I compared the JBL Flip 6, Marshall Emperton and Bose Soundlink Flex. All 3 were very impressive but I decided on the Flex because I could “feel” the bass.
I also have a Bose speaker but I prefer JBL Bose has a good quality and is very good in bass but it falter in mid and high frequencies. The Flip 6 doesn`t have the same bass level but sounds all in all more balanced and more mature - espacially at higher volume. Additional the JBL also has an manual equalizer. Than the housing of the Flip 6 isn`t as prone to scratches and dents than the housing of the Soundlink Flex is.
I've noticed that 90% of these speaker reviews don't start with the sound. Wtf else matters if sound is shit? But credit to this video for actually playing the speakers- that's all I wanted thank you 👍
They must not have the new "feature set" of always needing an internet connection, connected to an app to function and incredible signal latency. I'm ready to throw my overpriced Bose sound system out the freakin' window.
I have flip 6 and it sounds great playing every type of music. Crisp highs, clear midrange and a satisfying base for a small speaker. I’ve heard the Bose sound link flex and the difference wasn’t that noticeable for me to buy it.
I’m a tradesman, have used a jbl speaker for a few years as a work speaker . Can’t believe how durable it is . Gets rained on , knocked around , thrown in with the tools , and just keeps on going , every day for a few years
Kudos on review, great to the point comparison feedback. Bought the Bose Soundlink Flex for $110 at Costco. I’m not an expert on sound, Happy with Bose.
Wow, different crowds here lol most comments videos I see are leaning more with Flex than JBL. Also I have noticed, none of these comments actually have both so they can’t compare JBL vs Flex. Awesome vid btw!!!
This was a great video review. Well done. It didn't help me with my decision making, but that is not meant to be a complaint. It just attests to how fair and honest your video was!
The Bose flex is very cool in my opinion just got mine love that the EQ is available just by the way you position the speaker it activates Bose signature sound, mono, and surround (you'll hear it). The most impressive thing about Bose is that not only does it have EQ but it can change the range of sound on its own. For example if the song gets intense the volume goes up it's incredible
though it seems impressive i prefer to not have "self adaptive systems" tbh. " if the song gets intense the volume goes up" -thats the purpose of mixing and mastering already. The song gets louder at the peak or better said it is lower until the peak and its mixed this way. I dont want a speaker additionally "improvising" and messing with the sound if you get me. This is why i gave away my Bose microlink micro. In the intro of many songs it automatically raises the volume and when the song really comes in then it goes into compression resulting in songs sounding sometimes even louder in the intro than after the first "drop". I really dont like this cause (again) it defeats the purpose of mixing and mastering. But i am sure others will like it. Its just my opinion
@@krishnagilda if you got this for Christmas someone loves ya but unfortunately it only switches by the way it stands I recommend hanging it, it's the best balance and you get extra surround if you swirl it lol (I hang mine on a speed bag swivel)
Stereo Mode is actually true Stereo when you pair two soundlink Flex ??, ...do you have any issues or tips to pair them?? ...I (just bought two for the same reason, ..they arrive next week)
@@lucetothebridge its about the same length my living room. So when you pair the 2 of them you get double the intensity of the audio and also True Stereo ?
Great review. Since you talk about durability, it would be great if you could take into account reparability of the object too. Too many times we buy objects that are designed to be hard to repair or not to be repaired at all. Thanks!
@@smarthomesounds Thanks, especially for devices with a build-in battery that will not have an infinite life. That's a nice thing to take into account.
I had purchased the JBL Flip 6, being a JBL fan for some time. I have not been impressed with Bose products before. However, numerous reviews of these two speakers has made me reconsider my choice.
Bose has always been better quality 👌. However, JBL fits the money budget IMO. The jbl is good but bose is very damn good. The flip 6 is definitely enjoyable. I'm still with the flip 5.
Owned the JBL flip 6 and charge 5 and while they’re great the Bose is way more of a quality sound to my ears and the charge 5 comes in second followed by the flip 6. I was having trouble deciding and am grateful I went with the Bose soundlink flex.
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
Hey there ......great review..... One thing I'd like to mention, iv used the flip 4 extensively and my friend has used the Soundlink mini 2, the battery wear over the years on the flip 4 is much much faster than the bose. So whilst buying a portable speaker I would surely Keep that in mind. Even after replacing the battery from an authorized JBL service centre it was just not long lasting as the stock product. Just my personal experience. Hence I feel in that category bose does do well over jbl.
I must say I agree with the battery wear factor. Had myself a flip 4 and had the same issue. Turned to a soundcore motion+ and it is really an outstanding BT speaker, no issues at all but not quite portable. Now bought the Bose, I hope it is up to the hype
When you did the sound test you had the jbl vertical….Standing on one of its radiators. It isn’t allowing that radiator to push as much air. So I think the bass is compromised in that position. It is designed to be used flat. Your review is the only one that I have seen that has done the test vertical. I have the Charge 5 and I can tell you that the vertical position muffles the sound. Also, you should do a sound test outdoors….they are designed for outdoors.
