Back in the Lich King days we came up with a good starting idea for the Forsaken.
You start as a human, a generic human similar to your created undead character.
You and a few refugees are escaping from the Scourge on a wagon, or more.
The refugees talk about Prince Arthas returning and killing his father.
Some talk about the Agamand family holding back the Scourge but you eventually decide to go to Deathknell (or whatever it was called before) because it has walls.
The area is not that dead yet.
Maybe you fend off a small group of undead ambushers before moving past the gates.
Inside there are refugees and militia holding out.
You are welcome as an able "class" and are tasked to help the important people.
The blacksmith send you to the nearby mine to deliver back iron for weapons.
The cook to slay some animals to feed the refugees.
The medic to do some medic stuff.
Then the leader of the militia asks for your aid at the gates.
Undead eventually enter the area and you die as the survivors retreat back to the village.
A deathknight (less important than Arthas) enters on his epic skeleton horse and resurrects the dead around the gate.
Now you are undead with a buff like "Will of the Lich King" (you cannot disobey the Lich King) and all undead are friendly, and the humans hostile.
The deathknight was tasked to clear this area and doesn't have a huge army (that would be boring) and he tasks you with crippling the refugees in the village for the final assault.
That includes:
Putting spider eggs or bringing a spider queen to the mine.
Infecting the food supplies,
Raising the dead inside their infirmary to aid you from inside. (with a quest item)
During these quests you also have to kill the people you helped before. The blacksmith, the cook and the medic. This gives you reason to hate the Lich King.
Then the other undead attack from outside and you from the inside.
You now kill some militia and the leader retreats to the graveyard with a few men.
You follow and eventually face him in a crypt.
Without any hope of escaping he collapses the crypt on you. You need to remain here for a time and you can't die again just yet so being under rubble is not lorebreaking.
Here a short cutscene tells you how Sylvanas freed the undead and created the Forsaken.
And then you are dug out of the rubbles by the present day Forsaken.
Your will is your own once again.
This would be around lvl 5, and the rest of the old zone would have remained the same.
You meet some of the men you have killed before as undead quest givers. The blacksmith, the cook and the medic. They do not blame you.
And somewhere in the region you find traces of the deathknight who did this to you.
Eventually you kill him and find "peace".
And now you can do all the levelling to face the Lich King in the end.
It would have been better than the "bamm you are an undead in a graveyard and there is a guy with a quest" stuff in vanilla. The Catalcysm starting zone however, fits the "new" Azeroth better. Nobody gives a damn about a guy named Arthas anymore.
That idea is awesome. Wish it was implemented :(
This idea is better than wow has now, ALOT BETTER, if people like his comment, mabey nobbel can talk about it.

Its nice story.Problem is that every new undead player starts like this, this means that you have to come up with something not so "special" something that could be repeated. You could be part of some human forces on quest inside undead territory, ect ect ect you get captured , resurected...
This was really good! Reminds me a lot of the Worgen starting zone.

KendrixTermina I've never been the one to like Sylvanas. I've disliked her since WC3. All from her attitude to how she promoted that self centered and childish attitude, at times even throwing tantrum fits. I would have to say that when it comes to female NPC's she is the one I like the least. I'd go as far as saying that removing her from the game with no explanation and replacing her with a cactus would be a cause for a real life smile for me. Maybe I'm not doing a good job of explaining exactly how she makes me feel, but I hope it's enough just saying that I can't stand her.
I guess at the time I can understand why Thrall would be nice to her - To him that was himself not all to long ago. An outcast looking to make a place his home. He could relate. Now, I'm not a big fan of Garrosh (Which shows just how successful Blizz were at making players hate him), but no one could have said anything better then what Garrosh said here. And I'm not talking about the "bitch" part.
At first we are forced to play trough a portion of the campaign with this dead mofo as she swears revenge. Then she becomes the leader of others like herself, those that are now free of control, and without any regard for their... um, unlife, she goes on a crusade. That's not a leader. That's a kid determined to get candy by bitching, moaning and crying. How many times did you see her at the front lines in Vanilla or BC? As many as Thrall? As many as Vol'Jin? Doubt it. If you want revenge that's your thing. Walk that road alone, or at least with those that want the same thing as you, don't disguise what YOU want with what is "best for all of us". That's bullshit. We didn't go to kill the Lich King for revenge. We did it because it was the right thing to do. To us it was a job, a duty. And that includes all the races. This sense of duty was beyond the limitations of what Horde and Alliance stood for. It was simply the right thing to do. To this undead sack of shit it was personal.
After sacrificing many of her new kin she finally gets the revenge she craved. Only to become exactly what she killed. No doubt she remembers how it felt to die and not be able to rest in peace as she was intended to, but have your soul trapped in what now is a dead husk. She called it a curse. She said it was a pain no one could get away from. Yet when it's no longer about HER it's now fine to do to others.
And what a great leader she was huh? It's your own thing if you want to succumb to the darkness you've been hunting and become what you hate. But when others have laid down their lives for your cause and you chose to disrespect those sacrifices and still become what all of you were so hateful of, well, that's pretty much spitting in the face of everyone who believed in you.
Twist it, turn it, flip it, but one thing cannot be denied. A bitch is a bitch and Garrosh nailed it when he called Sylvanas one. My only regret is that he didn't chop her head off and put someone in charge that DID have undeads best in mind while not being a power hungry maniac.
But I guess that'd be to much to ask for.

