Who chose that wierdo music geez I'm glad I can fwd but holy crap
After so long... youtube finally made a good recommendation
This channel ever year or two makes a damn good documentary of their journey. Highly underrated.
@@adrianp3098 Every year or two? I'm not sure if that's supposed to be positive feedback or not...
Seriously, that got pinned? For shame.
@@themajesticmanic2751 Well there’s not too many events they do and record. They do quality over quantity.
Agreed
"What happened?"
"We put a Powerstroke into a GTR and it didn't work."
I love this guy's attitude toward the whole situation. Can't wait to see them come back next year and crush the record.
that response from him got me too. Man, that positive attitude is something special
Hopefully with a Cummins instead of a powerchoke

The fact that you guys even had something that passed tech and participated is a accomplishment.
@Katrina Korolov Finding a hill that has the same loading for the same distance to failure will be a challenge. A flat race track may not provide the same dynamics. Dyno work may be the way to go.

38:12 that “hmmf” was such a mellow reaction to such a monumentally maddening moment. Props to Cole for staying cool. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Next year is going to be lit for your team with a year of testing and refinement under your belt, but now your competition has a target to aim for 😉
For real right!? The second I heard that motor chug I yelled FUCH🤣🤣 so calm. At that point his brain probably wasn't even working hardly from lack of sleep. Prob comprimised equivalent to if not more so than driving drunk. Sleep deprivation is nasty
At that point after trying the engine so many times, he was probably resigned to his fate. It's the point at which you just have to laugh at such galling bad luck (at the same spot as qualifying, after all) because there's nothing else to do.
@@SmallBlogV8 yeah he for sure took his anger out on the starter, he was turning that thing over like crazy i bet he did it triple the amount than they showed. Very humbled HMMph
Cole was the only person I lost a race to in high school and I don’t even feel bad about it. Seeing this is awesome.
Was it a foot race?

Wow this is one Hell of a story I stumbled across!!! Had no idea I just watched a 40min video it was so engrossing. Good Luck guys!!! Y’all gained a new subscriber and I’ll be keeping up with you guys on the next run. It’s like a hood book and I’m waiting for the next chapter to be written👍👍🤟🤟
Please change that MUSIC. It is horrendous.
Not usually a fan of diesel builds but this one is just too cool to not love. Great work guys. Love seeing the struggle and not just the race. Really encapsulates the hard times the teamwork needed to make dreams come true.
Western Champion did a Diesel Mustang and they worked most of the bugs out of it and it was a pretty nice car...I was shocked it got done. Yes the GT-R is a much smaller chassis but still... I'd like to see those two go toe to toe.
this video was nuts, such high video production quality, you guys deserve a better reception for this honestly!
Seems they have it
...and they will!
unless they fail.. again
I agree, but also At the same time I can understand why they wouldn’t. I think an electric car was introduced a few years back. Electric cars presence in the pikes peak hill climb has increased every year from other groups. Now these guys show up with diesel conversions lmao. Personally, I love diesel conversion builds, but I can see why the hippies would get their panties in a bunch.
Guys, please. NEVER. EVER. GIVE. UP. Never ever give up on this record, and never give up on Frank. She is an absolute monster and I will be here to see her claim that record she is owed. I mean come on, 20 seconds faster than ole Smokey on the first section? IT’S RIGHT THERE GUYS! JUST DON’T GIVE UP ON HER. I’m so in love with this build, and the vision behind the team. All of y’all are super talented awesome people, and the work ethic is absolutely awe inspiring. That week was hell I’m sure, but let that fire forge a race car to claim that record. A Powerstroke Diesel GTR is something I never knew I needed until I came across ol Frank the Tank. Need more Frank merch and I can’t wait to see y’all this year!
You guys tried something that was just absolutely bat crap crazy and made it work for the most part. Most people would just give up at the point it all came apart (literally from the sound of it,) but you guys, especially Cole are only mildly discouraged and are going to learn from this and do it all again next year. I'll definitely be watching the day Cole takes Frank up the mountain and smokes the diesel record.
The video production was out of this world. A lot of props goes to the team for having such amazing dedication and perseverance. Next year, you guys will crush that record!
With that 6.0 powerstroke its a wonder yall even made it to the top...7.3 for life...
Bruh ain't nobody spending twice the amount of money for the same amount of horsepower from a 7.3 lmao
What a great documentary of a bunch of guys with a coal burning dream trying to do something normal people would think is crazy. Amazing struggle, Amazing effort, Amazing Filmography. Can't wait for part 2.

