From an engineers point of view, the Bose is much more impressive. When the SoundLink mini was first released it showed the industry that you can get good audio out of a very small speaker. So much work and thought went into the SoundLink mini and for its size, its the best your going to get. The Jbl is still really good though.
The battery is good I manage to charge it, but I have bypass the USB ports, and charging direct on the hard wire +/- and worked, I added a micro USB port with charging protection! To replace the battery with a new one is not as simple as the battery is hard wired, but then again what's the point if the old battery is still good and hold the charge! Is just a firmware problem that I could not solve as the laptop won't recognise the device, and I did try multiple laptops in win 7 and win 10 and no joy!
Wow! You are a speaker freak! That is a good thing. :) I had an order placed for the Flip 3 but after watching your reviews, I feel confident switching my order to a Flip 4. Thank you for your excellent reviews.
I bought the flip 4. But in this video it has no chance against the soundlink mini 2. The highs of the soundlink mini are much more natural. I don't think the flip 4 suffers because of too much highs. I think there are too much upper mids at about 4 khz. If one just reduce this band about - 5 dB everything is okay with the sound of the flip 4.
The Bose sounds pretty bad... TBH... Bose just used too much Equalization to hopefully compensate for their crappy speaker Drivers... The flip 4 sounds much better with the better speaker Drivers...
man... the sound quality differences are very distinguishable. Bose for the win because it gives you this studio like sound quality that is very refined, clean, and soothing
Thanks for the comparison! I would choose Flip 4 for more balanced sound without bass boosting at low levels like bose, also it is waterproof, lighter, better battery life and easier to carry.
Idk why but your flip 4 sounds really weird in this video, my flip 4 definitely DOES NOT sound like that! Yours sounds way too sharp/too much treble/too thin and harsh, maybe it's also just your microphone...
Both speakers are pretty good but I personally feel that the flip 4 is slightly better since the instrumentals sound louder and clearer than the bose... the sound in the bose sounds a bit compressed and only a few frequencies will be the “main focus” while in the flip 4 the range of frequencies sound equally as loud... Though, on the plus side, the bose have soundlink mini 2 have a little bass boost and it’s good at low volumes but on high volumes, the bass is a bit drowning and distorted while the jbl has good bass on high volume and very little bass on low volume... I will go with the jbl flip 4... If you really want to get a portable bose speaker, go with the bose soundlink revolve plus, not the bose soundlink mini version... These are just my honest opinions, pls don’t be mad at me if you prefer the bose soundlink mini 2 over the jbl flip 4... :)
80% volume level is already too high. Most bt speakers after 70-75% start to distort. Try at 20% then 50% and then 80% or maybe max. It's more useful that way.
lol i don't know what kind cheap speakers u listen to because good speakers should not distort maybe at full volume but other than that no. But you are right it would be more professional to use different volume.
Excellent sound comparison. But in my opinion the Flip 4 wins all day not only in sound but other areas as well. Why? 1) It's roughly 1/2 the price of the Bose SoundLink Mini 2. 2) It's rugged, has a carabiner, and is IPX7 waterproof. 3) It has a much longer battery life than the Bose SoundLink Mini 2. 4) Through my earphones the sound clarity from the Flip 4 is actually cleaner and clearer despite the slight treble sharpness. The bass on the Flip 4 was better in my opinion as well. 5) The Flip 4 has the new JBL CONNECT + feature which will allow for up to 100 JBL speakers which also have the CONNECT + feature to become daisy chained and play together. JBL will be adding that feature through an update on the JBL Connect application for the JBL Xtreme and the JBL Charge 3. The JBL Pulse 3 will already come upgraded with the Connect + feature. 6) The JBL Flip 4 can be charged via USB. 7) You can push a button on the Flip 4 and voice activate Siri or Google. And last but not least number 8) The Flip 4 is by a slim margin more portable and easier to hold in the hand. IMO The JBL Flip 4 is victorious in every category.
I used to depend on my Bose Soundlink too for quality at higher price. But twice I had trouble with the soft ware or whatever and it cost the same amount of money to repair as a new one costs. Hence I am now buying a JBL which I think looks colourful and much cheaper and the sound quality is not to be ashamed of either.
