shoutout to the folks on my discord server who pointed me towards this song! it was a MONSTER to record, i tell you what. though exhausting, it was SO SATISFYING to hear all the harmonies blend together, especially in the final mix. really happy to have learned about this song and “ride the cyclone,” because i think this might be one of my favorite covers of the ones i’ve done recently!

this song actually got to me, i work with cold case files of unidentified individuals, some unidentified from way before i was even born, but this case im working with rn is pulling my heartstrings, a unidentified little girl, no older then one year old pulled from the lake last year, yet she remains unidentified still, just a tiny little thing and im working to find her family
I hope you're able to find her identity and family! After watching the musical this song is from, I feel so much more empathy towards cases dealing with unidentified people, and I appreciate life more. I also appreciate people like you, who do jobs pertaining to death

Their souls are collected by the fair's fortune telling machine, who will allow one of them to go back to life. She is Jane Doe, the one unidentified body. Her dead friends don't recognize her, neither does anyone alive. Herself doesn't know who she is. This is her song. And every song is as good as this one. You should definitely watch it

I love it down a key. It makes it sound like it's from a tragedy or horror musical, rather than the comedy the original was.

Is actually reminded me of a tabletop character that ive had in my back pocket for years. In fantasy settings they are a changeling, in scifi they are cybernetically augmented to be able to become anyone. But whatever the setting, the story is the same. They have worn so many masks and become so many people, lived so many lives, that they have forgotten who they are originally, even their original name is lost. They are simply Doe, not John or Jane Doe, because even gender is lost to them.

unfortunately, i’m unable to upload the full instrumental. but the key i sang this in is Dbm, which is 4 semitones lower than the original key.

It's a complete wonder why they didn't go for mezzo soprano originally, it sounds so much more like Jane Doe is in anguish over not knowing who she is. You did amazing and I can finally sing this as well. Thank you for your rendition and making it a lower octave.
This was STUNNING! The “time eats all his children in the end” part was chilling! It was like a mixture of Jane Doe feeling a sense of loathing and lost! It took my breath away! I also like how you fixed the song to match your range. Not only did it give it a whole different vibe, but it also gave the whole aspect of Jane Doe’s character a different light! Absolutely amazing!
There's such a depth of anguish to this one, I love it. The og is great, too, but this one feels like a young girl who feels true ire over the loss of a life she can't remember.
Everyone is talking about the cover, and it’s absolutely amazing - Don’t get me wrong - But ever since learning the way the “Ahhh” part pitters off is to mimic her screaming that’s all I can pay attention to at that bit. It’s so harrowing.. You did a fantastic job on the cover though!!!