@@TwinbeeUK Yes I agree,. Totally. Just in case you are interested. I have had the charge 5 for 2 years and love it. If anything happened to it, I would buy another the next day. 👍
9:24 “Now on the Flip side 😉”. I’m new to your channel and I’m extremely impressed with the editing and how organized the video is! Amazing job 👏 I have a JBL Flip 4 since it was released and it still works perfectly but thinking about upgrading.
I've loved JBL since my Athena bookshelf model with 14" woofers. I've stayed with them thru a number of BT models, but when I heard Bose Soundlink Mini, I discovered the best little friend to represent my classical and jazz collection. It's like there's an intelligent mixer inside the speaker, ensuring the best representation from any complex source.
Great review! I was gifted a Bose Flex for Christmas by my boss! It is an excellent speaker! (Full disclosure, have a Bose audio ecosystem in my home. A couple of Soundtouch speakers, a pair of Bluetooth headphones for when I fly, a Soundwear Speaker companion and now the Flex). I also have a JBL Charge 3 that has been my "go to" speaker for sitting out on the back patio or going to the beach. The JBL has amazing battery life (20 hrs on a full charge) and decent sound. Recently as the weather has warmed up here (Queens, NY) I had the opportunity to take the Bose Flex out for it's first outdoor excursion. The sound was full with plenty of bass, and more than enough volume for our patio and shared courtyard. This summer it will make it to the beach for the annual family vacation. For the price point, low profile for portability, it is an ideal portable speaker. I was concerned initially about the 4.2 Bluetooth connectivity, but it has not been an issue. Thanks again for your in depth comparison and review.
Yes, I don’t understand why everyone has to make a big deal about the 4.2 BT. It works throughout my house with no issues. Connects fast and I love that I can cycle through my different connected devices with ease.
I went with the Flip 6 because here in Turkey the Bose Flex costs twice as much. No matter how much I prefer deep bass over everything else it was nonsense to pay double the price. I hope that the EQ Settings in JBL App can make up for the difference in bass, given that in stock mode the Bose’s basses sounds quite a bit better.
With the orientation of the JBL flip 6 during the sound test I feel it was put at a disadvantage as one of the passive radiators was being obstructed due to the speaker being placed on it's side
It's interesting that this video was made 2 years ago, in 2022 and yet the title says "what is the best to buy in 2024" pretty good that you knew back then what would be the best to buy now 😂🤣🤣🤣
Yes, we decided on the title change as both models have not been replaced or superseded and no major software updates released to better performance. So very much relevant in 2024 🚀 and may be 2025 😂
I was confused we he mentioned the soundlink only had bluetooth 4.2. One i’m trying to compare has 5.3….wasn’t until then that I realized this video was 2 years old. looks like there is a soundlink second gen in 2024.
I have a Bose MIni that I like a lot. I recently moved to a house on a River & wanted a bigger speaker for sitting outside. I was looking at the Bose Soundlink Revolve + but the price of 300.00 USD was a bit to much for a River or Beach speaker. So I was looking at Soundlink Flex for 149.00. After watching your video I will be purchasing the Soundlink flex
I got the Bose Flex last week cause of several good reviews and owned a Mini II for years so I hoped for a similar experience. Unfortunately I got disappointed and send it back today. The overall sound mix/adjustment has too much emphasis on bass while highs and mids being damped in comparison to Mini II. This wasn't my main issue though but the horrible white noise when using it with low volume (I like a bit of ambient/chill background music while falling asleep). I found some user feedback on this issue and seemingly it has technical reasons as to 'protect' the speakers. The Mini II also has it but the white noise is way less pronounced and I can only hear it like max 15-20cm away from my ears while with Flex it's really loud and I can still hear it even at 2-3m distance. I hope this isn't the standard for present portable speakers so let's see how the Flip 6 will fare. I'm also not a fan of automatic EQ but like to have manual control so maybe JBL is the better choice from the get-go. I was just biased by the Mini II which had the perfect sound balance for me but didn't want to buy an obsolete model again (especially BT standard). Would have happily kept my Mini II but the battery suddenly doesn't want to charge anymore. Was a good companion for around 6 years though.
same here, what a disappointment. Do you listen to classical music by any chance? If so what portable speaker would you recommend? My organ tracks are literally unlistenable on this, thanks to the overpowering bass.
I have 2 flex the other have white noise in some songs but when I play to the other one it's ok.. maybe there are some of their product has a defect or something..
