  • Pulled the oil cooler, it was caked in slime probably why it was not working as well. Inside there was a few pieces of rtv some reason. I poured gasoline inside and flushed it a few times. Sprayed outside and cleaned as well.
Gasket cane from Arkansas valley diesel here in co, he knew exactly what I needed and OEM gasket worked great.
Plumbed in the remote filter right behind front crossmember, hate the filter being where it was I w can now pull it while I drain pan.
Everything went in great no RTV on gaskets I cleaned the surfaces really well with air sander. Cummins has a two stage torque sequence in the housing.

Oil temp will always be hotter then coolant temp that's why coolant is used to cool the oil

    >ran into the same problem with 7.3 all engines will have a higher oil temp

sircrushchev1917 my oil temp in Cummins was 20-30 deg higher sometimes. New cooler brought it back down to 10-15, still hit 20 when really running at high rpm. Currently back in a 7.3 it runs consistently 10-15 over coolant.

Omieyouknowme its fine you didnt need to worry about it the more important temperatures to look at are exhaust gas temperature and coolant temperature 30 degrees isnt going to change the viscosity that much it'll still lubricat and cool just fine if it where 50 or 60 degrees hotter then you can be worried

I did watch all temperatures, I'm a bit anal I guess. I'm aware of flash point in the t6 I use, also that viscosity remains a constant at a Delta. That Delta is prob between 180-300 still felt awkward though watching oil temps rise, bthen coolant temps rise to keep oil cool as it's working harder now.

hey omieyouknowme im trying to get my motor put back together and its been a long time. would i use the same gasket that you are using if i have a 12v 53 storm block. or would i need to use the isb gasket with the long cut out in it?

Chris Dye I try www.shop.perma-cool.com/10756-Standard-Oil-Filter-Relocation-Kit-dual-1-16-10756.htm as kit or build your own using adapters for 1-16 thread filters.

I used a permacool adapter, 1216 and 1156 to build my own remote oil filter system, about 50$ plus hoses.
