- Well, today's video certainly won't make anyone upset at all... Today I am talking about the top 10 characters for Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter Pass 2 DLC that I DON'T want to see. Now, honestly, I am okay with just about everyone- even most of the characters on this list- but if I HAD to choose characters I don't want, this would be my list. I know a lot of people don't want Goku, while other people really advocate for DoomSlayer, Dixie Kong, or more, but I am trying to be uninfluenced by other lists here. I hope you enjoy it.

Does Phoenix really feel less Wright than having characters like Fox, Captain Falcon, Zelda, Dr Mario, Falco, Mr Game & Watch, R.O.B., Wolf, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Miis, Duck Hunt, Isabelle, & Piranha Plant on the roster?
I’m not advocating for Phoenix to be on the roster, I’m just saying we’re way past the point of saying that just because a character isn’t an active combatant in their own series must mean they wouldn’t be a good fit for SSB
You are wright, there are so many characters that simply aren't fighting related that it doesn't feels right just is not a good excuse

My #1 character I never want to see in Smash is Sora from Kingdom Hearts.

The only one I disagree with is Eggman. Eggman is one of the most iconic villains of all time, so if someone like Chaos gets in before he does, I can guarantee you that many people would be left gravely disappointed.
I'll be honest, if Eggman were included and implemented in a similar way as Bowser Jr. then it would feel really weird if his model ends up being smaller then Sonic's. I know about the whole Ridley thing and all, but as a huge Sonic fan i would find that really weird.
@@robmacher3253 Pitching in a bit late! I'd like to add something here. There are a lot of Fire Emblem characters and other Echos that fight a lot like each other, and I'd say Dr. Eggman would play a LOT differently compared to Bowser Jr. Just because they both have mechs, doesn't really mean they'll act the same.
To put it simply: Both can do things their own way, despite looking the part and unlike Echos.

Funky is superior.
Dixie is very important to the DKC series and depending on how they do her she might have been fine as an echo (think more like Ken to Ryu) or have her and Kiddy be a tag team (they travel like Ice Climbers but switch out like Pokemon Trainer)
And Funky is simply a fan favorite who can surf and even own a gun shop once
We need the next DLC characters to be Knuckles, Dante and Funky Kong

That *aside*, liked the vid and can definitely see and in some cases agree with the reasoning.
T Sizzle I mean, I still think Villager and WFT aren’t really suitable for fighting, I just think that Sakurai is an absolute mad lad who can make literally anything work. I don’t think it affects his chances in the slightest- but that wasn’t what this video was about :)

For the longest time, Smash has NEVER had a character with ice based attacks. Ice climbers is an exception because they had one game and wasn't even the most popular one, pretty sure it was #90. Mei from Overwatch would be the best candidate for that, can't think of any other character's who MAINLY have ice base attacks.

Great Vid Ink! while I disagree with a few characters in this list, I think that your points were great. Imo, I just want any new characters to be fun, that's all I want from Smash and the DLC.

Props to Shantae for utterly disappointing me with 1/2 Genie Hero and yet having enough potential for me to STILL want her in Smash.

I don't want to see Sora get in. I've never truly been a fan off the kingdom hearts series, and i would prefer so many other before him.
Yeah, imo he seems pretty generic without the Disney part. And I've met a ton of people who love Kingdom Hearts and want Sora in Smash but all of them think the series is objectively actually pretty bad.

