Capt loves his job. You can tell. Nothing better in the world than doing what you love and loving it.
Very true Greg
True that!
Captain comes across as having a ton of respect for the FO. Great crew and such high professionalism despite a short flight.
That's the company culture at Jazz.
He's Canadian!
@@yashaashayeri7055 eh?
What awesome CRM looks like.
It's good too see (CRM)at work a long time ago your captain could make you feel like shut up and say nothing thank god that culture is hopefully gone
Pilot was well spoken and appears to be a nice guy. I enjoyed the flight.
Thanks Bill and you’re absolutely right.
@@justplanes q1
He is definitely one of the best. 😊 🍀
That seems like a very calm and respectful flight crew, a great working environment!
Yes totally right.
FO was one of my instructors that taught me during my private training in the early 2000s.
That flight was like a Zen meditation! Due in part to the calm, affable and professional Captain and FO. As an Australian, I love this part of the world to visit!
Glad you enjoyed the video and crew. Thanks Roger
Come visit Vancouver! Beautiful city and I believe there is direct flights from some major Australian cities!
With a Masters degree in Physics l worked on both the prop and engine electronic control (ECU) software design and coding. I was 28. Now I'm 68. So long ago. Loved it
This was the route I flew on my very first day as an airline pilot. It's been a year without flying now... Miss it a lot!
I am a dispatcher for Jazz and can confirm that the skipper is one of the very best I have ever worked with :)
how did you become a dispatcher , i want to become one
@@jostmathe where are you located? Different countries have different requirements
@@MarkChristopherpens i live in East Africa in DRC
I've flown into YYJ over 40 times and never get tired of seeing the Gulf Islands from the air.
Wow that’s a good amount and yes it looks like a very scenic flight.
Thank you for the memories....I retired from Jazz in 2010, as a flight attendant, based at YYJ, then to YVR. How true all the flight crews were/are professional, and I was proud to work with them. I do miss it all, (some bits one can forget ), I never tired of that short trip, sometimes five return flights in a shift. Thank you again.
Thats very cool Tony, thanks for the lovely comment!
Thanks for sharing
My grandfather was on the design team for both the Dash-7 and Dash-8. Thanks for posting this.
Absolutely love the mighty Dash 8
Ya very cool airplane indeed. Thanks
Great video - this is exactly why I feel so confident flying Air Canada: friendly, competent and respectful pilots.
Love it!!
Back in the mid-70s I flew YVR-YYJ on a Piggly-Wiggly/Pray-While-Aloft (Pacific Western Airlines) B737-200.
The Captain came on and announced that “we will climb to our enroute altitude of 25000 feet...” I thought...Huh?
HOLY CRAP he wasn’t kidding! Climbing out of YVR was slam back in your seat and hang on! Reach 250...almost a negative G over the top for descent!...and it was a LONG
DESCENT!
What a RUSH for a teenager!🚀
That sounds very very cool!
Brilliant stuff. Captain comes across as one cool guy. I have to get over to Canada it looks beautiful.
You should!
Love this. Can't explain why but the Dash 8 is one of my favourite aircraft. Like the utility truck of the sky.
Nice, used to do this run in the 90's with the Fedex Caravan. Really enjoyed the short hops.:)
Thanks for the ride. I've been in the jump seat of the DASH 8 many times. Great plane. Good job on the flight.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love flying. I can't wait to fly again. I wanted to be a flight attendant
Great stuff! Just like Widerøe in Norway. Up to 24 cycles a day.
Flew with Air Nova/Jazz for 7 years. Miss the ol’ Dash, one of the best airplanes ever built. Over 6000hrs in the 100 series.
quality Canadian product.
Love it! These short hop flights to Vancouver Island are a blast!
Cool. Thank you
This was absolutely brilliant ...amazing pilot's loved this video thanku so much love and god bless x
Thanks very much Wendy!
@@justplanes always a pleasure x
I remember a Doug Catterall who did my instrument ride out of YWG when he was at TC. He was one of the youngest TC inspectors I have ever met...and I still remember an analogy he offered up... "you can live life having all your meals delivered under the bathroom door...." I had never heard such a comment before and it stuck with me. Lucky F/O who gets to fly with Captain Catterall!
