G'day back at ya
Selling your soul for gacha garbage, either you're a liar or you have shit taste.
Hey Samus. A question that isn't relevant to the triggers. Is the wideboard of the A21 is more/less convenient than the A longboard? I'm sure its a preference thing, but would be happy to hear your opinion. Thank you
I’m so glad you didn’t say which one that were the best, because just like you said, at the end of the day is it all about what works best for yourself. I’ve tried a few of those and have a favourite one, but i’m actually impressed that all of those worked for you! Great video Samus!
You guys are both so fking good drummers
I feel the same for pedal because no pedal is objectively better than one another
Ok with that said for a 1st time trigger search for me what do I go with??
I have school right before this and watching this before just puts me in a good mood🙃
SAMEEEE dude I have to join a meeting in 15 mins
stay safe
@BLOOD ON MY HANDS I'm in it rn
Same
BLOOD ON MY HANDS nice
FootBlasters are made in Italy, it's the same company as PedalTrigger, they just created another product under a different name
Yes I just found this out today haha. But really I just wanted an excuse to say Ding Dong :)
Its not the same company as Pedal Trigger. Depressing to know that most people think this
@@jessebowles5632 I heard different people telling that at the beginning, the contacts on FootBlaster's website were @pedaltrigger.com so I suppose it's the same people.
Also someone remember of seeing a PedalTrigger prototype that was basically the footblaster, they never made it under the PedalTrigger name.
Not a problem for me, I don't care so much until the product is good.
@@danielelewis9303 youre being stupid. Thats like saying Vic Firth and Vater are basically the same company because they sell Wood Drum sticks from New England
Different company, same product, same area, so it must be the same company
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 what a clown
@@_.Trojan._ make me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 "decent drummer" and doesn't even have any videos
Anybody else notice that he curls his baby toe when he blasts?⚡💥🔥
Al 🤣
I curl my whole foot when doing fast double bass lmao..
Why did I...? I'm a bass player and I can't play the drums to save my life... What do I care? And I watched the whole thing... Even the Raid commercial...
same here
Wow, same here. What does that say about us bass players?
@@jasonbuck5256 well... For myself I can say that I'm a gear whore and this might just be a symptom of that... 😅 I'm usually the one in the bands I play in with the most knowledge about gear... Guitar amps, drums, vocal mics etc...
I play guitar ,watch all the vids ......& don’t have the foggiest what drum triggers even are ........& still liked the video😂👍
Hey 66Samus, the part of the video where you are playing just made my bass drum playing 200% better by just watching your feet. I finally got double strokes down properly. For some reason this particular angle of your feet and your technique sparked my brain somehow and I just went on my practice kit and could do it after a few minutes. I've watched several videos of people explaining double strokes but it never did it for me. Thanks!
I don't play drums,
I don't use triggers, but this was interesting and informative. Thanks for the content. Ohhh yurrrrrr
Dem precision kicks
Thanks this was incredibly helpful I bought the precision kicks and they work great for me
I've never used the different style of triggers with acoustic pieces on my drum kit before so this is interesting for me. I do love playing drums but I've never been playing drums with triggers and this is worth an education.
Thank you for this video. So helpful
Thumbs up for the Ding Dong, Texas bit there Steven. Lol
Also, thanks again for the Godsmack cover during your Saturday livestream. #ItsGreat!
Best trigger I've used is a Piezo stuck underneath the felt/rubber bit on Iron Cobra type beaters with double sided tape. Thin leads taped onto the beater shaft and wired to connectors. Total cost $5 each.
Holy shit I did this like 5 years ago! It works well.
Yeah, I have one stuck under my Axis pedal, on foam, and struck by another piece of firm phone. Still need to see how it holds up but no issues so far.
champion! \m/
could you elaborate how you did it I'm interested to try it out on my own pedals since my electric drum pad doesn't trigger accurately at all
Thats a great idea! Does it work well?
Excellent review. Amazing bass drum technique... holy cow. I’d love to be able to play double kicks 1/5th as good as you sir. As for best trigger. They all appeared to play as good as each other, giving best settings adjusted for each one. The spare sensor would be a seller for me though! Cost and shipping to where the buyer is would also be a huge factor.
I’ve had more trouble with kick triggers than any other equipment. Awesome video!
I dont even personally like triggering bass drums/pedals, but I was super excited for this video for some reason.
