She does not look 90 at all. She looks amazing ❤️
Very strong woman
She should be in Magazines.
Beautiful at 90
Miss Myrlie looks absolutely amazing ❤
She looks very healthy! And does have a good memory. How inspiring. I'm not surprised though. Amazing couple.
I agree! ❤
We are listening to and looking at 90 year old woman. So grateful she's still among us.
90! Her beauty is powerful even age can't disrupt it. Amazing!👸🏾
AMEN, my grandmother lived to be a 101. And she has always told me if you walk in God’s light and find purpose no matter how small or great the purpose, then you have meaning in life. And that is Myrlie Evwers- Williams.
WHAT!!! I had no idea she was 90. Wow, God has surely preserved this awesome woman!!❤
Yes , she’s giving early 60’s at the age of 90. When you fight the good fight , he will let you age gracefully…
AMEN ❤
Mrs Myrlie Evers is a true definition of a strong Black woman
Amen
Oh yes!!! A phenomenal woman!!!
She was that before losing her husband. It's quite disgusting how strong our women have to be in this nation. Bless ALL black women
May God bless you and keep you safe from all harm 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️.
EXACTLY!!!! Too many Black woman use that word WAY TOO LOOSELY!!!
"Vengeance, by doing well. By achieving." The maturity, eloquence and tenacity.
that’s an empty platitude. it really isn’t true
Great motivational perspective
@@sarahbaartmansrevenge Interesting take and I can kind of agree a little. Also, I hope Mitrice’s family gets justice as her case was very strange.
That's her television ANSWER.
I'm so ashamed that we as a country could ever justify treating black people like this. And thinking this was acceptable behavior. It's insane.
why are you speaking in the past tense? this country hasn’t made one bit of progress with respect to race relations over the past 60 years…
Thank you for recognizing that this happen. ❤
America---the GENESIS of the CASTE society. . . .sad, just sad.
its the effect of slavery.
@@sarahbaartmansrevenge Am looking for the dispute in talking to myself an in 61 years of living unfortunately your not even close to wrong !!
This was *only* 60 years ago!!! Racism is still alive and well today no matter how much people want to say differently!
thank you, you would think that this would be obvious. where are these weirdos in these comments coming from, acting like this is all in the past??? 😳
@@cme2025my parents headed west from the deep south in the 1960s. in his later years, my father said that california was the most racist place he’d ever lived in. so ‘the west’ doesn’t have clean hands either. it’s the WHOLE DAMN COUNTRY
Racism is a joke in 2023 a fetish trend its not the same as the 1960's decade in life racism was horrible in the 60's I would assume
@@cme2025A true blessing, that your family got away from that place…Not much has changed there, if anything at all..
most people I've met, when. I speak to them courteously and kind , I get a positive response so if they're racist that's on them. I'm not going where I'm not welcome, God said separate yourselves from among them do not mix with the heathen
She looks AMAZING. 90 years young.
She looks like a lady in her 60s.
I had the pleasure of meeting her and Mrs. Coretta Scott King 25+ years ago. Both women exuded a grace that can't be qualified. Just class personified.
Une grâce incommensurable j'ajoutes
She looks 3 times younger than 90 yrs old, especially with all she's gone through. God Bless her and her family. It's tragic her husband died for voting rights other Americans freely had. She was wise in the fact the best revenge is success and going on to live a great life of accomplishments. She is a strong woman who went on to do great things. She is amazing?
What an amazing woman! Such strength, class, and grace!
THE DAM EPITOME OF STRENGTH CLASS GRACE
Ms Evers looks amazing for 90 years old. She was blessed with a long life.
Ms Evers looks amazing at 90 years old*
Yes
@@user-pi9rj8if8t Thank you!
@@user-pi9rj8if8t my grammar is trash lol
I had the pleasure of hearing her speak when I was at Morehouse. She’s beyond inspiring. Definitely one of our heroes. “Vengeance by doing well…by achieving”
She is so beautiful and eloquent. I was 8 years old when her husband was killed. My mother was upset. Thank you Miss Evers!