I had an SL Mini II that I sold as soon as I heard a friends JBL Flip 3. While it is true that the Bose has a warmer sound at lower volumes, all bass is removed at higher volumes and the speaker is simply extremely quiet overall - 100% volume on the Bose is around 60% on JbL Flip. The Flip goes A LOT louder to the point where its not even a fair comparison, better maintains bass and has a much higher treble resolution. As soon as you place the Soundlink further away from you it will sound extremely anemic and weak, and the already muffled highs are extremely directional, meaning if you do not face the speaker straight, it will sound even more muffled. Not to mention that my friend picked up his Flip 3 SE on sale for just 50 bucks!
jlb is more commercial so the majority always says it's better. I recommend that you go to a store where you can try both and realize that bose has more sound quality. I have the SMini I, I had compared it with speakers of my friends and the truth is that I haven't found something better (taking account the size obviously) I clarify that I am not married to any brand, if I found something better I would buy it.
I'm torn..I really want the Bose, Costco has the Bose for $149.00 and Base Exchange has the flip 4 for $49.00 black Friday 2018. What would you all do????? Please help.
Dude, I have seen and tested a lot of Bose products including Bluetooth speakers. Unless you have a conductive/neural hearing loss, you know they are not that superior in terms of sound quality. Most of their products are overhyped and overpriced. They are like the Apple company of audio products.
Here in South Africa the BOSE SL Mini2 goes for R7800 (R4500 if you get a grey import)!!! and the Flip4 goes for R1600... I dont know why Bose is so crazy expensive here, but customers do not even think about buying Bose. I like the way Bose products sound but you have to take price into account...
Just getting back to my bluetooth speakers. The Bose Mini is by far a superior unit in comparison. None of the tests I've seen have the demonstrators done what the instructions for the Mini say. Best performance is achieved when place close to a wall.
hi, I want to buy the flip 4 but I'm hesitating with the SoundLink mini color ii. I want to have the best in terms of balance, but also in resistance (waterproof, resistant etc) and the SoundLink mini 2 (not color) doesn't respond to those criterias. Do you have an opinion or an experience to help me chosing between the SoundLink mini COLOR ii and the flip 4? thank you, best regards
I love these videos. One suggestion: could you try some different styles of music. People do listen to other genres besides rap/pop/R&B. Some classical/movie scores would be nice. And some classic rock (AC/DC, the Door, CCR, etc...). Thank you
Based on this video, the clear winner is the Bose SoundLink mini 2, and here's why. I might be on the minority on this one but hear me out. While the JBL Flip 4 is obviously the louder speaker, it doesn't sound nearly as good as the Bose. The Bose SoundLink mini 2 has the the richer clarity and deeper bass with a pinch of dynamic sound. The JBL on the other hand is plenty loud but falls short because of the flat sound and too sharp on the highs with not enough bass to compensate it. Honestly the Flip 4 sounds just like a Beats by Dre speaker, loud but flat. Sounds to me like JBL went the cheap route and amped up the sound output of the previous Flip 3 without fixing the sound quality. But I still wouldn't get either of these because I'm happy with my JBL Charge 3.
Right, though the Flip 4 sounds more wider, Mini 2 has better sound quality and bass. In my fucking country India, mini 2 costs Rs.16200 and Flip 4 is Rs.20000
As I read these comments, all I see is " Bose Sound Link Mini 2 is better." The big thing that you're missing here is that the two speakers are totally different. As a matter of fact, the Mini 2 was designed as an indoor, mantle piece speaker. On the other hand theirs the JBL Flip 4 which comes from a totally different world. The Flip 4 has never been known as the most bassy or loudest speaker, its known for its tough, waterproof ruggedness. The point here is, its an unfair comparison. Its like lining up your Dodge Challenger and a Toyota corolla and saying "The first one across the finish line wins." Everyone already knows the Challenger will win because its been built for performance. The corolla was designed for the total opposite, fuel economy and slow for elderly people ect.
You can tell from this comparison that the Bose has more bass but that's not automatically a good thing, everything else sounds muffled in comparison to the JBL. I would be interesting to compare in person.
