this is one of my favorite games! glad to see you covering it, it deserves a lot of love. Helped me come to terms with myself as well. Hope you do a whole series!
Oh, yay! I sent a superchat back in November 2022 recommending this game. I had just finished it back then and it had a profound effect on me. The story, when you dig it up through donuts, is really quite impactful and I really wanted to share the experience with others. So thanks to Jon and co for shining a spotlight on this weird, entertaining and surprisingly emotional game.
Is this the first video you've seen where he censors something? I only ask because censoring nudity with hedgehogs has been a staple of the channel for years at this point.
If you haven't checked out the old LP of Deadly Premonition, you're missing out, it's weird, it's janky, it's funny, it's fantastic in a stupid way lol
@@mara_jade021 I am JJ. Not literally, but I'm trans, I've attempted suicide and have self harmed. It's why it being a game mechanic is somewhat disturbing for me.
@@KayleighBourquin I understand I am not trans, I am asexual with chronic depression and anxiety disorder and I couldn't help of feeling that sadness and disturbing feeling. But I think that's what The devs trying to make people feel. It is not a game for everyone but I found it very helpful to bring awareness
I love this game ❤ happy to see you playing it Jon! Seconding the various other comments about wishing for a full playthrough, even if it's not for youtube!
hey jon, have you seen noita? recently picked it up and.......welp, i'll just say, all the pixels have physics. like, every. single. one. also, rougelite.
not watching thise because i want to experience it myself, but i will kill myself if its bad. swery made the greatest game ever, followed it with a stupid cashgrab with unkeepable promises, so my heart is already torn. this has to be good
This game feels like one big 'screw you' to the "bury your gays" trope. "Two women declare their love for one another, and are then separated by tragedy? Oh no, my horrible demise isn't going to take me from my girlfriend, I refuse to die and will use my horrible maiming to get back to her!"
Swery just strikes me as a guy who's artistic and has a bit of eccentric tastes, and writes stuff because it's an entertaining and engaging concept to explore with the audience. Not like western creators these days, chasing vain fads and reacting to imagined markets that don't exist. It feels like it would fit perfectly fine in the late 2000s or early 2010s, its crazy to remember that it was made as recently as 2018 because it really doesn't fall into any of the tired clichés of the post-2016 brain damaging.
I love it when Jon says he can't wait to play a game title he says he likes and then 30 minutes later tosses it into the bin, never to be played again. Way to be consistent Jon boy.
Day 138 of requesting Age of Mythology - a full playthrough if possible. If their language was forgotten, how do you know it, intro man? Go back to the History Channel.
Eh, we know Greek, Old Norse is close enough to Icelandic to guess and we can reverse engineer Ancient Egyptian from modern Coptic... wait, you mean this game!
Calm down, it really isn't that bad and someone's creative project doesn't necessarily reflect the creator's mental state. You think Mary Shelley was in need of therapy for writing Frankenstein? Besides the concept of playing an immortal being that loses their limbs as they take damage, with the mechanic being used for puzzle solving and fighting enemies was done by NeverDead 6 years before this came out. This title is more of a puzzle game but the premise is the very similar as far as the main characters' powers are concerned.
Every time I think I'm beginning to get a rough idea of what's going on in a Swery game the game throws something new into the works.
So much Twin Peaks influence: the owls, the backwards speaking, the weirdness
You want huge twin peaks references....go and play alan wake 2
Deadly Premonition is an (albeit janky) love letter to Twin Peaks. I get the feeling Swery might just have it on in a loop in his brain at all times.
this is one of my favorite games! glad to see you covering it, it deserves a lot of love. Helped me come to terms with myself as well. Hope you do a whole series!
Congrats!!!

