Cyrus, a simple way to route the heater cord is to cut off the socket plug and insert cord through a suitable size grommet replace with a new plug. The probe wire will also fit through grommet, a little bit of silicone on grommet to seal. Easy, no need for that big plug.
You're absolutely right, but I was trying to come up with a way that was easiest for the most amount of people, even those intimidated by rewiring electric cord. Thank you for the comment.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the helpful videos, I really enjoy watching them. I’m thinking about getting into moonshining this year, I have never done it before but plan on learning a lot about it.
Hey Cyrus, nice design! I like that you made it as easy as possible. I ferment in buckets in a converted mini-fridge with a PID controller that can either control a heat source (electric hot pad) or fridge cooling. I removed the door and added a one inch thick collar around the opening then attached the door to the collar. Wires run through holes in the collar so I don’t have to drill into the fridge. Your way is much simpler and works with on-grain ferments. Thanks!
Cy thank you so much sir for such a great tip for heating my 5 gallon fermentation buckets I just completed two heaters followed your instructions My heaters turned out better than expected appreciate you and your videos very much I am now a subscriber to your channel keep up the good work👍

@@StillnTheClear also thank you for the video. I made one like the first one you showed us. Where I cut small slits In the bottom side of pvc to act as a screen.
Great idea. I'd like to do this to my barrels. I do have a question though. Have you had any issues with the alcohol in the mash having a detrimental effect on the aquarium heater? Thanks for all of the awesome videos.
Hi Cyrus I think I’m going to try to build this fermenter. I scanned the parts list an didn’t see a link to the Drum. Can you please help with that. Sorry if overlooked.
Hello from the UK. I have my own UA-cam channel in relation to home brewing beers called Blyth Spirit Brewery. I fancied branching out and came upon your great channel 😊 love this fermenter build. Thanks for great info and content.
Great video. I have got 10 and 15 gal blue barrels. I ordered heaters, etc. I am copying exactly what you did here. Good bye to my Home brew 6.5 gallon buckets.
Hey Cyrus, it's been a minute since I've seen your videos! On the hole for the bubbler I've been drilling 3/8" as per the instructions for them. Is that a better idea drilling a 1/2" hole?
There are a few ways to do it. 1. Mash in with half the water then add the other half as cold water when mashing is complete. 2. Let it cool down naturally before you pitch yeast. This takes several hours. 3. Use a wart chiller to cool it down then pitch yeast.
I get them locally. They're used food grade, but we have several commercial food producers in my are. The best place to look would be Facebook marketplace.

Awesome, 15 gallon fermenter works well for me.
Start the 5:09 hole in forward and then half way though run the drill in reverse. Clean hole…
Cool. I never tried that. Thanks for the tip.
@@StillnTheClear it “melts” in reverse. Leaves a cleaner edge in my opinion.

Do you have an update video on this review. I looked but may have overlooked it. Thanks man
I have not made an update video, but I use it a lot. it works great, although, I rarely use the heater anymore.
Great video, appreciate the simple explanation . I havent followed your channel before, do you have a banana brandy recipe for beginners?.
I've not done a banana brandy video yet, but that's a great idea.
Thank you for replying.

Not yet, but to be honest I haven't had to use it much. With winter around the corner I'll be using it more.
As usual Cyrus, a very nice helpful video .How do those bazooka tubes work with a corn/rye mash? Would the sliced pvc tubes work better?
They work well. They do drain a little slow with finely ground grains. They work somewhat better than the slitted PVC.
Cyrus will the rubber bulk head gasket affect the mash
You have a video using this fermenter
What kinda barrel is that so I can get the right seal at the top lid
Hi Cyrus I think I’m going to try to build this fermenter. I scanned the parts list an didn’t see a link to the Drum. Can you please help with that. Sorry if overlooked.
I only have a link to the parts kit because you can use any size barrel. I get this particular type barrel from a local mom and pop hardware store.
Awesome!! Where do you get your barrels from?
I get them locally. They're used food grade.
says the fermenter kit is no longer available...is there a parts list?
Nice, I really like it. KISS principle.

How will you cool your mash so the yeast don't die?
There are a few ways to do it.
1. Mash in with half the water then add the other half as cold water when mashing is complete.
2. Let it cool down naturally before you pitch yeast. This takes several hours.

Cyrus, this is only for a wash right? Not to be used in the grain .
