    Seeing someone learn it live with your tips is the next level for trick tips! Seriously, I wish there were more trick tips like this out there. Seems like he made every mistake he could have and you could address it in real time, which is really helpful so when we make that same mistake we can just plug the feedback into our own process. Just brings new depth and detail of learning the trick. Really cool.

    Hey localjoe!! First of all i love ur videos! I’ve been watching them for maybe a year now and im always so excited when u drop a new one!
    This video obviously is very different since u teached somebody with tips u figured out from a pro skater. And i really enjoyed it! The skate teacher role fits u perfect and i really wanted ur buddy to get the bigspin. And most of all, the tip/ hacks u get out of ishod wairs technique really work (for some people at least)!
    Maybe this is a nice way to grow ur channel until u actually can do trick tips with pro skaters in person.
    Much love from Germany!

    I never knew until now how you don't really need so much scoop on this trick to make it. Like, I landed the best bigspin I ever landed three tries after watching this video. Flattening the back foot was EVERYTHING. Thanks man (and Ishod too)

      I set up my foot position like a tre flip, then a pop and literally hook my feet on the edge of the board and push it into the bs bigspin. It’s all in your back foot, front foot does nothing. I’ve done them down double sets, and bigspin front board on a handrail, once you figure out your technique then it’s a pretty easy trick. Watch Josiah Gatlyn’s trick tip video on them for more help.

    Skating on and off for like 20 yrs. Never really cared about bigspins. But these tips just improved my skating, across the board. Lol. Ollying off the mid section (hotdog), transferring rotation from shoulders to feet, & keeping the heel down. Makes such a huge difference, feels more consistent! Thanks, to Utah county joe.

    Another tip for me on bigspins that helped me learn them is to catch the board at 90 degrees with your front foot so that the board is tilted the right way.

    Man the heal down I never thought of that. I've never done a big spin in one motion only the pivot ones. But I used to have switch back big spins. I had the wind up and stance just like ishod but doubt I always kept the heal down because I never thought of it. Yet it makes sense because my switch back shuvs were always better than my regular shoves and I keep my heal more down switch - thanks for the tip!

    For me, switch bs and fs bigspin are easier for me to do, my regular are a hit or miss. But I was watching the way Ishod sets up for fs bigspin when I was watching him on BATB and it helped me understand how to do those better.

  • @NickWilson0001

    I find the backside bigspin is easier if you feel like the pivot of the rotation hinges from your back foot. So your back foot is waiting to catch the nose when it comes around. The weight should be on that back foot through the movement if you were to fall, it would be forward after you land.

    I love everything about this tip video. My only lil gripe; y’all are trying to learn / improve a trick in a tiny, confined space! I’ve seen your vids. That park got a more open flat area. Other than that, this made me happy and nostalgic to being a park rat and learning from the older park regulars. Keep it up. Your skating & content are progressing and it’s dope

    • @BoGeniusFilthy
      @BoGeniusFilthy 2 роки тому

      To add on to your breakdown of back bigspins; step 1 & 3 play a larger role in the trick imo. The Prewind & flat back foot slice are what really make or break this trick

  • @Fortube14

    I do the big spins the same way as ishod but I explain it differently I just have a really nice front foot catch pop shuv and I learned that if I pinch my left wheel down I’m goofy Back foot in pop shuv position a good amount of Presure on the left foot you have to wind before you pop and make sure the front foot and back foot. Is leveled in the middle of the board it’s a fun n cool trick 🔥

    I you're actually doing it totally properly like textbook, I could always bigspin but I would kinda just rely on the ground to keep the eventual flip from happening. Catching a bigspin is difficult, I've only ever once done it over a Gap which was a 5 stair, and if I were doing it this way it would have made me focus on catching it as part of the rotation instead of trying to stomp it like a backside flip. If that makes any sense..

    • @localjoe
      @localjoe  2 роки тому +1

      This sounds like obvious advice but you need to jump straight up. It's tempting to lean on the toes because you feel like you have more leverage but it will ruin the pop and send the board away from you. If you can stay balanced and over the board as you crouch down AND as you jump up the board will naturally stay under you the rest of the way.
