Hey this does fit a 13 f150 correct because Amazon is telling me it doesn't fit?
I would love to know how to get in contact with you I have a 5.4 that does something weird and no one around my area can figure it out. Throwing a bunch of codes but runs good and every now and then it will spit and almost stall when I come to a stop then I have to step on the gas to clear it up. Already did everything and changed everything I can think of
I have a 2007 5.4 expedition and it starts up fine cold but when hot it takes a few turns of the key 🔑 140,000 miles HELP PLEASE. starter was replaced 1 year ago ,new coil packs, plugs, alternator, battery all within last 6 months. Any clue ?
Nice to know there are still mechanic's that know what their doing and still give "free" advice. I'm 54 and remember going to a shop and asking for some info (long before the internet) and they would help. Thanks for your time.
Use only OEM part.
I went to 6-7 mechanics, and all of them said I needed an AC compressor because they didn't know this even thought I said them and show your video. I wish all mechanics were like you brother, you make a great job every time. Thank you!
Love your video.....I'm a old man who occasionally will try to fix things that go wrong on my 2006 Expedition with 170k miles. Of all the people doing videos I find this channel to be most helpful/detailed in the repairs I've needed done to keep it on the road.
Thanks!
I had the same sound coming from my 2010 f150 two days ago and thought the worst, I found this video, watched it once, went down to the local privately owned auto parts store, they had the part for me the next day, it cost me $79, glad to pay it so not to wait for it from Amazon, I installed it, it took me about a half hour because I dropped the bolt, found it in the frame, rigged up a stick with a magnet to retrieve it. Once I got it all back together it worked like a charm. I’ve been watching this tech for a couple of years now, he is the best at explaining how and why he does the repair thoroughly, that’s a talent all in its self!! Thank you for the video, you saved me a bunch of money!
Thanks for this video, it clears up some confusion for me. I will NOT be returning to my local Ford dealer. They said this same exact noise was the compressor itself and cost me a fortune. When asked for the old parts they could only produce the old hub as you have shown in this video. I wondered how they completed a three hour repair in under an hour. I do not believe this is some kind of a misunderstanding. This is the new millennium, how can such dishonesty by some shops continue after all these decades? Will the industry never change? Ok...I feel better now. Sorry for the rant. Thanks again...
Great video, Brian. At least this repair is straightforward and not too expensive. Keep up the good work.
I have seen a few videos on replacing F-150 A/C Clutch, but yours is the most complete and the most straightforward. Congratulation Sir !
First Thank you for yet another clear diagnostic and repair plan for a known issue that we experienced. My wife's 08 Expedition's A/C is working again, because our son and I followed your step by step instructions. You shop is a ten hour drive from our house, if we lived anywhere near Yorkville, IL our Fords would be in your shop for regular maintenance. I wish all mechanics were as honest and smart as you are. Thank you very much for your help.
This guy is a freaking warlock psychic!
Was just trying to fill my AC in the 03 expy. But the clutch is clicking on to suck in the coolant.:/
Huge thank you for this video bud!!! Same thing just happened to my truck! Same squeal and everything. I thought I was going to have to replace the entire compressor!
Awesome of you to share this knowledge with us . Thank you for the time you spent doing so. !!!
I subscribed because I'm pretty sure my 2010 expedition has every issue in your videos. My ac just started having the exact sound in this video last week, I was so excited when I saw you posted this. Thanks my dude!
Edit: Old clutch was in fact broken, I put a new one on and then noticed that the compressor shaft was not moving freely like you showed. Could anyone reccomend a next step?
Ac compressor jammed. Needs new compressor for sure.
My 07 expedition just started making that noise. I will most definitely try changing out clutch first. Thanks, your videos and content really help is out. Keep up the great knowledge.
GM uses something similar, believe me this past Wednesday mine compressor clutch blew up and it was giving me the same warning. This video would of help me a lot .
Exact thing happened to my 2013 F150. I saw shards of rubber all over and was worried it was from a belt! So replaced the tensioners and both belts and ultimately ended up replacing the entire compressor since the bearing had also gone. That was over the course of several weekends. Wish I would have caught it earlier and known the cause and quick fix--I bet I'd have saved myself a ton of time and money.
Thanks for these great videos man. Super, super helpful and relevant to a ton of people!
I have a 2013 f150 and I heard this noise and lost air conditioning today
2011 Ford F-150 XLT w/ 5.0L clutch hub just went out. Not much squeal, but I can see the inner hub barely moving while the outer hub is fully engaged and I can see rubber coming out between the inner/out hub. Thanks for the help.
This was the most helpful auto repair video I have ever seen. Bravo!