Mrs 😇
“AIN’T GONE LEAVE THAT MAN!!!” - Myrlie Evers-Williams ❤️💯🙌🏾 2:19
ALEXA PLAY I LOVES YOU PORGY BY MILES DAVIS
"Excuse my grammar"... what a gem.
This is a ICON… thank you Mrs Evers for this monumental interview
God bless Mr Evers🙏🏿RIP….
Shes so honest about her real feeings, so raw with it. I love that. She didnt sugarcoat her trauma. Shes 90 years old and absolutely beautiful, inside and out. God bless her!
When I was attending Jackson State University, my grandparents took me to this house and they told me to look at this history and take this in. I have an opportunity to learn and do more than what they were able to do in their time. I appreciate them and the Evers’ legacy. I’m happy that their former residence is a landmark in Jackson,Mississippi. I feel so blessed to that memory. They made being black equivalent to excellence and sacrifice.
Beautiful ❤
Beautiful woman.
Her honesty was invigorating! I respect her
I'm glad she chose to move on with her life and marry again; all while never forgetting her first husband. She is grit, determination and grace personified.
WE AS BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO COME BACK TO THIS SO WE CAN STOP BEATING DOWN EACH OTHER ON SOCIAL MEDIA & REAL LIFE!!!!!
WE NEED TO REALIZE THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES & WE NEED TO BUILD OUR BLACK FAMILIES/BLACK COMMUNITIES!!!!
THIS SAME VILE EGREGIOUS RACISM EXIST TODAY!!!!
💯
Well said. Will we ever get there?😢
@Tiggerboo41 yes! I have a mustard seed of faith! All is possible!
Indeed
“Ain’t gone leave that man.” She really loved him.
Her candor is much appreciated. Not everyone would admit to having feelings of vengeance when experiencing injustice. This is going to help a lot of people.
Won't help anyone. Stop the pathetic hyperbole
Yeah, F all that forgiveness talk. I'll never forgive
NEVER FORGIVE OR FORGET ! eff all that other mess, it’s a new day
She is a strong, eloquent and admirable woman. The way she still talks about her husband today... the way she wants him to be remembered... shows how good of a man, husband and father he was and how much they loved each other. It hurts my heart to know that hatred and ignorance took him from his family.
Medgar Evers was a courageous, brave man and a martyr of our modern civil rights movement
Vengeance by doing well and being successful - WOW. what's an extraordinary woman and legacy through such pain of her husband's death. What an incredible moving life their family has lived and continues to live. CBS - Please do MORE of these stories!
AMEN!! And it can fill the void that the schools that aren’t allowed to teach about this story, and how they triumphant over tragedy through nonviolence even though this is American history! I wonder would DeSantis and his folks be offended by this story too!❤❤❤
My initial impression of Mrs Evers was how beautiful and vibrant she is. She truly was given courage and strength from the most high. I thank God for her and her late husband for a life of service in human rights and justice. Thank you, CBS.
What a Beautiful dignified honest lady, she’s aged so beautifully and still fighting for our equality. RIP Medgar Evers ❤
What a phenomenal woman ! She’s very inspiring 🙏🏾
A Queen and not because she was married to Medgar, but because she, herself fought for rights, fought for what was right, herself. Outside of his shadow, but a blessing their union was and seemingly still is. ❤ Thank you Mr and Mrs Evers
This woman has always been so elegant! I'm so happy to see her doing well at 90 years young! It's admirable to see that after 60 years, she still holds such high regard and an undying love for her dear husband! ❤️
My heart bleeds, cries and screams joy all at the same time. To be amongst this deep history of my people is extremely moving. She’s the epitome of strength and grace. Just beautiful ❤️
Mrs. Evers is a class act. Beside every great man is a even greater woman. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Gayle King. Great interview. This made me so proud to be a African American woman. Well done.
She was very honest about her feelings and had EVERY ROGHT to feel that way.