Just purchased On-Trigger(was going for Footblasters 1st until someone recommended otherwise his reaction is also in this comment section XD). Happy you didn't made me regret my choice. Was not aware of the Precision Kicks, they seem pretty nice aswell ^^
Precision Kicks have been killer.
I've been using Precision Kicks for quite a while and beta tested models and guided development. Chris who makes them is a friend. Friend aside, these are awesome triggers, he really got beta units tested by a lot of drummers in Melbourne and came up with a great final product. OHH YUUUURRR!!!!!
Thankyou for this !!!!!!!!
Wow... you can really blast.
Yes, going with my local boys at Precision Kicks. Thanks mate.
Been using the On Triggers for almost a year and LOVE them.
Hi, are you still using the OnTriggers and if so are they holding up and can they handle very high heel toe hits? Thanks Philip
Damn, such tight drumming!
That kind of metalic tic tic system are pretty smart, so no double rebond with that im using a ddrum chrome elite plug on to yamaha electronic kicker with a Roland TM 6 pro, but the axis system could be interesting for me.
I chose the cheap version of these triggers. I grabbed two piezo guitar pickups for $9 (piezo on a mono socket), two metal brackets and a bit of foam packaging material + double sided and foam tape. Basically because I wanted to trigger the two bass drum notes from my sexy, sweet SD3 sound libs! Until now I used the ATV 13" kick pad, which is still there to kick into.
These system works surprisingly well. Really, its way more sensitive than the ATV pad, and so I got more re- and double triggers because of the bury beaters thing :-).
I put a picture in my Community section.
Thanks for that review!
I used to use a ddrum trigger on my bass drum. I remember a small showed we played, the bassists amp was close to the kit and I was misfiring like crazy. I always keep sensitivity lower than I want now
ps: Zebra, is a Horse with Corpse Paint.
Chode gobblers, love it!
I'd have to go for OnTriggers. Mostly because of how easy it is to fix them and the fact that they don't cost that much. Also Alex Rudinger has his own custom OnTrigger that the cable strapped to the side of it, does make the trigger wider but gets the long cable out of the way.
I've been waiting for this video for ten years.
good vid on the various models :) i personally dont use the pedal-mounted triggers, i use the roland RT-30 series, purely as i have a variety of kits and pedals i use. but for those who stick with the one brand of pedal, all of these are good options! :)
Amazing, prime content
I think the last one seemed the best, because 1) no hanging cable 2) easiest adjustment 3) velcro. But they all seemed so similar in functionality, that I would probably get the cheapest ones of the bunch :D
Once I do acquire a drumset, those Precision Kicks will certainly come in handy. I dig the stealthy, compact look & the fact that it's velcro. 🙂👍
Foot Blaster with Czarcie Kopyto = LOVE
The way you segued into Raid Shadow legends was hilarious
The big plus with these is that you don’t need to stuff/over-tighten the bass drum so you can retain your mic’d kick sound and blend the two together 😎
I use On Triggers my self, and I am quite impressed with their product.
same here
9:06 You could prob just buy velcro and use that with any of the other triggers as well. Instead of tape.
Yes
If you haven’t already, could you please do a tutorial on your doubles technique? Thanks!
Samus, great video & exploration of the diff't equipment! Thank you. #DingDongTX4Life
Gravy Strainer is looking nice!
🤘😂 damn scared meh 😂🤣😂🤣
love your videos samus THUMBS UUUUUUP!!! BOING!!!
Hey Samus, do a video that shows what the naked bass drums really sound like without triggers as compared to with, during double stroke vs single stroke blasting....
I love you man.
I'm curious if it would be feasible to use velcro tabs on any of these that don't have them. I mean, they have the adhesive - just add the velcro, right?
I'm really intrigued by these as a concept, especially the Axis ones (not only because, oh yurr, Axis, but also because they seem to be the most versatile. It really never occurred to me to use the pedalboard as a triggering point.
The real missing link here is a triggering system that allows you to keep the ol' foot down. I don't think that will ever be possible, but a bahee can dream, m'yah?
So the best of the rest as it were
I've owned all these types of triggers and the problem with pedalboard mounted triggers is that if your pedal setting slip or the trigger itself, then you're crawling on all fours trying to diagnose the issue. You'll be wondering where the misfires are coming from, i prefer my roland rim mounted trigger
Been watching your vids wishing there were more drummers like you near my hometown in Missouri. Been a metal guitarist for about 25 years and it's incredibly difficult, if not impossible to find decent drummers here. It's a bummer!