Im Fluffeh 'fraid not, my dear friend. Been maining a Undead Warrior since late 2004. Not that whatever faction you belong to has anything to do with what you think of a character whos origins aren't even based in WoW.
Lillian is without doubt the most interesting NPC in the forsaken starting areas, glad she is also used later in the questing storyline B-)

My favourite appearances of lillian are the pre-andorhal(area) quests where you find just masses of bodies burning slowly with lillians tell-tale purple burning and your characters reaction is like "Something about this seems oddly familiar..."

It is amazing how you manage to enlighten us with these awesome in depth story lines. It makes the game so much more fun and knowing this storyline now, well I have a much bigger appreciation for her role knowing the near full story of her. Makes me want to redo those quests of hers. Thanks a bunch! :)

For some reason this is one of the most intriguing characters to me, in fact something I don't normally do is I made it a mission to figure this chick out. Great video as always Nobbel. Keep it up

Hey Nobbel87, I found a tantalizing lore scene. In the Escape From Durnhole dungeon, you can go to southshore. In shouthshore, there is an inn in which Tirion and friends hold a secret meeting about the creation of the Ashbringer. It's definitely worth a visit.
That scene is depicting the part of Tirion's story when he wasn't a Knight of the Silver Hand anymore, and is starting the Scarlet Crusade. He got the picture of Kel'Thuzad in human form from that same dungeon, pretty sure he has covered it in the Tirion Story too.
Also there are the later Monastery bosses Sally Whitemane, Renault Mograine, Interrogator Vishas and Herod the Scarlet Champion in their child forms playing scenes from their future.

I loved those scenes. It was one of the rare occurances when Blizzard did something fun just for us and not for money as it was far from the actual events.
I had no idea Sylvanas killed herself by jumping off ice crown. Where can I read more about this?

Sylvanas is my favorite character in the Warcraft series and I will hate blizz for all eternity if they make and expansion which will make the Dark Lady a Garrosh II.I would rather unsubscribe than to pay blizz to kill the one character I actualy like in WoW

Thanks for the vid Nobbel. I have been thinking about Voss lately, and I agree that it looks like they're setting her up on a collision course with Sylvanus. The Banshee Queen is seriously overstepping her boundaries, to the point where I don't think the Horde can forgive her for what she's done. They should have done something about it during the Battle for Undercity, when they found out what the Apothecaries were up to engineering a new plague. So, it seems obvious to me Sylvanus is going to be a villain, and Voss seems like a really good potential replacement as the undead faction leader, or one of the Banshee Queen's minions in some raid a few expansions from now. I think you hit the nail on the head, but obviously all we can do is wait and see what becomes of her.
I used to really like Sylvanas.
A good deal of forsaken NPCs I've met throughout my years of questing have been shown to be rather twisted and evil.
But I never felt that way with Sylvanas, I felt like she had many redeeming qualities.
Then Cataclysm hit, and I hate to say it, but Sylvanas has become pretty villainous.
"What joy is there in this curse? We are still undead, sister- Still monstrosities. What are we if not slaves to this torment."
I used to believe that Sylvanas would not wish this curse upon anyone, but it seems I was wrong.
Lilian reminds me of how the old Sylvanas was.
She only changed because for her, its eternal torment in either scenario. At least in undeath she has more control of her situation. Though I do have a feeling she will end up going well above and beyond merely trying to survive, taking the offensive in her quest to not go to Azeroth Hell. Of course we see what happens when you actively try to fight against the that which is trying to eliminate you in Warcraft. You end up losing focus on your goal and becoming a threat to your allies. It happened to Illidan, it happened to Arthas, hell it even kinda sorta happened to Garrosh... she will just be the next one on the path. Unless they write her to realize the error of her judgment, but thats too much of a hope with Blizzard writers.
I found it better for Sylvanas, as a character, to finally change and embrace her fate and lead her new people instead of just sulking, filled with hateful vengeance, and losing purpose after the events with Arthas. I love what they did with the Forsaken in Cataclysm. Instead of cowering in old abandoned human buildings, the Forsaken finally got their own unique architecture for their buildings and started to finally do something about their fate. And at least Sylvanas gives the option of joining the Forsaken, so it's not like she forces the curse.

