    This is super helpful! My elbows have been snapping for years, and a lot of shoulder/arm exercises irritate them over time; everything I could find online said surgery was the only fix. I never could figure out why it was happening in the first place; love this visual. Definitely going to try those exercises from Part 1 and see if I can just loosen them up since it's not messing with my workout too much/I can modify around it. Thank you!

    I have no choice but to reduce the range of motion of my tricep exercises. I stop bending when my arms are at 90. I don't care if they say I'm cheating. Lower than 90, my tendon will snap. I have no problem doing chest and overhead press, so I guess I'm pretty lucky. My biggest issue is bulging disc and sciatica.

    Can this same phenomenon occur on the lateral side of the elbow? I have a painless 'flicker' or pop that I can touch with my opposite hand when I bring my elbow from extension to flexion while the humerus is flexed. It right around the the vicinity of the lateral epicondyle and soft spot. Have no idea if it's tricep, ligament, tendon, etc. :(

    The slight pop for me when extending my elbow fully happens on the outer side of the arm. My elbow also gets "stuck" and I have to snap it back in. I've done nerve conduction studies and they were normal.
    I do have hypermobility disorder but it still doesnt fully explain why my elbow gets "stuck" and snaps every day.
    I say snap as it's a very loud noise.
    Do you perhaps know what could be causing this?

    Just to be clear, are we talking about ulnar nerve subluxation here? Because every source ive checked (including a surgeon)has pointed at surgery being the only option for fixing this issue. If youre telling me there is a chance, i could actually improve thos issue without surgery i am very interested!

    • @DeskJockeyPhysio
      @DeskJockeyPhysio  10 місяців тому

      You can definitely help improve it, if not manage it without surgery. Depending on how progressed things are that is. Some folks are unfortunate enough to have a shallow groove for the nerve which is less treatable - but many others can have great improvement.

      From the sounds of it that may be a similar issues for sure! Although hard to say without a specific assessment.

    • @36AccountsBlockedRIP
      @36AccountsBlockedRIP 4 роки тому +4

      I've found some research indicating that there can be two snaps or clicks involved when bending the arm.
      If you straighten your arm and bend it and you feel or hear a snap or click BEFORE your arm is at a 90 degree angle it's likely to be the ulnar nerve, if you feel or hear it AFTER your arm is at a 90 degree angle, it's the medial triceps. Hold your arm straight above you and then bend it, if you don't feel it holding your arm in front of you. Mind you, it can be both.
      I am not a clinician or anything like that, but I thought it may be helpful.

    • @36AccountsBlockedRIP
      @36AccountsBlockedRIP 4 роки тому +2

      Also, if it's just the medial head of the triceps, then the symptoms typical for ulnar nerve displacement should be absent, like tingling or numbness in the hand and fingers, weakness of your grip, and there are more signs. Mind you, one can have both. And again, I'm in no way qualified to give medical advice, this is just what I remember reading about in the medical literature.