Your Husband was one of GREATEST CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS in my 63 years of life, and we deeply appreciate his efforts to make it right for Black Americans in this country ✝️🙏💕
❤❤
Powerful. My college friend's grandparents were friends with them and lived in the house directly across the street. I spent the night a few times in the early 2000s and always found myself waking up and looking out the window at the spot medgar died in . I remember feeling so sad to see how life just went on in the neighborhood and disappointed that we were havings some of the same convos about race despite all the assassinations.
I am in tears. Thank God for them both.
She articulates herself sooo well! She is so royal and regal
"vengeance. by doing well." I can't even describe how that statement makes me feel, how this entire interview makes me feel.
She looks amazing and has done so much in 90 years. What a inspiration!
She looks so incredible to be 90. She definitely doesnt look it. I admire the fact that she made sure her husband's death wasn't in vain. Such a wonderful story.
May God continue to bless Mrs. Myrlie Evers-Williams and her family. She looks absolutely wonderful for 90 years of age.
This brought a tear to my eye 😢! God bless the Evers family ! People really gave their lives to the struggle
90 where???? She looks marvelous 😍
She's amazing! Thank you for your work, strength and candor and keeping your husband's legacy alive and well. ❤
She was always so pretty to me. Just pure beauty inside and out.
The grace! I could listen to her speak all day! ❤ Our history
Thank you for this portrait. Somehow I made it to 69 years of age without ever hearing Mrs. Evers speak. An unfortunate deficit in my life. Such eloquence and grace, courage and integrity, determination and strength. I appreciate immensely her willingness to speak candidly about her true feelings. I wish I'd had a chance to meet her while I was living in MS.
I always loved Myrlie speeches. She was so regal and such an eloquent speaker . I wasn’t born until the 70’s, but the civil rights movement helped shape me as a person growing up in the north. So grateful Medgar Evers and Myrlie and all my black heroes. I miss all my old heroes. We don’t have the same leadership now. 😢❤
I’m going down to Mississippi and plan to view this historical landmark ❤
What a stirring interview! What a woman! Thank you, Gayle.
Wow! She looks beautiful & much younger than 90. She looks like she’s in her mid 60’s-early 70’s! Seriously! God Bless this woman ❤️
So many comments focused on her youthful appearance lets acknowledge her intelligence, determination and loyalty to her purpose! SALUTE.
Amen
I think you missed the point. Hatred ages you and can make you bitter.
She’s beautiful.
Such a phenomenal woman with the determination like no other.
This was a wonderful segment about her life and accomplishment.
This interview made me cry sooo much. I feel changed just by watching it...I cant even imagine being so blessed as to meet her in person. Excellent job Gayle! ❤❤❤
I love her transparency. She's so pure.
Why do I cry see this so proud of her. God bless you ma'am she look so beautiful
Thank for what you do
Ms. Evers Williams is as beautiful as she was 60 years ago.
Just got done watching Ghost of Mississippi. Cried like a baby. Great movie. I wanted to look up any interviews or old footage. Found this first. What a beautiful, fierce woman.
When I was younger I wanted to go to Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, unfortunately due to some life issues I was unable to attend. But I never knew this rich ( his-story )of him and her until now thank you for this!! BTW I did go to college as an adult and graduate at Winston Salem State University.
Loved the transparency of her telling her journey! Wow. I can only imagine the different emotions. To see the fruit in her life today though. Amazing ❤👏
She's so poised - so eloquent and thoughtful. Never rushed her words and when she speaks --- we listen. She visited Spelman (which is showing as a misspelling as I type this and let's you know the nuances of the inequity she discussed) during my sister's college days (close to commencement) and it seemed as if the campus stopped.
She was honest. Most would try to talk about harmony. She was honest. Was powerful ❤️
Still beautiful and graceful. Real class never fades. One of the great Queens. She outlived her two fellow sisters in the fight Coretta King and Betty Shabazz. The three pillars.
Gail needs to stop trying to put words in people's mouths when she's interviewing. Smh
This is still overwhelming! And, THEY want to cancel CRT? Teach you children, please.