I also have one and the very first day I bought it I also heard that noise. The noise is mainly as a result of air leak from the little hole Bose put for the mic. So I had to do a teardown like removing only the top gril. It wasn't easy but I did and I took a very strong Adhesive and glued that little hole located at the left of the speaker close to the passive radiator. And who cares about the mic because am not going to use it anyway. So that noise was completely gone and the speaker sounded more better than at first
I have two Flexes, bought from different sources, and I have no white noise at all. I also find the position IQ works great. It gives basically 3 different sound profiles. Upright is the Bose signature “warm” profile with washed out treble (but somehow still maintaining clear vocals). I’m not a fan of this position. On its back there is a treble boost while still maintaining its low bass. I prefer this position the best. There are more instruments heard, particularly the snare drum and cymbals sound crisp and clear. Vocals are also clearer on its back. Even though the bass is still deep and present, it doesn’t over power the treble thanks to its boost. The third position is vertical (usually when hanging from its loop). It seems to be in between the other two. The only time I will do the upright position is if a track has overly high highs or at really loud volume levels (the treble gets a bit shrill at very high levels when on its back). But I don’t really ever listen to it that loud anyways and I recently bought a second one, so if I need it louder I’ll sync them up and do stereo. It gets very loud at just 50% with two.
maybe he really wants bose to win 😅🤣 it's intentional for sure why he didn't lay the jbl down for proper testing. he's rooting for the bose clearly (you can clearly see 😂)
That was the first thing I thought to myself too. I also have a Flip 6 and when I set it up like this the bass drops noticeably, but that's understandable as a passive radiator can't work effectively. So sometimes I wonder if some people lack the basic knowledge for such reviews...
Lol no you are increasing the bass by placing it upright since his table is made mostly made or hardwood which vibrates more when the passive radiator is placed facing down onto the hardwood so it increases the bass if he placed the bose flat on its back passive radiator it would have had a lot more bass. So either way the jbl looses.
I have two Bose Soundlink Flex speakers. Makes great stereo in a small package. A single speaker just doesn't provide good separation even if it's a single speaker stereo. L/R combined with Bose single speaker sounds good, but two is way better.
I like how the title changed to 2024 for a 2 year old video. The content is still relevant, the speakers are still for sale.... but yeah. I like the sound of the Flex a lot, sadly the current Bose look for these portable speakers is pretty ugly. But I still prefer them than the competition.
I bought 2 of the Bose Flex. When you pair both to the TV, there is a delay so speech doesn't match up to lip movement. If you only pair one to the TV, sound matches mouth movements. Apparently it's not meant to work as surround sound for TV
Shame I also had similar ideas but just the fact that I have to setup the stereo connection every time I power on the TV + I have to charge both got me thinking about something else...otherwise I think 1 bose flex will give better quality sound than most average soundbars!
I have had the opportunity to listen to both speakers, and I can say that the sound quality of both is excellent. Bosé brings out its typical Bosé sound, with that feeling that its bass felt broader, different from other brands; and not just the bass, the whole range of sound feels different in every Bosé product, anyone who appreciates good sound knows that it is its hallmark, it is why it is so appreciated and the sound as a whole has a quality of 10. The JBL Flip 6 has basses that are also of great quality, and I wouldn't classify them as inferior, but different, they are clearer, cleaner; the rest of the sound of the JBL Flip 6 also feels this way, very crisp mids and highs, very differentiated, it has an exceptionally balanced sound, more so than the Bosé. I wouldn't go so far as to say that one speaker has better sound than the other, because I think the rating depends on the use it is going to be put to. If you want a speaker more for portable use, to move it from here to there, I would say that the design of the JBL flip 6 is better, due to its cylindrical design, you can carry it in the bottle holder of a bicycle, it grips in a way natural by hand, and is best stored in any backpack; It is clearly a 100% portable and functional design that is more versatile, since you can place it and listen to it vertically, requiring no more base than the diameter of its cylinder. Plus it charges faster, it's easier to doing a portable use. The Bosé has a design that I would describe as wireless, in the literal sense of a speaker without the need for cables, but I don't think it has a portable design; I see it more as a desktop speaker, to have a wide base to place it, but it is not a versatile design, it does not give the game that the Flip 6, which you can place almost anywhere. The Bosé has the ability to take calls, but the Flip 6 does not, which also demonstrates the design intent of both. The Flip is for listening to music wherever you want, it makes it easy for you, listening to music, and picking it up intuitively, moving without the music cutting out simply thanks to the great range of its latest version of bluetooth. The Bosé, for a more serene use, have it in a more standard area, well placed near you, since its bluetooth does not reach more than 10 meters, take calls thanks to its microphone, even be able to connect it with a 3.5mm cable to the mobile or tablet without the need for bluetooth. I think these lines summarize well the impression that both products convey to me, both are excellent, but you have to know which of the two is made for you.
