    Extremely useful, always nice to get a simple, proper instruction. Enabled me to remove pump, clean out the detritus binding the impeller and replace in a few minutes. Thank you.

    Excellent video!! My dishwasher has not been draining for a couple of weeks now, and I finally scheduled to have a service company come to diagnose my issue. Fortunately, they were not able to come until next week. I followed the steps in this video and discovered that there was a small piece of plastic that had made its way to the pump. Cleaned out the pump and reassembled. Just washed my first load of dishes, and it is working great! Thank you for the easy to follow video!

    very good VIDEO. Our dishwasher would not drain and I could not find any debris blocking the impeller, when I checked from the inside. So I was ready to replace the pump. When I removed it a piece of mussel shell fell out. Put the pump back in and it worked.

    Thank you so much for this video. I had unscrewed everything *but* the front door and access panel...I had it on it's side, was ready to disassemble the whole thing before I saw this. They mad the replaceable parts easy to access! Imagine that!

    This video helped me replace my drain pump easily! I found it easier to just unplug the dishwasher than shut off power at the fuse box though.

      @kakasvk 4 роки тому +1

      Sometimes, for people with built-in dishwashwers, unplugging is not that easy to access so it's easier to shut the fuses off for them.

    I had a repair person scheduled to come the next day and watched this video and was able to fix the problem myself (my Bosch was a bit of a different design but some concept applied). Some how a thin rubber band was wound around the impeller in the pump. I hooked things back up and it worked! Thanks!

    Thanks for this. I pulled out the pump, and discovered a small round piece of plastic that was clearly stopping the impellers from turning. Looked like seal from a bottle lid. Not sure how it got there, but now it’s gone the machine seems to work great again!

    THank you for the video. I have been pouring over schematics for hours and couldn't figure out where to get into the dishwasher to repair it (the bottom pan is a giant solid piece with so many other parts attached!). I think I can get at our drain pump as shown in the video.

    I have an SHE45M. No disposal, no air gap. I used the dishwasher for six years, then left one inch of water in the basin. The repairman said it works fine, it's the plumbing drain. The plumber cut the Johnson Tee fitting and augered both directions, poured in enzymes and re-soldered. Condition unchanged. Plumber said the pump's not strong enough. I pulled the dishwasher out far enough to run the drain hose over a five foot stool and drained into the sink. An empty load worked and a full load both drained. I called Bosch and talked to a tech. He said with the Johnson Tee fitting, if the 1/2" copper pipe wasn't perfectly clean, it wouldn't pump all the water high enough. The Bosch tech said the best solution would be to run the drain hose to the sink drain. The wall vent I found had been broken in the middle from twenty or more years ago. This provided a view into the Johnson Tee fitting. There was water comming down, but not very much. I went to the plumbing store and told him the story. He said to make the drain change per code, I would have to install an air gap. I alredy have two things coming up through my sink flange corners. That no one was taking ownership. That it would be quite a bit of work and money and maybe not even help. That the pump would be 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the dishwasher. He recomended a parts store nearby. I told them the whole story. I received the part. I opened the box and there's a tip sheet on the pump replacement. "9-vane drain pump 167082 is no longer available, having been replaced by 642239." Then it says how to change the connector. The 642239 is what's in the box. The page bottom goes on to say "The same procedure is used to adapt 4-vane replacement drain pump 607468 to replace 4-vane drain pump 184178. These pumps are used in Washington State in homes with Johnson Tee fittings." That's my state. The Bosch tech apparently didn't know about the 607468.
    Still have to exchange it. After watching the Repair Clinic video, I know how to replace it. I'll tell if it fixed it.

    My Bosch just starting humming and vibrating pretty loud while draining in the past week or so. Do you think this is the part I would need to fix the extra noise? Also, my Bosch isn't as quiet as I feel it should be so what would be your recommendation? It has a very low hum that is noticeable from 20 feet away during the wash cycle. It used to be so quiet I couldn't tell it was running. Thanks.

    I was repairing the heater assembly, so I had to take off this drain pump. After re-assembling, it is leaking at the drain pump connection. There appears to be 2 o-rings as part of the assembly. Can these be purchased separately? I looked and can't find them. Thanks.

    I will be replacing the pump on my Bosch Model#SHE4AM16UC/01. The machine is leaving about 1" of water (1 quart approx.) in the tube after the cycle.
    I thought it may be the check valve, but I wasn't able to find one. I called Bosch and was told by two people that there was no check valve in the machine. When I removed the pump in preparation for pump replacement, I did indeed find a check valve in the exit pipe just beyond where the pump is. It looked like the check valve was pointing towards the pump, so I adjusted the cv straight up and down, put back together and ran a cycle. All the water drained out. I ran it through a cycle again to make sure still draining, but then ended up with same water level still being left in the tub.
    Did some research and found what looked like to be my check valve, part #611320. I called Bosch, and they say, yes, that is for my machine. So I ordered the check valve and will replace both cv and the pump.
    Now for my question...how do I remove that type of check valve from the pipe. It is the cylindrical type that fits in the pipe, with a flapper in it.
    Much appreciate any help in removing the old check valve.

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  9 років тому

      john smith We will start by saying dishwashers leave water inside the tub to help prevent seals from drying a cracking. With hat said, we do not have a picture of that part so cannot say exactly how it comes out. Based on where it is we would say the hose simply pulls out and the valve has a locking tab or fits into the modeled housing. When you see the actual part perhaps it will be self explanatory like it will have threads.

    My dishwasher was making a noise before closing the door. I did everything in the video to remove the pump and I found a huge pool of water in the tray. I'm emptied the tray and replaced the original pump. I assembled everything and turned on the dishwasher. Now it's making a noise without filling with water. Could I have touched something underneath to have cause this?

  • @geotuckvideos
    @geotuckvideos 10 років тому

    The how to video was great except one thing, it failed to mention to vacuum out any water that may have leaked onto the bottom tray below the drain pump motor. There is a float switch at the very bottom of the tray that will not allow water to fill the dishwasher & the drain pump will stay on constantly if the float switch is raised due to water in the tray.

    Repair clinic, I pulled the drain pump, checked continuity, all good, but dishwasher still doesn't drain. Checked all lines for blocks - none. Is there a way to ensure the drain pump is working, besides checking resistance? The dishwasher has a low drone sound coming from it... thx :)

      ended up getting a tech in to check it. We ended up buying a new drain pump, but i think that the tech pulled out of garbage in the lines. I don't think it was the pump that was causing the issue.