This happened on my 2010 Expedition with 100,000 miles. This winter I heard that horrible noise and now this spring no AC, surprise surprise. Yep now a 2 piece clutch with melted rubber all in the pulley. 5 Minutes to remove including time to get out my tools, now to order a replacement.
thank you for making this video i just had this part go out on my expedition, had a shop quote me 800 for new compressor,, i changed this in like 10 minutes thank you!!!
Ford should put this guy on their payroll to tell them how NOT to design these trucks!
Kurt B ford doesn’t build the compressors gm, dodge, ford usually use the same manufacturers of compressors (Delphi, Sanden, denso,Siemens, hitachi etc) clutch failure is common
Better than that, you seem to know all about how things should be designed - why don't YOU go to work for Ford and design everything "correctly" for them? Please, the clutch is 16 years old, how long do YOU figure it should last?
Why? That would help them lose money from repairs.
How true
Yes
Great job explaining and demonstrating the repair.
Excellent advice as usual. When I do finally get round to visiting the US - I will have to hire a F-150 Truck!!!
Thank you...this video just diagnosed and fixed my truck!
Who does NOT love FTM?! He is absolutely the best for a Ford owner. I'm going to do this on my 2011 F-150 just to be proactive. Lord knows this will fail while I'm travelling this summer and some mechanic will try to sell me a new compressor...
Awesome content as usual your just the best man!
Love the new intro!
This exact thing happened to me. I replaced the compressor not knowing how easy the fix is. Now I know.
This also happens on the 06 ford escape with 2.3. Replacing the hub on mine. Thank you for this video, super helpful!!
I’m about to try this fix tomorrow. Thanks a ton!
Same here as other commenters, mechanic wants to swap compressor and more.
I noticed it’s spinning but losing contact. I noticed the rubber is worn out. I hope I’m right and it’s a quick 5 min fix.
Wow, a simple fix for a change. I sincerely hope some Ford engineer comes across your videos.
Thanks for explanation and the repair. Good info!
DUUUUUDE thank you for this video! I already purchased a new compressor, txv, orings, etc but my Navigator had the same sound and behavior, and sure enough after popping off the clutch it came apart in my hand. Going to save the kit, use the new clutch and see if the triton 3v goes before the AC lol! I am a usually a Toyota owner but have to admit the shroud flip up feature is probably the coolest feature I've seen in a vehicle when it comes to maintenance/repairs.
Great vid. This is exactly what has happened to my hummer. Gonna fix it tomorrow
Always appreciate your informative videos.👍
FREEKING FINALY I've been looking for a solution for this and none could understand what I was talking about that this is it. You the MANNNNNN. I have an 08 edge and this is exactly what happened.
Edit: OMG THIS WAS THE PROBLEM THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!! My ac is great again 😂😂😂😂😂
Another great, and informative, video. Thanks, Brian!!!
Thanks for this and all of your excellent videos!!
Thank you, same problem with my Mustangs A/C
Finally! They put a kazoo in from factory. My child hood dreams are complete
Thanks Brian! Awesome tip.
Thanks Loco, have similar noises coming front my 5.4 only when the AC is on. 2010 platinum @ 195k. ordering clutch now.
Awesome ! Just happed to my truck ! Changing it tomorrow
The only video I could find that showed this noise. That was exactly my problem!
Thanks, Ford Tech love your videos
*No clue about flipping the fan shroud thank you so much*
You are Awesome. Subscribed !
Mine just went down...I'm so glad to find you because u saved me a headache and money and time!#hellyeah.🙏🙏🙏
I've had Honda's do the same thing. I'm guessing that any compressor hub made like this is susceptible to this type of failure. Fords are hands down the easiest to repair. Thanks!!!
Hands down best mechanic I have ever seen!
you are a Ford master man
Tip of the day👌💯
This video was informative. Thank you
Great video, thanks... my 2010 F150 AC cooked out, so I am hoping this is the problem!
Thanks guy. You're the best.
Thanks for the info 🙏
I see a Flareside (stepside) in the other bay! Too bad they stopped making them, I have a yellow 2004!
This happened on my 2016 Escape with the 2.0 EB engine last week. It wasn't nearly that loud but eventually the clutch got spat out while driving down the road. Main pulley was fine.
Thanks for sharing... Cheers.
Another Great Video.
OUTSTANDING!👍🏿
Thanks for the help 👍✌
This is what mine sound like!!! But not as loud... an not as long!! So I can replace this an I should be fix. Thank you sir!!!
I just changed this damn thing on my 07 expedition,i just laid under the suv and lifted the bottom half of the fan shroud and took a impact wrench to it,didnt even need to lift the truck, lay sideways then you can get to it easy, mine took a 10mm socket to remove, took 10 min to replace, make sure you save that washer inside of the old one like he said.
