I like the sound effects. "Bishop captures e6, BAM!!!" :D
I have been watching chess daily videos for a good year now. I have a few favorites authors on here. You are definitely one of them. I always smile when you do that one sound effect, "BAM!" You are entertaining to say the least. I'm really glad you feel called to sit, down and clearly explain all of this to a select subculture of people who love the game. Take care and keep you the good work... Thank you.
Very helpful. The Najdorf is a troubling defense to counter.
Study the Taimanov hedgehog stuff, to really get a handle on it, is my amateurish advice. You see all the same themes, only the Najdorf stakes out the b5 square with that characteristic 6. ... b6 move. Taimanov generally gets that ... a6 move in, later, because White generally doesn't occupy b5 when Black allows it with 6. ... e6.
It's very safe way for beginners to get out of the opening in decent shape, but I never felt I had any real mastery of the middle-game tactics. That's one of the reasons I enjoy GJ. He helps me to think in themes. In this video, the sack of the white-squared Bishop on e6 for 3 pawns and a "serially" misplaced King is the theme. ... Nbd7 is a very natural move, supporting the Knight on f6, and getting you one step closer to ... Rc8, if you're following Black's natural plan, with the half-open c-file bearing down on the Knight on c3.
But there are also just plain tactical themes of which to be aware. Always have a mind to any pieces resting on the same rank as the Queen check. It can open your eyes to piece-for-a-pawn sacrifices if it opens up a Queen check on a5 and capture of, for instance, a white Bishop on g5. I wasn't seeing those (or setting those up) before GJ.
I've seen this trap before, but GJ's video is the clearest explication of it that I've seen. Thank you GJ.
Gunjan thank you so much for sharing the main line.
I find these videos very helpful my friend and truly appreciate the help.
quote of the day: "When you are losing you just lose" Rofl:)
Hey GJ- glad to see you are still posting. Thanks for this great video---just like all your videos. I'm around a 1500-1600 level player (uscf) but I am really hoping with the help of your great vids to improve vastly! Love to play on chess.com if you still play there.
Hey, curious what your rating on chess.com is, are their ratings pretty accurate with your USCF rating?
YAY i watched it first !!,Thanks for another wonderful trick GJ.And because of your Videos i got into chess and i think i leveled up. Again thanks for everything
Gunjan, your videos are GOLD! Thanks again :D
Great lesson, thanx !!!
I very much like the bishop sacrifice on e6. It works vs ~1850 quite often.
what great trick, I like your posted videos. it helps me to upgrade my game.
at 6:15 there are few options
1. Nf6
2.Rf6
blocking queens black line
for black 3 pawns down, losing heavy material with most precise moves maybe stopping the mate, king in the center, kingside without any pawn, white ready to castle, no direct threats against white (eiter forks etc.) and all over the position maybe 3 moves to consolidate during a retreat - this is lost anyway, does not matter if you play Hugo VanHinten or Magnus Carlsen.
This song is so cool for chess 😎
10:46 f5 can be met by Bxg5+ which stops the initiative.
Bxg5 is not good. After Kb1 white play Rg1 and black have a problems, also Qh5 is dangerous.
Great stuff GJ! Thanks.
Hallo GJ Chess
5:45 Nf4 Ke7 Qg7# game over
Nf4+ Kf7 game is not over.
At 10:44 you say to chase the knight with G5 and then make the f5 push gaining the initiative. Why would this be bad for black? He can just capture the G5 pawn with check. He would likely have to keep his king in the center but that is common in many Sicilian lines.
At 9:20, discussion on Mainline Najdorf Sicilian begins. 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 Nf6 5 Nc3 a6 6 Bg5. The position at 12:21 is reached by 6 ... e6 7 f4 Be7 8 Qf3 Nbd7 9 0-0-0 Qc7 10 g4 b5 11 Bxf6 Bxf6 12 Bxb5! axb5 13 Ndxb5 Qb8 14 Nxd6+ Kf8. Shouldn't the move ought to be 15 e5 instead of the video's suggestion that it be 15 Nxc8?
