the OM4 for Android. First, you have a crippled app so no 4k60p. And you can only change modes in their app. Plus the stabilization is just ok vs newer Gimbals.
The beauty of this Hohem is that you can get the tracking feature while using a superior app like Filmic Pro or mcpro24fps.
I tested the OM4 and returned it about 4 days ago.

I'm not sure what you are asking.
There is no memory card for the gimbal and the iPhone has built in storage.
@@MichaelCGrayPhotography I have a motorola moto G60, but I don't deal with the SD card anymore, I'll put it on the internal one.
Now I have a problem that I can't use the Hohem Joy app, I can't use my finger or the shutter button to turn on the video or take a picture, it tells me that I have to turn off the previous recording even though the darkness is not running.
Or Video recording failed. Wouldn't you know sir what I can do about it?

They may have updated the App and it is bugged.

What range does the AI cover? 5 feet or 50 feet?
Thanks for making me go outside to check...Haha.(I should have checked prior) It worked okay at 30' and got a bit jumpy at about 35' I was very small in the frame by then, but it still kept me. This was using the AI lens on top of the gimbal. Hope that helps.