Four or five years ago, I replaced my JBL Flip 4 with a Flip 5, and I've been really happy with it. I've used it in the shower almost daily. The Flip 5 has now started to show its age and soaking almost daily. I'm looking to replace it, and the comparison video was helpful. Note that I seldom listen to music, but I'm a heavy listener to news, podcasts and audiobooks. Your video mentioned slightly greater clarity for the Flip 6. That and my positive experiences with the two previous models will probably move me toward the JBL.
I have an old Bose Soundlink Mini. Not loud but pleasing balanced sound whatever the music genre and nice for podcasts. I'm a Bose fan with respect to sound, but they always seem to have at least one really irritating feature in every product. The SoundLink Revolve+ (Series II) sounds great but at US$ 329 charges via a Micro-B USB port. That's a deal-breaker. I'm tempted to get the Flex, but Bluetooth 4.2? I suppose I can live with that, but seriously what were they thinking?
@@mamonano The main point is the sound delay. Bluetooth 5.0 and later versions decrease the delay of sound. If you just use it listen to music, it's fine. If you use a Bluetooth 4.2 speaker to watch a movie, you will find the unbearable delay of sound. The mouth and words are not matched.
Hi , i would also add the range, 4.2 are 10 meters , 5 is 400 Mt , there are a lot of good reason to have bt 5.2. On high standing brand and expensive portable speaker is unacceptable to not have the latest. Is like having micro USB port instead of USB c you cAn charge yes, but...
@@IAmKAZMO absolutely ridiculous and even a bit naïve :D perhaps despite charging an absolute premium for their products bose also wanted to cost save as much as they could?
why is the KBL being tested standing upright? That s blocking one of its passive radiators, it was not designed or intended to be listened to with one blockage
Why do reviewers always say it's such a bonus u can adjust the eq on one model and not on another? It's a completely irrelevant piece of information if one has eq in their app. There a thousand free EQ apps that work on any speakers or headphones, so please don't include this as a pro or con or buying decision factor, it's totally misleading the way you portray it.
What you’re saying is true, however there is a significant difference using jbl’s eq over any other. For example I used Apple Music’s own in-built eq and it barely made a difference.
Thanks for the superb review. Outstanding production values, writing, and editing. So refreshing! And it absolutely provided just the information I was after. Thanks again.
Great review my man. I had the charge 3 for the last 4 years. Very well kept, about 20 or 30 times used. It just broke all of a sudden. I will order the Bose now. Let's see how it performs. Thanks again for the review
My flip6 just froze, sent it for warranty, they just reseted it sent it back, I expected they would at least clean up my speaker for the trouble their faulty product had caused me
I've had a charge 3 since it was released in 2017, so it's turning 6 soon Used hundreds of times, a whole year in a welding workshop, every summer evening in my garden, every weekend in my garage, in short very used ; Works like new, moreover it looks like new as I am a careful user, the only slight issue I have with it is that the battery is just starting to have an autonomy that drops a little, nothing serious but I feel it's time to sell it and finance a Flip 6 to replace it I can't wait to upgrade to a more compact update that's just as effective in bass, superior in treble, and which will surely leave for the same lifespan. And in 6 years, when the technology will be better again and my battery is on the verge of its decline, I will replace it again with better 😊
Had charge 3 as well for 4-5 years. 99% used indoor, well kept, used almost at least 3 times a week. At year 3 the charger/battery seems to break. Fully charged but lasted half of the original one. 3 months after I have to keep charging it to let it not dead. 2 months after the speaker started to make weird noise and went completely dead not long after this. Will 100% try Bose next time, not sure if it will be better but we shall see.
JBL has good Twitter and sound, but for the BOSE had good vocal and bass. For me, i may take that Bose SoundLink due to sound, but for price and more advantages of range and twitter JBL is good
Funny mine charges in like 3-4 hours. Also, what is wrong with the Flex’s BT? It works the full distance of my house and connects quick and cycles easily through all my devices to effortlessly select the source I want to play from without having to go into my devices Bluetooth settings to connect. It’s pretty slick to me. I don’t know what 5.2 would do for me. How many people play their BT speaker 3 houses away from their source? And if you live in a mansion what the hell are you doing with small BT speakers? Go get some Martin Logans.
I have the JBL Flip 6, it's made to lay flat for the most impressive sound. It can be submerged under water while playing music, also it is dust proof. It said to hold 12 hours of charge, but actually will hold 18 hours of charge. I'm ecstatic with my JBL Flip 6 😊😊😊😁
I have both and wouldn’t part with either of them. They are more alike than they are different. The Flex might be a hair cleaner/richer sound with a bit deeper bass but the JBL cranks, has an EQ and can pair with a lot of other JBL speakers. It’s really a hair splitting contest. I’ve gone through a lot of BT speakers and IMO, these are the two best in the $100-150 class.
