I really enjoyed this book, so now I'm shaking with rage over the fact that you didn't! Kidding, of course, I can't believe people are being rude because you don't share their opinion. Honestly, this is a problem these days, people are losing the ability to have a respectful discussion, it's like another opinion is a personal attack. It's exhausting. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this one. I gave it five stars, but I understand every issue you had with it. For me, it was just a darn great reading experience. I really liked the writing style, the whole book had this great flow to it, and I truly enjoyed being on the ride. I have DNF:ed a lot of books this year, I find so many authors writing style so bland and cold, so every time I find a book I actually look forward to picking up, it's a big win for me. Thanks for this review, it was very well formulated as usual.
I absolutely ADORED the writing style on this one. You are so right about that! I just wish the story overall clicked more for me, but I'll definitely be reading more from Kim in the future. :D Thanks for watching
I love watching book reviews that are so different from my own opinion. I personally loved it, albeit recognizing some of the flaws. Have you read other Korean horror? To me, it definitely aligned in tone and scope of other Korean horror I have read. There are some aspects you have to suspend belief for, but it just works for me.
I haven't read it yet, so I stopped at the spoilers, but I actually am more inclined to read it knowing it doesn't go straight to horror but has a proper build up.
I agree completely, it took me so long to get through this book even with how short it is compared to some but I couldn't get past how much it caused such a gross out reaction for me as usually body horror doesn't bother me but this one 🤢it came for me in the Illumicrate Evernight box and the art is pretty graphic so that should have been a sign
I have very similar opinions about this book. I enjoyed it but… definitely had some issues. However, I did find her an unreliable narrator from the beginning. I also didn’t understand why the chopsticks were such a horrible gift. I wish she would have explained why the gift was offensive.
I just finished this book and I completely agree. Ji-Won is completely unlikeable to me because of the insidious things she does; how she treated her childhood friends, even Geoffrey despite his flaws.
📯📯Potential Spoiler Alert. I just read this book and it was so boring. This book was my first Twisted Retreat book and unfortunately it was a duplicate, since this was in illumicrate’s, Evernight edition . Both editions were stunning! But I gave TEATBP a 2/5!⭐️. Her motives were not very compelling to me. I needed more character development. It had potential but The book really didn’t go far enough into the horror. I was hoping she would kill her mother and her father…that would’ve been more interesting. I wish this was a real serial killer horror with maybe a detective who dunnit with flashbacks. However, I think I will give this writer one more chance since there was a lot of potential here.

This is my first time really reading Korean horror, but I do watch a lot of Korean horror films. I'm definitely interested in reading more of it tho!
Appreciated and enjoyed your review.... felt pretty much the same way
Thanks for watching! I wanted to love this book so much and just couldn't.
I agree with most of what you said about this book. I almost didn't finish it. I'd give it ***.

I hope you enjoy it! There's definitely a TON of build up.

I feel like every single box had it in there this year! But yeah, the body horror was definitely super gross haha

OMG I completely agree! I was very confused by the chopstick thing.
I felt the same about this book