Absolutely love watching this team with each passing year!!!!!
This is so amazing! Great work guys, you will get that beast to the top! Thanks for sharing this amazing journey and I can not wait to see what you guys do next time!
You guys epitomize team work! Having experienced many years in and around Formula and GT racing, the dedication and determination to succeed you guys displayed was up wit the best. Best wishes for next year's attempt. I will be watching.
To hear that monster take off. My god you guys are amazing! Keep up the amazing work. I can not wait for next year and see you guys break record!
Well done to everyone involved. Looking forward to this journey. Also, major props on the actual making of the video. Nice work. -Ben
Fantastic guys! What a thriller of a journey. You guys deserve a win, record and the finally you’ve all worked so hard for. Such an incredible build!! 🎉
This is why I love hill climb cars! The builds are totally insane! Who would ever ever thought to swap a diesel in a gtr? 🤯🤘🔥 what an amazing video!
Lyfe Motorsport is the most determined and coolest team. You guys do amazing work. You had seen what it could do, 20 second up in first sector.
Look Jett racing, they built extremely wild compound turbo 4g63 Mitsubishi lancer Evo with 2000 horsepower, wild stuff considering it's a 2 liter 4 cylinder engine, 6 seconds for quarter mile be wild as hell
Awesome story you guys will make it next year and the overcoming of the sleepless times and let downs makes you stronger. Stay motivated and humble. Greetings from Okinawa Japan
Even if you did finish and didn't win I wouldn't care. Unique is what make Pikes Peak special and you guys hands down delivered.
Great video and an amazing build. Good luck for next year guys. You’ve got this 👍🏼👍🏼
These guys should have watched everything wrong with a 6.0 by DeBoss Garage 😂
The 6.0 is a very tunable and capable engine...when it works. That is when it works
Number one thing wrong with the 6.0 was it was a complex motor. Works great but takes mechanics with actual knowledge on the platform. Lots of stories of people dropping 10k plus dollars into them due to simple problems. If the shop doesn’t have a clue then they just throw parts at it.
@@jordainepenner6232 maybe... I think there's a reason why I never see them in tractor pulls idk what these guys where thinking
@@garnetdavey8776 yeah I think there's a couple of other great options they shoulda gone with.
@@garnetdavey8776 Look up Jesse Warren and Charlie Keeter.
after enough years of being a car enthusiast, there's only so many things that make you go "wow". i feel like i've seen it all, from 2jz minivans to aero monsters at tsukuba, true gods driving through the nurburgring, and this build just got added to the list. awe inspiring. such a sick build!
You should look at the history of insane cars built just for pikes peak in this tradition of massive aero kits and monster HP.
@Karl with a K nobody cares. Stop bitching on UA-cam, start a business, make millions, help who YOU want to help and stop trying to force an opinion on others when it's obviously not welcome.
@Karl with a K They added more to society throughout their life and continue to do so, more so than you most probably ever will. They worked hard and were rewarded big, now enjoy what they worked for. Wheres the issue?!
@Karl with a K Jesus, youre delusional. In order to amass the wealth needed to fund this, hard work is imperative. The idea that they must not have worked hard because they now have time to live their dream is flawed in every possible way. One that has been able to collect wealth, if over one or multiple generations, adds more value to society than the average worker. Considering that hes not multi billionaire out of touch with life, the most likely conclusion on how wealth was amassed is through entrepreneurship. It adds to society in various ways, ranging from innovation, more tax income to the government, to creating workplaces, most likely decreasing unemployment to an extent. There are so many factors you refuse to consider due to your narrow view dictated by jealousy and a lack of understanding.
Awesome video! Love the efforts you all went to! And that calm reaction as it broke down I felt that as that's what I do when them things happen! Like what else can you do! Take care and all the best next time
What a contrast in driving style! Most flat track racers drive on the edge of control. This guy had only 1 hay bale every half mile! He was taking those outside corners REAL CAREFUL! "Let's go fast, but live to drive again!"
why not go for a v6 3.0t tdi or v8 4.2 tdi? would likely be more reliable under throttle in the curves, (while being waaaay lighter and having stock applications that bolt up to a zf8hp awd trans) i understand they are more complicated but having worked on 6.0's, 7.3's, cummins, dura's, i feel it would fit the application better and still be weird....
Because Americans can’t think of anything else then American junk
@@martinandersson5278 im an American mechanic and im the one that thought of it
As an onlooker all I can think is - thank you for posting such an authentic video! I grew up in Security and ever since my first hike up Barr Trail to the summit (1974) to watch racers like you I love watching race teams compete on the mountain. Thanks again for what you do!
Absolutely crazy guys..Can't wait to see you smash the record!!!!! Awesome doco of sheer determination..
What a legend. Wonderful attitude from Cole and the team.
I remember how i was watching the live stream and laughed with comentators how they said "it sounds strange...gtr but we hear a diesel" and i realized that something more different i never heard and see that my brain wont processed it.. :D but it was a really sad to see that you guys didn't make it to the top...hope for the next year! greetings from the czech republic!
Awesome build get rid of the 6.0 power stroke and put a OM606. That would be cool.
Amazing, next year deffo!!!
AMAZING documentary!!!! Need more of such nicely done!
Heartbreaking to hear her putter out on that corner, but before that ... WHAT A MONSTER!!!! I wish i didn't have to wait a whole year to see chapter 2.
The fact that a guy who's named Cole drives a diesel on pikes peak just makes my day.
Rollin Cole on pikes peak 😂👍