This is a common misconception. Garrosh ORDERED the Forsaken to attack gilneas. They didn't do it because they wanted to. They were commanded to. If you read the short story on Sylvannas on WoWs website you'll see that. Garrosh is the only reason Gilneas was attacked and subsequently rescued by the alliance.

yay you did a Lillian Voss episode! :D I only ever caught part of her story when I was playing through the undead storyline and of course doing dungeons. I thought she was a really cool character but I didn't know much about her, like I didn't know that she was still alive, though I should have figured and I hope she comes back cause she is such a badass!
I have always wondered why he says "You were too dangerous in life" if she was fighting FOR them. I'd love to see Lilian again. She's one of the few characters that I have always loved seeing in the game. And now, I know what happened to her between Undead starting area and the dungeon.

That fight to stop the Darkmaster from practically burning her soul was always an immediate DPS rush to try and save her before she screams out in pain and loses control!
And it is possable and funny to end t befor he splits her and just have her stick the blade in him too ad it doesn't one shot the dark master

She wants us to collect a Soulsever Blade and slay Teron'gor from Auchindoun, this special blade which has 'special properties' that will aid her against the undead.
Wonder if she gives us more quests to do as well.

So good that she's a prominent part of the story now during Wow 8.1.5 ... I love seemingly inconsequential characters playing a significant role, especially when you can opt to learn more about them by doing certain quest-lines and paying solid attention to quest text.
So, Nobbel87, I have a question, and an idea, it could be trite, but it made sense to me. What if Lilian is Sylvanas' daughter, with the human who she had close to her. Here are a couple reasons why I think this could happen, the scarlet crusade was crazy and they were kind of being lead around by a dread lord. Lilian turns up and it's explained she was trained to be the best at everything she did. Magic and weapons, she's a perfect assassin. because her father always treated her as a weapon and not as a child. Say she wasn't the daughter of Voss. that sure would make her easy to use as a weapon. it would also explain why maybe, she was killed, the first time around because she was "too powerful". Maybe it was even Voss' idea to have her put down. Another strange fact is that when we see her in the School for necromancers, her Soul is ripped from her body, the same way that Sylvanas' soul is. She also reclaims her body after she is freed from the control of the necromancer. The necromancer finds it impossible that she can do this, and we basically leave her for dead. I don't know about Blizzard or what they have in mind, but this was a thought I had that would make more sense for the take over of Lilian from Sylvanas. Or perhaps she could even some how be the Daughter of Sylvanas' missing sister. Just some food for thought, and I wanted to share. When Lilian is in the starting zone, I always hated her. She seemed to be a HUUUGE idiot in my opinion. Seeing this though, it changed my opinion on her and now I regret what I thought about her. She's badass lol

So, assuming that Sylvanas becomes crazy and we get a repeat of Ogrimar, Lilian might end up taking over as leader of the Forsaken with the power she has.
Though I really hope that doesn't happen any time soon. We just went through the whole thing with Garrosh, hopefully they have something different. Alliance centered maybe? To show both sides that no body is perfect. Jaina is already on the edge of her pier. That could be interesting.

I don't think she would be a the Lich Queen, but she might emulate it with magical constructs and such.
Our Guild I highly doubt that she would take over as the new leader. Like Nobbel said she hates Necromancy and all that so it's really doubtful that after killing the person who indirectly raised her into undeath Lillian would decide that leading the Forsaken would be something she would want to.