Funny how I watched this video and a few days later in comes an expedition to my work with this exact problem lol. However they guy drove it till there was no rubber left at all and destroyed the whole clutch face.
Another great video to help us with our trucks, thank you so much. Quick question please, is the fuel pump fuse relocation TSB also necessary on the 3.5 V6 Ecoboost engines like it is on 5.0 and 6.2 V8's 2011-2014? Thank you.
Thanks for the video! My compressor is not making that noise but my truck seems to be having a hard time cooling down. Especially when it’s just idling sitting still. I have a 2006 Ford F150 with 193,000 miles on it and it’s never had the AC recharged. Should I add coolant? Thanks
Thank you very much !!........... very helpful !!
Awesome thank you!
Watched your video, it was great. I took the old one off and went to put the new one that was recommended in the video but it doesn't fit... the spline is larger on my compressor. Do you know which hub I would need? The bolt is a 10mm on mine not a 8mm.
Worked great on my 2011 lincoln town car
Hello thank u for all the information in your videos. Can u tell me the best oil I should use in a 2019 6.2 superduty? I only pull a pontoon boat a few times a year. Thank u
Man, I love watching your style, “squealin’ like a freakin’ pig”!
Can you do a video on a fluid flush for a 2017 f150 with the 10 speed transmission? Your vids really help me out with servicing my truck. Thanks!
Big Thxs a DIY easy fix......
thank you again oh chosen one 🙏😊
My Tacoma 2010 it’s doing the same ,I got all the tools I need, I can do it my self and in the meantime I can replace the serpentine belt as well
Sounds like someone is a bit too heavy on the horn! Lol
"Why are you honking at me?!?!"
"I'm not! Its my A/C compressor pulley!"
Thank you ..
My 2015 traverse has this same BS. I was trying to find a video on here and this is exactly what is going on.. the hub separated from clutch and I lost my AC. rubber is all melted. No noise tho.. thank god.
nicely done
Good job!
Thanks, I'm sure my F150 needs this.
Keep 🙏🏼 up 😀 for the good 3👍
Thank you good sir
I was watching one of ur old videos about the slip /bump with the drive shaft and I was thinking that’s what’s wrong with my 2004 4.6v8 f150 but u said it will seem like ur going over bumps that are not there but my truck does a hard thumb from the front end and bounces the whole dash any answer on that please I really need help I’ve looked at all the obvious things
If I lived near you I'd bring you a case of your favorite beer. Being in Ocala, Florida, that'd be a bit of a drive.
Man...can you see your wife taking the 150 down to the dealership...1,250 please...thx again Brian...he da man....
Again, thank you.
Hey question. Wondering if you’ve made a video or if you know of a video on changing a oil filter housing on an 06 4wd expedition? Thanks!
Very informative video (as always). Take note of the torque rating for the 8mm bolt. Ask me how I know😖.
On my f150 I can hear a winding noise coming from the a/c compressor almost sounds like a power steering noise. After pulling the clutch off I saw the c clamp does the bearing just fall right out or do you need a special tool to press the bearing out?
I know this is unrelated but I have watched several of your videos and saved me a ton of money, but here is my issue ..2010 f150 xlt 4wd extended cab w/4.3l engine: airbag light on dash comes on intermittently passenger air bag light also; seems every time I use the right hand back door or put stuff on floor backseat is when I have the problem, also after a heavy rain and the humidity is high...any ideas?
I have an 05’ Expedition Eddie Bauer edition and have an A/C problem too. Not like the one you show but I’m assuming similar. It cools for a bit but runs out of Freon very quickly for some reason. The compressor seems good and added more Freon and it cools again but I’m sure it will do it again soon. Any ideas maybe?
Thanks
I have a 2006 Expedition. I'm getting smoke and smell from my a/c. Is it common for the clutch to do this? Thanks Brian for another awesome video!
thanks v m you helped me
Hi great video now i know where my problem lies but i got the game changer. I am left with broken shaft still bolted with part of 3 rivet clutch plate. any ideas on shaft replacement or am i looking at scrap yard compressor or auto part to replace hole unit? Need all the help have pictures i can send you. Thanks for your help. Paul
We've been having issues with our '05 Expy for the last couple years to where the system finally won't hold freon at all. So I purchased a compressor kit from Rock Auto with all the components, including the condensor. I also ordered the front evaporator. How difficult is that to replace?
You have any video about how to put a 2016 Ford Taurus into neutral if it has push start bottom? With a dead battery no start so it can be tolled?..Awesome information on this channel
You ever have the a/c pop off valve blow? My 04 e350 did it. Maybe I can make until next spring. Can't afford to take it to the shop