While I don't agree with everything here, I understand your reasoning on most except for eggman. Like I get wanting other characters, Shadow and Tails do make sense.
Eggman however I believe would make the most sense, be the most fun and interesting of the bunch.
Maybe I can change your mind with this.
For one: Eggman is just as if not more important to the sonic franchise as the blue blur himself, Eggman was the original protagonist and he's an icon in gaming history at this point, The bosses against him are probably some of the most iconic stuff from sonic 1.
As for him not being the most fun? Allow me to refute your point, and elaborate in great detail on a moveset that would not only be great but wholy original for a vehicle character.
So obviously you'd have Eggman be in his patented EggMobile, utilising a variety of attacks for his bosses, E.G: Down smash has Eggman whip out the iconic ball and chain weapon and slam it on the ground, Down air could have the spike from the Spring Yard boss pop out and he crashes down to the ground like Banjo and Kazooie do for their dair, basically incorporating elements of all of eggman's bosses into his kit would be great fan service and also just, generally make him entertaining to play as, however I'm not done, as for his gimmick that's where things get interesting, if enough damage were to be done to his EggMobile it would be destroyed and eggman would be left with a simple Ray gun to defend himself, of course it would respawn after a certain amount of time, but until then eggman is left crippled and significantly weaker than he was before, Prioritising running away and making a hasty get away, similar to everytime sonic beats him in his games.
I think eggman has significantly more potential than Shadow or Tails as I feel like if they get in they'd feel all too similar to sonic, Shadow especially.
I fully acknowledge that objectively Eggman makes the most sense, and I do think that as far are notability he would be better than Shadow. Idk, like I said I am sure that they could do it in a way to make me egg-cited for the character, but it may be something I just need to see the trailer for to get hyped up for it
This Eggman sounds like Bowser Jr. to me. I think that it may be interesting to see any sonic rep, but here's a thought expirement: What if they did a "Sonic" pack sometime down the line, with Eggman, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, being added along with a whollee ton of sonic music, a few sonic stages. This will never happen, because it'll be so disappointing for non-sonic fans, and even for sonic fans, they'll probably predict the characters. unless they somehow do it in addition to another pack, which would be mega hype, but really unlikely. I know all the DLC characters have "gimmicks" and so do their stages, and Eggman doesn't really seem to as much as maybe Shadow. (Also with shadow they could do a sort of semi-clone pack with like Shadow hedgehog, Dark Link, Snake/Captain Falcon and basically just the "evil clone" characters and it would make for a pun... ) But i think this is the last pack, unless they add another for Switch Pro/Switch 2. I don't think they can make another Smash game without seriously changing it up, and will just keep porting ultimate.

I always liked the idea of him being in. I heard somewhere some leak on Reddit (so trust at your own discretion) that one of the remaining fighters is another Microsoft rep and there's a strong chance it's Doomslayer.
Chaos? Seriously? I know Sonic Adventure is a nostalgic game but Chaos was only a main villain there and doesn't even have a personality.

My thoughts:
10. Rabbids: Shouldn't be a fighter, maybe an assist trophy, or Rayman's final smash
9. Spyro: Never played the game, but a dragon character prolly won't work well as a fighter
8. Heihachi: Already a Mii Fighter, also a spirit (I think), we don't need another "fighting game" rep
7. Marx: Too small for smash, and would basically be the same as Kirby, we have enough Kirby reps
6. Earthbound rep: I think we need a new one, maybe Duster, or Porky, but I'm fine without one
5. Dixie Kong: We need a new DK rep, Dixie isn't it, maybe someone like Chunky, or Cranky
4. Dr Eggman: We need a new Sonic rep. We only have Sonic, and we need a Sonic bad guy
3. Doom Guy: I would like him in Smash, but he seems impractical for a kids game
2. Phoenix Wright: My personal top pick, he seems like he would have an interesting gimmick for a DLC
HM. Goku: No
10: Midna, Zant, Impa or any TLoZ rep: Midna is already an assist trophy, spirit and a costume (I think). Zant is already a spirit, but I could see him getting in. Impa could get in but I don't really see it considering that she is now a spirit, which technically deconfirms them, if a new spirit was brought out like hers. The thing with minmin, was that her spirit was already designed before DLCs were even introduced.
My top picks for DLC are Rayman, Dante, and Phoenix Wright, however my HM would be Pyra/Mythra
I thought of a really cool Zelda character the other day. You could have BOTW Impa, but all of her special attacks are one of the champion abilities. Hear me out:
Neutral B - Daruk’s Protection (Reflector AND counter but it breaks after counter for a while)
Side B - Urbosa’s Fury (Lightning strikes in front of you, distance depends on how long you hold it)
Up B - Revali’s Gale (sends her up and then paraglides for a short while)
Down B - Mipha’s Grace (Charges up, then heals you for 10%. Can’t be cancelled once you start charging and it takes a while to complete)
Idk just an idea but I thought it could be fun

