Lmao I’m dying at you burping on sprints and then laughing for so long after 😂😂😂 that was hilarious oh my gosh. I’m the same way where once I start laughing I literally can’t stop hahahaha
Just wanted to comment to let you know how much you’ve inspired me to get back into reading. Lately I’ve been going for walks and listening to gothic classics (The Haunting of Hill House, Rebecca, and currently Dracula), and I’m loving it! Thank you for doing what you do!
I just read Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House and really enjoyed it. It was super odd, and Elinor was so intriguing as a character we follow. I really enjoyed the ending too. Funky and one of those books were you sit and think for long moments afteerwards 😅. I also read We Have Always Lived in a Castle by Shirley Jackson, and I really really loved that one. Probably on of my favorites, and it was also mind-boggling. I'm excited to see what else you pick up (only 7:45 in 😮). Thanks for a delightful spooky video. Fits to my spooky vibes I'm feeling 😁
Yes to stamp it or pass it I watch everyone’s version of it and literally never get tired of them!! Also totally agree with haunting of hill house. It does like stick with you though. I still remember the book vividly and it has gotten better with time in my mind
I just finished 'Haunting of Hill House' last week and gave it a 4 star too! Someone described it to me as a "quiet horror" and I thought that was the perfect way to describe it. The language was beautiful and the atmosphere was so perfectly unsettling.
Awwwww the spooky season is coming to an end!! 😒You put in a good ending!!! Thank you Gavin, for making all your spooky vlogs so much fun! Love your one-piece skull hoodie!!!!Your walk path was beautiful and peaceful, tho it did seem a bit spooky....lol🎃🕸👻
Fun video, I work night shift so I understand the sleep deprivation. I love T. Kingfisher! Her newest book ‘A Sorceress Comes to Call’ is now my favorite.
The way the ghosts immediately start taking the piss LOL ETA: As a fellow "Bear of Very Little Brain" stan, I love your sweatshirt at the end of the video
I love that I was there for the Roy and Harry drama 😂 It was iconic Also not you arguing with the ghosts 💀.... again! 😂 Thanks for another great video!!
Love you Gavin! You are so funny and just good vibes, honestly. Love the Slagatha videos especially and the ghost "hunt" stuff. Hope you and the cats are well
If anyone is in need of a horror book recommendation that's atmospheric: Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Picture it, 90's Mexico City, film industry, the occult, and two protagonists who feel like real people.
Tigger jumper made me so happy, so does the fact its a jumper! It had to be a jumper! Been binge watching all of your spooky content, really inspiring me to get back to reading!
I'm always excited seeing books I've read/have the exact edition of! The haunting of Hill house has an ending I'll never forget, loved it 😚😚 THAT BURP CLIP WAS SO FUNNY 😂😂😂😂 and omg letting ghosts decide your read 😂❤ I've started The Hollow Places yesterday! Its not the book you picked, but I received that Evernight set recently and I love it so much. Ive also listened to Wizard guide to defensive baking recently and I'm enjoying this author a lit.
Ohhhh I love how vibey this vlog is!!! I’ve always wanted to read Haunting of Hill House. I meant to read it along with you and Lexi but never got to it and then didn’t get the day off for the live show 💔
I love the Emboss or Toss version. Has a nice ring to it and sounds different to what the other Booktubers are doing! 😊 I rwally wanna do a 24 hour challenge one day. Either version! Was a fun video🎉 looking forward to the next 😁
I love The Haunting of Hill House! I've read a handful of Shirley Jackson books plus The Lottery story collection and Hill House is my favorite. I love the atmosphere, kind of psychological aspect, and subtext! Besides the Mike Flanagan series, it's been adapted twice: The Haunting (1963) and The Haunting (1999). omg Raven Cycle vlog next month 👀❤
The first time I read "Hill House" I didn't really get into it and didn't think much of it. The second time was much better, and I think it absolutely deserves its classic status. Jackson's character writing has a kind of ruthlessness to it - she doesn't try to make you like her characters, she just shows them to you without holding anything back, and it's fantastic. There was a very bad movie made of the book in 1999, and a very good one in 1963.
The Haunting from 1963 is the best movie adaptation of Hill House. It’s worth watching if you liked the book. In terms of a parody of researchers in a haunted house… could have been Hill House, could have been Hell House by Richard Matheson.
There is a movie called The Haunting with Owen Wilson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Liam Neeson that is based off of Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House. I watched it when I was a kid. I think it is closer to the book than the show.
The abuse of them ghosts lol ita strange but i read the haunting of hill house and enjoyed it but found it a slow read , almost like the atmosphere weighed it down if that makes sense ❤
Ack. I watched the haul-o-ween video before this one and I was like "I have an embosser! Why am I not doing 'Emboss or toss?'" and then you mentioned it here and I giggled for far too long. Seems like we have that problem in common.
YAY you read the haunting of hill house which is one of my all time favourite horror classic books. And the moment with the hand is really creepy! The tv series is very different from the book and IS my favourite tv series of all time. Even though it is a single season. I need to try a house with good bones at some point, it is waiting for me on my shelf and it sounds like the atmosphere element is really good. I have once done a 24 hours straight reading challenge before and it is so exhausting!! I am wondering whether it's time for me to take up the challenge again early next year...