I have had an older version of the Flip in my kitchen for years, and it sounds awesome. Enjoyable for a wide range of music, and it has plenty of bass. Can't speak for the Bose speaker, but I love their sport earbuds.
Had a Bose Soundlink mini, which served me perfectly for 7 years. It stopped charging, so I was using my original Creative Labs Iroar since then. Another great BT speaker. I originally ordered the JBL but found this review and realized that if the Flex sounds as good as the Soundlink did, I'm sold. I cancelled my JBL and am awaiting the Flex now. Thanks for your review.
Hi, I just bought myself a JBl Flip 6, but then I saw how many people are consider buying a Bose or JBL. I bought it to use in a hotel room while I am traveling a lot. I wantes a compact size and really good sound quality. Sometimes I will conect it to my laptop to watch a movie. Bose flex has older Bluetooth. It causes some delay in the sound in watching movies? I consider giving it back to the store and grab a Bose, but those comments are like 50/50. Sound is number one for me when playing music, but from time to time I wpuld like to watch a movie also without any delay. Ps. And I love deep bass :))
My Synergy let me down 2nd time in 1 year so I'm done with it. In the market now, circling around Bose but looking for relevant alternative. After watching your fine video I guess the Flex will be my next bt speaker. Thank you.
I was hoping you were going to comment on the stereo linking of both. I have got the Bose but find the stereo linking really hit and miss Occasionally it works first time other times one can spend 30mins or more, or sometimes links then drops the link. That goes for stereo mode and party mode. Mono is easy to achieve and often defaults to mono for not obvious reason.I am not interested in using in mono so am sending them back But linking was unfortunately not part of your test. But thanks for the rest
The Bose app is til this day a catastrophe!! I have 2x Microlink and what a drama to get them in stereo mode!! "Both speakers lost" "Ready to Connect" Then one is suddenly off and so on. Not every time but way too often for my taste!
I bought the flip6 before watching this vid, but was unaware of the additional eq settings for it (other than "party boost). Now all I have to do is find out where/how to access them (the "instruction manual" seems more concerned with providing general warning info in literally EVERY language than any significant instruction. At least any I can see with a magnifying glass.) That's not a joke. All things considered, I'm very pleased with sound of the JBL flip6 and doubt I'll be trading it in for the Bose as I'm not a fan of the flat design, sound grill, or outdated Bluetooth connection. Still, an interesting comparison vid, so thanks for that.
I have just ordered a Flip6 using a voucher/coupon (May 2024) from JBL for £84.99 with free delivery. The ‘sale’ price for the Bose Soundlink Flex currently is £119 from a range of companies. Bose themselves are advertising their Soundlink Flex at £119.95
At my workplace there is a JBL speaker we use. Took my Bose to work one day to compare and it sounded way fuller, had richer bass and could go way louder without sounding cheap. Especially since I like to listen to music that has a bit more bass going on. I also have a Bose Soundlink Mini, which I think is still my preference, ever so slightly. The Mini has a warmer sound.
which one should i buy charge 5 or Soundlink Flex??? pls help!!!!! i concern about sound quality and sound clarity!!! portability and size factor doesn't make sense to me!!!!
Great review: I think the most important 'win factor' for the JBL should be the Bluetooth distance. The difference between having your phone within 10m of the speaker or 40/50m (as per your test) is really significant. I think that piece of info swung it for me, and the ability to EQ.
@@TheOscar1194 Muy positiva! Tiene un sonido muy bonito y llena espacio. No satura. Estoy muy satisfecho y creo que más adelante compraré otro para emparejarlos. Ahora si pones reggaetón sonará mal en cualquier parte. Saludos!
What about the Latency in Flip 6? My main purpose will be video streaming on my iPhone 13 pro and MSI Modern Laptop. Should I go for the Flip 4 because it has Aux Port or the Flip 6 because it's have Bluetooth 5 and Type C?
Great review guys , but I want to use this as sound system on my Bluetooth TV in my caravan so I can improve the sound on these small TVs when watching movies and live broadcasts. Which one would you select for my purposes. Thanks
Would you recommend the JBL over the Bose for podcasts? I mainly use speakers for podcasts so voice quality is more important to me, and bass not so much as I'd typically prefer to have clearer treble.
I have an old car, I wanted to opt for the JBL Flip 6 by connecting the smartphone, could 2 of Flip 6 be enough, one placed in front, one on the shelf behind to create a "decent stereo" listening? There's other options, Greetings
sounds like the Bose Soundlink Flex would be the better choice for hip hop and electronic music in that case although I'm a little apprehensive due to the people in the comments saying it doesn't sound as good when you crank up the volume. also I'm not a huge fan of AI features that alter the sound that you can't turn off.