There's no way this queen 👑 is 90!!❤
Brilliant....we need to hear more from her
God Bless this beautiful woman and her family. Keeping Medgar Evers memory alive.
Thank you Mrs Evers for sharing this very intimate part of your life
This interview brought tears to my eyes. Well don’t, Gayle and God bless you Mrs. Evers!
This is black history and appreciate you for uploading.
WOW WOW WOW!!! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 She is a POWERHOUSE.
God bless you Mrs Evers.. im so glad you stood for your husband and continued the fight.. you did it with so much grace and elegance..
What an Amazing phenomenal woman! She continues to carry the torch that her husband once carried. Mrs. Evers, Medgar will never be forgotten. He is one of the EXCEPTIONAL PIONEERS in the freedom of blacks in our country! Thanks for your strength! And Gail this was a great interview.
What an inspirational soul. Mrs. Evers is transparent and thoughtful, and I thank you for allowing the public a front row seat expressing your feelings and innermost thoughts of your life in the fight. What a beautiful person. Please, there should be a new movie/documentary about the life of this first family of the Civil Rights Movement.
Great story. She looks great to be 90 yrs old. This needs to go viral,
Myrlie Evers is an inspiration!
OMG I saw this the other morning while getting dressed for work and what to watch but had to leave.. So glad this appeared on my list to watch..📺
WOW!! She loved him so much til she said I ain't gonna leave him! That's something! That's really something! Man, she really loved him! That's a beautiful thing! Thanks for sharing this! That was such a beautiful moving interview
What a BEAUTIFUL INTERVIEW! ❤❤❤
This was a beautiful interview ❤
Not only should she be angry over racial violence, the entire world needs to be
This lady is Beautiful inside and out!
90 years old and still amazing!!!
Her honesty is a testament to everyone's humanity because lies just hurt ourselves and others. So real, so beautiful, and absolutely amazingly strong.
This woman captured my heart as a kid when I saw The Ghosts of Mississippi for the first time. Such a strong, intelligent woman with a beautiful soul. I’m so glad she’s still here to remind us that hate is never the answer ❤
What a strong lady.
Mr Evers has been DEAD for such a long time but Mrs Evers has NEVER forgotten! Now that's a wife!
She looks amazing and how she speaks is impeccable. I love how she still speaks life into Medgar Evers name while embracing the past trauma of the hate and anger they endured in MS
She look like she is in late 60s or 70s but nowhere need her 90s, God is definitely a keeper!🎉
And to think, some in this a country don’t think this type of history is worth teaching. Black history is American history and it is important to all of our futures.
Worth? They are intentionally and systematically disassembling black nationalism so pride in our nation weakens, we forget the sins of the oppressors, and little black kids feel further ashamed of who they are, less tied to their people and believe they come from nothing. This is a deliberate effort to destabilized and erase us from history. People who have no pride in their race marry out and give their wealth and money to children who look and share an increasingly smaller link to the DNA of their ancestors. European history however will stay in these schools and kids will be taught about how those people conquered the world and set the moral compass.
Powerful interview. And Thanks Mrs Evers for all that you done. Thank you and amen🙏🏽
Wow, the strength of a strong black woman! Powerful! God bless her and to everyone who fought for justice and equality!❤❤❤❤❤
I have so much respect for everyone that have given their lives to make this world better for me and my family.
Moxie. Backbone of steel. A marble shaft. Just everlasting.❤️❤️❤️
Amazing, strong, and beautiful- inside as well as outside! Love the love!
I can feel the history in her voice.
Awesome and gracious lady. I learnt so much from this interview. It also taught me that I have so much more to learn about positive response to negativity. Thank you Mrs. Evers.
When I worked at Alcorn State University, she had a home on campus a few houses down from me.
She’s in her 90s and she looks freaking Amazing!!!
Mrs. Evers Williams reminds me of the dignity and eloquence of my mother and grandmother's generations. Part of the reason this entire country isn't burned to a crisp is because of the ultimate character of those people.