I love your videos and your amazing content please stay safe and healthy and sending you prayers and blessings for you and your family love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤
Just wanted to let you know that the adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House is a movie called "The Haunting." It scared me so much as a kid but seems cheesy now. I still recommend giving it a watch.
Fantastic vlog Gavin! The Haunting of Hill House is one of my favourite books, and the film The Haunting (1963) is one of my favourite films, you should check it out. Best Wishes 💕 👻
I did a full just hanging at home reading Sodergren and I suggest Rotten Tommy, Night Shoot, The Forgotten Island, The Perfect Victim, and Maggie’s Grave.
If you haven't read 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson, I highly recommend. It is a very short story, probably would take you 15/20 mins. It is my favourite Shirley Jackson and will leave you thinking (or at least it has for me).
It's kinda funny how you are up trying to fix your sleeping schedule, and here I am watching this at 5:30am, just now gonna be going to sleep, lol btw I died at the burp live show fail omg-
excellent idea for messing up one's sleep schedule! lol but also, 4 books in 24 hours is pretty impressive, but i know you usually read faster than most
This is my 3'rd comment, ignore that.... but this made me realise I need to re-read The Haunting of Hill House because I don't remember ANYTHING about it haha. Love being awake at the witching hour as well, at night when everyone else is asleep, just me and the moon
I still work in st vincents hospice charity shop on one day and now I work in anothere charity shop I just got the new jub last year, so now I got two jobs yaay me.
Definitely recommend the movie for We Have Always Lived in a Castle, Sebastian Stan is super hot and creepy in it.... there's a scene of him in the bath 👀
My family had an old lady come and say she lived in our house when she was younger while we were moving in! She was very sweet and didnt stay long, but now that makes me terrified to read the book! Think I'll pass on reading it or else the what-ifs would haunt me....
I once caught my sister with carrot slices on her eyes because we didn't have cucumber, I cried laughing but I think I would have expired laughing if they had been banana slices 😂
I used one of those foot masks in university and it was a disaster there was dead skin everywhere in my dorm room and I had to wear socks in my SANDALS so people wouldn’t think I had a skin condition. It was horrible.
Oh my gosh I’m so sorry that happened to you!! I had a similar experience in that there was no dead skin for days, then I travelled 2 days to Australia that when I took my socks off, dead skin everywhere, and it must have been like that all through the 2 days of travelling 😅 I felt so gross
Thank you for this idea. I'm going to start outsourcing my life decisions to app ghosts. Can't be any worse than making decisions myself.
Gavin's flat ghost demanding "Hole" was not on my bingo card but honestly it should have been 😅😂
Lmao I’m dying at you burping on sprints and then laughing for so long after 😂😂😂 that was hilarious oh my gosh. I’m the same way where once I start laughing I literally can’t stop hahahaha
Same! I was confused why Jade was looking like this isn’t completely normal to do.
The banana on the eyes KILLED ME
Just wanted to comment to let you know how much you’ve inspired me to get back into reading. Lately I’ve been going for walks and listening to gothic classics (The Haunting of Hill House, Rebecca, and currently Dracula), and I’m loving it! Thank you for doing what you do!
I think if you like Dracula, I 100% recommend Carmilla. Another classic, but it is short and so lovely. Really atmospheric ❤😊
Gavin being caught in the giggle loop at 30:20 is just hilarious (I hope anyone gets this reference 😅)
The Haunting of Hill House is definitely one of my favorite books I’ve read this year. I’m a Shirley Jackson stan
LOL at you wearing that wholesome Tigger sweater during this vlog 😂❤
Seated. Sat. 🍿☕️
Comparing The Haar to Emperors New Groove is genius haha 👏 I love that book so much!! I’m so glad you loved it too 🥹😭
First neighbor drama now ghost drama😂
The fact that Haar means Hair in German, makes that book about 20 times less scary for me haha😂❤
👻💀OoOoOoOo HAIRRRRR oOoOoO💀👻
Now that you mention it, it's the same for me but I'm Afrikaans :D
I was never even opening the door to strangers, so they'd never get to ask. 😅
Thank you so much for showing us the burp mishap!! LOL!!!!!! Made me laugh!
Movie called The Haunting - has Catherine Zita Jones in it.
Yes ! Was just reminiscing about that film remember watching it when I was about 10 thinking it was so scary 😂
They also made one in the 1960s.
Love that this popped up right when I’m filming my own 24 Hour Horror Readathon Vlog! This is the motivation I needed! 👏🏻
The burp clip is killing me. 😂
I know!!! His uncontrollable giggles had me laughing so hard 😂 I’m the same so I get it 😂
I’m laughing so hard while being alone at home 😂 my neighbours are thinking I’m going mad 😂😂😂 this is so funny 🙈
Why was Jade so serious lmao
No one does reading challenges like Gavin. Mad respect 🫡
'emboss or toss' is also a catchy name
The Haunting movie released in 1999 with Liam Neeson is close to the book and I absolutely love that movie!
The part where the house keeper gives the warning both in the film and the book 😊
@@catherinepalmer4812 My daughter and I say it all the time! In the night. In the dark.
@@flwrchldbeck hahah yes awesome 😀

