Those plastic fasteners were easier to take off then the ones I've seen but yeah, taking that belt off was quite a job. If you own a mini, but that tool! Great job showing all the steps.
I’m going to tackle this job next week for my R53 cooper S now I’m waiting the S belt n idler pulley from FCP euro , this video will guide me nicely! Thank you
I use a "Freightliner", green stripe belt that lasts way longer than the others. I took off the spring type belt tensioner that rattles no matter what you do to it and put in a mechanical strut that has a star wheel on it to adjust the tension. There is no noise from the belt anymore. I have that stupid tool and do not need it since I changed it. Here is the tensioner, altaperformance.com/i-14007122-adjustable-tensioner-stop-for-r53-supercharged-engine.html. For the best belt ask for the Gates green stripe belt in the right size. "Freightliner" name to it.
"Big jaunt" ... I love it. Oh and guess who's rocking a shiny new throttle body and connector on the 305 in their Savana. You don't want to know what that cost!
Another little tidbit of info. These motors start to weep oil from all over the place and you can use something called AT-305 which swells and softens up the seals to stop a lot of the leaks, even in your power steering system. DO NOT USE IT FOR THE BRAKES!
You right. It's AT-205 Reseal exactly. Did you look up that tensioner by Alta? I run it now for 30,000 miles with the Green stripe belt. Practically no wear at all with a 15% smaller pully. Boost went from 11 to 14 and sometimes 15 inched of mercury.

They only came off easy because of the fancy pocket screwdriver you gave me. 😉
@@ozzstars_cars Ha! I had to go back and look. Your right, that was the right tool for the job. :)

You're welcome. Make sure you have the special belt removal tool, pinned above here in the comment section.
"Sounds kinda kinky" had the whole crew laughing. Thanks for helping us oil change techs with this conundrum!
Merry Christmas to all of you. 😛
Man you need mini hands to work on that car. Great job!
I'm not sure how big manly hand guys can do this job. 😁
The best video on the internet!
👍😁👍
Bless those engineers heart for designing that...ha ha . Nice work Glen
Yeah nobody cares about the guy that's got to work on it. Haha

Great job bud, pain in the back side the mini tensioner, without the tensioner special tool it’s game over 😊👍👍👍
Game over or let the next guy do it. Haha Thanks for checking out the vid.
Appreciate you man.
Thanks Gerald.
Very cool, very informative 👍🏼 Thank you 😎
Thanks for your comment.
👍 ok Glen you have the largest tool on UA-cam , must needed for a tight fit like that mini :)
You are making a lot of sense now Steve! Largest tool. 😁
Really good video, good explanation and angles.
Thanks for your comment. -Glen
DANG. That's a belt change.
Moe the tension tool would be right up your alley, you could have made one in a minute!

Very helpful thanks!
Hey, I know you. We’re cheating on our Jeeps, lol
@@BroncoSolid ha ha. Don't tell anyone. I'm already on double secret probation lol
Nice job, Glen. Hopefully i will never have to replace another Mini belt.
Won't miss it will ya?
Great video ozzstar
Good job Glen !
Thanks. Are you ready for the weekend yet Norm?
Fun job
Great vid Thanks ALOT!!
😇🙏👍🌽
You got it Benny!
Good video Glen
Thanks man appreciate stopping on by again.
Gates makes good belts and ac and hydraulic lines
Probably one of the toughest belt installs i have seen.
It's tight, that's for sure.
That’s some tight quarters to get to that belt. Probably a standard belt removal tool would never get in there, 😀👍
Won't work unless it has two pins. Or you get an s shaped prybar. lol
**WARNING** Placing the pin in the second hole may result in access to all holes being lost. Individual results may vary.
Hahaha! 😂😬😂
Hi my belt snapped, what's R52 s belt number?
Thanks
Great explanation
Thank you for the tutorial ✌
Thanks Ozzer! But is there an adjuster to tighten the belt tensioner before having to go in and repalce the belt?
The belt tensioner is spring loaded, there is nothing to adjust. It's replace or reuse only. Thanks for your comment.
Do you recommend replacing the tensioner and roller with the serpentine belt?
If it is defective
I tried looking but didn't see year of that mini. My sis has 2014 countryman S
Quick before zee Germans get here! 🇩🇪
And to think it was British at one time. Hmmm
Yes the Germans bought it for £1- its shows💸💸💸💸💸😂😜
Awe man, there ya go using that philly slang again. LOL
haha Maybe I should do a vid using Rocky Balboa's voice impression? Yo DIY Misfit you seen Adrian? I start training towmarro.
@@ozzstars_cars LMAO
Look at OZZ gettin kinky with belts. 😉
Who would have thought? 😁
FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD.....couldn't they have made it more complicated!
Seriously.
We’re do you get that tool for the tension pulley
The link is pinned above in the comments and in the description.
What were they thinking with this setup?
They think, who cares.
@@ozzstars_cars oh yeah
It's BMW, they don't think.
It's simple, they want you to bring it to them to work on it.
That one looks like it's more work than the Chrysler mini vans.
It's a mini pain!

Yes Andrew you are right. I think you mean AT-205, and it does work to stop oil leaks! amzn.to/2H5lbi8

1st BOOM
I need to go to BOOM school to figure out how you do it!
Sir 2010 model mini Cooper engine belt number?
I think they were high! I can change my belt in less than 2 minutes 😂
Higher than a kite.
Not my favorite part of the mini to work on.
I hear ya
