    To be clear the DeWalt D24000 has a much higher build quality and in my opinion is worth the extra cost. It's just too heavy for my needs. I can get the same cut quality from the RIDGID but wouldn't expect it to last as long with everyday use. My RIDGID has 1/16 of tray play off the rail. The DeWalt D24000 I reviewed had 1/32'' of play off rail. If that worsens it's adjustable on both saws.

      I agree, the dewalt is a better saw. Guess which one I usually grab? The small, light rigid :) its two years old ( got it around the time they updated it) and still running strong. I don’t use the laser so I have no idea if it works. Good power, we’ll see how long that lasts. My tray has no side to side play and if you push it straight the cuts are dead accurate. Only problem so far is the pump (And I’ve seen this on a few of them). I won’t prime itself often but I figured out if you pull the hose off it can get going and when the hose goes back on it’s fine

      I have the original version of this saw, been using almost everyday for 3 and a half years now and its still going strong (we abuse it pretty good too). I mark my cuts with lines, always have, so accuracy is not a problem. Mostly everything I cut is high grade porcelain flooring tile.

    Just used this to do a pretty crazy limestone geometric backsplash with some 22.5 degree miters. It worked great. It probably wouldn't hold up to everyday use, but works well for the occasional project. The fact that it pivots for miter cuts and is fairly inexpensive is exactly what I needed.

    I bought one a month ago for home improvement needs and it has worked out perfectly fine actually better than expected. Although I do think the tiny pump does need an upgrade but laser guide is such an added benefit, really helped me not to make wasteful cuts.

      Not sure how you set your pump up, but use a bucket full of water off to the side of the table... the pump can be mounted to the bottom of the bucket with the suction cups and it will last forever and pumps great.

    I recently bought this saw and like you said it's a great saw for someone that occasionally does tile, I plan on making some modifications like first using some spray on bedliner to coat the table to make it more vibration resistant and give it some grip on the tile, the small amount of play in the table isn't a deal breaker for me considering my last saw was a harbor freight one and had massive play even while all wheels were engaged, besides that I'll maybe upgrade the pump already did that to my old saw so can use that old pump as a backup in case this one breaks.

    I bought one of these last night. I got it all put together before I noticed the drain spout was broke off. It was laying in a place that looked like it broke off at the factory and they just tossed it in the box. What really sucks is I needed to use it that night. Hopefully I can super glue it or plug the hole so I can get some work done before I return it or try to get a new tray. I was hoping this saw would not have much chipping on the porcelain tile but looks like it does in your video. Would it help if I bought a different blade? Thanks.

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  3 роки тому +1

      I bought the $40 RIDGID blade and it cuts the same as the stock blade, which cuts the same as the $60 10”” DeWalt porcelain blade. There are more expensive blades I haven’t tried. My guess is they all give a ragged edge on porcelain. Just a guess.

    Can this cut 18x18" porcelain tiles diagonally, which would be a 25" cut? The reason I ask is because the description on Home Depots website shows "Best in class cut capacity 24 in. rip, 18 in. diagonal and 2-1/4 in. depth"...I don't know if that means it can cut 18x18 tiles diagonally..or if it can only do up to 18" on a diagonal cut.

I cut a thin piece of toe kick I had laying around and put a piece under the left and rights sides of the tile.
