If you close your eyes and the sound sounds like coming from inside a box, thats a bad speaker. Good speakers should not sound boxed, they have to make you forget is a speaker. That boxy sound is distorsion added by the speaker, obviously not in the original recording. A professional speaker minimizes distortion and aims to reproduce all the sound frequencies equally well. For that reason Bose is the one that is better.

Bose sounlink mini 2
Nice battery life the speaker has incredible rich sound for mids and lows but once highs start to hit the bass seems to leave. The build quality of the speaker wasn’t very scratch resistant and I feel like if I dropped it, that it would blow apart into pieces. All around a great speaker but lacking in base and top sound I’m general. Not very loud
JBL charge 3
I’ve had this for a week now and can tell you this is the best speaker I’ve owned. The bass is so aggressive for its size where in other speakers it almost seem to not exist. The speaker is super loud and clear but not as rich of a sound as the Bose. The size wasn’t and isn’t a discomfort and you get more retires out the charge compared to the sound link mini 2. Also I’m not scared to drop thus as the rubber is on the side and the material around the base. For sure scratch resistant. Back to sound it doesn’t get destorted at high volunes and bas remains.
I think for inside use the Bose is better. But for half the price of Bose you can get the charge 3 which in my opinion surpasses the Bose performance
You almost made the comparison ive been looking for. We all know that the JBL is louder, so why did you have to make the comparison recordings at different db ratings? The psychology behind a/b comparisons is that at best you can only do so within a second or two, but this is considering identical volumes. With videos like this, most people will automatically prefer the louder sound, as it comes across as more clear given our playback volume.
As for your high-hat question, it sounded to me that the JBL had a boosted treble range that made the high-hat sound overly distinct, and imo was somewhat harsh. Neither speaker played the type of sound I have in mind, and ive never even heard that song before.

I am not sure who you mean when you say "We all know" because the most common question i get on my videos is which one is louder, SO i don't assume that people have that knowledge like you do. I also understand where you are coming from about the volume but its just my style, If half the volume of A is not as loud as half the volume of B. i want that to be seen/heard in the video, If i don't do that, Again i will be asked a million times which one is louder.
But also, "we all know" speakers start compression as volume goes up, i don't like the idea of playing A at 70% while playing B at 100% just because i want them to be equally loud, That wont do any justice to B, which will defeat the purpose of my videos. If some one thinks one speaker is better just because its louder than the other, Its safe to say that they are probably looking for a louder speaker but not the sound quality.
+DLX Willington - Thank you for the response. I dont want to tell you how you should conduct your own videos, but I will offer you some constructive advice. Do a comparison at 100%, then do a comparison at 50%. Then put the more quiet speaker at a volume high enough where it is loud, but not too high as to start compressing frequencies, adjust the other speaker to an equivalent db rating, and conduct an SQ test. Since SQ is genre and sound dependent, pick a couple of tracks that emphasize either highs, mids, lows, and/or fullness of sound.
As someone who owns a soundlink mini II, im looking for an honest comparison of the SQ compared to the C3. I know of the shortcomings of comparing a warm sounding speaker to a cold and revealing one, and putting a warm speaker at a lower volume will make it lose out in an a/b comparison almost every time. Comparing every track with both speakers set to 70% volume is a useless comparison.
+metallitron9000 Thanks for your advice. I plan on doing 50 and 100% volumes in the near future, but I am still not quite sure about comparing speakers playing at different volumes. To be clear, I really appreciate your in put, it's what has been helping me make better videos everyday and I am thinking about your advice. But as of right now, I will still be doing the "useless comparisons" as you called them.

+metallitron90 I think JBL is more crisp with classical jbl basses (I would define them "very clear basses") , BOSE lack in high frequencies but BASS-mid is lovely (Bose basses are very corpous and heavy). In general I think BOSE sq is better because has got a better personality ( I love BOSE's concept of sound(basses))

I have the Bose Soundlink mini II SE and it is a very aesthetic, beautiful and premium looking speaker which has amazing sound quality with clear vocals and is surprisingly powerful for its size.
charge 3 wins in low and high frequency while bose soundlink mini has the sound clarity in mid frequency. nice video man.

