I got my 24 trd off road premium (solar octane) in early May. Just turned 14000 miles. 9000 of those mikes towing my 2100 lb camper from Ottawa Ontario to the Yukon and Alaska. The Alaska hwy can be rough in places and I hit a lot of gravel and potholed roads as well. My Tacoma has performed flawlessly to date. Not one issue or problem. Mileage avg was about 14mpg, which isn’t bad considering the roads, tow weight and fully loaded truck bed. Was a 5 week trip. So far, I’m the proverbial happy camper. The 4th gen tows far better than my gen3 did. Hey, would love to get your taco.
Thanks for the frank assessment. I have a new (as of July) TRD Off road. No upgrade package. Have about 4,000 miles on it, including some cross country miles. Have had two previous gen Tacomas. Must say, this one is a gem. Powertrain/transmission is monumentally quicker and so much smoother, as is handling at all speeds. Averaging a little over 20 mpg with stock tires. Folks are finding all sorts of little stuff to nitpick about, but I've found absolutely nothing to complain about to date. Of course, reliability/durability is a question given it's newness, but Toyota has always stood behind its products. Long story short, I'm a happy camper and expect to be for some time to come. Do like your videos, Jon. Keep it up.
“Toyota has always stood behind its products” unless of course we’re talking about the frame rot on 4th gen 4runners. Toyota is just like any other faceless multinational mega-corporation. Someone has to be the guinea pig though.
No, I just don’t waste my time online to try educate for those who I know won’t even care and whose minds are set based on all your comments so far. So take it easy bud.
@jeanclaude7018what a stupid comment. You really don’t think Toyota did any R&D into their most profitable products? Just say you’re too poor to afford one and move on.
Man, people are so negative. Appreciate the content, Jon! I bought my 2024 TRD OR in May and really enjoy it (zero issues so far). Curious to drive the new 4Runner when it comes out. Would get more use out of it vs the tacoma but the current gen (while bulletproof) is a dinosaur.
Good thoughtful review. I'm averaging 16.5 mpg on 285-65-18 Falken AT4 with my TRD sport. Drive in sport mode full time, have had no issues at all. Had a 3rd gen with many modifications including throttle booster, there is no comparison to the 24 model for comfort and responsiveness.
Yes sir! Yea I used to just blow it off, but it’s insane how much it helps. It helped me my last few years in the Airforce and now also from being insanely overwhelmed and unorganized mentally. I can’t wait to use their program more to become even better.
@@TRDJon I think many of us do that unfortunately. No one wants to talk about it in some of these career fields. Military, LE for sure. We have to take care of ourselves. It’s more prevalent now than ever.

A give-a-way would be nice for someone. I don’t get that lucky, but someone WILL in-joy that truck. Good luck to all. Glad to hear you’re getting your head on right. 🙏 keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video Jon! It makes me feel so good about my future purchase, especially going OR Hybrid Premium WITHOUT a sway bar disconnect. I know I have talked with you over so many live streams over the past year and I am glad I’m finally getting mine in Supersonic Red in November. Only wish the long bed was an option… thanks for all the content.

I don’t live in the US but in my country we have the Hilux i’m learning as much as I can about your Tacoma because it will probably be similar to the next gen Hilux 🤗
Hey Jon, I love your videos. I have been thinking about getting a 4th gen, and I think you do a great job of honestly assessing your experience with the truck. I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet so I think a give away is a great idea.
Love what you've done with this truck dude. Looks very very good! I own a second gen tacoma but this gives me a little inspiration on what I want to do with my truck someday! About the give away, would love to see it.
Owner of a 2024 Tacoma Limited with the I-Max Hybrid. Love driving it in sport +! Averaging 23.5 MPG in AWD. My only complaint is the SST tires. I'm thinking about opting for 33s, a mild AT 6-ply C rated tire. Just subscribed to the channel, and I'd be honored to take that buggy off of your hands.......
Thanks for your honesty in whether you would buy again and sounds like honeymoon phase is over. I have 6 speed manual transmission in my 2022 Tacoma and my only complaint is I wish the seat base was longer. I also wish I had remote start living in AZ. I think I would pay off my 3rd gen and get a Land Cruiser or 4runner with IFORCE MAX.
Great feedback about the Tacoma Jon! Looking forward to your next adventure with the TRE Pro, and I can't wait for the trailhunter. I'm still on my second gen Tacoma. I didn't get rid of my 1st gen until 3rd gen was out lol. I'm keeping mine for a long long time befor I let them go for newer models. And yest to the giveaway!!!
4th Gen Tacoma - it's the iPhone 16 of trucks. I wanted a Tacoma for so long, but this truck has been a splash of cold water to the face and I'm happy to say I saved my money.
I own a 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR5 V6 Barcelona Red made in Mexico (I bought it brand new) and I love it! I lucked out in being able to buy it (it was covid and there were no new trucks on the lots), I was at the right place at the right time. It's a great truck. No problems with it. It runs great has enough power to go on freeways, and in the city driving. It's my work horse. Best of all it fits in my garage. I can't say enough good things about my Toyota Tacoma. Personally I don't like the little turbo engine "modern" current trend on 2024 and later models. I wish I had bought a Toyota Tacoma years ago.
I just bought my 2024 a couple weeks ago! I also got the TRD Off-Road in Underground. Loving it so far. My wife and I are about to road trip to Colorado from Dallas next week. Can’t wait to take it on the road!

currently have a '21 hybrid Elantra, looking to trade my Elantra in to get one of these some time in a couple years. hopefully the 4th gen Tacoma's is as good as the previous gen, i'd loves to get my hands on one of these.
About to pass 10k on my 4th Gen.. still no issues. I don't have as much weight as you (yet) but I'm slowly adding to it. My biggest concerns at the moment is mostly suspension; I recently put 1400 lbs of cement bags in the bed and it felt like it was bottoming out a bit earlier than it should, and adding a stealth bumper and winch on the front I'm also concerned about the longetivity with the OEM Bilstein struts since they have the internal bump stop. I agree with your conclusion though, the hybrid is the way to go if you're going to go crazy with mods. The only reason though I didn't was because I did not want to lose any interior space.
