Decoding Master 1534D

Decoding a Master 1534D. Probably the most challenging combo lock I've gotten open, however there is still major room for improvement as it is relatively easy to get open

Nice decoding!
Kind of a cool lock.
On shimming usually the locks that have the ball barring that holds the shackle can’t be shimmed.
The ones with the somewhat square cutout can be shimmed if the tolerances are not tight

Nicely done, that's really clever to use a padlock in a vise so you have something to lock the combo lock too. I'll have to ry that.

Yeah I figured I might as well put that piece of junk to use somehow haha. It really helps to lock this combo lock onto something, trying to get it just in your hands just doesn't give the same feedback. Let me know how it goes!

I have two of these that are open and not left on the code. Can you tell me how to close it so I can break the code opening it? I tried pushing down on the hasp and using your method - in reverse as it were, but no luck. ?

I have a Syneco combo lock like this and yes these can be a little harder in my opinion.
I could not shim mine. I think it is a ball bearing.

Yeah I looked in there and it appears to be a ball bearing, so that's pretty good at least

False gates are definitely a must for combo locks - this one seems to be pretty easy. Try with more more tension if the binding wheel refuses to become obvious. At least the lock has 5 wheels ;-) Cheers and thanks for the entertainment.

Well, you can't expect too much from a Master Lock.
BTW, why does each wheel have two protruding knobs? Usually, you only see one, if the wheels have any at all.

I think it just makes it easier to grab the wheels because now there's two places where they can be grabbed by a protrusion. So instead of having to potentially reach around somewhere more difficult for one, you can just grab the second

Put it back together Show us how to reset the lock you almost showed us completely but didn’t fully put it back together

I really just have to yank it, I try to jiggle it back and forth to help it off
