They only added 2 ships so there 5 for 5v5.. Theyve already announced theyre not releasing anymore content for squadrons. Even less likely now since lucasgames and massive are working on a open world starwars game.
Edit: also ea lost its exclusivity license so unless they wanna be sued they legally cant add to it. And no more starwars games untill 2023 when the contract expires also to avoid lawsuit

It takes hours for no good reason, at least in ED and SC all those buttons have a reason to exist. In SW Squadrons the game is dumb and all those options are pointless making the configuration tedious and complex for no reason.
Also, the hotas support is ridiculous.

@Winston Smith Yep, that’s what most people don’t realize. DLCs were always a part of video gaming. Back in the day, they were called Expansion Packs. I hope that we go back to those days when expansion packs are released with new ships, maps and storyline.

I was let down by the PSVR graphics. Like a LOT. I was confused cause the SW battlefront one VR mission looked SO GOOD. But then I realized it was two different studios. But I bet squadrons looks amazing PC VR though.

I feel like this is actually what would happen to a rookie pilot while their ship is heading to a debris field.
And then you consider that debris fields aren't actually a threat to even modern spacecraft and by the time we have full scale dogfights in space they'll be even less of a threat

I didn't get a stick myself but I can still feel the general pain of SC
A friend and I were all excited and bought starter ships in middle school. We're in our 3rd year of college now lol. All of the development videos and blog posts have been interesting and I've learned quite a bit about how games are developed so I wouldn't say it was a complete waste. I haven't played the alpha in a while though. Just check back on progress every few months until there's more things to do.

It's a shame that Joe uses X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter as his base comparison when, naratively speaking and mission-design wise, both the original X-Wing and Tie Fighter games were vastly superior.

I feel like this is going to be something I’ll really enjoy 20 years from now. By then VR will probably be much more ironed out and mainstream and I won’t have to drop $600 for all the equipment needed to play it with that fully immersive experience.

It's a shame that the games with the most post-launch plans are the ones that have no soul and are full of microtransactions. And yet the better ones that are more consumer friendly and solid games on their own are just put out and forgotten by the publisher because they don't see making as much money off of it.
So, you're saying you Want it to be a Live Service instead? They've trained you well.
I think this is a one time full release cbeause it's a passion project. Not cause they see it as a game that won't make a lot of money.
Bro, you're missing the point... Most of the time, post-launch support is about fixing a game that was buggy and incomplete at launch. But when a game is complete at launch (like this one), post-launch support is not necessary..... unless you're talking about DLC, which I still feel is unnecessary if the game has all the story and content at launch....
@@guyincognito7188 This games as a service argument is a load of bull in itself. Hell, I’ll be willing to pay money for EXPANSIONS, as in - added content that’s added to an ALREADY COMPLETE game, that adds at least half the game’s worth of new content.
“Games as a service”, though, is double-speak for releasing half-baked games with post-launch DLC’s that mask critical patches as NEW CONTENT OMG. That I am completely against.
This game is great - thought out, polished and exciting, but lacks content for sure. But just as Joe said, the price tag reflects that. And if there’s an expansion that adds significant amount of same thought out and polished content, with seamless queueing and “one in a party has it - everyone has it” access - I’d be more than willing to pay from 20 to 40 bucks worth depending on how much content there is...

Compared to Elite Dangerous this one was easy to jump into. ED equally as mesmerizing in VR but the action in Squadrons is simply incredible.

Imagine ED had just a hint of content like this one... or making pve worth something... xD

I have too say after expecting a shallow, loot box filled, bare minimum mess. I had a lot of fun with this game, even if you don't have the gear Joe has , it's just a much fun so I agree this is definitely worth a play
This guy is GREAT !!! as a 50 yr old gaming and computer nerd it is great to see someone living their nerd dreams.
Between this and Jedi: Fallen Order, EA Star Wars might actually be on the right path now. Even with Battlefront II they started showing promise. Sure the loot boxes and progression were bullshit, but the developers stated committed to that game for years, adding tons of new content for free. There is hope at last

Problem is they cut support for Battlefront 2 and instead are making Battlefield 6. And there's been no reports of them making Battlefront 3 even though there gonna make a Jedi fallen order sequel

This game made me make the VR leap. In exchange for the graphical downgrade you're able to interface with video games in ways I never imagined. VR was the itch I didn't know I've wanted scratched after 22 years of playing video games.