I don't really like the Kirby games, but Marx would be way more interesting to me than most other Kirby reps just because of the magic potential. We don't have enough mages in smash.

I would love to see a character from a new genre.
There isn’t any horror characters in the game, and I know most people probably don’t like this character, but I think they should add Freddy FazBear. But that’s just a pipe dream imo.
It sounds like most of these characters on this list you don't want them in because you just don't like them like Dr Eggman and Dixie Kong
Kazuya or even Jin from Tekken would be better picks than Heihachi, first of all he is canonically dead as of Tekken 7, not to mention that his voice actor passed away as well, rest in piece Daisuke Gori. Plus Heihachi already had the perfect transition to the Smash style back in PS All-Stars, I don’t see Smash doing anything different or unique with him that hasn’t already been done in that game, and Sakurai’s whole thing is doing characters that are more challenging to develop for the party-fighter genre. Same goes for Phoenix Wright, would could Smash do differently with him that could top MvC3?
At this point, I want only one thing from each future Smash DLC fighter;
Someone, even if it's only one person, to be happy that a character they like is in the game. My favourite character isnt going to be in(Shadow), but I love to see people excited for their character, and a new playstyle coming to the game.
But this is your opinion, and that's fine too!

see now that's a good opinion, i personally don't care too much for Shadow upgrading to a full character myself despite liking the character and also LOVING his critically panned game (and falling in love with a song from the soundtrack Chosen One by A2) but if he did at least I know one player got their one and only. I might have gotten salty at fist with a few releases like I don't like Steve, he was at my tippy top of my do not want, but you know what, my nephew loves Minecraft and now he has a character to play in Smash, i might not be all that happy about Sephiroth but the truth is i might actually play him more than half the sword fighters due to the history i've had play Final Fantasy 7 and heck even Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring. i only found it jarring that they spent so much of that trailer referencing the movie over the actual video game, that's all. maybe i was salty when Byleth showed up but by the end i was just laughing at the realization that all Fire Emblem protagonists have swords (even the Mage just HAS to have one) and you know what i ended up really liking the design of female Byleth so i do play her sometimes, not as much as female Corrin but then again i have a dragon bias. i think after Steve i realized that i took forgranted that I got Terry Bogard in smash, even if he was not on my wishlist at all and i'd rather have other king of fighters, he should in all account be an unthinkable pick, him getting in should be anywhere from unlikely to impossible, but he is there, playable, and i play him all the time now despite never picking him in KOF cause Terry and his stage are repping 2 franchises that i love (even though i'm bad with him). but yeah im not so sure Shadow is gunna get cause of the trophy thing, but it's not unheard of! he could be the one this time to break out of the trophy case, so fingers crossed. I'm still holding out for mine no matter how hopeless it may be.
The important thing to note is that you specified that you *didn't want* these characters. A common mistake that gets a lot of people mad is when people say some characters *shouldn't* be in. Good job and great vid.

Well let see how much modern representation is in smash compare to the original.
All the Kirby stages are from dreamland, adventure and super star.
Not a single stage from the modern Kirby.
The entire soundtrack from Kirby Air ride, Dedede battle theme probably get remix to hell at this point.
The most recent one is from Brawl which is Kirby Squeak Squad, and one new song that not a remix is a Modern Kirby song... NOT EVEN ONE FROM EPIC YARN!
Literally, even if we got Kirby Ultra Sword and updates to Meta Knight costumes, we still have super star, dreamland, and air ride shove down our goddamn throats. Marx may add more Super Star representatives if he get in.

