I've been decorating for years and still love to watch and learn how others do it because there is always a tip or trick to learn no matter how long a person does this. I enjoy your DIY videos. They are the right length and you are an awesome teacher. Thank you for taking the time to make and upload these helpful videos.
I still love to watch others decorate too! I'm striving to be a better teacher too. At first, I didn't even like to be in front of the camera...besides my Hands LOL!
I learned something! It is now in my saved videos. Thank you! These tips are so helpful especially knowing you have to work quickly and the fondant can get smooth just keep at it.
I don't think I put a dowel in this cake, but I Definitely do when it's even taller than this one! And it wouldn't hurt to put one in this size either, especially if it is for someone else!
Thankyou so much. It helps me a lot. Hope to see more tips and tricks in the future. Also can you plz make a video about butter cream and choclate ganash uses. Plzz
Thanks for the tutorial. I didn't find the link to leave a question or another tutorial request. Please I will like to see how a hole through a tired cake is realised. Thanks
I think the trick to covering a very tall cake like yours -without panneling it- is rolling a huge circle to start with like you said but also a really good fondant as well. Fondant that will kinda behave ! Thanks
I used about 5 lbs for this cake. @ 1:14 in the video. It's much less expensive to MAKE fondant (homemade fondant does need to sit overnight though, so if you're in a hurry, buying would be a good way to go.) ua-cam.com/video/Jsz0pBVa-i4/v-deo.html (You can mix by hand too, just takes more effort) Happy Decorating!
Annie, your work is incredible. I do cakes for a hobby, but I can’t seem to get my buttercream right. It either taste so good but separates as soon as it gets out of the refrigerator. I just don’t get it. I don’t like american buttercream....it’s just to sweet.. keep trying other recipes , but can’t seem to find one that works. Do you have a video out for yours? Your cakes are always beautiful....I need help!
Cakes as a Hobby is GREAT fun! I don't have a video for my buttercream, I use a basic american buttercream. You could try a chocolate ganache! I LOVE using ganache instead of buttercream, as it comes out so smooth.
You're welcome! Thank you for the suggestion. In the meantime, I cover a square cake in this video, though it's not in depth instruction: ua-cam.com/video/uVqwwUIJiWA/v-deo.html
Thank you for your quick response, I don't know how I missed that tutorial , that was very informative, beautiful cake, the filigree work just finished it. 😀
Thank you for this- it’s my friend’s birthday in tomorrow and I’m making them a cake but I suddenly had that moment of ‘crap, how the hell do I do this???’
@@auntiescakery To my few cakes I did the same thing earlier, but later a few weeks I realized by some customers that they pointed on the thickness. They couldn't able to slice the cake properly, and it was more like a gummy. They felt hard to eat that part.

Thank you. Did you put dowel in a cake this size or is it just cake/icing etc please?

Oh, I agree! Good fondant is also a plus :)
How much fondant is needed the cover a cake this size? I'm not sure how much to buy. Thanks for the help ☺️

You make it look so easy! Thanks
Right!?! The first dozen times it was so hard, but after years, not so difficult any more LOL!

My Pleasure! Thanks for watching Yoges!
Hola que le hechas para que pegue el fondant en español por favor y q utilizas en maicena el azúcar refinada
Yo uso un poco de jarabe de maíz mezclado con agua.
Rially nice trick appriciate
Glad to help
Excelente , me encantó !!!
I'm so glad! Thanks Maria!
How long to complete the cake. Is beautiful and so cute.
It took about 10-15 minutes to cover this cake in fondant. I'm much quicker than I used to be :)
@@auntiescakery wow. I heartily agree with you. :)
I learned something 💋
So glad!
Should we need to keep the cake in fridge before covering with fondant. Is it a must?
Yes. It's very difficult to cover a soft buttercream cake. If you use chocolate ganache instead, you may not need to refrigerate it.
Why you applied cornsyrup & water before wrapping fondant?
It helps the fondant stick quickly to the ganache or buttercream.
Can we get your fondant recipe 😭😭
It looks so goood!!
Thank you for this
Of course!! I have a video of that: ua-cam.com/video/Jsz0pBVa-i4/v-deo.html
Hi, square cake please , thanks for the tutorial

How to put rods on the cake 9 inch and 7 inch
I just push them in!
What fondant do you use
I use Home Made Marshmallow Fondant : ua-cam.com/video/Jsz0pBVa-i4/v-deo.html
Nice job, but why you using so big fondant almost twice bigger than cake?
I think it is easier to use a LARGE circle of fondant than to try and stretch all the wrinkles out of a small one.
@@auntiescakery now I see shy it was hard fod me before, thanks 🥰
My Pleasure!
I'm still practicing in trying to get the bottom of the cake smooth without getting ripples... Grrrrr..
It does take practice! Don't give up!!!
Want to get perfect with my decorative skills
Practice makes perfect :) Or so they say...
Thank you for this- it’s my friend’s birthday in tomorrow and I’m making them a cake but I suddenly had that moment of ‘crap, how the hell do I do this???’
LOL!! So glad I could help! I'd love to know how your cake turned out, could you share it on my FB page? facebook.com/auntiescakery
❤️
lmao i still suck at this, maybe baking's not cut out for me XD
Keep Practicing! I used to suck too. It literally took me an hour to cover a little cake.
This was terrifying to watch!! ( o0o)
Oh? Why is that?
Seems like the thickness of the fondant on the cake is too thick...!!
I like it a little thicker so it can stretch toward the bottom better.
@@auntiescakery To my few cakes I did the same thing earlier, but later a few weeks I realized by some customers that they pointed on the thickness. They couldn't able to slice the cake properly, and it was more like a gummy. They felt hard to eat that part.
That makes sense. Many people have told me they hate the taste of fondant!