Angry Joe gave Star Wars: Squardrons a 10/10 at a certain controller setup, but gave Ghost Of Tsushima 9/10 because it lacks humor?
Eh, joe is a known star wars nerd, so it tends to lean to him giving bad star wars games harsher scores and good star wars games higher scores. Thus with Joe and star wars games expect it to earn or lose a point based on his fan-ness of it.
@Shadow Knight the issue people probably have with the game is games don't need to be funny/have humor. It has small touches here and there like the fundoshi but the game for the most part is meant to be a more serious tale, funny enough the samurai film comparison can be brought back to that being most samurai films have a serious take with no humor at all. The lack of humor being the main factor for it's rating is what irks people when humor is something a game does not need. Hell people pointed out fairly that this game has more glaring flaws then tsushima did (namely you have to have a very expensive and very particular setup to get maximum enjoyment vs the game having little in the way of humor.) But I also countered that to a extent with my above point. The thing is both of these games having there ratings seem to boil down to opinion factors when it comes to pros or flaws then it does hard factors, as for tlou2 honestly I have to support joe on that, the game had the issue of being far to decisive to be a great game, but I will cut it some slack and mention most of it's issues stem from naughtydogs poor handling of the PR (deliberately inflaming people) rather then the game itself, though the message is a bit poorly done from a story standpoint.
@Shadow Knight like I said, only reason I agree is the fact the game honestly carries to much baggage with it. Plus it didn't add to much feature wise to the original. THOUGH I don't mind people liking it. I can see why people would like it since if they liked the first they would probably like 2 while I can also see why people dislike it especially considering naughty dog pretty much firebombed any good graces they had with the way they handled the leaks.
@Shadow Knight Saying Ghost Of Tsushima lacking humor is like saying The Last Of Us lacks a character like Crash Bandicoot. Read the tone and atmosphere.
Shadow Knight 6 is definitely deserved wouldn’t rate it higher, I personally don’t like the story as Joe said himself the gameplay and graphics saved the game. I appreciated the lack of humor in ghost of Tsushima, not sure how it would be ok to include any in a terrible situation the people of the island are in when also considering the personalities that the characters are given very few would fit a comic relief role

Except this engine can't get over 60 fps in 2020. Everybody is locked at 60 fps which leads to a horrible VR experience. You can tell Joe hasn't played many VR games because VR runs like absolute poop for Squadrons.

i love your videos man amazing work as always. i thought i would just say that i run the T.flight Hotas X and i was able to run the game with it and map all the keys to what i needed in about 30-60 min not shore if it was just your controller but thought i would let you know that it dose work with this HOTAS all be it a bit tricky to get started :) keep up the good work
Oh man, i didnt even knew that those sticks existed anymore. I remember that my old computer for some old reason came with a fliying stick. And i ended up playing a lot of games with it because around that time most games had awfull keyboard controls. I was easier to play soul reaver with a fliying joystick that with a keyboard lol

Many years of Battlefield flight controls mixed with my ELITE DANGEROUS rank really wasn't fair to all the Noobs trying to figure just WHY they have to adjust subsystems.......meanwhile I'm trying to hack this bitch into Frameshift Drive somehow and make record time to Hutton Orbital in an Awing.......there HAS to be a way.

ELITE PLATYERS: I was born into immersive spatial flight controls, molded by it.
I didn't play similarly difficult space combat sims until I was already a Man.

I dunno, even as someone who's played ED for years, setting up my X-52 for that was a cakewalk compared to this. Can't unbind the menu button, can only reassign it. Defaults to the toggle I'd want to use for shield facing, game forgets your hat is switched to 8-way instead of 4-way sometimes, etc.