I feel Spyro would be more unique and fun to play, but to each their own.

I think geno is a very overrated pick I know relevance doesn’t really matter too much but geno seems so random and he is about the least iconic character out of the popular choices and he really doesn’t matter to gaming or even his own game sure he has moveset potential but to me he seems pretty undeserving of a spot
I really want Phoenix Wright in Smash, and even if he isn't very suited to fighting, people have still come up with moveset concepts
Really good video! But there are a few random things that I want to talk about.
1) It's kinda funny how your opinions on Marx and Bandana Dee are the absolute opposite of mine. For me, Bandana Dee is a fine enough choice for a Kirby rep, but I don't get the praise for the character, and I feel like Marx has way more personality, and would give us a Kirby villain (let's be honest, Dedede and Meta Knight aren't even villains at this point). I completely respect your opinion, I just found it funny how opposite they are.
2) I agree that Dixie wouldn't be the most interesting pick as her own fighter, but I think she would work well with Diddy as a partner (kinda like Pokemon Trainer). Duke of Dorks made a video fixing the DK crew, so that's where I saw this idea.
3) Very refreshing to see I'm not the only one who doesn't absolutely want Doom Guy in Smash. Honestly, I think a Team Fortress 2 rep would be better to introduce the fps genre in Smash, mainly due to its cartoony design that would go hand in hand with Smash's cartoony-ish overall design, but also because I feel like a tf2 rep could have some very unique gimmicks (for instance, you could be able to equip different weapons, that change some of your moves' stats, such as speed and damage), and the music is just amazing. Another pick I would be happy with for an fps rep would be Gordon Freeman, though I do prefer a tf2 rep.
4) A movie character that I feel would be pretty cool in Smash would be Ralph from Wreck it Ralph. I don't have it as one of my most wanted fighters, but it would be pretty cool.

I am sorry but I would actually be kind of mad if Goku got in. This is probably one of the few characters I would truly despise to see there, as it opens up possibility for literally any TV character out there (like Popeye) and makes actual videogame characters even less likely to be in.
It would destroy the concept of "a celebration of gaming".
that's a fine opinion to have an i get it, Goku is right up there on my do not want list despite knowing he is not from a video game there for probably isn't even being considered by Nintendo anyway, but i've already talked on a few posts on this thread about how like with sword fatigue for years i've been going through Goku fatigue, playing most of the DBZ fighting games to come out and having the main character take up several main roster and DLC roster slots just makes some people not mind if he never guested in a game ever (imma give Jump Super and Ultimate stars a pass here since many characters have multiple versions due to how the deck system worked in those games) i like Goku just fine as a character, but even if he was to make it how could you really make one slot do justice to a series that's been going on since 1989 and that's if we are ONLY talking about Z, putting him in not only could break wall but open the flood gates to possibly disaster maybe, who knows. but you know, Goku has enough fighting games and is in enough roster slots than any game i know, i simply don't think he needs to take up one in smash. i don't know there are some out there that want him, and you know what, even though i don't more power to em, we all want someone in that roster to make it ideal don't we?

I don't really get why do you not like impa's newest design, i actually like it and in my opinion having impa as zelda's best friend instead of her bodyguard is a very good idea, and not only because for some reason people started simping for her, because her being younger and zelda's best friend instead of her bodyguard makes us get more personality out of impa and it gives her more time in the spotlight.