That’s very cool. Small world 🙏👍
If you talk to people in Victoria, anyone over the age of about 40 had at least one rating from Arnold Parlee.
I'm sorry, what does that even mean??
You guys are true pros! Thanks for sharing, fly safe!
Thanks for watching Scott and glad you enjoyed the video!
Good one Doug. Just as I remember it. Doug as always flawless.
Dispatched the Dash 100 for 12 years at Allegheny, 12 years at Commutair the 200/300 I love those planes!
Captain seems like a very nice guy.
Such gorgeous scenery.
That was awesome!! I've been to Vancouver, and Victoria. Both are incredibly beautiful. Thank you for sharing this video. Very enjoyable. Have a great day, and safe journeys. 👍👍
Great stuff! Always nice to see some content from my local airport on a big aviation channel. Hard to believe that 737s and A319s also flew this route.
Congratulations to the captain and Josh.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
What a nice man.. and he really knows his stuff.. Great video 👍
Another cracking video there JP! Great CRM skills by both pilots.
Thanks for watching and for the lovely comment!!
Great shot of base to final! 👍
I miss flying into YVR. Can’t wait to start flying there again soon I hope!
Hope so for you as well🙏
Amazing flight crew and aircraft! Thanks for sharing!
C.R.M.T. at its best! Great video. Beautiful country side. Captain very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you
What a fantastic video. Thanks
Rudy that is Mt Baker just before take off about 100 miles to the east, I suspect that it was filmed around 10 years ago. FYI CYCD to CYVR is the shortest flight Jazz does on the West Coast at just under 10 mins if ATC gives a direct route.
Beautiful view outside these windows, awesome takeoff and landing that sounds amazing, and great pilots. I did enjoy listening to these pilots, and this aircraft is amazing as well. Very short flight, but that view is amazing. Awesome video; I love it.
Great flight crew, great flight and landing 👍
Love this ❤ thanks for sharing about the FMS !
Very professional crew. Enjoyed the ride
Fantastic Video Thanks
Thanks very much Saraj!
Nice, I would have loved to get same in Houston when we had IAH-EFD on Continental. This is awesome 😎.
Like the cargo 727 spotting!
Yes! Love the 727
Dash 8 my love... as supervisor in apron area I used to direct a ton of flight for Croatia Airlines which connects Rome to Croatia with D-8... a great pleasure.
Excellent video.
Excellent demonstration of CRM! A very healthy flight deck environment 👍👍
As a Victorian, I can 100% confirm everything the captain said at the end. I love seeing my local airport being showcased.
Awesom vid, Ive just passed my Multi IFR and will be would love to get in at Jazz in the new year
Awesome flight!
Thanks! 👍
JP....Hello! Great pilots....absolutely first class! Iwill fly with them....
very enjoyed this vid JP! Many thanks for filming this.....stay safe
and have a nice day;) Lovely greetings.....Betsy.
Thanks very much Betsy!
@@justplanes ......You 're Welcome JP!.......Betsy.
Respect for the tower. Respect for the captain. No incidents in the passenger cabin. Best 14 minutes in a persons life.
Very professional.
It's cool as a Victorian pilot to watch a UA-cam video that features one of our controllers in the tower that we hear every work day. Just yesterday was on a flight with a student, same controller in the tower as you hear on the radio here working both outer and inner tower, and he was dealing with an exceptionally crazy amount of traffic. Had 4 VFR guys circling over Brentwood, Deep Cove, Swartz Bay, and Cowichan all while dealing with 3 IFR departures and 3 IFR arrivals at the same time. Was listening to see if I could hear any other people I recognize from around here, but seemed like it was a relatively non busy time that day and it was probably recorded so long ago that most people who were there then are no longer working here today.
Very relaxed and a very informative video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excited.......✌️✌️✌️
👍👍👍
OK, *everyone* is saying what I would say, so... Ende! ;-)
I remember flying over there for coffee and pie, in a Cherokee 235 and once in a Navajo. :-)
Both dach 8 and super 748 props make beautiful music
Yay! a video to victoria!
Cool. We try too cover airports all over the planet... I think we're approaching 1000 airports where we landed or took off...
Awesome view dude! 😎
Thanks! 👍
Just passed my ME IR yesterday... the radio calls make more sense now!
Very cool!