Already owning a JBL Flip 4 (and 3, but nothing comparable), I bought today the Bose... Well it is a bit better than the JBL, but... I am really not sure about whether the price difference is justified 😯 Actually, the Bose is 2 JBL worth in price but 2 JBL Flip 4 playing together are definitly better than a single Bose... I guess I am a bit disapointed >
Niether sounded particularly good to my ears and I'm suspecting the mic that was used. Sounds to me like the mic was a little harsh on the high end like most of the lower end condensers I come across. Good comparison nonetheless.
Lol, it would appear that audio quality is pretty suggestive. Yes the flip sounds like it has more treble and mids. But they sound way off. It sounds glassy and cheap to me. The mini sounds tighter, more pleasant to listen to. The bass is a little too boosted for my taste.
If your going for price and bass quality (and volume) i'd go for the JBL Flip 4 and i would suggest bose just for rich people who like clear and ambiant noise.
in comparison with FLIP4 the speaker BOSE sounds as if from under the blankets. All frequencies of JBL sound are tuned to a maximum up, so they sound very sharp. I think this can be fixed in the player's EQ
Yeah I kinda feel that the JBL was better in terms of treble (or highs as you said). I have the Bose Soundlink mini ii, but am not too pleased with it. It kinda mutes out some of the frequencies imo.
Personnally I don't have the neitheir of these but I think the JBL sounds is the clearest the bass is less effective than bose but I prefer it because the song is better .let me known if I'm wrong
something seems off with your mic. my flip 4 sound completely different. we also have the soundlink mini 2 and even though the sl mini 2 sounds slightly better the price difference isn't justified by that.
I own both speakers... Bose blows the jbl away in quality. Jbl has better trebles and much more bass. If you are young ( like me) you might prefer the jbl over the bose. But the bose is not that mobile because of its weight. The flip 4 is way lighter but lacks the mids and the clarity on the bass. Also the jbls high notes are too loud and that limits the power of the speaker. I used an EQ to lower the highs of the flip 4 and boost the mids on the bose. That way the jbl sound more like a 2.1-ish speaker.
Bose wins by a HUGE margin (indoors). Far crisper mids make it the runaway winner for overall sound quality. But, I'm thinking JBL might be a better choice for outdoors and larger open areas, though.
Hey there!! Nice video! I recently bought the Flip 4. According to your video, the Bose sounds slightly better but is not really affordable in my country. The truth is that the flip 4 was almost three times cheaper ! Yikes. Now i am wondering about the scope when connected via bluetooth. It is said to be about 13 mts2 for the flip4. How about the Bose?
Don't speak about the price, if we speak about dimensions flip 4 is the best on the market for now,and don't forget you can crossover it if you put it on and after hold "volume down+Bluethoot" for 10 sec you will get a mega bass but after you have to be careful with the volume to don't destroy it
having listened personally to both, soundlink mini 1/2 have a better overall sound quality, with deeper bass that makes it sound like if it were a bigger box. if you want the best sound quality on it’s size and have the cash, grab it. you wont regret. So where flip4 fits in? it is more weather rugged capable, so if you want to take it to swimm or if the extra cash is a concern, flip4 may be a good choice. just don’t expect a huge amount of bass there. if you want more bass and still short on the cash, go charge3.
Wellington- Any chance you can do a battle between the JBL XTREME & The BRAVEN READY ELITE Active Outdoor Speaker?? Both Speakers are 40-Watts & pack a TON of Bass!