I like the color commentary!
in the first trick problem comes on move 12 .. rg8. its not so obvious that black will play because of fork, but if plays white is losing
I love your videos. I did notice that at 10:48, after white plays f5, black can take the g5 pawn with check. Would this change the attacking chances?
+Marsha Rupe I saw this too and went to comment. Video lost me right there. After Bxg5+ kb1, Black can simply castle, and if white takes the pawn with their "tremendous initiative" the recapture comes with tempo on the terrible and awkwardly placed queen. Its just nonsense
+Marsha Rupe I ran it through the stockfish engine on Lichess. The position after bxg5 and on is 0.0. It equalizes.
+Marsha Rupe just play rook g1 and then play g5, no big deal i guess
Oh and if he captures you got an open file for your rook, that gives you a very strong attack
+Adam Cunningham The first time I saw the main line, I too thought that the pawn could be taken with check. But, what you are trying to do in the Najdorf is to prevent white from getting an open file to your king. If you castle, then you simply loose faster as you will get crushed on the g file. Not to mention that after you castle, Rg1 also gains time on your bishop. Even so, capturing the bishop using knight IS the main move. Black usually can remain steady thanks to queenside counterplay later on. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions.
+Marsha Rupe you can look with an engine, after Bxg5 black are lost if ...Bxg5, Rb1 0-0, fxe6 fxe6, Dg2 attacking the bishop
Good stuff. Thanks
Played a lot of blitz with a club player who'd always trade a piece for the 2 pawns against the b5 move by black. He figured he could win back the piece with his queenside pawn roller.
Thank you.
At 10:55, after f5, black will respond with Bxg5 with a check. Isn,’t that bad for the white?
This!
at 10:48 you said that white has an initiative after f5 but what after B ×g5+?
Sry to say buy your tricks are applicable in some cases with weak opponent, once i played with my cca classmate he is 2100 rated,i tried your trick but after all sacrifice he did not accept the last one and i lost bishop and pawn, the dragon one in which after e5 black can play his knight instead of capturing with d pawn.
The sound effects - Bam bam! Did you work in a metal factory? 😂
Do reply if you liked it!
And watch out my stupid channel! No less than a torchure ! 😂
Great! Thank you very much master!
Wow that's pretty brutal. I play the Najdorf all the time and thankfully have never had this happen to me........yet. How does black avoid these complications in this opening?
So good!
I love ur signatures BAAMM!!!its only you..
Subscribed! You are amazing..
You're awesome dude
How about 10. ... Qb6 11. Nxg7+ Kf8 and if 11. Kd5, then Qxb2 (gaining back 1 pawn and protecting Ng6) and if 12. Ke6 then Kg7
I wonder what the continuation would be from this but it seems black can eventually gain some advantage
Why cannot e5?It's attacking the rook and the bishop, right? And,it's not too risky right?@11:22
Nice
nice one
Thanks man this helped me a lot
could you do a tutorial on the easy Budapest Gambit
Super
At 10:51, wouldn't black's obvious move be Bxg5+, easily regaining the initiative?
TheProudIslamist I saw the same thing. Gunjan must have missed this move. Black need not castle king side either.
Al Kowsky yep.. he missed it...but no hurry...just play h4 first :)
TheProudIslamist I don't think he means to immediately advance the pawn to f5
What to do if after white bishop to g5 is responded by pawn to b4? Please answer
BAMM!! Very interesting! thank you
Truly Masterful A+ across the board 👍♟️🐿️
3:45 Knights are the most deceiving piece on the board at the start of games. When the board starts to clear, they start to become less useful. Plus, stalemate if only kings and one knight on one or both sides are left.
But for beginner, knight fork in end game is annyoing
If Nc5 then, Nxe7, Kxe7, Bxf6, Kxf6, Qd4+ is winning, or Nc6 then, Nxe7, Re8, Bxf6, Kxf6, Nd5+ Kg7, 0-0 is winning or more stronger.
Great
at 8:42 black could have done A5-A2, then A1 check.
What about 8.12 b4 instead of Bc3?
gunjan at 6:45 if black plays Qc7 e5 Bb7 attacking the queen then what should we do
Hey man, great videos! One question though. What if in 6:31 instead of bishop to e7, black tries to hunt the bishop with pawn to h6 followed with pawn to e5?