Not really. The tweeter gives the edge to the Flip 6 and it will definitely sound cleaner and better at higher volumes with better instruments separation plus having that tweeter gives it a lot more flexibility when it comes to the EQ.
Great video. I just bought 2 soundlink flex for stereo / party pairing. Have you noticed, while it sounds astronomical, there is a major problem with audio delay when viewing videos while two speakers are paired. Is that the same case with JBL?
@@alexisvilla5281 Didn't try any other of their other speakers or headphones. But I have bought and tested JBL Flip 6, Bose Soundlink Flex, Marshall Emberton II for a month. I kept the Soundlink Flex. It could be their first blow out product.
@@verynick If you want to watch videos with it, Single Flex is the only option. No other speaker has the latency to catch on. Double Flex for stereo somehow works perfectly when you stream on a mac though, and has to be fidgeted on a PC. That said, I was new to the market and bought Flex due to its review, had a bit of buyers regret, returned it and tried all other speakers. I bought the Flex back and returned the rest. Stereo Audio pairing can be a bit annoying, but the sound is just phenominal. Lay the speaker down and the bottom bass will turn your whole table or floor to a bass.
This review, along with the comment section seem to give the impression the Bose is better. That said, currently in Australia, the Flip 6 is half the cost of the Bose, so would the Flip be the better choice for me with that in mind?
Not really. The tweeter gives the edge to the Flip 6 and it will definitely sound cleaner and better at higher volumes with better instruments separation plus having that tweeter gives it a lot more flexibility when it comes to the EQ.
I compared the JBL Flip 6, Marshall Emperton and Bose Soundlink Flex. All 3 were very impressive but I decided on the Flex because I could “feel” the bass.
Yes, boss soundlink flex all day...Good bass.

I agree but I think the bose has deeper low bass but the JBL has higher high bass. When the bass goes up.
Flex vs jbl pulse5?

Bought my first set of bose home speakers 13 years ago. Two moves and three houses later they sound and work flawlessly.
I preferred the sound quality of the JBL , glad you did this test I was going to get the Bose

Love it

I use my milwaukee radio but I would use JBL if I didn't have it
Watched many vids on the Bose, no one mentioned the silicone trim…..So thanks for that
Kudos on review, great to the point comparison feedback. Bought the Bose Soundlink Flex for $110 at Costco. I’m not an expert on sound, Happy with Bose.
Isn't the Flip 6 designed to be positioned in the horizontal position and not the vertical?
@@saardean4481 you nailed it

I just got the flip six and I'm very pleased with the sound!
Is it still going fine? I wanna buy it as well, please reply
Why on earth you kept the flip 6 upside down?
It is meant to lay down so that the passive radiator pushes the bass without any obstruction..
That kind of points out a design flaw. The Bose sounds good at any orientation.
@@G_Demolishedno, not a design flaw. It’s the way it’s designed. The angle actually increases the projection of sound.
I don’t think covering one sub reflex will reduce the bass that much.

Great review. Since you talk about durability, it would be great if you could take into account reparability of the object too. Too many times we buy objects that are designed to be hard to repair or not to be repaired at all. Thanks!

Fair, happy people care and notice.
I wanted to get a Bose Speaker. But on Amazon I read too many bad reviews, sl I think it's gonna be a jbl flip 🤔
@@edcipriani8873 You are right. I thought the same with Soundcore :)
In the yesterday year...I bought 901 series IV. Like Pepsi Vs Coke. Win-Win.
Owned the JBL flip 6 and charge 5 and while they’re great the Bose is way more of a quality sound to my ears and the charge 5 comes in second followed by the flip 6. I was having trouble deciding and am grateful I went with the Bose soundlink flex.
soundcore Motion Plus is better then Flip 6 and Charge 5.
Same experience with 2 JBL speakers. Even after replacing the battery, I was disappointed.
Very interesting input, thank you :0
I must say I agree with the battery wear factor. Had myself a flip 4 and had the same issue. Turned to a soundcore motion+ and it is really an outstanding BT speaker, no issues at all but not quite portable. Now bought the Bose, I hope it is up to the hype
I've personally used JBL flip 4 and the JBL GO 1 a whole lot, and none has let me down in 8 years...
Very impressive and I'd love to get the flip 6!🎉🎉
This is why I'm not buying JBL speakers anymore. Their batteries die completely in just a couple of years.
And from different angles for each generally to test the 360-ness. Also testing at high volumes to test for distortion.
@@TwinbeeUK Yes I agree,. Totally. Just in case you are interested. I have had the charge 5 for 2 years and love it. If anything happened to it, I would buy another the next day. 👍

I have a JBL Flip 4 since it was released and it still works perfectly but thinking about upgrading.
