    Hey Francis, I found a nifty way of avoiding pressure damage on the petroleum boiler. You could use airflow tiles instead of insulated tiles in the crude oil drop area. Other than that, I've been sending the leftover igneous rock from the boiler in a steam room, using conveyor "valves" controlled by conveyor temperature sensors.

    Hey Francis, I got one question.
    Abyssalite is supposed to be a perfect insulator. It even says it's thermal conductivity is 0.
    But in many occasions I've watched it transfer heat anyway. Sooo... Is that just a mistake in the game?

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  4 роки тому +3

      For temperature transfer multiple things are taken into account. A simplified explanation is thermal conductivity is an average of both materials conductivity. So hydrogen gas touching Abyssalite will still transfer some temp. However it gets way more complicated. There is minimum difference in temp before heat transfer. Gas gets a bonus modifier. You can use temp shift plates for example to pump heat into abyssalite if you want. Good thing to note Insulated versions of things (insulated pipes, insulated tiles) only use their conductivity for temp transfer. Ignoring the other materials conductivity.

    To flood a map in crude oil, I think you'd have to go via carbon dioxide and slicksters. Perhaps using wood/ethanol as the carbon source, or meteor-delivered CO2.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  4 роки тому +1

      9 oil wells on a geo active map with lots of water sources. 9kg of water into the wells and you get 30kg/s of crude. You could flood a map pretty quickly that way.

    • @Majromax
      @Majromax 4 роки тому +1

      Not _that_ quickly. Filling 250 x 384 tiles with 870kg of crude oil (ignoring compression, but also ignoring the tiles necessary for the core base) would take 83.5 million kg of crude. At 30kg/sec, that would take 4600 cycles. (600 seconds/cycle)
      That said, the plastic tilling project must have also taken a considerable amount of time. A plastic-bricked-in-map would take about 16 million kg of plastic at 100kg/tile, so you'd still be looking at a few hundred cycles of oil output.

    These are so discouraging. So much work and time with masses of aggravations to create a natural base where as much as possible works with the environment, yet people are more impressed by completely erasing of everything and rebuilding a completely artificial world. Also so much copy/paste ideas and builds instead of using the concepts learned to create things along with the original terrain. These people should just start the game with a blank world they can fill in with all their copied ideas. I’ve spent so, so very long working on mine and dreamed of sharing it and impressing people, but I think it’s all just been a HUGE waste of my time and motivation. I figured with all the work I’ve put in to save as much as the original map as possible, that I could sell my infinite food/power/gasses/etc. to players wanting to start after all that difficult stuff is done with 3/4+ of the map still original and ready for massive expansion and building whatever they have in mind. Perfect set-ups with LOX and LH2 rockets in perfect condition, gassy cows, etc., but didn’t have to destroy the map to achieve these goals. I’m just so depressed about this after all the months I’ve worked on this and now realize no one is going to care one little bit and when the power is off it’s all gone. Idk what to do now besides quit this world I’ve dwelled in so heavily and loved so much. Sick of wasting my life.