I agree with your list on everyone except dr eggman. I think having a villain for dlc would be awesome. That and it being a sonic rep would be great. Sonic deserves another character and I think eggman would be unique. I really wanted shadow as a new sonic rep but eggman would be a 2nd choice for me. Tails would be cool aswell. He’s a character in ssf2 so it would be nice.
I would take tails over eggman. And the Project M mod totally sold me on the idea of knuckles. Eggman is a solid 3rd or 4th choice for me

I’d honestly prefer Frank West over Phoenix Wright, he has more to work with and is kinda more cartoony in a way than Phoenix. Yes Frank looks more realistic but Phoenix is a bit more grounded in reality

Alright here’s a character I wouldn’t personally want that’ll get me a bit of flak: Geno
- Only appears from a single old Mario RPG game from 25 years ago and didn’t even do much once he joined the party
- Limited personality aside from being uh... serious I guess? Maybe mysterious even though he did say exactly who he is and why he’s there
- Unappealing design. The game in general is one of the ugliest looking Mario games I’ve ever seen and it didn’t age well
- Very obscure and minor. I don’t know who’d be excited for it who wasn’t specifically among those asking for it for years and bear in mind the majority of the playerbase won’t even know him (The community is a very small part of it)
- Half the reasoning people give for him is that he’s requested for a while and Sakurai wants him. What’s exciting about that?
Don’t mean to slander anyone who wants him. I get to an extent why people would feel a long requested character should get in eventually but I really can’t get into it. And like most of the picks in this video, I guess it gets in the way of Waluigi, a character who’s personality would make for a ton of fun and is guaranteed to hype the playerbase up
i want to know if waluigi is a genuinely wanted character outside of the inner smash community. i mean my immediate reaction would be "oh, great, another boring mario side character". sure, he's weird and he's amassed a cult following, and he could be made interesting, but he is the complete definition of a side character.
the whole "waluigi for smash" situation has definitely shown that he has more genuine fans than a lot of people probably thought, but i don't think he would be a genuinely hype character when i feel like most of the reason all the waluigi support started was as a joke, or simply to complete the full set of plumbers. of course, that hasnt stopped nintendo before, with the sans mii costume being in the game, so i wouldn't be surprised if he got in over geno. i just don't feel like it would be a very exciting choice for DLC, i feel like he would have been better as an inclusion in the base game, similar to daisy.
about geno, i think all those things you brought up are valid (except unappealing design, how dare you,) but geno's popularity and importance really should not be underestimated, despite his relevance only lessening over time- mario rpg was a lot of peoples' introduction to rpgs as a whole, and it was what the whole concept of paper mario and M&L sprung off from. geno represents mario RPGs, something that in my opinion would bring a lot more flavor to smash than the milquetoast party or sports spinoffs, and i would say his "obscurity" is lessened just by... the fact that a lot of people want him. sort of a banjo situation.
not saying this all justifies him over another character of course, just saying these are the reasons people want him.
Interestingly enough, I have been doing a large poll of people who aren't involved in the inner smash comunity at all to see who they would want as a fighter. out of around 800 votes, waluigi was in 1st place with about 85 votes

Like I said, I do completely understand why people want him. Though while I’m not sure that SMRPG’s significance necessarily makes Geno himself really important, it’s not importance I’m concerned about (Otherwise my most wanted wouldn’t be Waluigi who also isn’t important). What I like to see in these characters are vibrant personalities and widespread appeal. At the end of the day, people play as characters because they enjoy them, not because they respect their significance in whatever genre they’re in

- I would like to see the Castle Crashers as a playable character
- I would like to see Alucard (Castlevania) as a playable character. I know he’s already an assist trophy but I haven’t got to play him since Castlevania SOTN
- I don’t think Goku would be good for smash only because as soon as an anime character like that gets in, a majority of the anime community will start spamming about “what about _____” or “If you put in Goku why can’t you put in _______”
- No more Fire Emblem characters, we already have enough

Marx would be an amazing fighter simply due to the immense amount of potential the character has, no moveset I see from the character is exactly the same simply because his quirky design allows for so much versatility, but then again, you only played Kirby Air Ride, give KSA a ride and perhaps you could see why he is such a unique and interesting fighter.