Finally I found someone who might have dreamed of being a snow speeder pilot as much as I did with having my best friend in that back cockpit, firing lasers, lacing up an AT-AT’s ass while avoiding the blast of a surely doomed imperial, ahh the memories. I was born in ‘73 so it’s no surprise I wanted to be Luke skywalker. You guys are quickly becoming my favorite channel for all things in a galaxy far far away. You really sold the VR, good work guys.

A bit strange Angry Joe of all people gave it a 10/10, considering the glaring issues pointed out, especially with peripheral support, and a lack of post-launch content. Seeing everything on the surface the game looks pretty basic, especially with all the lore and spacecraft available in the the Star Wars Universe. It just looks like a gussied up mode in Battlefront, rather than a full fledged standalone. Guess I'll only be able to change my mind if I ever get a VR headset.
His 10/10 was his inner fanboy taking over.
It does not play similarly to BF2's Starfighter Assault. It's much deeper with a much wider variety of tactics available and systems/components to use.

This game in VR with a Hotas literally puts you in the Star Wars piloting experience. It's truly amazing! I experienced it with my Index and cheap Hotas.
I played it on psvr. I totally agree. Anyone knocking this game as not good or bad because EA has not played it in vr. The visual of being in the cockpit of an x wing in space flying around in a fleet battle is so epic and so amazing.

Mmm...if you like air combat games and like star wars then yes. But without the vr the experience and the limited modes of the game will likely get old fairly quick. Again. If you like these kind if games you'll have fun. And its only $40 or less on a sale of if you have ea access. I feel vr ir not its worth the money. But with VR its worth $60. It feels like some vr experience you would have at a theme park that you pay $20-40 for a one time pass. But its at home and you can play as much as you want.

@@quabeckjr3 I mean, the difference is only that they are spending the same money that they would on multiple games, but on only one game that they thoroughly enjoy. There is nothing wrong with that so long as the game isn't bad. Apex is by no means a bad game. Maybe it's not one you enjoy, but many others do. You don't get to ban players for spending money on a game that is made well and they enjoy. It would be a different story if the game just sucked.
@@quabeckjr3 I mean that’s kinda how you support BR games is through buying cosmetics but yeah no body should be spending thousands just to get an heirloom. A lot of the popular BRs have been out for 2 or 3 years so dropping 200$ into them isn’t bad if that’s your main game and wanna support

The game does not lack a little bit of content.
It lacks a LOT of content.
It's the campaign and 2 multiplayer modes.
Nothing more.
That is nowhere near enough content.
Imagine if they had all the different missions and objectives from Battlefront 2's Starfighter Assault mode.
Attacking a space station and a docked Star Destroyer.
Or even just some of the story missions, but as multiplayer modes.
Defending Esseles from attacking rebels.

Joe probably did some drugs that scrambled his memory. It is EA we are talking about. We need another 3 months to check if they will not activate microtransactions and ads in this game before it is safe to say that it is ok to boy.

Got it for free on Epic yesterday.
I have played a few missions of the Story mode.
A) Bothersome key mapping needed and it feels worse because at the start when you are trying to learn the game it constantly throws at you new keys that you will need to know and use in a blink of an eye when you fight. You will have to decide as soon as possible if you will play with mouse/ keyboard or joystick because you will be confused with the keys if you jump from one to the other. After a couple of fights I jumped to my joystick because mouse & keyboard are just not made for games like that.
B) Character "creation" is just a joke.
C) It is very frustrating to have you jumping from one scpachip to an other after a few fights while you are trying to learn how to use your ship is the best way.
D1) And they made it even worse having you jump from Republic to Imperial all the time. I have chosen to play as a Republic X-wing fighter people....what am I doing in a Tie Fighter shooting the "Rebels" ?
D2) And how am I going to follow the story and immerse if I jump from one side to the other? What is that sht? Who decided to make it that way? Was he a schizophrenic person? FK.....
The game had great potential but it is clear that someone (EA) didn't want to make it great.
Almost didn't get this when I heard it didn't support vr controllers but glad Joe has shown me the light! Going to pick this up this weekend.
