Thank you a million times for this video and for making it clear. You've answered my question about the size of the spigot. I use 1/2 inches tubing and customer service of that company couldn't answer my question.
I just got a hold of 3 of these for all $20 and dropped that IPA Bomb in one of them. they are the ones with smaller opening and screw on caps. very nice mod.cheers
Can't believe i took me this long to find this vid. These are my fermenters. Do you find it hard to get a seal at the top? Trying to do a low grade pressure ferment but to no avail. Love the lid mod.
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers Crap. that's the reason I bought it. Plus the lower cost. Is some type of conical my only other option in your eyes? Thanks for the speedy reply.
Thinking of buying one because I always make 10 gallon batches. Do you know of any kits or a way to do a closed transfer. Thought of using just the valve that comes with the unit ,but I'm concerned about pulling in O². Thanks Greg
I used to have the generic one of these brewferm over here in Europe sells. Use to put it on a little piece of wood with casters on it just like you mentioned. Worked a treat. Does it not make a solid enough seal just screwing down without that strap to tighten it down?
The Speidel does not have a screw on top it just snaps on I don't think the strap really does a whole lot because it doesn't build up much pressure but it's annoying to have the strap fall off all the time. I did once try to screw the cap on top where the airlock normally goes to naturally carbonated in the fermentation vessel didn't really work very well built up pressure and started leaking at the seal
Ah ok...I just went back and had a better look at the vid. I thought the top was threaded and the lid screwed in and the strap was simply an extra precaution. Sort of an odd design choice. I know speidel mostly for their braumeister, which is a great study in functional simplicity. Anyway you fixed their failure pretty quick. Great review and tip. Cheers
Is the inside of this FV smooth/have ridged-ribs? Looking for ease of cleaning! Oh & I’m wondering if you could add a chiller coil and you new homemade glycol setup to tame fermentation? Cheers
It does have a few ridges in it, but nothing that's too hard to clean, I have been thinking about making a chilling coil for a while now that I have some experience with the anvil chiller, I might try to make one myself.
Short Circuited Brewers Wow thanks for the quick reply! Iv enjoyed ur anvil chiller series, I think I will purchase a Speidel in hopes of modN with a chiller coil/ either a Blichmann chiller coil or a homemade one from SS steel
brand new to this stuff. does the airstopper count as a bubbler for this particular fermenter? i've looked for an answer for a while now and can't find one
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers and with this fermenter i need nothing else to make just beer or mead, right? no additional modifications other than the lid strap fix? or is additional tubing needed for other purposes i may have missed? thanks for answering quickly too, i appreciate it
It's a name, so it could be different, but as a tip from learning German, pronounce the english name of the second letter in the ie/ei combo....so should be Sp-EYE-del (proper German would actually be shp-EYE-del) But most Americans will pronounce it Sp-EE-del

Really like that simple lid mod. Been annoyed by the strap falling off all the time. Thanks!
Glad you found it helpful! 👍🍻

I was going to put some gradation marks on the side with vinyl.. NO SUCH LUCK. Couldn't get anything to stick!
try an engraver (lightly)

Take a look at www.norcalbrewingsolutions.com/store/index.html they have a bunch of custom accessories for the Speidel.

Has your o ring gasket falls out of your cover part at all when u take the cover off or putting it back on
Not much just make sure it's in the right groove in the lid. That is an issue I've had. It fits pretty snug once it's in the proper groove
👍🍻
Short Circuited Brewers thank bro
Thanks for the review. How long does it last? I mean, how many batches can you make with this fermenter till it gets damaged?
Have had it for several years. Still using it. Have not had any issues. Thanks for the comments César! 👍🍻
Does it fit in Mark's Keg Washer or is the opening too wide?
It is larger than the MarkII keg washer. It is pretty easy to clean if you get it right after fermentation. 👍🍻
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers Aw, that's a shame. I guess it is, it's just that the keg washer is so convenient to use. Thanks!
@@fdk7014 I agree! I have one and love it.
Good job
Thanks!! I still have it!

Will do!
How do you measure the temperature in this fermenter? Thanks!
I never did. You could put a thernowell in the top of the lid.

Do you have any picks of the stand u made for it
I have never gotten around to making a stand for it. 😔 sorry.
Can You use that fermenter or the other one (120 lts) for a comercial brewery?
Don't see why not. It will just have to pass inspection. Which it should.
Hi could you make mead in this ?
Sure. It is a fermenter. 👍🍻
So the total size of this when it's full will be around 80-91 lbs?
Yes! Water is just over 8 lbs per gallon.. 8 lbs X 10 gallons = 80+ lbs.. They get heavy real quick! 👍🍻
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers 8.3 lbs per gallon

15.8503 gallons? XD
That precision is hilarious, for something as inaccurate as the volume of a fermenter