Great channel. You let the speakers speak! And technically well done, so we really do hear the differences (with good headphones, ideally).
Back to these great speakers... Charge 3 sounds like Charge 4, so this is still a very relevant test. Clean and uncolored sound from both (compared to slight coloration on most of the Sonys and UE Boom 3). BTW, 'coloration' is like talking or singing with cupped hands around your cake hole.
Both clean, but the JBL is more forward in vocals/mids in a very pleasant way. And the Charge 3 or Charge 4 has a bigger sound, because - duh - it's a lot bigger:)
The 'bigness' of the Charge 3/Charge 4 sound is not a major advantage over the Bose Mini 2 unless you are outdoors, or playing at 80% or more volume indoors; the Bose will keep up with the big JBL except at party-type situations, INMHO.
Very agreeable sound from both... might finally come down to styling, brand preference, price.
I have both and the JBL gets louder, but the Bose mini 11 sounds cleaner and more accurate.
I searched this video because I own both of these, compared them side by side, and have a very obvious coclusion almost instantly. In terms of overall sound, Charge 3 just takes it for me. But Bose has the advantage in its form factor and also not a bad sound by far. But JBL is obviously better in terms of depth, and.. just slightly more separation. But I'm baffled to see people still giving Bose an edge on this based on my own listening. Just goes to show for me how subective people's comments are (including mine). We really can't take people's words for it on the internet for our favorite sounds. Always go try them out in person.

I bought both a JBL and the Bose Sound link Mini 2. After doing testing in my little apartment. I did find the JBL of course had more volume then the Bose speaker. However; The clean quality sound I could hear out of the Bose speaker just blew JBL out of the water! So, JBL went back to Costco and I have my little Bose Sound link Mini 2. I take it up to the college and I absolutely love the sound quality. I do wish the JBL had much better sound quality in the end. The Bose Speaker is heavy and wish it came with some protection against falls. It is pretty heavy. The 2 options of charging my speaker is a huge plus over the JBL. Any idea's for a good protective case for my new Bose Mini 2 speaker?

Bose sound is clearly more precise and profound. JBL on the other hand is at least 40% cheaper, Bass seem heavier and overall is louder (better for parties). Depends on preference and usage. If I had unlimited money, I’d go for the Soundlink Mini II. But if you take the budget in consideration I think it’s 50/50

Mohammed Zakaria ali hmm. The Bose already distorts slightly over 50% volume and has no upper treble at all. The Jbl Sounds good at normal levels and even on high levels. Plus the Jbl is Cheaper, is Ipx7, can connect to another jbl speaker, can charge your phone, has a better battery life up to 20 hours of play time. And yeah you would obviously think of me as a jbl fanboy but i prefer the Sony SRS Xb30 over the Charge 3 wich is even better with deeper bass and has clearer highs and simply overall better sound.

Ghay Ghay hahah heavy? Not really ,the Jbl is loud and sounds better on high and normal levels and for outdoor use you need some more loudness. I used to take my charge 2+ outdoors wich goes as loud as the SL Mini and it was really soft and hardly hearable from already 10 meters. I’d rather get a cheaper speaker with better sound and more features. If i want a small speaker i think the Jbl flip 4, bose soundlink revolve and Sony Xb20 are much better options if you really need a small speaker.
Imagine if bose was big as JBL how it would be loud?

You put in the time and proper standards, and it really does help hear the differences in the equipment featured---compared to other reviews that tend to feature the rather poor quality of their own equipment, or where the reviewers tend to talk too much... ;)
Although the Charge 3 is considered JBL's competitor to the Bose Mini 2 in marketing terms (size, pricing etc.), I feel like they don't belong in the same category in terms of sound quality---if we are talking about clarity, richness and balance, as opposed to powerful, thumping-bass party sound, for which Charge 3 works well (not surprisingly since it was designed with outdoor use in mind).
Could you do a comparison between the Soundlink Mini 2 and the Xtreme 2 one of these days? I feel like they compare more in terms of the richness of the sound---and (more selfishly) those are the two I am hesitating between... ;D
I like the bose beter, because it's lesser "in your face" audio. I like the design of the bose 2, but that's also the biggest downside. It get scratches pretty fast and it's not waterproof. So the bose is unfortunately not a throw in you bagpack type of speaker.

The trouble with these tests is everything about them between the surface they are placed on, the room, the microphone, the youtube compression and my headphones are going to seriously colour the sound. Listening on a pair of Sennheiser HD25 the low mids sound very aggressive on the JBL, especially between 250 - 500hz. Both speakers don't handle low end bass well but that's not really a surprise. The JBL has more poke but the Bose is a lot more balanced and controlled across the spectrum. My vote is the Bose.
don't forget that the charge 3 is a bigger and less clear speaker I think that the Mini 2 has a nice clear tone

I loveeee my mini. I have 2 and they are incredible at low volumes. Not that they are quiet (wish they were a tad louder) but I mean at low volumes they sound incredible. Really rich audio for a desk or nightstand or music in the kitchen/bathroom type of thing. I live in the desert where it gets 120°+ so the bose gets really realyyyyy hot if left in the sun. But I’ve been doing it for years and they sound better than they did when I first bought them. They really do break in quite a bit. I didn’t even know it until I thought my second mini 2 (first is actually a mini 1) thought it was a dud until I realized it needed to be broken in for a couple weeks. Now it sounds better. Anyway both great speakers. If you can get one for cheap get that one.
I’m about to buy the jbl for by the pool and to beat up. It’s $100 right now on amazon used, but it an unopened damaged box from amazon. They have a bunch so jump on it. 12/21/19 woop.