Check out the new metalcore band Message From A Raven! They're from Missouri and drummer is legit! ua-cam.com/video/7cLxvPNlR9E/v-deo.html
I live for the welcoming phrase of every video. lol
Which ones do you use?! And where can I find em? I'm struggling with volume levels past 220 bpm so Im looking into triggers. Help please?!
I bought the foot blasters and I found an issue that is probably common with all of them. And that's mainly anyone who plays uses a double pedal, if you bury your beater, it is possible to trigger the the buried pedal when kicking with the other. That's mainly dependent on the tightness of your bass drum head too.
Thanks for this info! I almost got these!
I would like you to do a nice blast beat improvisation on Mussorgsky - Night on bald mountain.
0:04 Genaral Kenobi!
Any thoughts on the build quality and durability of the triggers, Samus?
Hi! Thank you for the video! I want to ask a question which is not shown in the video. We moved our double pedals to the gigs a lot. Normally the left pedal would fall down after take off the shaft. So would the pedal bend the trigger during travel that you have to adjust it before every gig?
"Chode gobblers"? I'm triggered.
Do you recommend certain triggers with mesh heads for converting a bass drum to electronic
Hi @66Samus ,
I was wondering if you can tell me what kind of cables are used to plug in the footblaster triggers, mine just arrived.
No trigger will ever make me play "Bleed" easily OHH YUUUR
I mean you can remove the double sided tape from all of them and use velco instead...
Can you do like a shootout? Like put all the triggers you have on at the same time or most of them, and then play the same part. Like put roland one on the head, ddrum chrome or red whichever you have or both, the axis ones on pedal the other axis ones that are on the back of the hanger, and maybe one or two of the other, so we can hear exactly how well they track for each part?
Those aussie ones seem really cool but they are 3d printed from biodegradable plastic so I question how long they will last. The axis ones seem killer only they are sold out.
i think new people think sam doesnt play raid shadow legends but he does he is bool
Have you tried triggers (bass drum and otherwise) that are centered instead of rim mounted? two companies I know of are Wronka and Jobeky.
Bahee time!
Precision Kicks or the Axis e3’s
So I learned something about drums I didn't know. I'm not a drummer, I love drums, would love to learn but its pretty expensive and my neighbors would hate me (I know I could get an electronic set).
I didn't know there was anything like drum triggers, I didn't know what they were so I had to look it up and watch an earlier video "how to trigger drums without triggers" to find out.
While reading I was like (why would a metal drummer want to use these)? Then in the that was answered in the "how to trugger drums without triggers" video. Not to make your snare hits sound like a hand-clap (an example Widipedia gave...which is lame) but to enhance the sound. Not being a drummer I never though that drums had to be tuned, I guess if I put thought into it it would make sense, but never did. So if your drums aren't in tune, you can make them sound right, or more bassy or whatever. Now it makes sense, because sampling drums to sound like something different doesn't sound metal, it sounds hip-hop.
Now the question I have (and not even knowing if this was a thing back then) is did Lars use triggers (or software) to make that crappy tom sound on St. Anger or did he tune his tom like that?
What sort of samples do you use for your bass drum triggers..... It sounds fuckin awesome ob yeeeeerrrrrr
OMG... I always thought the bass drum triggers were attached to the heads! Learn something new everyday!
they are usually, but these days for live shows where you have ~8 minute changeovers, fucking around with the head attachment and different bassdrum depths can be a nightmare.. or drummers who use the stupid sound deadening foam hoops around the bass drum head so you can't get your trigger on..
I am kind of curious. How thick is the footblaster metal plates? I thought they were more flexible/thinner. Are they noisy when the pedal hits them?
Tabarnak man !!
I had the precision kicks just over a year and one crapped out. No longer covered by warranty They offered a 50% discount for one and return shipping. The triggers feel cheap light plastic with thin wiring. The Velcro locks in nicely. If I could go back Id get the Axis ones. This message would have helped me before buying. I hope it helps you. Cheers!
why the axis ones? those are the ones i am considering the least. also thank you, i am taking your experience into consideration for sure
Yeeeey, Czech Rep. my home ;) Greetings from there!
man ive watch this video countless time to decide which is fot me...
just want to ask you sre you using only one module..?
and are the setting youre using is the same one on every trigger..?
thanks in advance...
Samus you think the triggers that go on the pedals are better than the ones that go on the kick head?