Was wondering just how classical and jazz would sound on both!? Thanks for your opinion. 👍🏻
Finally! Someone who actually plays the speaker during a review, instead of just yakking about out. Thank you!

@kedarisgreat You'd have to do my job as good or better.
I have got Bose Home Speaker 500
Believe me the quality of music it plays is just awesome …
I went with the Flip 6 because here in Turkey the Bose Flex costs twice as much. No matter how much I prefer deep bass over everything else it was nonsense to pay double the price. I hope that the EQ Settings in JBL App can make up for the difference in bass, given that in stock mode the Bose’s basses sounds quite a bit better.
Good job
Super helpful. You explain so calm and clear! Bravo
With the orientation of the JBL flip 6 during the sound test I feel it was put at a disadvantage as one of the passive radiators was being obstructed due to the speaker being placed on it's side
It's interesting that this video was made 2 years ago, in 2022 and yet the title says "what is the best to buy in 2024" pretty good that you knew back then what would be the best to buy now 😂🤣🤣🤣
Lol! I didn’t even notice it was posted 2 years ago

C
Just bought the Bose. Need a speaker for Mexico. I'm Impressed, and I'm a KRK / Audio Technica guy.
Thanks for your review mate
same here, what a disappointment.
The JBL should have been laying down your losing bass from the end port, I have one.
finally someone noticed. Did they do it on purpose to put it into a disadvantage?
maybe he really wants bose to win 😅🤣 it's intentional for sure why he didn't lay the jbl down for proper testing. he's rooting for the bose clearly (you can clearly see 😂)
That was the first thing I thought to myself too. I also have a Flip 6 and when I set it up like this the bass drops noticeably, but that's understandable as a passive radiator can't work effectively. So sometimes I wonder if some people lack the basic knowledge for such reviews...
He's paid from Bose.
Lol no you are increasing the bass by placing it upright since his table is made mostly made or hardwood which vibrates more when the passive radiator is placed facing down onto the hardwood so it increases the bass if he placed the bose flat on its back passive radiator it would have had a lot more bass. So either way the jbl looses.
dude... awesome vid. great sound comparison, nice short clips.
Kudos on the review. You chose the finalists
I have two Bose Soundlink Flex speakers. Makes great stereo in a small package. A single speaker just doesn't provide good separation even if it's a single speaker stereo. L/R combined with Bose single speaker sounds good, but two is way better.
I did that and i had huge audio delay through windows 11.
What a very complete description you've given. Thank you
Gracias por tu punto de vista ;)

I suppose I can live with that, but seriously what were they thinking?
what difference does it make between 4.2 and 5 or 5.1, I mean in terms of actual listening experience..
They were thinking about how many speakers would come up stolen if you left it 100 ft. away from you just bc it had the latest.... imo
I just ordered the Bose flex as well. I have always been a big fan of the sound.
I use my LG V30 phone music app audio setting and ignored the speaker's equaliser setting, it makes a difference to all speakers I use.
We are oh so very very terribly sorry, KAREN, for misleading you by providing a free review, investing our own time und money in it! (We = reviewers).
how can you judge the sound quality of a speaker when the most important factor for you is how loud it gets?
End up buying a Bose Flex and it's being my most favorite portable speaker ever ^^
Thanks for your review :D
Good choice!
Does the soundlink flex have speakers to can talk and take phone calls?
Thanks for the superb review. Outstanding production values, writing, and editing. So refreshing! And it absolutely provided just the information I was after. Thanks again.
Great review my man. I had the charge 3 for the last 4 years. Very well kept, about 20 or 30 times used. It just broke all of a sudden. I will order the Bose now. Let's see how it performs.
Thanks again for the review
My flip6 just froze, sent it for warranty, they just reseted it sent it back, I expected they would at least clean up my speaker for the trouble their faulty product had caused me
I've had a charge 3 since it was released in 2017, so it's turning 6 soon
Used hundreds of times, a whole year in a welding workshop, every summer evening in my garden, every weekend in my garage, in short very used ;
Works like new, moreover it looks like new as I am a careful user, the only slight issue I have with it is that the battery is just starting to have an autonomy that drops a little, nothing serious but I feel it's time to sell it and finance a Flip 6 to replace it
I can't wait to upgrade to a more compact update that's just as effective in bass, superior in treble, and which will surely leave for the same lifespan.
@@zangorajura This is interesting, I have had the exact same experience with mine as well.

Is this the flex 2 or flex 1?
will the bose flex fit into water bottle holder on bicycles?
Super helpful and I love the in depth coverage of all bases! Bose would be so perfect if it had Flip 6’s Bluetooth! Thank you for this great video!
also if it didnt take almost 5 hours to charge, ughhh.