This is so weird I thought the hedgehog was actually part of the game
Is this the first video you've seen where he censors something? I only ask because censoring nudity with hedgehogs has been a staple of the channel for years at this point.
@@donovanfaust3227I’ve been watching on and off for years I’ve only seen the hedgehog twice
I adore this little game. I would watch an entire series of this
I kinda hope Jon plays through the rest, even if we don't see it. There's a lot of story hiding in there (mostly behind donuts)
Gotta say, I'm not a fan of the puzzle platformer genre as a player, but this clever weirdness is just delightful to watch.
I appreciate the prior comments spelling out "Swery" game. I thought it was just Sweary, as in a game with swearing. Very confused.
Nah - that was the Australian game from a day or two ago ...
If you haven't checked out the old LP of Deadly Premonition, you're missing out, it's weird, it's janky, it's funny, it's fantastic in a stupid way lol
I'm not sure what's more confusing, how weird this game is, or that I followed its twisted logic pretty well (except the donut obsession).
“A blend of horror, nonsense, and America.” Or as I, an American, call it: “America”.
Now I'm just imagining and then wishing there was a British, or a Scandanavian version of 'Twin Peaks' 😆
maybe there is a deep philosophical undertone here about self harm or something?!
i'm immediately confused by all the nonsense that's happening? yep, must be a Swery game
Whoever decided to promote the "The Golf Club VR - How To Golf video made a great bit of surreal art.
And I will now watch it.
Isn't the mysterious giant figure pretty clearly JJ?
Bridge ballast finally worked!
oh, I remember this game. Surprisingly good story if I remember correctly
I think you really should come back and finish this one, it's an absolute treat and relatively short, a good filler between longer series perhaps?
What a fascinating, weird game - J.J. must be related to Captain Jack Harkness...
A game about self harm as a game mechanic, I don't if that's disturbing or inspired...maybe both.
It is very well explained but the ending is hard and hit hard when you know people like Jj in real world.

15:13 did he say the island on "Mamories'?
This game is legitmately wonderful, I'd love for you to finish it, even off camera, just to hear your thoughts on it
Great game, but incredibly sad, very emotional. Just… huge trigger warning (and spoiler warning I guess) for…

Suicide.
Thought this was for the theme month content not Jon just randomly picking up -18 game.

also, rougelite.
Noita is awesome, way bigger and deeper than it lets on at first look
He's done a video.
Just type in matn noita and you should find the video he did covering it.
Aww, you stopped right before my favorite level
Ah, Swery games. I forgot about this one, but I'm very curious to see how this turns into Anime Twin Peaks
This game is fun l. I love rolling my yead into saws
I could have sworn matn had played this game a while ago
Id watch a playthru of this
Im surprised Jon didn't mention this was a swery game
Not like him to keep that fact from us ..
Oh, it's a Swery game?
It's funny, i didn't notice any swering 🤔
Just read the plot on wiki - the backstory is depressingly miserable!
1.4: YOLO Skyrim? Or Mass Effect 2/3 Legendary?
Okay, time to grab a bite then watch this ^_^
I LOVED Deadly Premonition, but this gem here totally went over my head. Thank you! Instabuy :-D
Great video
Jon, you could've just said America in your list, at that point the horror and nonsense are a given😂
You need to be more specific, America seems to be filled with absolute nonsense and abject horror these days
this game is apparantly trans girl culture according to Joycestick
"Horror, Nonsense and America!"
So... Hollywood, then?
B A N A N A S. bananas.

It's a bit more complex than that, actually. I'd definitely recommend it, resonated pretty strongly with me years ago.

First interesting game in a long while
This art style is a painful on the eyes.
KWEOOOOO :D

What on earth are you on about
WTF? :D
Day 64 of requesting Jon play Okami HD
Day 138 of requesting Age of Mythology - a full playthrough if possible.
If their language was forgotten, how do you know it, intro man? Go back to the History Channel.
Eh, we know Greek, Old Norse is close enough to Icelandic to guess and we can reverse engineer Ancient Egyptian from modern Coptic... wait, you mean this game!
Day 163/1230 of requesting Jon play a game nobody will remember, like Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim.
Whoever came up with the concept behind this game has a *really* messed up imagination and is in need of therapy.

Yeah... You should really just stick to cartoons made for literal toddlers. Though even they may be too edgy for you honestly.
I wasn't criticising or disapproving, just commenting that you have to be at least a bit messed up to come up with the mechanic behind this game.
