Die Death Metal-Urgesteine aus Birmingham sind nicht aus dem Metal-Kosmos wegzudenken. Seit 1989 sind Benediction unterwegs und vermitteln immer noch dieselbe Spielfreude und Authentizität, die sie am Anfang hatten.
1989 gegründet, veröffentlichen Benediction schon im Folgejahr ihr Debüt "Subconscious Terror" beim deutschen Metal-Label Nuclear Blast. Als wäre das nicht genug, kommt zeitgleich eine auf 3.800 Stück limitierte Split-EP mit den nicht minder legendären österreichischen Kollegen von Pungent Stench heraus. Bandgründer und Sänger Barney Greenway ist bei der Tour rund ums erste Album schon nicht mehr dabei, denn Napalm Death bitten ihn um die Nachfolge von Lee Dorrian - und da sagt man offensichtlich nicht nein.
1991 touren Benediction mit ihrem zweiten Album erstmals als Headliner durch ganz Europa. 1993 veröffentlicht die Band nach einigen Besetzungswechseln ihr erfolgreichstes Album "Transcend The Rubicon". 1995 folgt eine Headliner-Tour bei den Nuclear Blast-Festivals und 1998 der erste Auftritt beim Wacken Open Air. Trotz des großen Erfolgs kommen und gehen Bandmitglieder immer wieder: Sänger Dave Ingram wechselt 1998 zu Bolt Thrower und Dave Hunt singt das sechste Album "Organised Chaos" ein, das durchaus das Motto der Band sein könnte, die mittlerweile eine zweistellige Zahl an Besetzungswechseln überlebt hat.
Anfang der Nullerjahre ist es einige Zeit still um Benediction, da sie zeitweise ganz ohne Drummer sind. Inzwischen sind sowohl Drummer Neil Hutton als auch Sänger Dave Ingram wieder dabei, und Benediction lassen es krachen wie eh und je.

@@Sean-fv4wi That's why I stare at it so much.. my youth on hard rock and thrash metal and today I listen to everything of high quality, including classics.. I really missed this somehow in awareness. But I'm not lazy to expand my horizons, so I'm going to explore it now.
So that's excellent.. I like some certainty and I don't like groups that evolve too much and play something completely different after five years.. let alone after thirty years.