The JBL definitely has more bass and gets louder, I believe that’s why the nose is a little clearer because it doesn’t have as much bass as the flip 4. But the flip 4 did win this one
The flip 4 has a low frequency setting create a few old down the minus button and the Bluetooth button it'll switch over to low frequency takes about 30 seconds of holding the buttons down increases the bass and mellows out the speaker without losing any sound quality. I wonder how many people actually know of this hey cuz I always see these comparisons but nobody ever says anything about the flip 4 s low frequency setting
As a marketing specilist I can tell you that is normal for consumers that pay so much money for a speaker to have a placebo effect on quality, that applies to bose speakers, the brand that makes portable speakers only worth using inside and that actually cant compete to real brands on the house speaker market where jbl, fluance, micca, denton, etc. are way better
Check before Buying:Bose sound link mini2 cannot be used as speakerphone for watsapp and skype calling whereas Jbl can .the bass of soundlink mini will reduce at high volume, so its not worth for the price u pay, go for harman GO + PLAY, its the best sounding bluetooth speaker available in market
Carbon Ara Don't bring 'being an audiophile' into this, to my ears the Bose sounds cleaner with a much less harsh high end and no low-mid muffling like on the JBL, the simple fact is that Bose has been stereotyped as being crap for a long time by people who clearly haven't owned a single Bose product. The words 'circle jerking' come to mind.
Carbon Ara I've owned both as well and I don't see why I should need to tune a speaker for better sound, it should be good to go right out of the box, the Bose is boosted in the right areas for good reason, the 'one note' you talk about is the 60-70hz range however most songs will not go below this so there is more emphasis here. The low pass on the high end is a good idea in my opinion as when I had my Flip 4, once I turned it near full the crispness of the highs became too much, don't get me wrong I like both but prefer the Bose for pure sound quality. I used my flip 4 for days in college where my group of close friends would listen to more bass heavy music this is where I found Jbl's unique 'Low frequency mode' to come in handy, for casual listening I would choose the Bose because it's signature already greatly enhanced 90% of the songs I listened to without the need for tweaking.
Totally disagree. The highs on the Bose is muffled and the overall sound seems restricted. JBL definitely has higher highs and the bass sounds really good.
You guys aren’t looking at this factor. JBL =$100-$120 Bose =$150-$200. Also the JBL has water resistance and wins in durability, the Bose does sound better but not good enough to justify the features you get with the JBL. Just my opinion.
Honestly I find the sound very unauthentic. I've heard many speakers in real life and listened to them in reviews where they sound similar. In this case the flip 4 mids and treble sounds rather cheap and horrible together with bad boomy bass. I know for sure the Bose has more terrible sound but somehow sounds better here
From an engineers point of view, the Bose is much more impressive. When the SoundLink mini was first released it showed the industry that you can get good audio out of a very small speaker. So much work and thought went into the SoundLink mini and for its size, its the best your going to get. The Jbl is still really good though.

bose has better highs and clearer sound, but price for jbl is nice.

I love flip 4 because of its features and IPx 7 water proof and the biggest thing is that it can connect with other JBL speakers
Absolutely. You get 2 in stereo for the price of one Bose!
80% volume level is already too high. Most bt speakers after 70-75% start to distort. Try at 20% then 50% and then 80% or maybe max. It's more useful that way.
this. at 80%, crompression algorythms commence which favor loudness over dynamic and often lessen the bass
lol i don't know what kind cheap speakers u listen to because good speakers should not distort maybe at full volume but other than that no. But you are right it would be more professional to use different volume.
Jose ! You're actually right on the distortion of the sound after 80% volume, that's for cheap bt speakers.
Jbl flip 4 wins
Sound quality winner: bose sl mini 2
Max vol. and bass winner: jbl flip 4
Huge difference! Its easy to understand why the Bose cost twice.
That was a good idea to use a high quality binaural microphone. This way we can also make our own idea on the winner of the battle. Thanks
Idk why but the Bose sounds sounds so much crisper on the high end and the bass on both sound really good
love bose pure smooth sound...
All this is, is a demonstration of how well your video records sound. There's no way to really judge sound quality from this video.
I am really not sure about whether the price difference is justified 😯 Actually, the Bose is 2 JBL worth in price but 2 JBL Flip 4 playing together are definitly better than a single Bose... I guess I am a bit disapointed >
Dude I really liked the way u presented n finally I'm going for flip 4 ✌🏻
+Likhith Reddy glad you liked it Bro
Niether sounded particularly good to my ears and I'm suspecting the mic that was used. Sounds to me like the mic was a little harsh on the high end like most of the lower end condensers I come across. Good comparison nonetheless.
i would go with the flip 4 because it more portable and water proof and the highs were not bad at all, at least
for me
if you re looking for speaker, you re looking for a sound quality right? I dont care other features.