Sylvanas also hated it at first but then took the responsibility over it. As someone who dislikes necromancy, she would want to make sure that what happened to her wouldn't happen to others, similar to Sylvanas at first.

sylvanas isn't evil, she's just trying to keep her people alive. If voss tries to kill her, we'll just kill voss. forsaken for unlife.
Lilian would be a lovely addition to the BfA storyline, even if it's heavily weighing on Janna Proudmoore's story, maybe we will be able to defeat Sylvanas soon and Lilian will get her revenge and we can see her true powers

Ner'zhul could be a target, but if you have an Inn at your garrison you can get a quest from her to collect some blades from auchindoun.
If I am not mistaken aren't all undead raised doomed to go to the void.
Doesn't this mean if a soul refused to be forsaken he is doomed to an enternity of torment and agony. I wonder if the other forsaken know this when they meet their new brethren.

Blizzard obviously won't make another horde faction leader a boss and it's highly doubtful anyone would be dumb enough to march against her.
I can but can't agree with this. In a sense you're right that they wouldn't make a Horde leader turn evil then make her a boss since it would start to portray the Horde as evil, however in another sense she's becoming a bit... hungry to use her power judging from what she said in the Siege of Oggrimar.
She may end up being a boss seeing as she wants to use this power a lot on people of the Horde and Alliance and possibly use it against them.
BigMcK There is also a possiblity of a redemption story for Sylvannas, where she is on the verge of becoming a true "Banshi/Forsaken/Lich Queen" but something causes her to return to her more original mindset as an elf. Avoiding the "New boss from the horde".
When Bolvar awakens in the future, Sylvanas will aid him. They, being very similar, fell in love. She can teach him everything about being and leading undead, and he can teach her about being a more "positive" character. They will be the Horde version of Tyrande and Malfurion, with Bolvar being the more "neutral" of the two, like Malfurion. And Bolvar will teach the Alliance how to have a better understanding of her. They will not love her, but they will tolerate her for helping a great Alliance warhero like Bolvar and for the countless other helps she has provided in other situations like the Siege of Orgrimmar or the Invasion of the Iron Horde.

Could you please do storys of other Games? Like Dark Souls 1/2? It would be soooo awesome, those are extremly rich in base of cryotic storys and you got to figure the most out yourself, i think you would like that :D

Another good story, I like these little side characters.
Well at the end of SoO Varian mentions retaking gilneas, rebuilding Theramore, and *_dealing with Sylvanas_*. So i imagine we'll see Sylvanas do something evil some day and while the alliance fights their own battle with her, Lilian will wage a more 'personal' war against her and her scourge. i imagine her doing sort of solo spec ops/renegade missions to sabotage the forsaken (perhaps a quest chain or two which allows us to help her), and that she'll be there for the final blow when the Alliance comes knocking on her doorstep, if they don't already find her dead and covered in purple flames by the time they get to her.
If Blizzard doesn't do anything will Llian Voss for a storyline involving Sylvanas or other forsaken/Scarlet Crusade lore, then that is but another missed opportunity. Blizzard could definitely work on missing less of those when it comes to characters being involved in lore that their storylines revolve around.
I don't think Blizzard will make ANOTHER horde leader go bad, I have a feeling Sylvanas will somehow turn good and once again, get betrayed this time by the Val'kyr, in their attempt to create a new scourge.
Maybe when the next expansions come out as we get to see Aleera Windrunner, the 3 sisters will bond and turn good living happily ever after. END OF STORY

That might actually open up the possibility of another Northrend expansion, Lillian might just avoid the Forsaken and go straight for Bolvar! Or maybe she'll kill Sylvanas and take over the Forsaken and then go for Bolvar! And Wrathion might stage a coup at Wyrmrest and take over all the dragons so he could use the remainder of their power to subjugate the mortal races and unite us all against the legion! And the Titans might come back!

Sylvanas as a true high elf, she desires power so much! High elves would do anything to have more! (Look kael'thas) I like the story of Sylvanas but she is kinda turn into the same person she hated most. High elves are selfish, so Sylvanas wanted revenge (for her own), when the job is done she felt empty and jumped to death. But when the "more Power" appeared she accepted it. If in the future will appear another "power" I think she will accept it too.(LKing's?)

So as a Forsaken I like more the thoughts of this young and powerful Lilian Voss than the selfish addicted old Sylvanas.

If Sylvanas would be the new enemy and Voss would be the new leader, we will all ask; how there gona be new Forsaken in the future?
- Maybe the bad Sylvanas will drop a curse while she dies, that all the dead humans will go undead. Or
- The great Forsaken apothecary will find a potion which will given to those humans who don't want to die for ever and want another life as a Forsaken.