Pilots are the most calm, intelligent and gracious folk.
How about a video on the flight to downtown Victoria on one of the floatplanes. I enjoyed that very much, super weather, sitting in front with the pilot, at a nice, low flight altitude. Beats the Dash flights into Sydney!
Super short, but super cool!
Thanks very much Matt!!👌
I have flown the SFO-STS being 15 min long many times. The shortest flight in the states. I have also flown the PHL to AVP route many times which is also quite short!
SJC to OAK will give you a run for your money. Flying time 10 min, about 45 miles.
I like the plane without fansy display monitor, only analog!!
Yes the good old days 👍
Radio Altimeter Call was scary 😂 .
it has to be loud and clear
great vid
Aye, very professional crew.
nice presentation
Brings back the memories! I've flown that route a number of times over the years, and I think only once was it as nice as it was the day this video was shot. It's a wonderful flight - so much to see over the Salish Sea as you cross. Too bad it's over before you know it!
This is the guy you want to be up front every time you board..
smoothest landing I've ever seen in the Q400. The thing normally lands like a sack of bricks. Hats off to the flight crew.
that was a -100 plane.
Very nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Fly safe always.
hello just, i really like your videos on the E2 Jet. It would be great to have new videos with the E2 family.
Thanks Paulo. We have released our 1st E2 program on Helvetic and I'm sure in the future we will get more. Glad you like our videos, thanks!
The shortest flight I’ve been on was around 20 minutes, from YXU-YYZ.
Nice. This one is 14 minutes.
I flew YVR to YCD in 9.5 minutes once
what type?
@@SSaugaCriss I’ve done the route many times, on the Dash 8-100, the Dash 8-300 and the Q400 as well.
@@monz the Q is quick. FA or FO? hope your back soon if off.
excellent CRM!
👍
awesome flight watched it from Jamaica!
Thanks very much Daniel
James Bay project flying a single Otter. Removing old fuel drums from an abandoned site 4 miles away over a mountain.
All day every day for 3 weeks. The ripples on the lake barely had a chance to dissipate.
👍
Used to take flight from Sea/Tac to Vancouver BC, it's very short too
Yes indeed
SEA-YVR is more than triple the distance YVR-YYJ
awesome video, but what stands out is the lady just chillin on that wheelchair at 19:57 lol
jk, the captain is awesome
been on that flight many times
YVR to YYJ is a very short flight over the islands.
I did this flight round trip on a Q400. Just seems so pointless. Cruise was 4000’ to YYJ and 5000’ back to YVR, 5 mins and 6 mins flying time, respectively. The amount of VFR traffic was far more numerous than I expected.
A lot faster than a ferry
Paper approach plates? I didn't know they existed any more.
Filmed 2013
They both r so shiny in vid thumbnail
I did this on the same airplane but "worse" was Vancouver to Nanaimo which is basically "positive rate, gear up, approach checks." 😆
I had FSX flashbacks. I used to fly into victoria in FSX from friday Harbour all the time.
Now that’s the way you fly a dash 8
😊 very cool 👍
@@justplanes yeah the last time I saw a dash 8 it was doing a loop de loop.
We can see the beautiful parts of Canada by window in the same time
Been on this flight multiple times :)
must be cheap
@@aviatorboss9978 actually no. Sometimes I take the ferry from Victoria to YVR and take a flight to wherever I want to go.
@@arvinthth ah ok
Very cool
Shortest flight iv been on is westray to papa westray, took around 90 seconds 😂😂😂 the orkney island flight in Scotland between westray and papa westray hold the world record for shortest flight of 57 seconds
😆 57 seconds. Was there a meal service 🤪🤪
@@justplanes 🤣🤣🤣 the pilot though about it
Great video. But the Loc-ident kept going off even while they were parked, lol.
Thank you
Was driving me nuts too haha. The "observer" audio panel for the jumpseat which they would have had their recorder plugged into for the interphone/atc likely had the button pushed in by accident.
I trained at YYJ, and I wonder where all the traffic is on this video. Not unusual to be in the circuit #3 or #4, and to have the Dash8s take an intersecting arrival onto Rwy 13 (now 14).
So much paperwork, old school style. Why dont they give crew tablets. Save some trees! Great video as always thank you.
