- Mobile Games are a guilty pleasure of mine so I figured it was only a matter of time before I covered it.
In a previous video I covered Android on Steam Deck via Genymotion but this is a FAR better method. Better performance too with ACTUAL controller support.

hoping Blue Archive issue would be fixed someday, so far it's the only game I want to get it running on Steam Deck, granted I can run it on my phone but after it went through hardware failure I don't want to strain the device any further
playing the JP version isn't a great experience as the thing this game offers the best is the story 😥
I can confirm that With the latest version, you can play blue archive na now. The game allowed me to install and update with no problem.

but now I'm having an issue when I try to use my main account. Which is weird 'cause the J P version works perfectly
Seems like there's a patch now.

@@HiTechLoLife tried that one, it works decent aside from the fact that the game is a bit finicky during boot and requires me to restart a few times

I use Waydroid on the Steam Deck to run one of my favorite games, which is mobile only. It's called Dawncaster, I enjoy this deckbuilder game and played it before on my phone for a while!

You don't have to play Vampire Survivors mobile vertically, I play it on my phone landscape. "Orientation" is what changes this, unless changing that option crashes waydroid for some reason.
Not gonna lie, I didn't even check it out lol. But it's good to know for future reference.

Kind of mad that you would put Blue Archive on both the thumbnail and first 20 seconds of the video if this method doesn't work for it (even if it's only the global version) but ah well. Could you link the video on that other emulator that can run it? I'm fine with no controller support tbh, I just want to play BA in English without it crashing every time I try to do the tutorial so I can reroll for himari. I can't seem to find it.

Hi, thank for this video it really helped me a lot setting up waydroid on my steam deck but Is there an alternative way to add waydroid (android) games on my steam deck library? I looked into Home/Android_Waydroid folder ... and there wasn't any template.sh file. (not sure how to proceed😅)

I do I use it to make calls with you know like a phone 😊 I also have this great thing for playing games on it’s called a steamdeck, I been sarcastic and salty I know your joking but I’ve been trying to find a simple faf free phone simulator for the deck since I first got it I just can’t believe the community hasn’t got one working by now what with all the others we have running for every other system.
I’m not exactly what you would call well off so if I’m getting a phone it’s because I need it for calls not gaming so my phone is like 15 or more years old I plan to get a new one but it’s on the list a very long list 😢and it wasn’t the newest model when I got it to make matters worse but it’s still working and luckily hasn’t don’t that balloon trick that most other battery did which is a miracle by itself.

Hello, Is there any way to "tilt" or "shake" with Waydroid?
I explain myself, I want to play the Dead Space Mobile but in that game it is mandatory to tilt or shake the phone to change the type of shot.
Without doing that, it is impossible to finish the first chapter😭
Anyone have any luck getting Pokemon Unite to play with this? I got up to the point I could login - getting an email confirmation of the login and such. But the game just gets stuck "Loading" and won't go past that screen

Thank you so damn much. Fingers crossed I can get some very hyper specific games running, especially older APK versions of Minecraft Pocket Edition. I've got the Bedrock Launcher on my Steam Deck but I'm gonna experiment with older versions and what works. It's weird I've got a weird obsession with installing as many editions of the game as possible. I've got Java (current, alpha and beta), Bedrock, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS etc. Mainly for my own curiosity AND if I ever feel like getting back into content creation as a hobby again I'll have a killer topic on my hands 😂 "how many versions of Minecraft can be run on Steam deck" or something like that
I love seeing other posts for this Waydroid app, only to find out they don't actually work like they say they do.
I'm on 3.5.19 and I can't get Waydroid to launch properly after any reboot of the SD itself, and Final Fantasy Dimensions 1.1.3 always throws an error at me when I try to open it, yet I hear it's supposed to work. I feel like all the guides I followed are missing some detail or they have some fixed build that works properly that hasn't been uploaded.

I wouldn't use waydroid for Genshin as Genshin on Android does not have true controller support.
There are ways to get the PC version working on steam deck

Tarisland straight up does not have controller support. There is a program you can use to map onscreen buttons to controller buttons but I think 10min Steam Deck Gamer has a tutorial on that.
That said I MIGHT update my own android tutorial.

HSR works through Proton using a certain "anime launcher", so does Genshin.

Arknights works on waydroid, on my regular linux install (not steam deck), but I see no reason why it wouldn't work on steam deck
Well this actually has worked surprisingly well….although the only downside is that the storage is full and I can’t play any android games….why is that?
Hello I am having a hard time with this being that none of what your showing adds up and ik that your just trying to help but I been trying this out and watching myself fail for the last 2 hours trying to figure out how in the hell did you get it to say waydtoid on the terminal without it having already been downloaded I have no words on my terminal other than dekysteamdeck

Or you can just go to the website using your browser, download the zip file of the repo, and you save the hassle to have to do the git clone. Once you unzip the archive the result is the same
BTW the default image created is 2 GB; you may want to increase its size

Imo waydroid isn't very good since it seems to break all the time for me, especially when moving it to my sd card.
Is it possible to side load gacha games instead of directly getting them from the playstore to make them work? Just an idea I have. As the jp version of Blue Archive works, but not the global version. I'll try to do this on my end to test. Thanks for the video
It is. In fact I've demonstrated how to sideload. You can also use Qooapp to manage your other region games too.

You can do this with Steam Input.
@@HiTechLoLife Can you? I haven't found any option to map specific touch screen regions to buttons in steam input.
@@Yumegipsuhi author of the script here. You can use mantis gamepad pro. I tried this on two sample games - Project Bloodstrike and NBA Infinite. Will be releasing an updated guide soon.
@Yumegipsu go to action sets and select always on command then select touch screen command on the last section I believe and you're good to go

On the play store? It's not something you can fix. You could try side loading the app but there's still no guarantee that the game will actually work.

Castlevania SOTN has a native android port but unless if you are emulating on deck you are SOL.. I think it’s a travesty they don’t release a port on steam
I can finally ditch Minecraft Bedrock Launcher for Linux! whenever a new Minecraft update came out I'd have to wait for bedrock launcher to support it, also bedrock launcher would more often than not NOT let me launch because it couldn't connect with Google even if it didn't have to download anything, it was so utterly annoying to deal with. SO LONG, I'm using waydroid now it it plays perfectly fine (and yeah I use bedrock, not all my friends play on PC)

Office 365 from Microsoft are a nice Android app that Run fine on Waydroid.
I use it on my Debian 12 laptop where I use it to test converted files from LibreOffice to make the final touches.

Ah yeah you can always sideload games even if Google Play says it's not compatible with your system.
Of course there's no guarantee that it'll work, but it's worth mentioning.

I should mention that the script has likely been updated and has changed since I made this video.

That has to do with playing the Windows version of the game on Linux/Steam Deck, not necessarily related to the Android version.
I don't know if the Android version works or not.

The Android UI works in desktop move, but game performance depends on the game.
