@Jamie McCallum Actually it's not that rare for a band to play a (few) song(s) more than once, especially on encore, and if you search for some others Discharge's lives/bootleg you'll see this with some frequence.
@@Oi325 yup it can't get any better than Cal. Wish he'd return to the band but I heard he wanted the band to make many changes with their sound making it diverse. The punks just want original Discharge sound and nothing different. Personally I don't mind the different sounds Discharge went through
The members of Gauze and Death Side, who were the opening acts at the time, were outraged by Discharge's arrogant attitude. Before Gauze began to play, he asked, "What do you think of Discharge coming to Japan like a rock star?" Death Side spat out "What the hell is Discharge, you idiot?" during the performance, and the Vo left without even looking at the audience during the last song.

Discharge tried to be glam metal and Cal wanted to go the Led Zeppelin route. The original set up left because it was an embarrassment. Just seeing Cal prance around is cringe but it’s because he had a love affair with crappy glam metal.
so who is in the band ere apart from Cal ? , NO Bones or Tezz or Rainy ???...is it Gary M on drums ?? , Go n check out Discharge at Hellfest 2022 the Real deal in my opinion , i do like this too thou !!
@elizacoleman5901 Did you like the shows or how the band "sounded"? Do you have any ticket stubs or memorabilia from these shows? If so, I want to hear from you. :)
I had no idea Cal had returned to playing the old stuff with traditional vocals. Wonder where he is now and what he's doing. Has he just stopped doing anything musically now?
He didn’t want to tour anymore from what I understand. Fair play to him; he did his time and more, since the age of 17. I can understand him, he gave it his all, reunited and evolved the band, and he’s entitled to his life back. Touring is hard; you’re away from your family and bills still have to be paid, and touring certainly takes its toll on you…the physical strain, huge expense and often little or no reward.
@@GraemeSmith-kd5eb In '91 I was 22, and then as now, I could care less what the bands I would go see chose to wear on stage for fashion and haircuts. Vegan Docs huh? 😆 🤣 😂 So you were a body odor-reeking unemployable peace punk in Rudimentary Peni shirts and ridiculous hairstyles with a stack of dole stubs 3" tall on your dresser and a daily agenda comprised of hanging out downtown with the rest of the fashion punks trying to look hard in your shmohawks and liberty spikes. Your emphasis on clothing in both your posts clearly demonstrates you were overly concerned with the lamest element of punk rock: the supposed uniform. What kind of man gives two craps about another man's pants and hairstyle? Some of the most subversive, heavy, dangerous, and scary people I ever came across in the punk scene NEVER wore the uniform and were indistinguishable from your average Joe on the street: Ted Falconi and Bruce Loose from Flipper. It sounds good and the lineup made 2 good albums, more than just the standard hardcore regurgitated over and over again. Andy Green is great on guitar.
@TransSpewMan Yeah my comment was for the the original post not you. Thanks for letting me know that punk bands started crossing over to metal in the mid 80's. I may be pushing 60 but my memory isn't so bad that I forgot all that. I was in the middle of it. My comment was about Discharge's all-time low point: the release of, and tour for Grave New World in which their attempt at hair metal (including Cal switching to a ridiculous histrionic falsetto) got them booed off the stage at every U.S. gig. Search Discharge at the Farm in SF on UA-cam to hear it for yourself. It's both hilarious and pathetic. The crowd starts chanting for DRI and then switches to "F*ck You". On several dates that tour Discharge had to run off stage when the crowd got physically hostile. The promo photos from the Grave New World era remain some of the funniest in the annals of rock and roll. They look like they are wearing hair metal Halloween costumes with the most ridiculously overdone teased hair. That record remains the absolute worst example of the mid-eighties trend by punk bands to embrace metal. The great records born out of that trend remain some of my favorites still nearly 40 years later: Verbal Abuse "Rocks Your Liver", DRI "Dealing With It", Beyond Possession "Is Beyond Possession", Dr. Know "This Island Earth", Straw Dogs (the FU's) "We Are Not Amused", Gang Green "Another Wasted Night", COC "Animosity". You bought GNW when it came out? Guns 'n Wankers? Whatever happened to them? Also, "almost every punk band went metal in the 80's". Really? Agent Orange? Youth Brigade? 7 Seconds? The Adicts? The Dickies? The Ramones? Descendents? Husker Du? Fugazi? Dag Nasty? JFA? Cocksparrer? Social Distortion? Bad Religion? Angry Samoans? Naked Raygun? I can go on and on...saying "almost every punk band went metal" is a bit of an exaggeration.

"A natural progression with funky undertones." K. Morris. 1991
That guitar tone is just incredible sounding on many of the songs, especially Never Again.
Yeah I wonder what amp he’s got for this show.
I was expecting Grave New World sh*t show but this is actually a great set!
This concert from Discharge is really good in my opinion. Japan seemed to have no problem with it at all. "The More I See!" Fucking rocks hard. 🔥🤘
I agree its beautiful

There is nothing wrong with this Discharge, the 86 Discharge is another matter. You cannot beat Bones on guitar, though this is good whoever he is.
Andy Green on guitar
They should release "Massacre Divine" or "Shootin Up The World" instead of "Grave New World" in 1986 and things would be OK :) Decent tight set!
