The Sicilian Najdorf is one of the most dangerous chess openings ever played. Black immediately strives to introduce mass complications and imbalances, conceding a long-term positional advantage to white in the form of a backwards black pawn on d6 and a permanent weakness on d5 - in exchange for the black pieces achieving rapid activity in the center and excellent chances to counter-attack on the queenside. Black typically aims to play for thematic pawn breaks involving ..d6-d5 and ..b7-b5 to liberate his position, combined with strong pressure on the half-open c-file. The validity of the Sicilian Najdorf at the highest levels of chess is unquestionable - this chess opening has been employed by countless top professionals and world chess champions, including Bobby Fischer, Garry Kasparov, Viswanathan Anand, Veselin Topalov, Boris Gelfand, etc.. In the following chess video excerpt from the 3 hour chess DVD ¨Crushing White with the Sicilian Najdorf¨ Grandmaster Rafael Leitão introduces the main variations and sidelines as well as the fundamental positional concepts in the Sicilian Najdorf.

Very interesting and informative lecture. I learned a lot from it. Just curious that you did not cover 6. f3 because engine analysis appears to favor 6. f3, 6. h3, and 6. Be3 over the alternatives. I posted the analysis data online and would be very interested in your comments. Here is the link: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2553614
