I believe the corvette being king of the hill thing is real because of how they underrated the hp and torque numbers on 4th gen fbodys Lt1 and Ls1 also also the I believe the Gmc only getting sytys because Chevrolet only had the 454ss silverado during the same era it was kinda of a let each brands have a special and unique truck that was exclusive to each manufacturer this was mentioned to me by a aquantience whom worked for Gm in marketing at the time this is purely hearsay and speculation but kinda makes sense to me by how Gm marketed these trucks at the time