When you placed JBL upright, you closed output of one of the two subwoofer
I have the JBL Flip 6, it's made to lay flat for the most impressive sound. It can be submerged under water while playing music, also it is dust proof. It said to hold 12 hours of charge, but actually will hold 18 hours of charge. I'm ecstatic with my JBL Flip 6 😊😊😊😁
Why are you testing the JBL standing on one end? You're blocking a good portion of the bass response. Anyone can become a UA-camr thats the real issue
Your absolutely right it should be laid flat I have the flip 5
For reals man common
Super helpful & very thorough! Thank you.
May I ask how the JBL pairs with other JBL? Meaning it can serially pair with the same source, at the same time?
I have had an older version of the Flip in my kitchen for years, and it sounds awesome. Enjoyable for a wide range of music, and it has plenty of bass. Can't speak for the Bose speaker, but I love their sport earbuds.
I have bose soundbar ,and ipod dock , i am very satisfied w/the sound, planning to get soundlink flex, thanks for the great review!
I am a JBL fan since 2012 still using JBL extreme 2
Thank you for a brilliant review
Ps. And I love deep bass :))
how does the bose do on the beach? can sand get in the front grill? any way to clean it once it does?
Yeah I don't understand how little people seem to care about that
The Bose app is til this day a catastrophe!!
I have 2x Microlink and what a drama to get them in stereo mode!!
"Both speakers lost"
"Ready to Connect"
Then one is suddenly off and so on.
At least any I can see with a magnifying glass.)
That's not a joke.
Thanks for your review it really helps me which one to buy
My pleasure 😊
I just picked up the Bose, and loving it. My new BBQ at the park speaker
I’d suggest that the sound testing room although equal for both speakers is way too live and would benefit from some treatment.
Great review: I think the most important 'win factor' for the JBL should be the Bluetooth distance. The difference between having your phone within 10m of the speaker or 40/50m (as per your test) is really significant. I think that piece of info swung it for me, and the ability to EQ.
Thank you for this. You guys do a really solid job!!! Great work
I don't understand english very well but was a great review. I will buy the Flex i think. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
Lo compraste? en caso de ser sí, cuéntame tu experiencia porfa
@@TheOscar1194 Muy positiva! Tiene un sonido muy bonito y llena espacio. No satura. Estoy muy satisfecho y creo que más adelante compraré otro para emparejarlos. Ahora si pones reggaetón sonará mal en cualquier parte. Saludos!
@@rodbof5624 mil gracias, un abrazo
Great review !
Thanks!
I just bought a Flip 6 and like it. The Boise sounded good also.
Thanks
Go for the bose
Would you recommend the JBL over the Bose for podcasts? I mainly use speakers for podcasts so voice quality is more important to me, and bass not so much as I'd typically prefer to have clearer treble.
For bass bose is good and for vocals separation jbl is good
I have an old car, I wanted to opt for the JBL Flip 6 by connecting the smartphone, could 2 of Flip 6 be enough, one placed in front, one on the shelf behind to create a "decent stereo" listening? There's other options, Greetings
sounds like the Bose Soundlink Flex would be the better choice for hip hop and electronic music in that case although I'm a little apprehensive due to the people in the comments saying it doesn't sound as good when you crank up the volume. also I'm not a huge fan of AI features that alter the sound that you can't turn off.
Not really. The tweeter gives the edge to the Flip 6 and it will definitely sound cleaner and better at higher volumes with better instruments separation plus having that tweeter gives it a lot more flexibility when it comes to the EQ.
Great quality video! Really great presentation!
Thank you for that very thorough review. My son is choosing the Bose Soundlink.
Great review. Thanks 😎👍
Great video. I just bought 2 soundlink flex for stereo / party pairing. Have you noticed, while it sounds astronomical, there is a major problem with audio delay when viewing videos while two speakers are paired. Is that the same case with JBL?
with bose everything is heard flat and tight.
@@alexisvilla5281 Didn't try any other of their other speakers or headphones. But I have bought and tested JBL Flip 6, Bose Soundlink Flex, Marshall Emberton II for a month. I kept the Soundlink Flex. It could be their first blow out product.
@@bhcbhc I would believe you more as you seem to have both to be tested in person. How are you liking the flex? I’m in the market hehe
Can they remain plugged in?
I just got one for Christmas yay😊
I have the Bose and very happy with it. I use it a lot and battery life is good.
Solid, comprehensive review 🙏cheers
This review, along with the comment section seem to give the impression the Bose is better. That said, currently in Australia, the Flip 6 is half the cost of the Bose, so would the Flip be the better choice for me with that in mind?
Not really. The tweeter gives the edge to the Flip 6 and it will definitely sound cleaner and better at higher volumes with better instruments separation plus having that tweeter gives it a lot more flexibility when it comes to the EQ.