I don't hate Sylvanas as a being I hate her attitude. (I sure hate her NEW VOICE though!!!!!!!! >_
I really do not hope that we will have to kill Sylvanas in some future expansion, she is one of the most lovely characters in the game, besides, if she dies then the whole race of Forsaken will probably go aswell, then we lose a race to play as, which is unlikely.
Besides, she is not that bad, compared to Garrosh, the original Horde, Burning Legion, Deathwing, Mogu, Old Gods, Arthas, Ragnaros, Malygos, and murlocs, she is a good and righteous person :) This is coming from an ever-loyal member of the Alliance.
Lillian I think will most likely end up in the ranks of Lich King Bolvar, I highly doubt he can keep control over Ner´zul, that helmet got som power in it and do not believe for a second that he will be on our side.

Well what's up with Koltira since Andorhal? Well Sylvanas was an elf.. in life now she's a undead elf, Koltira was an elf.. now an undead elf. Sylvanas taken him ''under Undercity'' that means some kind of secret stuff that she just told us. What do you think is happening there?
Hint: Koltira - elf , Sylvanas - elf, no other sensible ''undead male elfs'' are out there, get it? No? I'll just stop trying.

Lilian should go one step further and take the fight to the Burning Crusade in WoD. They're responsible for the plague of undeath, anyway.

I hope Lilian becomes a general for Sylvanas I get that she hates necromancy but I think it would be smart if Sylvanas tells Voss that every person she brings back has a choice. (even if they really don't) If they want to they can go back to being dead that way Voss wouldn't have much of a problem against Sylvanas. Then can she can work for Sylvanas in order to find the rest of the Crusade.
If Lillian are going to rescue Kolthira. I belive she will need help from Thassarian and Calia Menethil. It is rumored that Calia was also captured in Undercity.

Personally, I hope we don't kill Sylvanas and just teach her another way like we did with Moria Thassarin, Sylvanas is a role model for many of the forsaken and I highly doubt they'd be will to abandon someone they in reality worship, it'd be the Azhara issue all over again.

I rly wished they saved WOTLK for a later date. I know it was needed after BC for further stuff but its just that Arthas was my favorite villain of all time so i wanted to save him for 1 of the last expansion packs but it was needed to get this far into the game.
FYI I just got the tavern in my garrison and guess who was there? Lillian Voss. She gave me a quest to kill necromancers in Archindon. So there is confirmation she did not die and she is indeed going after all the necromancers.
I think it would be really cool if Lillian becomes the new scourge leader after Sylvanis' inevitable downfall. I like Lillian a lot more, and think she represents what the forsaken are much better.
Love your videos, I like lore but seem to miss it all while leveling mindlessly. I have done all these quests and dungeons etc but never paid attention, I would have never put it all together.

Well for a new expansion what may happen is that Sylvanas goes out of controll with the resurrections so Bolvar is pissed and returns to the Alliance warning Varian about it.

Sylvanas gives some of them a choice. I doubt she gave the alliance forces she resurrected during the siege of Orgrimmar a choice.

The way I see it is, Arthas became evil because he was corrupted by the tortured spirit of an ancient Orc Shaman, Ner'Zhul (Whom was killed by Kil'Jaeden) and the spirit of Ner'zhul was put inside the armor and Crown of Domination (The Lich King crown). Frostmourne served as a link between these unholy relics and started the whole train wreck with Arthas. He tracked down the blade for more power to be able to defeat Mal'Ganis, a Dreadlord who was in service to the Burning Legion, and also worked with Balnazzar, to spread the Plague all across Azeroth. Arthas obtained Frostmourne, became corrupt, put on the armor of the Lich King for more power, and then killed a bunch of people, resurrected Kel'Thuzad, a former Kirin Tor mage who was promised immortality in Undeath for helping spread the Plague. Arthas became evil and ascended to Lich King when he put on the Crown, merging his soul with Ner'zhul, making one person. When Arthas was killed, it also killed off Ner'zhul's spirit, forever possibly. Making the armor of the Lich King and the Crown, just armor. Nothing more, nothing less. When Bolvar put on the crown, he became the new Lich King, gaining control over the Scourge, but so far, has no corruption or any bad morals. He will hopefully be a good Lich King. Hopefully.
I dont see the lich king beeing a good guy, maybe neutral, but all the scourge wants to do is eat brains, not help the ones they wanna eat
