Most in depth comparison I've seen. Local dealers are Toro, Hustler, Scag, and Exmark. Believe I'm going scag because dealer himself is honest and personable.
Awesome job young man, I love to see young people who are excited and motivated about something. I’ve been mowing for 30 plus years and can honestly say you’ve helped my decision on which way to go, keep up the good work.
I had the issue you described on my stander x on bumpy terrain where it would cut out and then sometimes not restart again for a while. It ended up being the connector that goes to the PTO switch. When the mower bounces around it tugs on that connector with the weight of the relays and other wires. Mine was loose and also has a small amount of corrosion. Cleaned it up and put it back together with a little dielectric grease and it hasn’t been a problem anymore.
Dude good job on your review. As someone who is looking for their first stand on mower this is exactly what I was looking for. I will still probably request a demo but I think I already know which mower I'm leaning towards.
Wow Bud!!! You continuously impress me with your level of maturity. What a fantastically unbiased & informative comparisson. Very well done Bud. Hoping all is well Brocaroni & Cheese!! Dirty Jersey out!!
I demoed both. You made the better choice. Scag vride 2 cuts good in all conditions. Wright stander x better be dry. Wet and leaves suck on a wright. Scag is the way to go..
Damn it! I was looking for this video 2 weeks ago when I narrowed down my purchase to these 2 mowers. Now it pops up on my feed. Ended up buying the V Ride 2 with the 37hp van guard.

I just started doing lawns in 2019. I bought a 2004 fixed deck 36” Wright stander 17hp with electric start. Someone put a new motor on it and battery stand. They are a little slow but the cut is really good. I just started using Ballard X blade adapter trying to show off a even better cut. Just buy Wright mowers. The steel they use is very strong.

Thanks for sharing man. My buddy Chris (that you met at GIE) is wanting to get rid of the VRIDE and switch to Wright. Maybe this will help him make up his mind.
You left no stone unturned, great review. I think I would like the Scag a little more, but sadly there's not a lot of lawns that warrant investing in a stander in the SF Bay Area. Most lawns are small, and have complicated features like slopes, islands, trees, and beds where a walk behind really excels. A 36 incher or preferrably smaller may be a game changer. I hear the tiny Wrights are replacing lots of push mowers and walk behinds.
Appreciate it bud! They must be small lawns there haha! The new wright 32 inch is pretty sweet! It's slow for what I'm used to but it'd probably be perfect for yards as small as yours :)
I enjoyed your video and the comparison of both mowers Wonderful job comparing and explaining both machines looking forward to watching more of your videos keep up the good work
They all make tall grass short. That Hass to be the coolest comment. I’ve ever heard in this industry over the last 19 years. Very excellent review. The one thing I’m curious about. It’s gonna be blade selection. Are you going to run the highlift blades or the mulching blades. During the season I was changing my blades twice a week. Running the Oregon mulching blades. I tried Hylas and didn’t like the cut. I have owned John Deere, Scagg and Dixie chopper. Actually, my favorite was the Dixie chopper. They had made a lot of changes to their mower. However, parts from time to time did become an issue., But it would still eat a lot of grass.
Very helpful, I love their 36. I’m on the fence in purchasing the 52 x or B model. Any opinion? I cut about 35 lawns and would use the 52 for half the jobs. There’s a big cost difference between the 2, more concerned about quality vs the money.
Love the facts and no sensationalizing. Scag about 75 lbs heavier. Not sure why. Awesome review. For the record, Im going with the VRide. Scag power baby! Thanks.
Wrights are kings here in Miami and in reliability Wrights are more reliable then scags don't get me wrong scags are great mowers but the decks after 3000 hours of usage get ready to start having them welded in different parts of the deck I've seen Wrights with over 5000 hours and decks are in perfect shape it's a much stronger deck then scag here in Miami we put 1000 to 1200 hours a year on mowers it's very common to see mowers here with over 5000 hours and more thanks for the info.
Hey wyatt, so did you ever check the pitch on your v-ride deck ? (1/4 higher in back) and did this fix the clogging of the deck? Do you still have to scrape the deck as much?
New mowers always need scraped less than older ones. once the finish wears off that write the deck will need to be scraped like any other mower. But over all that was a great review. It also reinforced my opinion that all mowers have their flaws, and it comes down to personal preference.
Hey bud, I message then about the damm scalp wheel on that side on my zk and they said dont need it but I took some pictures I'm 100 percent agree with yo on the wheels there ,, we need scalp wheel on that side
I have run 4 different Stander X mowers in the past 7 years. I have had both carbureted and EFI engines and never have had engines cut out on rough ground. The fuel tank on the Stander X (Gen 2) is 8 gallon. I have never broken a gauge wheel. The speed of the Wright Stander X is listed at 9.5 MPH and the Scag V-Ride II is listed on the web site at 10.5 MPH.
Adjust the front of the deck downward, I think it’s a half inch on the Scag. I had a lot of the same complaints on my velocity deck after hearing that. I was scraping it out once or twice a yard. Since then I’ve probably scraped my deck 3-4 times. I mow in rain all the time. It lives up to the hype now.
Wyatt's lawn service start with 1/4 then try 1/2. I’m up in Mass, grass is always wet. I never messed with the baffle. Good luck, it changed my scag completely haha
It was informative about the things you need to know. I do not care how well either one cuts weeds that are 3 feet tall in one pass. I like the comment "The deck is stupid easy to lift on the wright" . That is good information to have. Thanks for the review.

I understand where you come from but I've honestly not been impressed with my Scag what so ever. Not in the cut, reliability, or fuel consumption. To me they are close but the wright wins
We have a couple of solid frame Wrights with 8k hours on them with the OEM hydros. On the other hand my V-ride 61” blew its first hydro at 100hrs, then again shortly after replacement. Then a wheel motor, then the hydro again. The dealer made us pay after first repair, I’ll never buy a pos Scag in my life.

One benefit to the wright with the engine mounted to the deck it also lowers the center of gravity making it more stabile on a hill.
