I’ve been driving Fords for 35 years and I had one lemon out of 7 vehicles. Toyota has major problems now and the trusted V8 is trending new problems in higher mileage…..so I would say that all manufacturers have issues. It comes down to how you maintain your vehicle as a general rule will determine how many problems you have during ownership.

Toyota has never had the highest/biggest numbers compared to its competitors, but what it does have is value retention and reliability, things most people agree are more important than even more ludicrous hp and torque…
I had an F150 that's transmission started going out at 74,000 miles. I've had a Tacoma I've done nothing more than change oil, tires and brakes up to nearly 200k miles... they're not the same.
Your anecdote is not very meaningful. I had a tuned Ecoboost F150 making 550 ft-lbs of torque and towed a 5500 lb trailer 24000 miles all over the western US and the transmission was solid. Also, Toyota transmissions suck sometimes too. Look at the A760 failures in the GX460.

I’ve watched a few reviews on the Raptor and am not convinced that the cheaper price tag is enough to move potential buyers away from the new gen Tacoma.
Look, Ford ruined the Ranger by putting Ford on it. A fraction of a percent of people drive these trucks like quads or SxS’s so all the performance and tech is a useless gimmick with the exception of measuring ones endowment.
Ford just announced a recall/ engine replacement for their 2.7 and 3.0 engines effecting 91,000 vehicles. Ford #1 in recalls for 2023, they are headed to continue to hold the same dubious status for 2024.
Except it doesnt cover the 2024 Ranger Raptor because it was due to a defective part supplied to them between May and October of 2021. Calm down. If it was all 2.7L or 3.0L it would be close to a million engines, but its not, because there is nothing inherently wrong with them. Toyota is fully replacing 100k engines in the Tundra.
@@Jay-me7gw Of course they knew about this since that time and did little. Toyota went ahead and figured out a solution and acted on it. Like flies on dog shit lets gooooooo
But then it will cost $100,000
TRD JON. THE BACK STABER!
lol
Should I trade my barely used 2023 Tacoma trd pro for the new raptor?
Sure! WOuld be an upgrade in power for sure.
I traded my 2022 4Runner TRD Pro in for a F-150 Raptor with the 37 package. Night and day difference in driving experience. I’ve pretty much decided I’ll never drive anything else besides a Raptor.
Ford may not build the best vehicles, but they sure do listen to the consumer well.
Toyota's are having issues as well so much of a muchness
I saw one today that was there all along and never was even in the way!!!! If they don’t do that it won’t be as bad…
It would be awesome if you got a Ranger Raptor for the channel!
He'll get kicked out of the Toyota club.
Going to look at one this week.
He doesn’t like Toyota’s anyway, he buys one, builds it up a little to look like he off roads, but it is just a mall crawler, then he bashes it in videos for a year, complains to his local dealership for a year about wind noise and creaks, or the temp of his ac, says he loves Toyota then sells it, rinse repeat, videos aren’t helping anyone, but himself. He should def buy Ford’s, then he can really cry about problems.
Must have missed all the Tacoma off road videos. But it's fine, don't watch and just spread hate cuz you're clueless.
@@TRDJon not hating, just calling it like it is, all your videos are the same. You don’t off-road, you’ve driven off road a few times to get those VERY clean trucks dusty, the one time you tried to push the truck you blew past your level of experience and skills, crushed the exhaust, and messed up your mall crawler, all to make a video about the cons of the truck I might add. You should def start doing Ford videos, or maybe a cooking channel or something.
Is there a performance upgrade/tune from Toyota for the 24 Tacoma TRDPro?
Not yet no
At 3:14, what is that something disconnected and is this actual footage of a Ford Raptor?
I’ve been driving Fords for 35 years and I had one lemon out of 7 vehicles. Toyota has major problems now and the trusted V8 is trending new problems in higher mileage…..so I would say that all manufacturers have issues. It comes down to how you maintain your vehicle as a general rule will determine how many problems you have during ownership.
Toyota needs to cut their truck prices by like 10-15K and put a V6 in the midsize trucks and V8’s in the Land Cruiser, tundra, sequoia, and also why is the minivan a hybrid 4banger for crying out loud. Imagine all these vehicles with the right engine making the right amount of power:
What will kill the trd pro is if ford can actually keep these at msrp. I have one local to me thats 59k. With huge mark ups and trd pros cresting closer to 70k it has an upper hand
Didn't even need the extra tune to destroy it lol
The Ranger looks good across the board, but I’ll never buy another one. Ford still owes me $2300 from when I bought my Bronco a 1.5 years ago (sold it).
Would it shorten the life span of the engine?
has anyone else seen this 2025 Corolla Truck? It looks sick! (in a good way) is it real?
We have a T4R. The fords break. Very few people drive the Pros or Raptors how they’re designed to be used. I’d rather have a Toyota than be nickel and dimed for every little thing including the bed stiffeners for the fords.
@@Jay-me7gw Transmission went out at 74k miles with less towing than my Tacoma. In fact, it was 99% all highway miles. No secret that Toyota holds its value while many other brands (ford included) don't. Just my experience but I'll never value a Ford over a Toyota after MY experience with both.
Toyota has never gone after the highest hp/torque ratings and I believe that's part of the reason why they're known for their reliability.
Will be interesting to see the longevity of the ranger Raptors engine with that upgrade.
My guess is no one cares. Half the people that buy RR’s will probably be tuning them for 600 whp on E85 just like the Explorer ST’s. When they blow the motor, they’ll put a built one in.