Hi, I have the pedal trigger kit you mentioned. Had a really bad experience with them as they sent me the wrong ones and customer service is apparently none existent! I digress. I'm using a dm5 drum module. Is the dm5 actually capable of these faster speeds? I've tried literally every setting I can and just can't get consistent results. It's to the point where I can drumagog my bass drum and get cleaner triggering which surely isn't right. Is a better drum module going to change anything do you think? Cheers.
Isn't foot blaster a kink ? Best name though ? During Raid Shadow Legends ad...
I am not a drummer (yet?), but am quite good at air drumming so here I am :) I didn't know about triggers. Are these to be used instead of the "analogic" drum kick? If yes, why so? To go faster? Thanks to anyone willing to explain.
If they are all equally great, and you can't decide which are the best in quality and etc, then the only criteria left is the price.
You have more of a Weird Al vibe in this video more than usual. 👍 not a bad thing
Damn I actually wanted to see a video on pedal triggers haha was gonna get some for my trick dominatiors cause I recently got a double bass kit and sound guys hate double bass kits I guess
This is true lol. I've been playing my double bass kit since 09' and last year I became a sound guy as well 😂😂 ironic af. Only reason I can think that most sound guys would hate it is the consistency (or rather INconsistency) between both of the tunings. OR if it's a small venue, they might have limited channels on their board, so they rather not use a channel on something that feels "redundant". Cuz otherwise, it's not hard to just grab another mic, stand, and cable and hook'em up to a snake lol.
so looks like the e3 are not avaible anymore and also more than all the other triggers listed. The ones you didnt review the pedal triggerst seem to be the easiest to install/uninstall and dont require glue/tape/velcrow while also being cheaper with shipping to the US then all the brands listed. That said it attaches to the top of the cam area near the beater mount. I wonder if that added item would throw off the weight of the pedal at all? Foot blasters seem decent
All of them are great but gimme those On Triggers😁
Cuáles te parecieron más precisos?
1. On Trigger Gen.3 $149 (a pair)
Alex Rüdinger Signature $156 (a pair)This have a compartment on the side to insert the connector, no need for ties.
2. Axis E3 $149 (no clear info. about been a pair) Now is out of stock.
3. Foot Blasters $186 (a pair)
4. Precision Kicks (converted from AUD to USD) $151.48 a pair, whole black color, also have a spare trigger sensor.
$171.33 (a pair) for Head and body color to be customized separated (black, white, red, blue, purple orange and green)
All types of options available for your needs and budget. 🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻
and my favorites are still the axis e-kits. hahaha!
@@66Samus I'm agree with you, specially the easy way to set it without bending anything, but it's price seems to be for a single piece. Adding $7 dollars to that price you get the pair of On Trigger Alex Rüdinger and for the other $149 saved you are close to get the Ez Drumme 3 😉. Is all about the best route to get what's needed and carry on. But you're right, the best design idea is Axis but I'll take a point to them if they are plastic.
Hey Joey,
Thought it might be worth mentioning the pricing you have for the PKs is in AUD not USD, so they're actually $150USD.
Cheers,
Chris/ Monolith Studios/ Precision Kicks
@@66Samus I forgot to ask you if the price they have is for the pair or individual? Looks like the 2nd option, but wanted to be sure.
@@MonolithStudiosMelbourne Thanks, I did all the changes.
What triggermodul setups you use for the Pedal triggers?
Aliens casually dominating the human race.
Samus66:Here is drum knowledge
Do these work for my Sonor twin fx? or will I need 4? :D:DDDD
@66Samus, what is the allure of having a drum trigger that takes contact vs. one that doesn't? It seems that these triggers are necessarily prone to damage because of the contact, whereas triggers that attach to the bass drum head itself would never have that liability.
I just don't understand why one would make the switch?
Kyle Barrington these triggers are leaps and bounds more accurate and less prone to miss firing etc etc
Hi samus you are not using your ddrum triggers system anymore ?
DO A VIDEO ON DOUBLES
Man I purchased pearl demon drives and I am regretting not checking out the axis pedals at all
Damn your like amazing garth
What does your kit sound like with out triggers does it sound lame 😒 or cool 😎
I think the ontrigger will go great with my new tama dyna sync pedals. Now i just need around 350 euro.
How much did you get 4 the raidshadow legends add🌚
I really stopped the video to check it Dingdong, TX was a real city 😂😂😂