10:52. How is the pawn G5 protected? Can anyone tell me? black can take it with a check.
Qb6 is blunder Qb4 is correct move save the checkmate and achive discovery attack what do you think opponent is stupid time 8:58 minutes
At 10:27 why not go Rxd7 first, then e5? Otherwise after e5 first black can go Nxe5…
sir but at 7:17 b4 instead of f*e6 is winning for black.black would have an easy game with more material.
What happens if he goes E5 not E6
Do you talk about Fide Rating? 1880
At 5:45 you said qQ7 , but Nf4, then Ke7 then Qg7 is forced mate
What am I supposed to do if black responds to bishop to g4 with knight to c4??
how about Nc6 rather than Nbd7?
In 6:01, why isn’t Nf6 a better defense for black?
ممتاز
At 4:38 instead of QD4+ there was ND5+
love the intro music
10.54 why not Bxg5+ ? for black
What about wing gambits? 1. E4 c5. 2. B4?! Any good?
What do you recommend in nbd7 line after bg5 some of my opponent has gone for the immediate nc5? which I find is very annoying move to face. They want to take my lovely lightsquare bishop and i have no tricks on e6 :(
gunjan at 1:54 if black plays Nf5 what should we do
What is a your rating
sir do you take private classes too for chess??
after bishop to G5, what if they respond with Knight to C5?
Question: 10:48 What if he plays Bxg5+
i ask the same question
What about Nc6
Volume up please!
Thanks again Gunjan for very nice entertaining and educating video !!! But i want to ask you that at 10:48 in the video you say white can advance f5, but i think it weakens g5 and black can play Bxg5+ ! then what should white do ?
Bxg5+ is only superficially dangerous. After 14 Kb1 O-O 15 fxe6 White has regained the pawn, since 15 ... fxe6 16 Qg2 (threatening the bishop) Bf4 17 Qxg7+ Kxg7 18 Nxe6+ regains the queen, and White winds up with an extra pawn while Black has a very exposed king. So Black would do better to instead play 15 ... Ne5, but after 16 Qg3 White will be able to hold on to the pawn, for example 16 ... Bf6 17 Nd5 Qd8 and if White wishes he can play 19 exf7+ here, but 19 Bh3 is even stronger (19 ... fxe6 20 Bxe6+ and Black dare not play 20 ... Bxe6, as after 21 Nxe6 White forks queen and rook).
What if after 16Qg2 Bf6
The pronunciation of najdorf is:
Na-ee-do-rf. u r pronouncing it incorrectly
Lame remark. Nothing else of value to add? Lol
i like ur tutorials.. want to knw ur rating.....
+chandan singh look in the youtube channel information
OK..at 12:40.. what if black Queen did not take the rook??
BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gooo video
these are the times when you don't have a camera 😂
11.2 Bishop captures pawn after f5 ... Bxg5+
10:48 Did anyone consider the move ..Ne5 in response to f5?
When you attack the queen with the knight you moved the queen in Qa5 why not Qb6
3:40 after Nxd6 tho then Bxd6 Qxd6 then Qxg5?
What to do if black plays e5 and white's knight is threatened
+Sedna Yo I think you're talking about 10:39 , the simple response is ...Bb7 attacking the queen and also threatening to win the rook after the queen moves.
Bam good
11:19 can't white play e5?
Bang!
overall second trick is not good because of 7:25 Qd7 instead of Qa5
Imagine....@10:48, Black bishop capture the pawn on g5 with Check BAAAAAAAAAMMM!!! I lost the initiative.
I like your Bammm😂😂
What happens if Bxg5+?
10:49
5:41 knight f4 and queen g7
This is much more forcing, shorter and more accurate than the one chosen.
I still dont get why u didnt just take the rook, now my head is hurting...
how if 7:25 Qd7 instead of Qa5? ...i think Qd7 is the better move and white will be losing
I was also wondering this. I see no reason for Qa5
Yeah stockfish chess engine says you are winning by quite a bit at this point, and the game does play on a bit easily
11:21 What about e5