@@Jay-me7gw must be nice to be rich I guess
@@JohnnyBoy919why would you buy a TRD Pro for $65k+ if your not decently well off?
If you can buy these truck then I would hope you can replace the motor
@@Jay-me7gw I thought people bought toyotas so they would never have to worry about replacing motors.
@@JohnnyBoy919 They do. But my point applies to either truck. Dont be buying a $57k raptor if you're financing the whole thing and have no rainy day fund.
Live a little if you do.
Hey Jon, love your content. You always keep it real and show the good, bad and ugly. Really appreciate your honesty
Thanks so much
When you gonna get the Ranger Raptor for the channel you can at least get your puppies in the back seat
For sure! It did have ok space for sure
Who gives a “rip” how fast it goes? Safety, haul, tow, 500,000 miles should not be a problem for $70,000.
It's a specialty truck. If you wanna haul and tow then you should be looking at a diesel HD truck.
Toyota thought they did good with the 4th gen. Ford demolition them wit the RR. Toyota is always a few steps behind
Even the 2.7L Ecoboost in the regular Ranger will be significantly stronger than the Tacoma.
@@Jay-me7gw as it should if it has another whole turbo and 2 more cylinders lol
@@chibbyylol Is that why people going for huge power swap to a single turbo on Supras?
Is funny how the Industry is all in to gutless 4 bangers until suddenly they need to survive an invasion by Russia😊sure hope that turbo works right now is an understatement!
Imagine a v6 turbo and you didn’t have to beg for it 😢
Goldner Shore
Cool video
How about Toyota just re release the 2004 Toyota Tacoma TRD offroad manual😊
I just want a cheap truck option not more money options. Guess it’s great for those who can afford race trucks
SR is about half the price of these for a solid bare bones truck.
Can we get an LC500 v8 Tacoma 😂
BROOOOOO
These ford engines should last about 4 days after the tune
Ford has the money to say eff you watch this
Did you hear Ford will loose 5 billion this year because of ev division
@@Davidami48they still will make a net profit
As a Toyota fan boy, I don’t care if the Ranger Raptor has more power specs. I care about reliability & price. As it stands today, the Tacoma TRD Pro is still more expensive! We missed the mark on this new generation.
Yep it is. A bit more too!
Even still with Toyota having some issues I'd still pick the Tacoma. Way better looking and you couldn't pay me to own a Ford.
Yea the Tacoma does look WAY better imo
I hope they have trd 6ft bed hybrid 4x4/awd and massage seats like tundra 2025. Trd hybrid only has 5ft bed currently
Bro you forgot to mention that Toyota's selling their cars at Lamborghini prices.
What a 15 yr old lambo? lol
I told you before new channel name is coming "Raptor Jon".....😂
Not good enough, we desperately need Pro Raptor max ultra plus...😮😂
I know you’re not serious, but there are Plenty of aftermarket tunes that are pushing the 3.0L engine to 600+ hp.
@@Jay-me7gw i couldn't help it .😎
600+hp... Wow that's insane.
What's that loose pipe/hose underneath the Ranger Raptor at 3:15 in the video. Yeah, I'll stick with the Tacoma!!
Probably the chain for the spare tire they took out to get that shot
Probably not an exploded front diff disconnect 😂
you left out that the Ranger raptor has a v6 engine, what we all want....
Sorry, but figured that was implied.
The Ranger seems to be a great 'beat the spec-sheet' vehicle
Toyota like to get there monies worth by wearing out a mold. It takes them forever to change anything. They also don't have the balls or courage to do something out of the same old blah, blah box. They build great products but they really don't get your adrenaline going. They need to hire ex-employee CEO Tim Kunikus from Dodge/RAM to bring us excitement to Toyota.
The interior of the Ford is dated and boring. I love the layout and tech inside the new Tacoma which is why I decided to get one back in April and will be getting the new 4Runner when they become available. I’ve watched a few reviews on the Raptor and am not convinced that the cheaper price tag is enough to move potential buyers away from the new gen Tacoma.
I would get a Ford only if they were reliable.I work for the Government and the Ford work trucks always going to the shop to get fixed
Did you see my comment about this the other day?
I saw a few yes, not sure if it was yours
Raptor looks awesome but the toyota will still outlast it for years and hold its values much longer eventually. But the ford is cool.
I hope I'm not riding my motorcycle behind any of those things when the engine blows up!
Anyone that owns a Ford knows they will drag their feet and shift blame on vehicle problems to their owners or gaslight the issue as a non existing problem. I know because I have one in my driveway.
Toyota ruined the Tacoma and the upcoming 4 Runner. 75,000 for a 4cyl TRD Pro . Pathetic
Toyota just needs to lower their ridiculous prices.
with all this horsepower and bottom end, I'm wondering how long these engines are going to last. pluss the rest of the components that make up these vehicles. and then on top of that, you're going to get some idiots that can't handle the power and end up putting into a tree. and all of this power was for what????
I wouldn’t trust the Ranger to last more than 85k before things start breaking!!!
How come my 2015 2.7l ecobeast f150 with 158,000 miles stil has an interior that still looks brand new, oil analysis shows it is still like a new engine, with no wear metals in the oil?
@@1FiftyOverland you didnt get one built on a monday or friday
@chibbyylol ok. What about my wifes Focus, my parents Ranger, my brothers F150, my good buddy F150?
@@1FiftyOverland same
Within the last five years Toyota has dropped the ball hard. I stepped out of the game and now with the tundra engine recall quality control, and build is not the leader in the industry anymore.
