    Great video, very thorough and seemed pretty unbiased. It's interesting that everybody has different opinions/experiences based on their needs. We had to make a decision on new mowers this year too and tested everything around us. In our experience we liked the Scags the least and thought very highly of cub cadet. We ultimately went with a Bad Boy stander and have been extremely happy, great HP and smooth steering and the deck is a beast. For our residential oriented mower we got cub cadet, it stripes like nothing else and the smoothness of the cut rivals exmark.

    • @lawnandlight
      @lawnandlight  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching. Yes I would agree. Everyones properties and experience will play heavily into the final decision. Along with dealer support. Let me know how those Bad Boys hold up. I tested one a couple weeks after there first stander hit the market and didn’t love the cut but I’m sure they have worked out some kinks since then. Or maybe it was the types of grass here that it didn’t like. I think when the cub cadet adds some efi options they will continue to grow their sales.

      @@lawnandlight will do, I have an older bad boy ztr with the previous deck that is a little disappointing in terms of striping but has been good overall for our larger parks and commons areas. The new deck on the stand on I think has been excellent so far, it stripes nicely and handles heavy discharge well with no stragglers. I agree on cub, as soon as they add some good efi engines I may consider changing a few mowers or upgrading to them in a couple years

I am in Florida and I agree, Bahia will beat a mower to death. Did you get a chance to test the Cub cadet on St. Augustine and if so what height did you cut at. currently have a couple new 36 vride 2 and a scag sit down. Looking at a 54 inch.

    • @lawnandlight
      @lawnandlight  4 роки тому +2

      Hey D Miles. Thanks for watching. We didn’t have n opportunity to cut St Augustine. Just Bahia, centipede and Bermuda. It cut all 3 well. In our experience, if a mower can cut Bahia well, it usually handles good grass really well unless it is overgrown. A Cub rep called me the other day asking if we wanted to demo again so I think they are continually pushing to get it into the market. Shouldn’t be too hard for you to get one to test out. Let me know what you think if you test one.

    I had scag vr2. 1st. Control need to work on it when you down on a hill that deck move or push the mower to sides You hit a pump your line is off. On tall grass is ok. vr2 when you go up hill budge. But again. They need to do better on the controls to stiff. I don’t know about cadet or gravely. But on stand mower wright is the best the controls is like best those control will do what you want. I have one. Like I say I have a scag. But on cutting tall grass. I give to the exmark.

  • @Likethetacosauce
    @Likethetacosauce 2 роки тому +1

    I've used an older v ride 61" as well as a pro stance 52". I could not stand the platform of the scag. When it would bottom out over hard hitting holes it sent all the pressure into my lower back. The controls were also very touchy and stiff. They were exhausting to use.
    I have put the pro stance on slopes that I could barely walk up and it would hold it almost the whole time. The platform did a great job of absorbing those hard hits. The controls were nearly effortless and I could manage them 1 handed when using the mower and backpack blower.
    Probably more biased to the pro stance since I have an overwhelming amount of time on them compared to a v ride. With that said I'm sure the v ride 2 is as good if not better than a pro stance. They're are so many pro and cons to each mower it really is best if someone has the chance to demo one to figure out if that mower works best for them and their needs.

      Hey Freeman Lawncare, We have run Scags quite a bit more than John Deere. But enough to tell you that in our area (East Texas with lots of bahai grass) the Scag outcuts the John Deere by a pretty big margin. By outcut, I mean less times making extra passes and the dispersement of the grass itself. Even on nice grasses such as st augustine, centipede, zoysia & bermuda, the scag seems to do a little better. That's just my opinion based on my experience. In your area though if you have different grasses, the John Deere may be the best bet. Have you run both of these decks before? If so, what are your thoughts?

    • @felawncareservices8399
      @felawncareservices8399 4 роки тому +4

      @@lawnandlight great video btw! I have demoed the mulch on demand deere deck and it missed dandelions causing me to double cut like I'm stuck doing with my exmark. From what you described I need to go with scag. I'm in Georgia and have some bahia that my exmark will only cut the seed heads in half and misses almost all dandelions. I'm so tired if double cutting with a 48. I demoed the pro stance it was way to slow in reverse and I did not like that I had to keep my hand on the left control. I really want the vride but due to uneven yards I'm scared I'll scalp a lot as I use my foot to float the deck now and cuts down on trim time. So I'm torn between a ztr or stander. But feel a 61 is to big in a stander but coming from a 48 I want to get done faster with a 61. And I'll keep my 48 for bagging small back yards pools etc.

    • @lawnandlight
      @lawnandlight  4 роки тому +4

      thank you. I agree with with having to hold your hand on the left control on the Gravely. That drove me crazy too but i forgot to talk about it on the video. The 61 is a beast and you do have to be careful about scalping. We have some massive yards so we have to go with the 61's for efficiency. I think you may be surprised though how fast you can adjust to your yards with a 61. It will only take a bit for you to kind of relearn your yards to continue to make them look good without floating. Also, we ended up buying new V-Rides out of these 3 mowers if that helps. And when they are brand new, shiny and perfectly lubed up, you can float the deck some. I forgot to mention dealer support. You already know thats really important but here's a video that we are releasing today at 2pm. I think this link will work.