Lol, it would appear that audio quality is pretty suggestive. Yes the flip sounds like it has more treble and mids. But they sound way off. It sounds glassy and cheap to me.
The mini sounds tighter, more pleasant to listen to. The bass is a little too boosted for my taste.
Loving the sound from the BOSE. Listening to it through the flip4😂
Thanks ... amazing video
JBL flip 4 winner no doubt
The sound of the JBL flip 4 is not that bad ! Why the highs are cutted ? I own the Flip 4 and the highs go up to 20kHZ
Guys help. Sony Xb41 vs Bose SL mini 2
Which has more bass?
Here it's something very important that no one talk about: THE PRICE. The Bose it's almost twice expensive than the JBL.
Bose does have more rich sound than jbl flip 4....... thank you willington brother...for the review...👍👍
Bose Speakers are the best... A faithfully costumer for the past 18 years!
But jbl LOUDER than bose
Bose mini 2:clear
Flip 4:louder
If your going for price and bass quality (and volume) i'd go for the JBL Flip 4 and i would suggest bose just for rich people who like clear and ambiant noise.
I like them both, but the flip is $100 cheaper and waterproof.
So ya I got the flip4 and love it.
in comparison with FLIP4 the speaker BOSE sounds as if from under the blankets.
Bose sound link mini or jbl xtreme... which one is better??
Maybe you can choose JBL xtreme 2, better than xtreme.
Personnally I don't have the neitheir of these but I think the JBL sounds is the clearest the bass is less effective than bose but I prefer it because the song is better .let me known if I'm wrong
Would it not be better if the speakers played the same song?
something seems off with your mic. my flip 4 sound completely different. we also have the soundlink mini 2 and even though the sl mini 2 sounds slightly better the price difference isn't justified by that.
Wybe Visser what app did you use to change the EQ of the flip 4?
Go_Shidoku just type bass boost in the playstore its the black and white headphones
But jbl stereo mode blow bose .. agree?
Guys should I get xb33 or xb43 or soundlink mini 2?
Bose for life
Please compare Sony xb3 with flip 4. 🙏

which one is the best BOSE Sound Link II or JBL Flip 4
Flip 4 hands down my friend. Don't take my word for it. Try it and see...ahem....hear.
Gevindu Samarasinghe hello
Gevindu Samarasinghe bose is better cauze i have him. look at the
effect of
bose😍😍😍😍😍
e
Gevindu Samarasinghe iam expert at these things . bose wins
JBL Flip 4 Hands down. Detail and Loudness is there.
i have the flip4 and I love it
Bose wins by a HUGE margin (indoors). Far crisper mids make it the runaway winner for overall sound quality. But, I'm thinking JBL might be a better choice for outdoors and larger open areas, though.
I agree that treble is little bit harsh on flip 4, but price - performance is good.
the Flip 4 is louder than Mini 2 but the sound quality is much better in Mini 2 than the Flip 4. well that's just my own opinion, how about you?
Listening this in my Bose !
ME TOO!!
Hey there!!
They should be about the same range because they are running the same version of Bluetooth
Well I decided, I buy both of them !! :)
bro i got both of them too . you the only one think like me 😅
Con này mấy tiền a à
what's the point comparing speakers with so different prices ?
what's the point comparing speakers using that mic?
The best?
What has best bass?
Check before Buying:Bose sound link mini2 cannot be used as speakerphone for watsapp and skype calling whereas Jbl can .the bass of soundlink mini will reduce at high volume, so its not worth for the price u pay, go for harman GO + PLAY, its the best sounding bluetooth speaker available in market
the bose sound much better
Stewee Only on this video
It sounds better quality in general tbh
I used my flip 4 for days in college where my group of close friends would listen to more bass heavy music this is where I found Jbl's unique 'Low frequency mode' to come in handy, for casual listening I would choose the Bose because it's signature already greatly enhanced 90% of the songs I listened to without the need for tweaking.
audio file quality??? really
I know for sure the Bose has more terrible sound but somehow sounds better here
i bought both and the flip 4 is definitely better! it's louder, has better highs & overall!
