Wow. Seeing this in color makes me emotional. His poor wife. She is a class act. She never gave up & got justice for her husband. It took 30yrs, better late than never. Wishing the Evers family all the best 💞🙏
Medgar Evers was an unsung hero and deserves to be celebrated like Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X.
Very true!
Maybe more so. Who knows.
Problem is I can’t find him speaking like Malcolm X
@@asiamoore6546 but where did the speeches leave us. Boycotting is key.
@@Spacepluscaptive Medgar organized boycotts. He scared the racists so badly he became a high priority target. He was getting stuff donr and people connected to him and his speeches.
Back in the early 90’s Evers son requested a new autopsy on his father. They didn’t have much hope on finding anything because so much time had past. To their surprise he was almost perfectly preserved which helped in finding the evidence they needed for the case to go forward.
😳😳😳 I STILL remember when they opened his casket and he looked like he was asleep and the color was still in his skin....... 😲 I will NEVER EVER forget that, I saw this in the 90's......
@@tamiekaaugusta4058 That is amazing and very interesting.
God preserved him oppression is from the devil. He was doing God's work.
I remember ebony magazine
@@tamiekaaugusta4058 I remember also
So underrated never recognized for his accomplishment. I love you brother happy anniversary R.I.P.
RIP Brother Medger 🙏
It’s 2020 and you are not forgotten.

@@brendagray9601 Sorry, I don't speak illiterate. 😅 If you're gonna respect the dead, at least spell his name right so don't get mad at me for correcting her. There's always that one MFer with the dead channel that keeps coming for me. Who made that law saying I can't be an English teacher?

What a coward, shooting a man in the back.
randy Hill he was a marine. Haha, I dare you to say that to any marine’s face little boy.
No1important88 you will pay for your karma soon I’m tell you now
@@No1important88 shame on you. Using the USMC to mask your racism & hatred. Really shows the PUNK that you are.
@@No1important88 well. You can try saying what you just said to a Marine. I want to see how you get beat up.
@@tryomama You're saying i should say to a marine that i told that guy to call a marine a coward? and hes going to beat me up? hahaha funny
It's wrong - an embarrassment to everyone - that it took that long to bring his killer to justice. Notice the term in the description to this video: "over 30 years before his killer was brought to justice." No doubt about who the killer was - it just took a very long time to obtain justice. No doubt that "over 30 years" means that many of his family and friends never saw justice served. The question to ask today is - have we improved?
yes it should be an embarrassment to everyone that this man was brought to trial for the third time after been acquitted twice, with no new evidence at all and convicted in spite of it.

Medgar Evers death was the first of the major assassinations in the 1960's.
Then it was John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Robert F. Kennedy.
@@mattcampbell7669 and Fred Hampton, who was killed under director of FBI Hoover , a known racist who hated Black people . Everyone says the 60’s was so groovy but it seems like a very dark time to me .
@@lulubugz2852 yeah. Every era has had its chaotic moments in history but it’s never been captured in frames and widespread like it has with the television.
In the U.S. yes but not the diaspora
"Words". I have none. Thanks for posting this.
Mr. Evers, on behalf of myself and family, we say thank you. Thank you for everything you did in order to get justice for my cousin E. Till. So sorry that it cost you your life. But your death gave blacks in the south hope because that less of an animal that took your life was the FIRST white man EVER convicted in Mississippi for killing a BLACK MAN. Rest in the arms of God sir. Sleep on beloved.
Blessings to you and your family. I tear up just thinking about Emmett❤️
Breaks my heart, that a man was killed for trying to bring peace in this country that didn’t even accept him as a human being.
this is what makes me mad & upset when all men served in WW2, black men returned & were not treated as the heroes that they were. Normandy was a scary battle & Mr. Evers braved & fought in that battle & was treated appallingly when he returned. It is nuts & disrespectful.
Shooting a man in the back shows just how "Superior" you are...
spot on
Shows fear and lack of character.
And for him to have been in the Marines smh Just a spineless coward
More like how degrading you are!
Thank you
and his widow is still alive. The civil rights era was not very long ago at all
leftenantthunder so true.
The times of racial discrimination and inequality of races is a continuing issue. There have been some resolutions. Try driving on I-75 in Georgia and pass a HUMONGOUS Confederate flag, then tell me of the equality of the races.
She is still very beautiful and so very articulate
They got a college name after him in Brooklyn
Despicable sean that’s good. Keep his name alive.
Such a waste of a valuable life and what coward shoots a man in the back
A white man that's who.
a lot of racist cowards. It kinda goes with the being-a-racist theme.
Let me guess " a lone gunman " strikes again. How many times have we heard that before ?
It's unbelievable that this sort of thing had/has a way of happening, along with character assassination such as with Bernie Sanders (among others), or people conveniently dying like Paul Wellstone (among others), and people just unquestioningly believe what they are told. What's worse is how now if you question anything suspicious of this sort in the world of politics, business or finance, people say you're a conspiracy theorist.
So the politicians, bankers and corporate executives have our best interests in mind, we should trust them implicitly and not ever have any doubts when something unusual occurs. It's like Bill Hicks said "Go back to sleep America."
Heck, the HSCA said JFK was "probably" killed as a result of a conspiracy, and Coretta Scott King was fully vindicated by a court hearing in the 90s, and yet people still say you're a conspiracy theorist if you point these out.
@@augustusbetucius1572 the CIA coined to phrase conspiracy theory to discredit those who spoke of the evils they were doing along with the FBI , to maintain plausible deniability. That should speak on itself .
History is a inconvenient truth to the oppressor.
Justice Delayed is Justice Denied.
Horrific. A heroic man who tried to change things for the better, just to be shot by a demonic coward.
Thank goodness he wasn't found Not Guilty in the first two cases, otherwise double jeopardy would have come into play.
You are NEVER forgotten we will always remember you as a hero
Please do more stories on people of color, hardly ever see it on this channel. Thanks!
I spoke of you Medgar, but know in my heart, they whatever I had to say would never come close to how I’ll always feel.May Almighty God continue to hold you close, and know that you will always be remembered and loved.
Thank you for showing a clip of this turning point in American History. 1960 wasn’t that long ago. I don’t know why people still don’t understand why Blacks are upset about racism. It still happening today. RIP Mr. Evers. Your death was not in vain.
Agreed...Mr. Evers deserves a national holiday as well...RIP great King 🤴
And the fact the killer didn’t go to jail till 94, and they hv the nerve to tell us how to respond to the violence they perpetrated on us
This makes me want to watch "Ghost of Mississippi" again.

Wow! Took that long?
Evers is a hero. People like him are needed once again in this country. Though institutional racism and Jim Crown authoritarianism never died, it certainly is more evident and reenergizing today.

Thats interesting both Evers and Beckwith both fought in World War 2.

Why was he not the leader of the Civil Rights Movement🤔
My same question
@bb3ll07 I’ve been doing a lot of research and I think BA would be devastated if they knew the truth about the CRM. Mr Evers di€d two months before the famous March on Washington.
Shame on the system

There not suppost to try you twice only once here in America only once
The first trial ended in hung jury, you can be tried another time if it was hung jury. The second one was also hung jury. You can't be tried twice if you are aquitted of the charges the first time.