Beautiful video, hope to see you guys breaking the record next time!
Just put in a om606 engine and you can get that hill all day long. Great work.
Better to take 320 cdi engine like Black Smoke Racing.ua-cam.com/video/QXJK4wvvTt8/v-deo.html

Fantastic video
40 mins just flew by… cheers for next year fella’s!
Damn guys! What a story!!!! Y’all did a hell of a job documenting this. Cole 2023 FTW!!
Awesome stuff guys! As a big 6.0 enthusiast and local to PPIHC, great to see you guys out here to break the diesel record with a 6.0! Also if you guys ever need last minute 6.0 parts while your at here next year, holler I have a ton of spare 6.0’s and extra parts. Can’t wait to see the Frank 6.0 next year!
It seems like all fans of the PS 6.0 have a ton of spares.
I was confused when they said they had another engine, then proceeded to build Up a separate engine, with apparently different length pushrods? Having a back up engine normally means it’s ready to go, not a block and components that needs to be assembled at 2 AM while experimenting with seemingly random changes. The oil system modifications makes sense, but whose bright idea was it to change the pushrod length to the point where the engine wouldn’t even make compression?
Anyways, impressive work all around in spite of the confusing aspects. Why such a short time to get things ready? Maybe they just got the idea to compete in pikes Peak a few weeks before the event? With all that stress, rushed and exhausted crew, I would have waited till next year and done it with plenty of practice and confidence. Also a few miles on the odometer/racetrack so you know it’s reliable?
That’s probably why I’m not setting any records LOL
I’m not at the end of the video yet, maybe they just had such a crazy and great idea that they win in spite of all the hardships. Can’t wait to find out! If they don’t do it this year, I’m excited to see what happens next year.
Yeah. I've been in that situation before, only with race boats. There is no substitute for getting the build done about a month before the event, and having time to work out the bugs. Don't try to build the fastest machine possible the first time out. Just build something that will go the distance.
Wow.... What a video.. Congrats to the team, what a beautiful piece of machinery. Next year is your year and the fan base for this team will be huge!
I can't wait to 👀 you all break the RECORD! Great story and some Dreams can come true!
I was so hurt when the car broke then I remembered they used a 6.0 … good times
I was specifically searching for this comment
@@hchelfman so was I. Yes, I know people can make good power with them with enough money, but who chooses that for a hill climb or for anything for that matter
Lesson learned... never use a powerstroke to set records😁 Why didn't you use a 6000 rpm Banks Duramax instead? Pretty much proven technology.
I see a movie in the making, nice story line, and I'm already itching for part two.... nice work and determination 💪

Such an awesome film! Evoked emotion from me which is rare these days. The fact that you made it to the start line, after all the obstacles set before you leading up to that, is a testament to what you guys are made of. Truly inspiring to say the least.
@Karl with a K what makes you so sure they add nothing to society and have no consideration for others? Seems a little based on a bias against rich guys who have expensive hobbies.
@Karl with a K How do you know they do not contribute to society? My guess is they contribute a lot more than you think - just not in the public eye. Your generalization exposes your ignorance.