I like “Emboss or Toss”!

Your banter with ghosts is my favorite thing

not the banana slices 😂😂😂
Really enjoyed watching 😊 excellent as always
5:52 unexpected BTS 😂
I read Haunting of Hill House for my 24 hour readathon as well! It was so good, I'm glad you enjoyed it as well.
The stamp idea is awesome
You need to watch the 1963 movie The Haunting, based on Shirley Jackson's book. It's so creepy! Black and white is the best!
Tigger jumper made me so happy, so does the fact its a jumper! It had to be a jumper! Been binge watching all of your spooky content, really inspiring me to get back to reading!

The tab notebook is SUCH a great idea! Thank you for the video! You gave me so many ideas. (So sorry to hear about your dad 💚)
Ohhhh I love how vibey this vlog is!!! I’ve always wanted to read Haunting of Hill House. I meant to read it along with you and Lexi but never got to it and then didn’t get the day off for the live show 💔

The perfect video to spend Halloween with! 👻🎃
omg I love David Sodergren! I've read two and both were so thrilling - Maggie's Grave and The Perfect Victim.
Perfect Friday night watching!
YAY you read the haunting of hill house which is one of my all time favourite horror classic books. And the moment with the hand is really creepy! I would've just stayed off screen, & probably muted myself laughing hysterically

How about Rosemarys baby by Ira Levin, rosemary hears recorders being played through the wall 📖
I love when you talk to the ghosties!! LOLL!!!!!! They are pretty funny in this video!
Gavin you always bring more light into my life than the windows 😉
I also laugh a lot about things that I shouldn't find funny a long time after it's done.
Emboss or Toss was the winner for me
not the point of the video at all but i got SO excited to see a pirates life for tea in that stack 👀 i love that series sm
I did a full just hanging at home reading Sodergren and I suggest Rotten Tommy, Night Shoot, The Forgotten Island, The Perfect Victim, and Maggie’s Grave.
I love Shirley Jackson she is one of the favourite authors. Loved THe Harr to was so good.
I think you will love We Have Always Lived In The Castle Gavin especially if you are a fan of The Addams Family.❤
The visit you had with your black beauties was so sweet!
OMG, the banana slices made me laugh so hard 😂
If you haven't read 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson, I highly recommend. It is a very short story, probably would take you 15/20 mins. It is my favourite Shirley Jackson and will leave you thinking (or at least it has for me).
I have never been this early, lol. You have more willpower than I will ever have. I couldn't read for 24 hours straight-
It's kinda funny how you are up trying to fix your sleeping schedule, and here I am watching this at 5:30am, just now gonna be going to sleep, lol btw I died at the burp live show fail omg-
Rotten Tommy by David Sodergren is so good!
The banana on the eyes... 😂😂
And yet another year to survive to get to your Halloween vlogs...
Gav off to Australia???? I thought Gav was going to Egypt?? Xx
Gavin no! Don’t let them in the house!
I have absolutely zero idea how you survived staying awake that long- I would be on the floor by 18 hours, lol
Damn it now I need to read The Haunting of Hill House!
excellent idea for messing up one's sleep schedule! lol
but also, 4 books in 24 hours is pretty impressive, but i know you usually read faster than most