      @@lawnandlight that's awesome will be looking for the video. I subscribed. Dealer support is a must! Scag is my best and closest. Only 11 minutes from me. I mow part time after my full time job. I have exactly 40 bi weekly accounts plus my own lawn so I just mowed 82 yards this past month. 3 of them are 2 acres the rest are 1 acre mostly if not 3/4. So would a 52 vride be a lot faster than my 48 sit down. Or play it safe and get the 61 tc2 with 32 vanguard... or I've even thought about fleet and get a 61 cheetah and 52 vride or 48 vride and sell my exmark. But then again I will probably mostly be on the 61 and waste a warranty and payment on the other. I'm very confused on what to do as you can see lol. I demoed the turf tiger with the 37 efi. That was a beast. But I fear repair costs on efi later. Wish scag would do a 3 year warranty cause if I buy now I'll waste 1 year once the seasons over. How often do you have to grease everything? I'm used to the sealed bearings and tool less belt change. I did feel great after working with the vride.

    • @lawnandlight
      @lawnandlight  4 роки тому +6

      I think you’d probably be surprised how much a 52 would help over at 48. There are a few main reasons we run v rides. In order, 1. Price 2. Efficiency 3. Better hill stability 4. Size for trailering
      If your scag dealer is the best I think that solidifies your decision. We grease spindles once a week with blade changes and try to get the other greased areas as well. We just bought a Milwaukee battery powered grease gun which has made this effortless. There are cheaper ones out there but I would recommend to get one when you get a scag.
      We have run the kohler efi on our v rides and love it. If you keep everything clean it works great. It sounds like you operate everything yourself so you would probably be great at this. And the fuel savings is about 20% or more.
      The cost savings on fleet is pretty substantial if you can go that route. I’m not sure what the 61 v ride with kohler efi is regular price but we bought 2 of them for $7700 each. Sheffield is doing 48 months 0% interest if your credit is decent. We make payments large enough to pay off in 3 years when we will buy new ones anyways. Ends up being about $450/month. Hard to beat that with 2 mowers. I think A new Turf Tiger runs $12k - 14k. Is that right?
      I understand the mass confusion of this process of buying new mowers. We have been through it too. There’s just so much you have to consider. Try to look at what your needs are now and where you want to be in a year and buy according to that and your financial position as well. If you have to hire a helper at some point, a lot of your yards may be more efficient if you are both on a mower at the same time and then both weedeat an blow at the same time as well.
      Hope that helps.

    I don't find any of these reviews on the gravely true..I have the prostance 60 and a scag windstorm I'm much more comfortable on the gravely the platform that everyone crabs about, u can stand back on it and really shift ur weight around especially on inclines and the controls are night and day difference my hands are exhausted running the scag the controls are very stiff and hard to squeeze where the gravely is smooth as butter just like my toro walkbehind very easy to squeeze and especially going downhill the scag wonders a bit the gravley straight as an arrow. Maybe the scag mowers are different than the windstorm idk but there isn't one thing I like about the scag better than the gravely.the deck height adjustment on gravely sits horizontal with the deck heights listed plain as day u pull the deck up pull the pin and put in desired height instantly where all others are vertical with deck height adjustment on side completely out of site it seems u can't change with out dismounting. Scag vide 2 60" 13.5k gravely 10.5k

      Great points. If you love the gravely then that’s the mower for you. Don’t let our review move you away from that. We appreciate your comment and information for the other viewers to consider.

      Why I did this I don't no but I got rid of my gravley and bought the 2023 v ride 2 a couple months back worst decision I've ever made I absolutely can't stand this mower,the stance is horrible its like ur downhill sking ur knees are constantly bent if u try 2 lean in 2 use the whole pad you're hanging over the front of the tower and controls.being in the mower instead of on the platform makes it impossible to really lean in2 the slope, gas tank on one side and fender that u drive ur knee in2 on the other just a major bummer. The scag constantly drags the rear tire when ur turning if ur on even the slightest slope I've got drag marks all over my lawns now. The controls are twice as hard to squeeze the return to natural are springs and are way 2 strong if ur hand slips the lever instantly comes back and abruptly stops the mower where the gravely controls come back to natural hydraulically very smooth..the only thing this scag mower does and does well is cut 38.5 hp kawa plus the deck design gives it an incredible cut..I hope this reaches some people and saves them from a scag

    I believe the gravely could possibly be the better one om the hill and this video got lost in unproven intuitions about it.
    The platform of the gravely is where it is to facilitate the walk behind capability, which could be incredibly good with a 32 or 36 in difficult terrain, again this video didn't care for it.

      You might be right. Unintentional bias is a possibility, not intended. However, we did try to judge each one with the same lens. That’s why there were several categories. “Didn’t care for it” isn’t an accurate representation. Your unintentional or intentional bias may move you in the direction of the Gravely. At the end of the day they are all great machines so use what you prefer.