The speakers sound very different in other videos, but overal the bose sound better the sound is more detailed and it has a better bass, but the jbl is louder and is for loud music with not a very detailed sound ( so with not a lot different instruments) also i have heared them in real life and the bose is more for mis volume songs and the jbl is for max volume but the jbl is a better outdoor speaker because it can handle must more outdoorsie stuff

I will not trust this video at all. After I used my mini 2 to play this in a room with a couple of friends , We all agreed that you probably have a faulty recording system. My mini II can produce both sounds extremely well, suggesting somewhere the extreme highs and Lows produced Bose are not being faithfully reproduced by your recording pipeline.

Bose has better sound quality but I’d still go with JBL because of higher bass and loud sound for its size which is good for large rooms and outdoor playing. I mean If you really need sound quality go spend on a big set of decent speakers. Thats just my opinion, i am not a fan of high bass or loud music but its impressive for charge 3 offering such high bass and loudness for its size while still sounding great if not perfect.
Has there been any new updates for the charge 3 yet? I'm waiting for the new update in order to hook up my flip 4 with my charge 3 for the stereo effect. Thanks

As everyone has a jbl, but i own a bose, I can safely say that the jbl is louder, has more bass, so is comfortable for the average listener. They'd probably don't care about definition and appreciate fatter sound. The bose, for me, certainly is the nicest of the mobile speajers i have heard. It has a defined sound, not a bass heavy sound, but bass is certainly there as well. It can't carry all the definition with increased loudness, but it is really sturdy. It can't cover as much space as a comparable jbl, but then again the comparable jbl are much bigger. The bose does best for its size. Similarly sized jbl cant compete.

The JBL is newer, so it has a technological advantage. I have a mini 2 and competing even against a charge 2 plus it still outperformed it, trust me. The charge 2 was just much worse than the mini 2 back then.
Everyone is missing the point that JBL doesnt have the sub bass the bass on JBL is actualy mid ..so it can be very loud and have that "base" but its fake... BOSE have the quality you can feel the bass and it have that sub effect.. The quality can not be compared becaus BOSE wins very by far.. But if you whant a loud speaker to use while with friends you should peak the JBL but dont forget you can put BOSE spraker to places (corners, under a table...) you get hard bass boost (actual bass starts echoing) and in my opinions gets lauder kicking bass than JBL if in the right spot.. I like BOSE over JBL becaus JBL is that typical "mainstream" speaker that uses fakeing medots to make crowds think it has that super bass..
JBL is so beautifu and sound is so pretty ，therefore I buy bose mini 2 。

The jbl is louder but you have to take into account the size difference and the fact that the jbl have 2 subs and the Bose has 1 and it's speakers are significantly smaller

soundlink mini II is set music instrument in position easy to separated and handle overall sound better than JBL Charge3.

Have have a sound link mini 2 and just got I. The mail a JBL charge 4 and the jbl definitely has a lot better base and louder sound and I think it has better quality of sound that is the jbl

I agree! The Bose relies too heavily on DSP and equalization to compensate for their low quality speakers! The JBL has high quality speakers and passive radiator technology!

Mass Loudness just isn't the answer, clarity is. You can appreciate all the songs flavours it has and probably still be able to take heed to the sounds amongst you like a question being asked to you from one your peers. When we go clubbing our ears ring from a volume overload the same or next day letting us know too much of 1 thing isn't good for us, 1.

@@luisgarza3093 Son fanboys de bose, y no niego, esa bose suena muy bien para su tamaño, pero obvio la charge tiene mejores bajos por lejos, mejor volumen maximo por lejos, mejor amplitud de audio de instrumentos y agudos por lejos, y en mexico esa bose está entre 3000-3500 y la charge entre unos $2800, la charge es mucho mejor, esa bose es comparable con la flip 4 o 5 y eso que la flip anda entre unos 1800-2000, y como extra le agregamos que JBL tiene resistencia al agua