I don't know much about Rayman but the only Rayman game I ever played is Legends and for me it is a really boring game one of the worst on my switch and Mario + Rabbit was a lot better game than Legends( and if Rayman is a future playable character I will be meh. 😐)
Honestly, imo, Rayman's spinoff games like Rayman Arena are much more fun than his mainline games. But I don't blame you for that! I actually still haven't played Kingdom battle, but I would like to! It seems fun, despite the rabbids

I disagree with a lot of this, he also basically said hed like spyro just he wants crash more, heihachi would be interesting and another fighting rep, eggman would have a wicked moveset and another villain, I get this is his opinion and all but I just dont get how he could actively not want them. I get Marx, Dixie, and another earthbound, Marx is already in the game, already got a good representation of earthbound, and Dixie isnt exactly interesting.

The one I want the least to join smash is Sora from Kingdom hearts for 3 reasons.
1. Similar towards Doom guy here, if Sora gets in they would have to cut all Disney 4th party characters and what is Kingdom hearts without Donald or Goofy.
2. Sora just being a collaboration character and not having his own world to stand on without the appearance of Disney characters and thier dimensions.
3. This one is biased, I just don't like Disney.

The only argument i disagree is the whole "Sora a collab character to tie Disney and Final Fantasy". Kingdom Hearts has developed so far into becoming its own thing with some Disney on the side. You have lore with the Foretellers, the Keyblade War, Nobodies, Heartless, the worlds they live in like Destiny Islands, Land of Departure, Traverse Town, Twilight Town, Radient Garden, The World that Never Was, The Keyblade Graveyard, The Final World and its characters.
@@hwanniggles187 Even with all that lore, Kingdom Hearts is still a collaboration between Disney and Square Enix. And Disney movies take most of the worlds visited in the series. And we know Disney owns Sora. And the Mickey Mouse emblem is hanging off Sora's canonical Keyblade. You can look at the original worlds all you want. But Kingdom Hearts would still be Disney. Also, another reason I don't want Sora is because I worry that he's going to get the Cloud treatment of being left undubbed. Not helping matters is that Steve Burton got the role of Cloud Strife from Sora's game, and Haley Joel Osment, the kid from The Sixth Sense must be most certainly a union actor, which makes reprising his role in a non-union game like Smash difficult.

Any sonic character (same as crash again. Expect to see a *lot* of this)
Midna (although I want more Legend of Zelda characters (as it’s my most favorite Nintendo franchise) she is already an assist trophy)
Skull Kid (same as midna)
Giraham (I’m hoping I spelled that correctly. Same as Midna)
Phoenix Wright (Hoped I spelled that correctly. Plus, he just doesn’t fit and same as crash)
Sora (I like kingdom hearts but I see lots of people asking for him and it’s just gotten annoying)
Doom slayer (same as crash and as what InkThinks said)
Master Chief (same as crash)
Rayman (Same as crash)
A list of characters that I WANT is smash:
Demise (Can provide another Heavy character but could use a sword. Also provides a villain)
Impa (OoT or AoC design would be fine maybe could alternate for the outfits. Could be a good combo character with decent damage)
Soogha (that new Yiga Clan member from AoC. Provides a villain) or Kogha would be cool.
Revan (From KOTOR, he would add in a new series (Star Wars) and could have alternate costumes for his Jedi Knight and Darth Revan outfits providing a Hero/Villian Character. Only problem is Disney)
Bastila Shan (same as Revan)
The Traveler (From Genshin Impact, idk might be cool and could change abilities mid match like how Shulk has his Monado Arts. The alt outfits would be switching between the male and female version of the traveler, Aether and Lumine) also Diluc, Lisa, or Amber would all be cool as well.
Any echo Fighter for Link, Toon Link, Young Link, or Zelda (if they allow echo fighters for existing characters)
Gordin (From Fire Emblem, he could would be different and add in a bow using fighter as we have never had one that MAINLY uses bows. And as I listed above, Amber, she could fill the same role)
Yes I know that most of the characters I want would be sword fighters but also I have a bias with swords because 1. I main mostly sword users (Joker being the only exception) and 2. In *my opinion* sword users seem to fit smash more.
