Wow, what a line up. Didn't expect to see the MR-S competing in European hillclimbs. And I love the Esprit V8 😎 And congrats to the winner against some strong opposition!
Kadett C 16V: 1/2 of the cylinders, less than 1/2 of the displacement, 1/2 of the power, only 100Kg lighter and still it beat the C GT/R. But then they were both beaten by a 2.0L FWD Scirocco.😀

@@gothicpagan.666 nope, very well known car in South Africa. The track it's build for is a lot less corners and more straights, so aimed at a lot of top end power, which the MR-2 can't really use on this track here
Awesome little bunch of cars! The Toyota surprised me for sure, that thing definitely has more performance in it just from the look of the run. But man that Porsche is just planted, you can tell that it’s an unbelievably refined race car just by looking at it through a few corners

Unfortunately many are just the LS engines. Why do something great when you can be part of the crowd I guess. GM does make some interesting things though.
Watched these vintage hatches develop over the past 40 years. They make modern hypercars look slow. Blowing up Haleakala volcano in my built narrow hillclimb Cobra is such an intense joy.
that lotus is cool, never seen one do an uphill i think. i feel like the chassis is a real downside to this car. thanks to " Soup Classic Motoring" going into detail on them. they just dont seem that good of a pick, but damn fun i bet still

Top Video, nice variation of cars! The only thing i would love to see more often in such videos are the single seaters like the small Formel renault or the crazy fast norma m20 or osella pa/fa30 cars. Every car here is great, but people should see everything and get more about it, as the osellas are probably the pinnacle of hillclimb racing in europe.
I hope you dont get me wrong here, i love the Videos. I just want to add some constructive criticism, as seen in the commentary section some people think Nicolas Werver was the winner, when he was at the full result around 18s behind the fastest man and new track record holder.
What is that distinctive metallic ring I often hear in high-performance German cars? If you watch early 1990s DTM they all have that sound, like a brassy ring to the engine note, it's hard to describe. 3:52 is a good example
beautiful 1st car. has celica rear, thought it had been celica untill saw front and amazed. strange car, then read its lotus. unfortunately such cars already in the past and as a subaru driver can say unfortunately its not used in rally anymore only front or rear wheel drive cars or 4wd porshes. but i like subaru with its insane steering behavior

Yeah this would be cool but many hill climbs have thight corners that would be extremely hard for F1 cars because they´re too long.

Part of the appeal of Hillclimb Racing. Proper narrow, challenging roads with no run-off make things much more interesting and less linear...

As much as I love a good turbo build, there is something magical about a naturally aspirated engine at 9k RPM.

Lotus Esprit hands down my favorite of those cars, if there had been a BMW M1 or an Audi s1 quattro it might have made it a harder choice.
